Caged and Crowned: A Wolf Shifter Rejected Mate Romance

Rate this book
I thought reclaiming my memories would bring me peace. Instead, it brought pain I can’t seem to shake.

Koen remembers everything too—every promise, every betrayal, every reason why we fell apart. I forgave him, but he’s still keeping his distance, shackled by guilt I can’t seem to reach through. And there’s no time to wait for him to come around.

The secret of the Ashen Wolves has been exposed. We were driven out of our sanctuary, and the packs who hunted us into near extinction are preparing for war. I was raised to protect my kind at any cost… even if that cost is everything else.

Because this war is coming whether we’re ready or not. And if I have to burn the world to protect my people, I will.

What a bittersweet and satisfying way to say goodbye to the Ashen Wolves series 🥹🐺
Caged and Crowned truly delivered the sense of closure I was hoping for in a finale. Watching the storyline come together and seeing these characters reach the end of their journey felt so rewarding and emotional in the best way. It really honored everything that’s been built throughout the series and gave longtime readers those meaningful payoff moments.
I’ve had the absolute honor of ARC reading this series from the very first book to the last, and getting to experience the growth of the world, the characters, and the stakes in real time has been such a special experience. This final installment felt like the perfect send off for a series that has held my attention from the beginning.
I’m so excited that we’re not completely leaving this world behind! I will 100% be picking up the prequel novella 👀✨

I’m sad to see the end of this series! I have really enjoyed it ❤️
I thought this was a really fitting end to the series and I liked the way that it rounded off the main story arcs. Finally the Ashen Wolves have found a place to settle.
This was another rollercoaster ride in terms of events and emotions. I have loved Avril and Koen’s story arc throughout this series. This book sees another slight shift in their dynamics with Koen having to come to terms with events and decisions from the previous book and his own feelings of guilt. Avril tries to help him but ultimately he has to work through this in his own way and prove himself to the whole pack.
I didn’t think they were any more revelations left to be revealed - how wrong I was! There is a lot of action so this book feels faster paced as a result. The packs are going to war!
It has been such a privilege to be part of the ARC team for this whole series and see it evolve and develop into the series it is now.

Huge thanks to Louise Clément for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and honestly/voluntarily given.

This is a 3.5 * read for me. This was an enjoyable read overall, especially if you’re already invested in the series and the characters. I really liked the emotional side of the story, especially when it came to Koen. You could feel the weight of his guilt and everything he was carrying after the memories returned, and I thought his emotions were written with a lot of depth. Even when his actions were frustrating, it was easy to understand why he kept pulling away.
Some parts of the plot felt a little predictable, and there were definitely moments where the lack of communication between the characters became frustrating. I just wanted them to stop dancing around their feelings and actually talk to each other.
Still, the emotional tension, the growing threat of war, and the loyalty to the Ashen Wolves kept me invested. The ending left me wanting to continue with the series, even with a few frustrations along the way.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Caged and Crowned is a fantastic conclusion to the Ashen Wolves series, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The writing flows effortlessly, making it easy to get lost in the story, while the pacing feels perfectly balanced from beginning to end. It kept me engaged the entire time.

I’ve truly come to love the world Louise Clement has created—it feels rich, immersive, and emotionally grounded. Avril and Koen are such compelling main characters; they’ve both endured so much, yet their bond as mates continues to anchor them and pull them through even the darkest moments. Their journey felt authentic and deeply moving.

This book had me smiling one moment and tearing up the next, and it wrapped up the series in a way that felt both satisfying and well-earned. A perfect ending to a memorable series.

Thank you for the ARC—this is my honest review

When I say I devoured this. I did in fact devour it. I finished this gem in one sitting but also I’ve been on this journey of Avril and Keon since book 1 therefore when I got this I had to know how everything was going to end and it did not disappoint!! The way I was going through it was an understatement. Ugh. The stress and anxiety I felt, the heartbreak I felt was also unreal. Yes, there is a happy ending at the end of the tunnel but as we know there is war and in war we lose people and it was so painful. In the end though, this was the best ending I could have dreamed of. I loved this series so much and I’m sad to see it end.. well mostly right? 😏 please go read and give this entire series a chance if you haven’t already!!

Caged and Crowned is book four of the Ashen Wolves series.

We finally get to see everything come together from the three previous books in the series. Every question you had gets answered. We see the relationship between Koen and Avril struggle a bit from the events from the previous book. But Koen does everything he can to get back to where they could be happy together. There is a lot of action throughout the story. Great ending for a great series.

ARC read

This has been such a good series. I truly enjoyed this series. I will say this book was a little harder to get through. Avril thinking the only way to survive is kill all other wolves and then sacrifice herself to do that felt a little forced and also very selfish. However, as they have done foe each other time and again, Koen finds a way to save her and it end very peacefully. Great series.
