The finale of the Demon Accords series and Mr Conroe really stuck the landing. Lots of old familiar characters make appearances, and l must say l'm quite disappointed in Roma, Chris's old commanding officer when he was a cop.

All of the loose strings are tied in neat little bows.

this dragged on far too long as a series. The power creep was very unbalanced. The last few books have been tedious rather than exciting.

Worst Book of the Series !!!

It was an easy read.
It was a good read.

But it was a bloody lazy way to end it & so many other characters like Caeco were missing or not mentioned. I appreciate the length & depth of the series but there was something missing from this book that all the others had.

The ending sucked to be honest!

glad it’s over

This is not the same series that started with some rookie cop from Upstate NY hooking up with a vampire.

I enjoyed the series. Very much so when Declan showed up. But it needed to end. The power levels had gone plaid.

Feels Rushed

Love the series, but this ending felt like checking boxes so everyone could move on. No holes, just far inferior to books earlier in the series.

Great Ending

This was a great ending to a saga. Author wrapped up the series in a meaningful way and left it open to explore in other areas.

A good end to a great series

Wraps it up nicely and ties up many loose ends while teasing a sequel series. If you are a fan you should be pretty happy with the outcome

Sentimental end to my favorite series

This has been my favorite book series for almost as long as he has been writing it and it was a good ending to a very, very good series. I will be rereading this series for years and years and years.

The last couple of books were really good, but this final entry really disappointed me. It didn't make much attempt to tie off many of the plot points raised in the previous two books, or even those raised in this book!

What I expected and didn't see:

* The outcome of Declan and Stacia's story, after all the buildup with his changed appearance and desire to fade from the public eye. So they have a child now, so what? Is that an ending? What about the "centrioles" problem brought up by Caeco's mother? Is Declan dying? Do we care?
* The outcome of Chris and Tanya's story, and Barbiel's. What was even their reason to be self-fallen?
* The follow-up from the epilogue of Blood Cull, with the Queens of Faerie plotting against Earth and Declan.

* Some equilibrium reached between Gaia, Omega, and the culled Earth population. Do the nations learn to work together, or remain at war over diminished resources? I presume the Vorsook get strongarmed into a ceasefire, but how do the Earthlings react?
* Why all the buildup of US government and politicians trying to prosecute Declan and Stacia? It goes absolutely nowhere and we have no clue where it goes after that.
* The Twofer solution for the Vorsook and Hell is clever and potentially exciting and fun, but appears to have no effect on either of them. After it, Hell remains unhappy and aggressive, so do the Vorsook. And we hear about the effects third-hand, so the excitement is really toned down. It really ends up being a non-event. Both of them require even more drastic measures afterward.
* Chris narrates every other chapter but nothing actually happens in his chapters!
* Some purpose for the Coven. Any purpose at all. Vampires can't or won't go to the new planet, but they don't really have much to do on Earth. Or do they? Who knows?

All in all, the last book seemed choppy, more episodic than usual, with each episode being shorter and less interesting and less conclusive than usual.

Declan, Stacia, Chris and Tanya are now all overpowered and their enemies are basically intimidated or vanquished. That's nice, but now they have no real purpose on earth, they've pissed off most world leaders as well as those of Hell, and their remaining time on the planet will be spent... raising kids?

It sounded more like a setup for the next series than an ending, honestly.

At first, the book felt a little rushed, and some of the dialogue seemed slightly off in tone and pacing. However, by the second half the story found a much better rhythm and the flow improved considerably. Once it settled, the narrative felt more cohesive and engaging.

I think the main storylines were concluded, or at least guided toward logical and satisfying directions. It was emotional in its own way. While not every thread was wrapped up neatly, it felt intentional, and perhaps some elements will be explored further in the Demon Accords Generations expansion.

The change in narrator was initially jarring. From what I understand, that decision came from Audible rather than the author, though the exact reasons are not clear. Whether it was a budget decision or contract negotiations, it does take some adjustment. That said, Connor Brannigan is not a bad choice. By the second half, I found it easier to shift gears and settle into the new voice performance.

As for character development, I thought the growth of the two leads, Chris and Declan, was handled well. Their arcs show maturity and change, even when those changes may not fully align with earlier expectations.

It can be difficult to conclude a series when the stakes grow to such a scale. We are talking about different planes, different systems, and events affecting multiple planets. I have read a lot of books, and this ranks fairly high on my list for satisfying series endings. I will be around to see what John Conroe writes next, and I look forward to the Demon Accords Generations expansion.

And with Bloodlines The Demon Accords comes to an end. What began as a fun story about a cop and a vampire morphed over the years to the Declan show. This book is no different. Sure, there were so well-deserved comeuppance issued to the politicians. But even as I was saying, “Yes!” Chris was explaining why it was the wrong tactic. I said a few books back that Declan is now akin to a god. This book showed how true a statement that was. There was very little action, the first coming finally coming at 3/4 of the way through. Mostly, the book read like one long field manual. I still love the series, but this book will doubtfully ever be read again. The little bits here and there of call-outs to past characters are not worth the boredom of the rest. Having the book jump back and forth between Decland and Chris’ perspectives is another. This should have been third person.

So, with a total of 28 books (all of which I own), I would say that having only three books get 3-star ratings is a pretty good indicator that overall, the years of reading The Demon Accords was time well spent.

After 24 books, the series ends. Given the strength of the first 3/4 of the series, I had hopes that it would end on a high note, but this series had gone so far down the "Lensman Arms Race" track, that a satisfying conclusion was going to be very difficult. And Conroe was not up to that task.

The characters were flat and uninteresting, and they had only a weak semblance of growth. The plot was mostly offscreen, and the world didn't follow its own rules (because those rules made telling an interesting story impossible, I suspect.)

The good thing is that the storylines were tied off, but they were tied off in the least interesting way possible, largely by authorial fiat, not by natural story evolution.

Overall, the first 3/4 of the series was exceptional, and if I had just dropped it after book 17, it would have been a favorite. Unfortunately, after book 17, the only books worth reading were the ones that told the stories of peripheral characters. None of the mainline books was worth the money to buy or the time to read.

outstanding urban fantasy!!!

I read tons of Urban Fantasy, and one of my favorite elements is how the author decides on the interaction of modern people and technology with the supernatural. This series brings the relationship of supernaturals and modern tech to a whole new level! How deep the story goes with science, government, and real human emotions and interaction with the supernatural world. By far, John Conroe relates the most realistic approach of any author I've read! And, the plot lines are so superb, I can't put this book down! Amazingly real characters, nonstop unpredictable plot twists, emotional growth, superbly written dialogue, and a fallible MC you want to route for! In fact, the only negative of this series is how it has effected my sleep! I;m up all night reading these nonstop pager turners! Thank you John, you master word-smith!

Wanting more

I've read this book a couple of times now to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
It's absolutely setting up for the new series of tales you're writing. However, as the final chapter of the Demon Accords, it was pk, good even, but I wanted more. I was hoping for a grand ending. A major battle with Chis Declan and all against evil, similar to the fights in earlier novels. Instead, it's an AI directing and narrating a battle far away with little or no input from the others.
Based on this I am looking forward to you new series I just wish the 21st novel of a great series that brought me back to books was more about the Accords

Hmmm ....

Hmmm.... Yes, very enjoyable read. Actually, from start to finish. I did not put it down even for the toilet and food breaks . The storyline is bold, entertaining and thoroughly rivetting. Ok at the end I was expecting a little more of a profound finish to it all, it felt half hearted, but the other 99% was rather good. I am actually going to re-read it tomorrow, not tonight as I'm a bit pooped and need a nap. I've been reading for 6.5 hours, sod pooped, I'm knackered. Please do read it though and if like me, please give a shout out to Johnny boy.... ENCORE, just one more please ?

This ends a series that was surprisingly compelling and fun, though I think it went on too long and with the main characters becoming so overpowered that there was no suspense left. When Declan can throw a moon into a planet, destroying both, because his newborn was threatened, then we have reached preposterous proportions. I still liked the main characters, but the only real question was "when" the good guys would destroy the bad guys, never "whether" they would. While this final volume was less than ideal, I am glad to report that Conroe has started a new "second generation" series in the same world. The first volume truly recaptures the magic of the original series.

Where to Begin

To start, a big Thank You to Mr. Conroe. These stories have been a real pleasure to read.
This story, 'Bloodlines' is a good stopping point for the current timeline. Most everyone lives and the Vorsook get their butts kicked.
There are many points I would have enjoyed to see expanded upon but the book would be another 500 pages long. Another 50 stories, ala the Doc Savage series, would be great but that's neither here nor there.
I look forward to the next series Mr Conroe writes.

The last book of a long series. Kudos to Conroe for evolving the story. He ties up a lot of subplots with this book mostly successfully. Our original story of a cop who turns out to be an amnesiac angel ends up as the support mechanism for bringing forth the steward of the earth who puts things to right in much of the multiverse, quite a stretch.
The series perhaps has lost some of its charm with the introduction of the near invincible Declan as steward, but worth the read for devoted fans.

The Bittersweet End

I absolutely loved this series. It is fast paced, constant action, with something for everyone; demons, elves, weres, angels, dragons, and advanced AI...Oh, My! I have followed this whirlwind of a tale since the beginning and can't recommend it enough. The ending isn't as smooth as I would have hoped. It felt very rushed, like he had to meet a deadline, and ended up leaving cliffhangers for both major battles, but with the spin off series, I have high hopes that he will explain things better then.

I really wish they had kept James Patrick Cronin as the narrator.

Sometimes the only way I knew if it was Chris or Declan was because of the chapter title. Sometimes I'd hear the voices switch between the two characters.

I also noticed that a few times Chris sounded younger or like a teenager while Declan sounded more mature and like an older adult.

The story was ok. It was an ending but I think it was spoiled by the narrator. I think he'd do better narrating something else that isn't as established.

Ugh I wish it didn’t have to end! I love this series!

A great conclusion to a great series by Mr Conroe. The story this time is very fast paced with action happening at almost every chapter. It’s going to be tough to say goodbye to some of my favorite characters but I’m excited to hear that some may make a cameo in the new series Expansion. Now I only have to wait till that book comes out!

Absolutely Amazing

This has been one of my favourite, and most repeated read series ever! I am very sad to see it end, I have always enjoyed Declan's arcs in particular, so I am very happy to know that there is a legacy series and hope to see the family again.

What a brilliant conclusion, flawless writing, and such a gripping storyline that made me lose sleep happily.

See you all soon in the near future.

Fantastic and fun read.

The Demon Accords is an enthralling, exciting, and thoroughly entertaining series of "can't put down" books that keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation. Thankfully, John Conroe is a prolific writer, so that the wait for the next book is a quarter of the time in comparison to other favorite author's series. This series is your next great read, enjoy!

Closure in all the necessary areas, and a nice teaser for what's to come. This story is told by alternating Chris and Declan, just like Declan's internship when he came into his own and rose to prominence. The conclusion was perhaps not as final as some may have hoped - villains still remain though much diminished.

Along with significant setup for the new series, there was also considerable foreshadowing in areas that will become relevant in future books.

Awesome!

Waiting for this book was painful. But well worth it. I've already read it twice and will probably read it again in a week. May reread the entire series.

Really enjoyed every book and your writing style (some authors books are easier reads than others). Can't wait to see how you continue the next generations story.

A hint of a fantastic new book coming soon

A great story as always, I imagined how difficult it was to finish such a compelling storyline.
Never imagined the White Wolf giving birth to.
I look forward to reading the forthcoming book.
God Touched such a wonderful story to start the series with Bloolines at the end.

The end of the beginning!

I love this series so much. I enjoyed this book so much I don’t have words. I can’t wait for the next generation to get on set. I won’t tell spoilers but if you don’t read this book and love this series you’re crazy. I have purchased every book and have yet to be disappointed. Please keep it coming.

Big bang

I started reading Tolkien over 55 years ago. Never thought I could appreciate and admire another authors work to the same extent but I have been proven wrong. I fell in love with these characters from the start. I have read the books multiple times and listened to them on Audible multiple times also. I thank you sir for the many hours of being taken to your world.

fantastic series

Praise for John Conroe and the Demon Accords series. Action, great characters, new story that hasn’t been done before. I found myself liking so many of the characters and some of the books focused on individual ones. That only brought the readers closer to them. Job well done and I tip my hat to you.
