You’ve heard of arranged marriages, but nothing like this…
In Trill Land—better known as Da Trill—legacy is everything, and Pressure Mensah was born to carry it. Son of billionaires Kojo and Abeni Mensah, Pressure is a hood royal with gold in his blood and too much pride to chase anything that doesn’t worship him first. He smokes the loudest, walks like money, and don’t answer to nobody—not even the king who raised him.
But behind all the diamonds and discipline is a man still stuck on a woman he lost. Pressure don’t do closure, and he damn sure don’t do accountability. His arrogance pushes people away, his mouth cuts too deep, and his temper has the power to turn a moment into a mess. Everybody tells him to let the past go, but Pressure ain’t built like that. He’s used to getting what he wants, and when he doesn’t… somebody’s gonna pay for it.
So when his father demands he choose a wife to secure the future of their empire, Pressure is thrust into a ruthless elimination process with twenty women handpicked to love him, bear his name, and help build his empire. In the back of his mind, he figures it’ll be just another power play—something to pass the time, maybe even a way to finally move on from the woman who always had his heart.
The world calls them The Diamonds, but behind closed doors, jealousy brews, alliances form, secrets leak, and lines get crossed. Friendships shatter, and every kiss could come with a knife behind it.
Pressure thinks the whole thing is a joke—until the women start making him feel something real, something dangerous, and something he can’t control. Some of them move him, challenge him, see straight through him, and it starts to shift something in him he didn’t even know was there. The grip his ex once had on him starts to loosen, and before he knows it, he’s seeing love—and himself in a whole new light. Feelings creep in slow, catching him off guard, and now he’s stuck between pride and emotion. Now that feelings are growing stronger and the stakes are rising, one truth keeps hitting harder than the rest—He can’t keep them all. He has to choose one…
Where loyalty is tested, love is war, and only one Diamond will leave with his heart.
I like the cover and this book reminds me of flavor of love. I am good on book 2. My first book by this author and I do not think I will be going to book 2. I will like to add that I found the writing of the Black trans woman very distasteful.
So we’re following Pressure Mensah on his quest to find a wife by bringing 20 women into his home a la Flavor of Love 😅. It’s messy, okay?!
In the middle of all this chaos we’ve got best friends Pluto (terrible name, sorry 🤷🏾♀️) and Kashmere, who’s in it for the money. And of course, they let this weenie of a man come between them. Ladies… never do this!!!
Now, I love me some messy drama, so I was here for the ride. But here’s why it landed at 3.5⭐️: 1. I didn’t realize it was a series until the end—tell me upfront so I can decide if I want to wait. 2. The treatment of a certain character rubbed against my sensibilities, and I think more care should’ve been taken there.
It was a good time, don’t get me wrong—but just know what you’re walking into.
Nobody has really explained why they don’t like it so I’ll take one for the team.
The writing is nice , it starts out introducing us to our mmc who is pressure. He’s soon to take over his father’s spot in a big street business they have. The only issue is they want him married & pressure is stuck on his ex.
So his friends set him up on a dating show , the bachelor meets baddies , maybe more flavor of love. I was kind of over it at that point because I wanted a simple romance not a 1v20.
The “fmc” or one of them I guess is Pluto who decides to join the show for the money , her little sister is extremely sick , she decides to go with her best friend.
I feel like this book started off really good & then around the 50 percent mark they just started doing anything. The pov switches were ugh, once I realized the romance was nonexistent, it was just girls fighting over a man that was probably gonna go back to his first love I was irritated.
Also there was a lot of fatphobic jokes in this book regarding a contestant , he literally refused to pick her because she was “built like a linebacker”. Evb has a preference yes but it just spoke a lot about his character for me.
Another weird unnecessary comment was one of the girls saying one of them was a secret man , which led to borderline transphobic comments. Saying he’d kill the girl if she was actually a man. Like 20 girls in a house, all the drama you could create & you decide to go the transphobic route….
This book was not for me , I wish it was a normal romance but instead it’s just girls fighting over a dude who clearly just sleeping with everybody & still entertaining his ex. Didn’t care to finish. Made it like 70 percent in.

The MMC wasn’t shit and was still hung up on his first love! This was a dating show set up so there wasn’t just one FMC. I didn’t like the path the two best friends took for a man who I felt didn’t really like them to be honest. I had so much hope for Pluto but then she disappointed me. And what possessed the author to think that the fat-phobia and transphobia was cute so unnecessary. Do better!!! Another thing what did Pluto and Kashmere see in pressure that made them turn on each other. Definitely will not waste my time with book two.
I love a good read, and that is exactly what this was. It was different from the other books that I've been reading. The character development was fabulous. Everyone brought something different to the table. I love how Pressure started off, not really into it, but learned how special some of the girls were. Pluto might have gone to save her sister, but her feelings are real. She is the only female that hasn't shown a catty side. Even getting into it with her bestie, she was just defending herself. I do understand how she may feel she can't really fit into his world, but she is the only one he has taken around things that are important. I really hope she gets the prize at the end. Come on, book 2. All I'm going to say is read it, see how you feel about the characters. Also, check out all of Sha Jones books, I just love her characters. All I'm gonna say is if my girl doesn't get chosen, I'm flipping tables. lol
3 stars. I really enjoyed the premise of this book - it was giving Flava of Love/ reality dating show. But I must say, from about the highway mark, this book had gotten anticlimactic. Not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting 20 women or so fighting and f*cking for attention. When I think of millionaire arrangement marriages, I think of lots of wining and dining but nope, just wining, for sure. Sha Jones made these female characters look weak
Also, the transphobia storyline was uncalled for. I don’t like how it was handled nor the fat shaming.
Pressure with a Big D was off the chain. I did not like him or his games. That ending with the ex, the one he obsesses over, was messy, messy, and messy. The women were reality show ready in this one. I skimmed a lot because it was different. It was a young storyline. It is unlikely I will find out what happened. Give it a try, see what you think. 3.5 stars.
So so good!! I had no clue what the book is about. Which is kinda my thing because it lets me go in with an open mind. Now while it does end in a cliff hanger, the drama is good! A rich man seeks a wife and basically has his own bachelor show at his house? Count me in! I couldn’t put it down. Definitely excited for part 2! Can’t wait to see how it ends.
Sha Jones' literary talent is undeniable. I devoured this book in a single night, captivated by its engaging storyline. The author's masterful plotting kept me on the edge of my seat, as I found myself initially invested in one love interest, only to later question my allegiance. Pressure's emotional uncertainty is a dominant theme, and with a multitude of women competing for his attention, he seems unwilling to make a definitive choice. His actions are frequently driven by impulse, rather than careful consideration. A notable absence in his life is a guiding influence that encourages him to think critically about his decisions, which may ultimately lead to negative consequences. The future direction of this narrative remains uncertain, and I eagerly await the next installment. The characters have left a lasting impact on my imagination, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
One word.... Pressure!!! Good read , I definitely enjoyed the story and fell in love with the characters. It wasn't what I expected and I mean that in a good way!!
When I first started this book I was real unsure but I eventually got sucked in and baybeeeeee let me tell you! This book is so good. Normally i can predict a plot a mile away. Not this time. So many twists and just when you think you know what’s gonna happen, here come Pressure with a plot twist. I cannot wait to read the next book!! 10/10 highly recommend!
This book here took me through some shit okay. I love Pluto and she deserves to have a better life. However Kashmere stole his heart from his dick lol. Although she was wrong and isn’t a good friend. I wish they both could end up with him but kash wont go for it. I don’t understand how he let himself fall for both . I just know who ever he doesn’t pick probably will end up pregnant or he going to be cheating with one. Until one force him to choose idk this one hard to call right now. Sha idk why you did this to us and with friends no less smh.
The book started off slow. Evening out to character building. And then came the DRAMA!!
The book is about a young man who has it all, but nothing at all at the same time. His parents want him to settle down, they think it’s time. His father wants his legacy to continue. However, he doesn’t have a mate to marry. So his cousins and friend in list themselves for a search to find a wife. Then the Diamonds are born. 20 eligible bachelorettes. Who are willing to give him 6 weeks of their time, mind, body and soul. Should he want it. And stay at his mansion, with no outside influence….
Kashmere thinks that Pluto should submit an application to be chosen, while Kashmere didn’t tell her beastie she was doing it too. She said whoever gets the money will help Pluto’s sick sister, ultimately that was the sole purpose for even applying….
Somewhere along the line, things got blurred and Kashmere fell for Pressure and Pluto did too.
“I wasn’t the type to fall apart over a man, but this wasn’t just about a man”. This was about him. (Kashmere) She lied and through a tantrum for all to see…so she got her way, it was……just ugly 🤦🏽♀️
I didn’t like how Kashmere behaved. She let the “D” take her down sad and it was never the same between her and her beastie after that…..
Pluto and Kashmere started off as besties, but ended up enemies. The ex came back because she was jealous of Preasure “moving on” and he called off her wedding!!
The book kept me invested because each character “Diamond” had there own set of drama. And Pressure was ummmm...unique.
Okay, I was gonna let it slide. I really didn’t want to tear down a black woman’s book BUT this author has made this a series?! There’s a part 3 & 4 coming OUT?! Are you kidding me? This might be my most hated book I’ve read and that’s saying something. The entire storyline is extremely PICK ME as it is a Flava Flav game show esq. book but why the actual hell would you label this as an arranged marriage?! You recognize that if you arrange the marriage yourself it isn’t “arranged” at all! Like I genuinely want to cuss this author out. I was so excited to read an arranged marriage story. I thought it would be fun and different only for this BULLCRAP? I genuinely think even the author lost the plot a thousand times over!! Ugh I am putting no real spoilers so I can tell people please do no read this unless you are looking to read a book about women literally begging for a man, fighting eachother to have him rather they know eachother or not. I just hate so much that this is by a black woman. I hate that a black woman is writing this kind of garbage about what love looks like in 2025. I hope that this isn’t the authors reality and that she knows a man that loves her deeply and chooses her every day. The book is so sad this should really read as a horror story. I was 51% into book 2 just cause I wanted to give this a chance but once I realized she was still writing this! I DNF’d so quick I literally never want to hear this terrible character names again in my life.
I genuinely don’t know how I feel about this book.
One aspect that irritated me was how some of these women did so much to him but he hadn’t spent any time with them. Like huh? I’m talking background characters that brought so much out of him but was only mentioned as he was getting ready to take them out.
The whole Pluto and Kashmere storyline was annoying and let’s go ahead and add Ka’Mari azz to the mix because I’m sick of her too.
It pissed me off how it was never revealed to him what Imani did although he explicitly asked them to let him real soon. It’s almost like the author forgot since she got sent home. 🙄
And let’s not forget the cliffhanger. Why?!?! I have no desire to read the others. I’m going to go read someone else’s review of book 2 with spoilers because girl bsffr. This should not be 4 books of the competition. And if all books aren’t about the competition, then either way there shouldn’t be cliffhanger or a book 2 of the same thing. Wrap ts up in book 1.
Whew—this book sent me through it! But one thing’s for sure: Big Pluto, not the little one.
I felt like we really got to know all the ladies, especially Pressure. I’ll admit, he annoyed me at first, but as the story went on, I started to understand the “pressure” he was under. Now, that doesn’t excuse some of his actions—he definitely should’ve considered the feelings of a few of those women (and yes, even Kashmere... though I still don’t like her actions 😩).
The story just kept getting better and better and then left us hanging on a crazy cliffhanger! It was such a great read, and I can already tell this is one I’ll be rereading.
Is this meant to be like a Nollywood version of a reality show? The glaring problems are around the premise and how any character with physical differences were treated. This is not an arranged marriage book, it’s a weak mamas boy who is immature and hung up on his ex, but filling his house with weak minded, impoverished “pick me” type women to feed his pitiful ego.
Are we supposed to root for Pluto or something? She was the most unlikable character and is even called entitled by her “friend” at one point. So her best friend brought her the opportunity to improve her family life, took her shopping to prepare, acted as a support the entire time but as soon as she got attention from the guy Pluto called Kashmere jealous and stopped talking to her. But we’re supposed to think Pluto is a sweet/innocent little angel or something? The author wrote it as if being a virgin automatically makes Pluto somehow better than the rest and worthy. Then when she realized that Kasmere had been intimate with Pressure, Pluto instantly decided to go throw herself at him?! What kind of friend is that?!
Pressure is not a prize. He is abrasive, constantly smoking and violent with no buildup. He has no redeeming qualities, just a self-centered attitude and entitled personality. This took me way too long to get through because there was no one to root for. The way the author handled a character being overweight was horrible and the whole trans storyline was just too much. Overall the story was poorly executed. I don’t know how this is supposed to be a series and how it was hyped. I will not be continuing this series.
The concept of this book was so unique, but the execution was not there. By 50% I was kind of over the story as a whole. A lot of things within the story just became repetitive.
Pressure didn’t really stand out as an MMC. There were no qualities about him that made him unique or even likable tbh. & I got so tired of hearing about Ka’Mari. Like that shit was so annoying. At some point in time you gotta move on.
I knew Pluto & Kashmere were gon fall out. They both claimed they was only doing it for the money, but there is no way you think you are going to be able to spend weeks living in close quarters with this fine man & not expect to feel anything. Had they both kept it real with each other from the beginning, it probably wouldn’t have played out the way it did. Kashmere kicked it off when she lied to Pluto’s face & then turned right around and played the victim. It’s a competition, wtf did you expect? Of course this man is going to explore every option he has available! That’s literally the point! & if you know you goin get mad, baby you should’ve stayed at home.
I can’t say the ending shocked me. I’m pretty sure we all knew Ka’Mari was goin pop up. Honestly I’m not rooting for any of the women 😅 Like there isn’t any woman out of the whole 20 that I was like yeah I want Pressure to pick that one. Highly doubt I’ll read the next book, cause deadass, ion even care what happens.
*Also, plus size women should not be the butt of your joke. Everyone has a preference & that’s cool, but that whole plot point was just not needed*

I dunno if I like Pressure as a book bae yet. He definitely gives situationship with privilege vibes — chill, a lil crazy, but still unreadable. One minute he’s smooth, the next he’s calculated, and I’m just sitting here like, sir, are you confused or just playing the field?
Whew, this storyline ain’t play fair at all. I thought I knew where it was headed, but baby, the arranged marriage twist threw me for a loop. Pressure should’ve slowed down and actually learned these women before letting sex and ego blur the lines, ‘cause now he’s knee-deep in drama he helped build. I’m conflicted on who to root for, but I know one thing—Ka’Mari working my nerves. Sis waited two years to act on feelings she been hiding, and now wanna claim territory while he’s out here exploring new vibes? Girl, stand up.
Kashmere and Pluto’s friendship? Yeah, that one caught me off guard too. They were supposed to be locked in on a mission—win at all costs—but somehow loyalty got lost in translation. And baby, Lola almost didn’t make it! I’m still side-eying how that secret slipped through all these privileged, powerful people like nobody was paying attention.
I got a gut feeling about where this is headed, but I hope I’m wrong. The way it’s heating up, part two about to bring some serious smoke. And let me just say—shit just got too real.
Damn I just finished and baaaaby when I tell you Ms. Sha Jones didn’t come to play. She came through putting us book readers into a chokehold with this one here. Now this my first time reading a book by this author but it will not be my last. Pressure is that Pressure, the way he punked Donovan twice had me like that’s my man my man. I will say I hated that Pluto and Kashmere’s friendship had end over him. But I feel she knew what she was doing when she said what she said in the hot tub. I also hate that Pluto gave herself to him, I don’t think she was really ready. I think she did it out spite towards Kashmere. Now Lola should have known that her secret would come out. And Chanel and Imani knew they should have they should have said something. Because they knew how Pressure would react at them knowing but not saying anything. Now when that door bell rang. I knew who it was and I knew she was going to make statement when she walked in. Messy Messy Messy, but I am here for it. Can’t wait to book 2, because Ka’mari just changed the whole entire game.
This is my very first series by Sha Jones, and let me just say—what an introduction! Certified Pressure is exactly what the title promises: pure pressure from start to finish.
The story is action-packed with so many unexpected twists and turns that just when you thought you knew which girl Pressure was going to choose—something would happen and flip the whole situation upside down. Sha Jones kept me on my toes the entire way through.
Kashmere? She was foul the moment Pluto confided in her about her feelings for Pressure. A real friend would’ve fallen back, but Kashmere had other plans. And Toni—whew, she was smart enough to move on once she realized she wasn’t going to be the one. I respected that about her.
Sha Jones’s writing captivated my imagination in the best way. I didn’t have to guess or piece things together because every scene was vivid and well-written. The character development was spot on, and every twist in the plot was laid out with perfection.
This series had me hooked from beginning to end, and now I know why people rave about Sha Jones. I’ll definitely be diving into more of her books because Certified Pressure series left no crumbs.
Okayyyy Sha Jones did what needed to be DONE! This was giving Black, rich, hood, bachelor-style chaos — and I ate it up. Entertainment at its absolute finest.
I’m really curious to see how this “hood bachelor” setup plays out over four full books, because whew… the pressure is already applied and we’re only in book one. Consider me intrigued and strapped in.
Of course the women were catty — because what’s a competition without a little unnecessary drama? And naturally, sis who ended things with him before all this suddenly wants him back the moment she sees he’s trying to move on. Like ma’am… the timing is suspicious at best.
And let’s not forget the best friend who swore up and down that their friendship would stay solid… only to immediately let this whole situation crumble the bond like a stale cookie. Because accountability is free, but apparently not everyone can afford it.
All in all, the mess is messy-ing exactly how I need it to, and I’m genuinely excited to see who he chooses, why he chooses her, and how much more unhinged this is about to get across the next three books.
Certified pressure indeed. 📚🔥

OMG what a ride I definitely can't wait.until Certified Pressure: An Arranged Marriage, Unhinged
Pressure Menash was powerful man money and influence and sexy and could walk in the room with and demand attention without even trying. Pressure parent wanted him to chose a wife a arranged marriage to have legacy to his family. Pressure wanted to choose a wife on his own terms his cousins and best friend talk him into find his wife. 20 women in his wife space to. compete to earn the spot to be his wife. Pressure Menash was In relationship with Ka'mari so his first love they broke and she was engage to someone else. Pressure had deep feelings for all these women. Kashmere and Pluto went in for different reasons Pluto went in to get help to pay for her baby sister Zurie. Kashmere was here to support Pluto I think she had her own agenda. What a ride who will he choose now his ex- girlfriend want to work things out. Sha Jones can't wait to read Certified Pressure: An Arranged Marriage, Unhinged 2
This book took you on a rollercoaster ride indeed! Pressure went in not taking this serious and ended up having his heart pulled in multiple directions! *Spoiler* Lola, Lola, Lola…smh. There is no way she should have thought Pressure would be okay with that. That’s not something you spring on someone hoping they’ll just be cool with it. I hate that he beat her up but I can’t say that I blame him for reacting that way. Now on to the besties..I fussed so much at Pluto and Kashmere for going into this together! Bestfriends should never put themselves in a situation to be vying after the same man’s heart! When they finally had their argument and Kashmere told Pluto they weren’t friends, it actually made me tear up because I hated that for them. I can wait for book 2 and I’m actually rooting for them to reconcile…even though I don’t know how that’s going to happen
Read in under 24 hours! The plot had me hooked—I’ve never read an urban romance where the male main character is seriously out here trying to find love while dating nearly 20 women at once. Wild, messy, and entertaining as hell. Spoiler Alert: I still can’t wrap my head around why two best friends would agree to go on a show to date the same man. Like... you’re basically signing up for betrayal. And surprise, surprise—they got exactly what they asked for. And don’t even get me started on that twist. My jaw was on the floor. I was like, there’s no way she really showed up with that secret. She’s lucky she didn’t get handled for pulling something like that—playing games with the wrong one. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m already impatient for the next one. All I gotta say is: I’m team Pluto. PERIOD.
Spoilers| Read with caution: I really enjoyed this book. Loved how each of the women’s personalities were distinctly displayed. Chanel and Imani was a whole trip and glad they butts got the boot. I was hoping Pressure found out it was Imani that put those nuts in Zaniyah food to cause the allergic reaction. Lola baby, what was you thinking baby??😭 I knew that ass whooping was coming, just glad she didn’t loose her life. I was shocked to see Pressure picked Zaniyah and Toni in the end, they have a cool vibe but nothing like Kashmere and Pluto. I’m excited to jump into the next book to see who he picked between Pluto and Kashmere. Sucks that their friendship took a hit, I hope Pluto wins, especially since she done gave up the goods.
