Oh my sweet gods of regretful purchases ... I bought 3 books of these series 5 years ago for $12. Reading reviews for these books made me feel like crying because it's just stupid juvenile teenage immature behavior. In my defense I bought them after EASY, and at a time I wasn't part of GR and never thought of reading reviews. I wish I could have my $12 back to spend in more enjoyable things as STARBUCKS. I am so not reading these books. My $12 is flushed down the toilette bowl. What a pity
I LOVED this series. Seriously each book was better than the next! The series gives the reader a glimpse of the life of young Hollywood stars...their romances/relationships with each other and their parents, career choices, substance abuse, etc. Book 1, Between the Lines, is mostly Emma and Reid's story. I gotta say I was not really a fan of Reid at first (don't count him out, keep reading!) I was hooked after the first book. I really like the different POV's per chapter, it makes the story so dimensional reading it that way. Book 2, Where You Are, is a continuation of Emma and Reid with Graham and Brooke's POV mixed in as well. This is where we first get a sliver of growth on Reid's part and mostly wrap up Emma and Graham's story. Book 3, Good For You, is the story of Reid and Dori. At the start of this book Reid is sort of at rock bottom. I LOVE how much Reid grows in this book and I love Dori's character. She really challenges Reid. Book 4, Here Without You, is my FAV of this series. It tells the story of Reid, Brooke, Dori, and River. I have to say I love the relationship between Reid and Dori, how he learns to read her and how their roles within the relationship almost reverse by the end as far as who is helping whom. It's a happy ending, which I prefer, and I felt like everyone made the right choices in the end, although some made some BIG mistakes on their way to those choices. REALLY enjoyed the series, but not surprising if you know Tammara Webber and her writing...she's incredible!
This book and it brothers and sisters are really meant for teenagers. I struggled to see the series through but there was just enough interest to help me hang in there. It did enlighten me as to how the youth in the land of movies experience life but that little positive pocket is not enough for me to recommend anyone over 20yrs to read it.
Emma got a leading role in a high school movie. She crushes on her drool worthy co-star Reid. She's never had a role this huge before. She gets to know all of her cast mates including Reid and Graham. Graham kissed her one evening, then the next she kissed Reid. The kiss ends up in the tabloids. She's a virgin and dating a guy with a bad reputation. Then Reid sleeps with a few random cast mates. Emma moves on.
Emma can't forget the kiss she shared with Graham months ago. She visits NYC with her father to check out universities. While in a coffee shop she runs into Graham and his daughter Cara. Determined to have her best friend fall in love with her, Brooke schemes to get Graham away from Emma. She includes Reid on the scheme too. He obliges but isn't too invested in an outcome with him being with Emma. Brooke gets caught in her lies. Her friendship with Graham immediately ended.
Reid drove his new Porsche into a house. He has to do several weeks of community service to help repair the damages to the house that Habitat for Humanity was building. He met Dori, an 18 year old who's not star struck. She denies her feelings for him because he is an egotistical celebrity. He fights for Dori until he gets her.
Reid accepts that he is the father of the boy Brooke gives up for adoption when he was 15. Brooke finds out he's been neglected and tries to adopt, River, their son. Reid is afraid to tell Dori about River. Anyway, it works out for all of them in the end.
These books were in multiple POVs. The editing was good.
The series just got a special place in my heart! The plot is full of surprises, the characters are charming and the Hollywood movie stars life style is a exciting set for the story to be placed. Each character is given an ending worthy of their journey. Tamara Webber uses the alternating narrator approach, wich I like it a lot. Read it!!
I didn't realize that these are high school and barely older kids so there's all this teenage drama that made me roll my eyes and yell "grow up!" several times. But there were a few good plots and a couple of surprises about it so I gave it 3 stars.
