Very cool.

description

This one is a bit more of a puzzle in terms of time jumps and what's actually happening than some of the other Absolute titles I've been reading, but this last issue helps tie a lot of it together.

description

We're introduced to Agent Cameron Chase. She seems full of bitterness and shenanigans as she sullenly chain-smoked her way through getting put on administrative leave, so I immediately gravitated toward her as someone that I would like to not only read more about, but hang out with, as well.
There are more connections to be made at the end of the issue, but this was my first time seeing this character, and I liked her. Or at least, Ewing's version of her.

description

Now for the good stuff! <--even better stuff?
We finally get some answers about all of the Lanterns and the blackness that has attached itself to Hal Jordan. Basically, John Stewart puts everyone in a big Zoom call together and starts trying to explain things. And I'm really digging Sojourner Mullein in this, too.
I won't spoil anything for you, but I thought it was great!
Of course, I'm a bit of a GL junkie, so your personal mileage may vary.

Highly Recommended.

Still very enjoyable. Losing the horror feel, but the weird space shit is getting weirder.

Absolute Green Lantern #6 leans deep into Corps lore, introducing Agent Chase, cosmic voids, and revelations that upend expectations—including the shocking return of characters thought long dead. The issue balances myth-building with attempts at clarity, using the four colors—Qard, Rao, Sur, and Aur—as layers of enlightenment that give the story a strange, almost cult-like structure. Jo Mullein’s blunt instinct grounds the narrative, keeping the human element alive amid abstract cosmic ideas. The visuals are vibrant and expressive, adding energy and atmosphere throughout, but the heavy exposition does slow the momentum. Overall, it feels like a pivotal setup issue that sets big moves in motion for both Jo Mullein and Hal Jordan, even if it sacrifices some of the urgency along the way.

It's... good? It's very convoluted, there's a ton of loe drop, and we get to see Cam.
Overall? It's a win.
LOTS of things in the air, that IF they put it all corectly, this could be a great homage to Green Lantern
(And I miss Ollie...)

Let’s go, alright finally things are starting to make a lot more sense and right when they do…the stakes get even higher! The entire issue begins and rests on one question: “How far out is the world that’s coming?” Now at first you may be like AGENT CAMERON CHASE (YEAH!!) who nodded off while waiting to talk to her boss AGENT DOUBLE and dreamed about that weird question, not understanding the weight of it. But understanding will come in time, for now we get to see these familiar characters interact as Chase is put on administrative leave and not allowed to work the evergreen case because of her emotional connection to it. More on that later, and while I really haven’t read anything with these characters (yet) I do find it cool how they are getting introduced.

But now it’s time to get some real understanding from right in the middle of the green lantern. As we left last issue we found John alive and well with the other residences, except he was shining gold. Additionally we come to find out that Guy is shining red. They explain that everything around them is OA and everyone from the town is okay, the Abin Sur is a judge of worlds, and a community is a world…just smaller. So the entire town was tested until the second stage where they were transported into the green lantern and into the presence of OA. But Oans don’t think like us, they don’t have the same perspective of people being afraid and dying. But now they are all together and are without fear. But here’s where things really start to make sense, the light that makes them up are all part of the same thing. And at the moment there are four of them

Qard - the lowest. Represents chaotic action. And is currently what Hal is dealing with.

Rao - represents restraint from action, and is the red energy Guy has taken on.

Sur- is the correct action and what Abin Sur controlled.

Aur - is total understanding…enlightenment…what John possesses

Abin means the adept, the controller, the guardian. Abin Sur was a guardian of the green light, hence the name, and his task was to find initiates for the light. Guy showed restraint so he was judged to have the red flame. Hal showed chaotic action, and now has the fear of the black hand running through him. But he questions what good that actually does? Guy explains that every flame can be commanded with understanding. But they still don’t have a full explanation, John has only scratched the surface of knowledge. You see, Aur may be the highest level…but that is a purely Oan perspective. There are others who see it the opposite direction, that Qard is the highest. And they take the dark power without restraint. The Abin Qard…the weaponers…the blackstars. So that question comes back again, how far out is the world that’s coming? How far out is the blackstar world? How far out is MOGO?! THAT’S RIGHT! BIG REVEAL! Mogo is a big planet of darkness and it is on the way! It’s all right to freak out Hal.

One thing that may confuse you is Jo’s situation. Technically she isn’t Sur. Well she is, but she more leans towards the concept of Tomar, she took the light without understanding it. She is an anomaly. She has all the power without any of the rules or information…which means she doesn’t have to follow them. And that means if Abin Sur can put the Qard into Hal…she can take it out. She reaches out to Hal and takes his hand, and then uses her power to banish the power from him, returning it into OA, as they are all the same energy. Hal is still hurt, and Jo takes him in his arms and flies out of the green lantern and speeds towards Coast City. Much to the surprise of Hector Hammond and his team, who quickly looses her. Additionally all the data they can collect on the green lantern means nothing when all it does is spray out a bunch of black goop and vanish right in front of them. They don’t know that John took it and teleported it to the moon, where he sits and waits and looks out as Mogo gets closer every day. Hey at the very least, Hector Hammond gets to call up Veronica Cale and tell her he fixed the Evergreen thing, lol.

As the issue comes to an end we check back on Chase, who on forced leave, decides to call up one of her other agent buddies to complain. The one and only masked agent SIMON BAZ!! WHOOP WHOOP! Theres my boy! He can’t tell her anything about who he is working with, which leads Chase to worry he is working with Pemberton. That wouldn’t happen to be…Sylvester Pemberton…is it?! If so…WHOOP WHOOP! Star spangled kid, Skyman, whatever he is going by! Obviously Ewing loves the infinity inc and all star squadron stuff as much as I do! First obsidian and now this!! But now we get to find out the real reason Chase was sidelined…because her wife lives in evergreen. That’s right, Cameron Chase is the ex wife of Jo!! Omg! So should have seen that coming! But as Chase is complaining to Simon about her situation…she gets a knock on the door. Only to find a very green Jo and a bleeding out Hal in her hands. She didn’t have anywhere else to go, lol, welcome back into Jo’s life Chase…what were you just saying about her screwing it up?

I wasn’t impressed with this issue either. I can see the criticism that some people have had against this series. My biggest issue isn’t that there isn’t a lot of action. There isn’t but that doesn’t matter. it’s just that meaning and depth and characterization from
what’s happening is shallow and isn’t adding a whole to the characters. I want more from the issue, maybe with adding Cameron Jo ex lover, maybe it might make it a little easier for the writer to start to cook and use that to really flesh out who everyone is. I do peep the Jo needing to be the one to save Hal because he was too far gone and he could only see the dark until someone showed the light.

Super strong ending to the arc. This one was a bit overly explanatory but a bit of overview of the lantern mythos as it exists here was helpful. The next arc seems like it will be tying in to the bigger Absolute Universe…

I miss the cosmic horror stuff that was going on but the story is still pretty good and that final page was awesome. This still feels unique and engaging and I'm curious where it is going.

This is a nice chunk of story, and our new Green Lantern's ex-wife, Cam, a fascinating character. I hope this pacing keeps up.
