I can read a man before he even opens his mouth. I know which ones are starving to be understood, which ones hide their scars in designer suits, and which ones will hand me exactly what I need just for the privilege of feeling seen. I’ve been running this game long enough to turn conversations into currency and eye contact into opportunities.
Every move I make is calculated. When I dance, my movements speak to their thoughts before I ever open my mouth. I tell their secrets with the arch of my back, answer their questions with the roll of my hips while I strip them bare mentally.
But then there’s Kendrix Givelle. A man who doesn’t ask questions, just studies the way my shoulders drop when I’m tired, the way my smile fades when the weight gets heavy.
I’ve built my world on control. On never needing anyone to hold it up for me. And yet… one look from him, and I start to wonder.. What if I’ve finally met the man who speaks my body language as fluently as I do?
Listen.... This book left me speechless....like damn you could tell it was leading up to something, but the way it went from 0 to 5000 and ENDED was crazy 😧
Whew let me back up. All those warnings in the beginning of the book make so much sense now. This was a layered love story, wasn't nothing about it easy going. Niveah had the weight of the world on her shoulders. At the age of 12 she "became her mother’s keeper. Her brother’s mother. And her own damn savior." She became a hustler, a survivor doing what she needed to do to take care of herself and her brother with a few bumps along the way. Now 16 years later she was thriving. Very clear of who she was and refused to accept anything less than security and elevation. I loved Niveah because she was human, and even though her moments of vulnerability she made sure everyone she cared for was good. Kendrick has no idea who he was encountering. He was used to being that 🥷🏾 He didn't have to do too much when it came to women, because he was rich, fine, and again that 🥷🏾 Little did he realize Niveah was about to bring him to his knees. These two have a crazy connection and it was felt! I loved the pace, the author fed us a little bit at a time and tbh still left us hungry 🥴😩🥴😩
I thought it was going to end predictably with Arlette acting a fool or even the Father being someone she messed with in the past, but clearly I was deeply wrong. The plot twist was twisting you hear me. I can't wait for the next book.
SN: I love that this was way different than the first book. I appreciate the range.
WTF was that ending ?? I love the book don’t get me wrong but … we don’t need a book 3. Could have just wrote another 200 pages to end the story so we can move on to the next brother. I feel like I can already predict what book 3 will be. Hell Im happy if this is just the ending but dragging it seems unnecessary.
Niveah, also known as Niv or Miss Communication, was a character I loved ever since being introduced to her in *Body Count*. Her confidence and vulnerability shone through, and she truly embodied the girl she believed herself to be. Niv became a mother figure to her younger siblings, assuming a parental role before she was truly ready. This responsibility left her with little time to focus on her relationships with men. Although Niv may come off as harsh at times, understanding the reasons behind her behavior reveals the complexities of her situation. Kendrix had no idea what he was getting into when he met her, but he was determined to pursue her because he knew what he wanted from the start. Their connection was instant, filled with undeniable chemistry.
Ms. Author, why did you end the book like that?! 😭😒
Baby, Netra did it AGAIN. I swear this woman knows how to put her foot in a story and make you feel it deep in your bones. Body Language? Yeah, that title ain’t just cute-it’s layered, it’s lived, it’s survival and seduction wrapped up in one explosive ride. September 4 can’t come fast enough because I NEED MORE!
Niv. My God. This woman is the definition of survival with swagger. First-born daughters, y’all gon’ feel this in your soul. She carried her siblings when the adults failed, built armor over scars, and still walked through hell with her chin up. She doesn’t finesse men with her body…she finesses them with her aura, her presence, her refusal to bow. And when you realize the why behind her walls? It’ll gut you. I wanted to fight for her, cry for her, and toast a glass in her honor all at once. Niv’s explosion…hit hard.
Kendrix? Man. He walked into a storm and refused to leave. Most dudes would’ve said “forget her” after the first round of her walls, but he knew what he wanted and stayed locked in. Respect. Their connection? Instant. Chaotic. Addictive. Messy in the most human way. This is what happens when passion and pain collide- when communication breaks down and body language says everything words won’t.
And let’s talk about that ending… Netra, why you do us like that?!! That cliffhanger is straight disrespectful, but I loved every minute of it.
This book is raw. It’s bold. It’s for the girls who know the weight of responsibility and the men who dare to love them anyway. It’s a love letter to survival, to vulnerability hidden behind sharp tongues and smart mouths, to the miscommunication that can destroy us but also make us real.
If you’re into urban romance with grit, drama, spice, quotables, and the kind of energy that keeps you cussing at the pages—yeah, this one’s it! Niv’s story was worth the wait, and I devoured it. Thank you for the ARC Netra!
Romance does not pay the bills and Niveah stands firm on that belief. The oldest daughter and guardian of her siblings. Niveah has been in survival mode for as long as she can remember. So when club owner Kendrix comes along she’s got a 12 foot gate around her heart.
We initially met Niveah and Kendrix in Body Count, and now we get to see how these two came to be and their whirlwind romance. Although Niveah is guarded and in her I don’t fall for 🥷🏾 era, Kendrix does not give up easy when it comes to her.
There was no shortage of banter, drama, toxicity and of course sex in this book. These two were perfect together.
That ending though 🤯😳 Netra owes me for emotional distress.
(This book does end on a cliffhanger and there will be another part)
Body Language by Netra Antionette is sensual, sharp, and emotionally layered in the best way. The story follows a woman who reads men like a second language and moves through the world with intention, confidence, and control. She’s soft when she chooses, steel when she needs to be, and her power shows in every calculated step.
Then Kendrix enters. Quiet, observant, and fully tuned in. He sees what she doesn’t say, listens to what her body reveals, and meets her energy with a calm that feels intimate and grown. Their connection is a slow burn built on being seen instead of being studied.
And just when everything starts cracking open, Netra hits us with a cliffhanger that snatches my breath and leaves me hungry for the next chapter.
Netra. The cliffhanger…..come on now Check your triggers.
Niv. My girl. You’ve been through it all. The cycle of addiction, betrayal, abandonment, is intense. The immense weight and rage she felt all through this book was so strong, I felt like I was living through it with her. I was so angry FOR her. You held it together for your babies!!!
Kendrix. Dude. You are stuck in a very bad place. How can you choose? Should you choose? I admire you for your determination and strength throughout this book with Niv. She was workin you and you held on. The wounds have cut deep. And they cut even deeper at the end. At what point do you not let your family prevent you from your family ya know what I mean?
Before I get to my review I want to say there is an Author's Note in the beginning of this book and all I can say is read it and take head.
The book took me on a ride with Niveah and Kendrix and as you get deeper into the book you understand more of where both of them are coming from. Niveah has experienced some things in her past that force her to grow up at a young age to take care of herself and her siblings. As she gets older she learns how to use her mind, mouth and body to get what she wants from guys without even opening her legs. When she first crosses paths with Kendrix there is an attraction there on both parts but she lets it be known that she isn't going to follow after a man and that he isn't going to just tell her to do things and she is going to listen. Kendrix has to learn it is her rules her way.
The more these characters are "together" I found myself wanting them to be together but also respecting how Niveah moved because Kendrix wasn't giving her what she wanted from him to move differently. They both had some trauma that they went through in their past that played a role in their actions but once they became vulnerable with each other and laid everything out on the table it helped them to get clarity on the other and move differently together. Just when I thought it was over BAM! The ending still had me like what......
I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait until the next one! Thank you Netra for the ARC.
I can’t express enough how much I loved the fcuk out of this book. Once you start, you literally cannot stop. Body Count was amazing, but with Body Language Netra had her foot on our necks and refused to let up.
And let me just say…Niv is nothing to play with. I loved her strength, her confidence, and the fact that she was unshakable. She’s stronger than me, because the way Kendrix would’ve had me folding… lol.
Now Netra, I do have a bone to pick…why would you end the book like that?! I was sitting there tearing up, stuck, staring at the last page like… no way she just did that. 😭
All I know is, I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I was ready yesterday. The things I would do to get my hands on it right now…😂.
Body Language was a HIGHLY anticipated read for me and I was honored to receive an ARC.
Niv is a midnight ballerina with so many layers… many for protection. I enjoyed seeing those layers revealed as she stepped on necks left and right.
Kendrix thought Niv was the typical woman but quickly learned otherwise. She required him to be an even better man in ways he didn’t realize he was ready to explore.
And the plot twist… I’m still not well but cannot WAIT 😩🫶🏽
I finished this book days ago. Legit, days ago because this is one of them books that will leave you stuck staring at a wall. I could not even begin to express the feelings I had after finishing Body Language. I thought Netra did her big one when she dropped Body Count, but she came back swinging and said SURPRISE!
First of all, I absolutely love Niv a.k.a. MissCommunication and if you don't go reread the book because something is clearly wrong with you. She is a strong independent woman, who can read you like a book, taking care of everyone else's responsibilities as her own because without her, her siblings would have fallen through the cracks. She is confidence wrapped in sophistication and poise but don't let that fool you she does not play about herself or hers.
Kendrix is a man who is not told no often but cannot resist the immediate magnetic pull of Niv. He has no idea what's in store for him going down this path.
This is a 10 star read from the ending alone but the whole book is honestly so good and unputdownable. I just need to say one last thing to Ms. Netra and that you know you dead wrong for that ending because why would you do that!
Go download this the second it drops, you won’t be mad that you did.
My mouth is still on the floor and I read this book a couple of days ago.
The storyline - Top tier!! The characters - love them down!! The writing - So dag on descriptive that you would have thought you were watching a movie (I was at the club too)
Did the book leave me wanting more? Yes, because the way I wanted to hit up Ms. Netra Antionette herself and ask her for the next book by tomorrow weighed heavily on my mind. (The way this book ended was the perfect ball drop if I had ever read one.)
I enjoyed this read. She did what she needed to do for her and her siblings. I wasn’t expecting the ending to be like that but dang. I can’t wait for the next book because I want to know what happened.
Whew Chile! I just knew this story was going to end with a nice little bow, but no. That was not the case. You decided that you want to throw us off the cliff. My mouth is still open. Let me close it before something flies in it. I can’t wait for the 3rd book. You fooled the hell out of me!
The ending left me shook! Everything went from 0-100 real quick! I get Niv’s strength and how she had to grow up fast due to her circumstances. However, I feel like the hard to get was too much lol like we get it girl you a bad bih and all but let that man love you!
Thank you to the author Netra Antionette for allowing me access to this beautiful chaotic story. When she said this story had layers like an onion she meant it and whatever she’s cooking she definitely sticking her foot in it. This story was so raw, gritty, and bold; it’s not your average love story so don’t go into it looking for lovey dovey, sex-filled, my man, my man, my man because this ain’t that!
Niv, that girl is strong, resilient, and knows how to get what she needs to survive and provide for her siblings. And nothing or no one is getting in her way of doing that. Her weapon is her mouth, no not the way you’re thinking. “God gave you a mouth and a mind before he gave hips. So, why lead with your ass when your intellect clears checks too?”
Kendrix, now he must like playing with fire but he never backed down. He knew what he wanted and stood on business…or did he?
Netra, it’s currently 6:50am and that endinggggg, UUUUGH, that’s how i’m starting my day. So now i’ll be thinking about it all day lol. One, I didn’t expect that but also i’m not surprised. Two, i’m going to go scream into the pillow now like you told me to. Three, I’m going to sit in my seat and wait for the intermission to be over but I’m going to to do it impatiently 🙃
If you love P-Valley or maybe even Black is Beauty you’ll definitely enjoy this story.
I received Body Language by Netra Antionette as an ARC read and baby, the pen was penning. My girl Niveah is that girl, you hear me? She knows her worth and knows how to use what she’s got to get what she wants. And I’m not talking about laying on your back to get what you need out of men. No ma’am. Niveah has the mouthpiece of mouthpieces and the moves of a Vegas card dealer smooth, calculated, and will have you broke before you even realize you sat at the table.
Enters Kendrick. My boy didn’t know what was about to happen to him, but off first glance he was down for whatever. When they find out each other’s “why,” it’s like two puzzle pieces finally snapping together messy edges and all. The ending though? So unexpected, it has me dying for more.
This book, in the words of Netra, is not just sex on pages with a plot thrown in like parsley on top of takeout. This story has layers. Layers like an onion, a croissant, or that wig your cousin swears is “natural.” And baby, she was not wrong. It’s not overly sexed out, and I can appreciate that in this book it was just enough.
Bottom line: Body Language gave what it was supposed to give. Run, don’t walk, to grab this one when it drops. As always read your triggers
Niveah is in a lane of her own. Clever is an understatement. After being forced to assume the parental responsibility of her siblings, she has learned to thrive with the hand she’s been dealt. Her methods don’t compromise her moral compass.
She has found a way to infiltrate the core of a man, but not in an insidious or overtly intrusive manner. With all the things she is responsible for she can’t afford to make poor decisions.
Kendrix intrigues her. The comfort they find in each other is something they didn’t know they were lacking. They find a level of truth in their bond that was once unattainable.
This isn’t a soft and fluffy romance novel. While there is a romance that occurs throughout these pages, I think the story being told is more about perseverance. It’s about the value of being ten toes down in your convictions. It’s about not folding or breaking the rules you make for yourself. It’s also about not denying the possibility for something outside of the realms of your ideas for the future.
ARC Review: I loved that this was not your typical ending lol. That means I have more of Niv and Kendrix to unfold! I know trouble is in the mist and they are going to figure it out one way or another. But their connection is so powerful and the way he reads her “Body Language” is impressive and impeccable.
The strength of a woman is like no other, Niv proves this time and time again. But at what cost?, her heart, true love? With the weight of the world on her shoulders she continues to strive and make it through some of the most unfathomable situations. She built up a wall and it will take more than a boulder to kick it down. Will the past be too much for them to bare? Will Niv’s wall come crumbling down?
Miscommunication…. “Making love to a man’s mind before I ever touch his body. Most of them don’t even realize they gave me the keys to the whole car until I’m halfway down the highway.” 😮💨
Kendrix…. “I’m used to pretty. But she didn’t move like she was performing. She moved like she was at peace. Like the pole was a prayer and her body was the scripture.”
I was not expecting this book at all. Surprised to say the least not that I didn’t think it could be done because body count was everything. When I tell you the chemistry is coming off the pages. The gems that Niv “Miss Communication” gives 👩🏾🍳😘. Niv is very independent and hold her loved ones closer than close all while never getting the childhood or young adulthood she was supposed to experience. Taking care of everyone else's responsibilities as her own because without her, her siblings and momma would have fallen through the cracks. But it didn’t stop one thing. Your girl knew how to play the game and was guided through it like an expert and settled for nothing less than. There is so much to say about this book, but I swear you need to read it for yourself you wont be disappointed. However when she meets her match the haze is lifted and Kendrix walks in and allows Niv to be soft and allow someone to carry her and her problems. Baby that damn cliff hanger took me out. Now you knew you was going to have us all ready to beat down your door Mrs. Antionette. We didn’t need a book two we could have just read a 500 pg book and would have been happy about it. Ill be back for pat. 2 through but please don’t have us out her bad waiting too long.
Thank you so much to Netra Antionette for the ARC!! I'm honored to be one of the first 50!!
This was my first ever Netra Antionette book, and this was a wild ride i can not lie. This book had a lot of the characteristics I usually.....am not quite a fan of- the characters talking to the reader, song lyrics, instant love...it was a lil rough at first. HOWEVERRRRRRRRRRR GIRLLLLLLLLLL. The last 10% saved the ENTIRE book for me. The writing was super well done, but I have a hard time immersing my mind into a book if the main character keeps breaking the forth wall to speak to me as the reader. It sometimes makes me have a hard time diving into the story itself. But WOWWWWW the endingggg i LOVEDDDDDDDDD. Like absolutely loved. I wish more books ended like that- the suspense the wonder, the emotion??? The gasp that left my body sucked all the air out of my room basically. I WILLLLLLL be reading the next book because i need to know what happens!!!
If I can count on one thing, it’s a Netra Antoinette book to TAKE. ME. THROUGH. ITTTTTTTTTTT. We met Niveah in Body Count, but her book was NOTHING like Rivah’s. Niveah wrote the playbook on keeping it playa with these niggas. From the beginning of the book, she’s dropping her gems of her chaotic lifestyle. Kendrix on the other hand, happens to run into Niveah while she’s working for his new club and he’s immediately hypnotized….what could go wrong??
I REALLY enjoyed this book! Netra’s writing has a way of immersing you in the story & really contemplating what you’d do in the MC’s perspective. I would PAY GOOOODT MONEY to experience GivGold on a night MissCommunication is performing 🤩 AND THE ENDING?! Not expecting that literally AT ALL. I love a good plot twist you dont see coming and it was exactly that!
Body Language delivers irresistible chemistry, mind games, and a romance built on unspoken connection. You’ll feel the thrill of every heated glance, the tension in every encounter, and the exhilaration of two Alphas clashing.
Niveah lives life on her own terms. Her experiences have given her the ability to finesse anyone without giving up any part of herself, physically or mentally. She radiates alpha female energy, but could she finally meet her match?
Kendrix is a man who doesn’t have to speak; everyone feels his presence the moment he enters a room. Observant and commanding, he’s needed in more ways than one.
When Niveah sets her sights on Kendrix as her next challenge, she doesn’t realize she may have finally met someone who can outplay her. Their entanglement is a high-stakes game of chess and in this match, there can only be one checkmate.
First of all let me just say that Niveah “Ms. Communication” “Niv” is still that b!tch and been that b!tch since Body Count! The way she switches gears from guardian to her siblings, to Boss, to “therapist” all while staying in her lane and getting to the bag is the ultimate. Kendrix that man needs no introduction. Fine with a capital F! The chemistry between Niv and Kendrix you could just feel radiating through the pages! Now Ms. Netra “pen game strong” you can write the fck outta a book, but why would you leave me staring at a wall for 2-3 business days after that ending. I’m still stuck after reading it, and I’m stuck about it lol! When I tell you I am waiting on that next book like Christmas - I mean that with my whole chest. Where is the 10-star rating because that’s exactly what this book deserves!!!
Come outside for a second, I just want to talk about that CLIFFHANGER?!?! Whew it's gonna take me a minute to recover from that.
This book was highly anticipated for me - absolutely couldn't wait to know Niv's story and she didn't disappoint. Chef's kiss to a woman who sets a standard and keeps it when it really matters. Netra does an amazing job of setting the scene and getting you prepared from the author's note. Please don't cheat yourself by skipping that.
Niv & Kendrix were so easy to fall in love with as a pair. They felt like that authentic best friends vibe that makes you giggle and rub your feet together in joy. The banter was fun and the sex...whew.
I do wish it would have just been 150 pages longer and wrapped up in 2 books vs adding a part three.
Ms. Netra has done it again. If I thought Rivah was gagging the girls, Niveah was giving EVERY damn body a run for their money.
Besides that, our good sis had so much going on between securing the bag and taking care of her siblings, and the occasional drop-in on her mother who struggles with addiction.
Despite having her plate full, Niv still manages to make sure she’s outside securing the bag from men, and our good sis LOVES a good eater, lol.
When Kendrix comes along applying pressure, Niv tries her best not to fall but that’s a VERY good man.
HOWEVER. It ends on a cliffhanger that almost made me throw my kindle across the room. Definitely hurry up and read this one so you can bully Nedra with me lmao
