Powerfully retold for today's readers, Herman Melville's tragic adventure story remains as thrilling and atmospheric as when it was first published over 100 years ago. Longing to go to sea, Ishmael signs up for a voyage on the whaling ship Pequod. The ship's captain, Ahab, soon reveals his true mission. He wants revenge on the whale that maimed him. The chase takes Ishmael to the other side of the world and ends in a terrifying fight for survival.

Melville,Herman(pp 161)Moby Dick(usbourne publising LTD.)London

Their she blow's! Captain she's off the starboard bow. Arm the harpoons men she's a big one. Ishmeal is going to have a real adventure on his hands. I wonder what was he thinking. He sure is going to see more than just the world.

It started one stormy night. Ishmeal was trying to find an affordable inn to stay at. He found one but no rooms were avaliable. The landlord said he could stay with a whaler up stairs. The next day the whaler said "are you going to stay with me again". Ishmeal said "yes". So the whaler(Queequeg) said we are now brothers then.Queequeg said he could choose the whale boat they would go on a three year voyage with and he picked the peqoud. A few days later they left. A week after leaving was when the captain finally showed his face. He said their main job was not just collect oil from whales but it was to kill moby dick. After a while they caught a whale and took the oil. they got many barrels of oil. They came across another whale boat that had dried up whales which can cause a plague. The other boat let them go and went on thier way. Queequeg got a fever and was dieing. Out of will power he snaped out of it. towards the end they found moby dick and went on pursuit. The whale killed everybody except for Ishmeal. He spent one day and night drifting until the whale boat Rachel came and saved him.

I would recommend this book to people who like adventure stories or history in a way. I liked the adventure. It was told like a story. Go out thier and find this book.

Moby Dick is set in the early 1800's and starts on Nantucket island. A sailor named Ishmael has been on land to long and needs a change of scenery. Ishmael has been on many ships as a sailor , getting paid for his troubles and not having to answer to anybody. One day, he decides to go on a whaling ship in Nantucket. After a long voyage, he finally makes it to a motel in Nantucket and shares a bed with a harpooned named Queequeg who is a prince in his homeland.
One night Ishmael has a terrible dream that he is on a whaling ship during a fierce storm and he is fighting a whale who has hundreds of harpoons stabbed inside of him. He wakes up to hope his dream does not become real , but he's dead wrong.

Mobs Dick was a pretty interesting book and has been for many years. It informed readers of the hardships of being out to sea and how revenge is not always the best method to closure. Based off of the tragic event in 1820, the ship the Pequod suffers an attack from the famous sperm whale Moby Dick. I would recommend this book to readers who can handle the intensity and vivid images pictured in this book. I would not recommend this book to the squeamish or the young. For readers who love the classics and like the ocean this is a book for you.

This book is very different what I usually read, but its entertaining in its own way.
In this book you can really related to some of the characters such as the Captain Ahab. You can relate to Ahab. He has felt hate and the pain and in some point of your life you must have felt the same way.
This book isn't what i usually read because the book is focus on the characters how they think, how they say it, or how they react. Its not about the action that happens its how the characters think and feel.
Of course there is some action but the writer isn't trying the say that.
The book had some challenging words in it, but when you read the whole sentence you could imagine what it could mean or in what meaning.
It was nice and intersting reading something different.

I have read the original and Usbourne Classics versions of Frankenstein, and so know that a retelling can never capture the true beauty of the original- however, as someone who one day aspires to read Melville's original tale of madness and obsession, this book certainly captivated me.
I started this not four hours ago and simply couldn't stop- far from patronising or over-simplified, this version of the classic tale serves as both an appetiser and main course in its own right to the original.
I hope some day to brave the churning waters that hide the eponymous leviathan, however, for now, this has certainly satisfied my appetite.
