“The Wrong Husband” is an enchanting standalone romance that blends tension, humor, and heartfelt emotion.
L. Steele crafts a story that dives deep into the complexities of love disguised as a marriage of convenience, while keeping us engaged with compelling characters and a captivating plot.
Connor is a great character, grumpy yet charming, emotionally guarded yet tender, and with a fierce protectiveness that is both endearing and eye rolling! He is totally the "obsessive protective billionaire" trope without veering into the realm of possessiveness (although it comes close a few times 😜)
Meanwhile, the Phoenix as the ER doctor comes alive with her spirited personality and unwavering independence, making for a delightful handful against Connor's controlled life.
Connor Davenport, the brooding billionaire in desperate need of a wife for his inheritance (he needs the money to help others. And in return he will pull strings for her hospital not to close!
Though their agreement is clear, no feelings and only business, the chemistry between them is electric from the start. Sharing living spaces and beds seamlessly transitions from awkward to electrifying, and we are treated to an intoxicating blend of tension and warmth.

The Wrong Husband is CEO and undercover specialist Connor Davenport and ER Doctor Phoenix aka Phe’s captivating and edge of your seat journey. It’s book six in The Davenports Series and it’s a well written story that drew me in from the first chapter and didn’t let me go until the final word had been read.
Connor’s friend is worried that he hasn’t heard from his sister so Connor agrees to go and check on her and that’s when the fun and games begin. Reporting back to his friend has him realising the woman he has been watching has gotten under his skin but does she feel the same …..
I fell hard and fast for Connor and I adored Phe but it was the twists and turns I didn’t see coming that took this book to another level.

What a fantastic story – except for the part where – okay I will let you figure that out. Kinda like the episodes with Bobby in the tv show Dallas.
I thought I knew where the story was going to end up, but I was shocked when the unexpected happened near the end. I mean there was the HEA but certainly not in the normal way.
Stressed out ER doctor meets sort of bored billionaire. Connor ‘observed’ her at the request of her brother but it became a fascination and he had to have her! Phoenix had no idea who he was except she was sure someone was watching her. Then he ended up in her ER and the chase began!
Definitely twists and turns that were surprising but enjoyable to read.

Steele has done it again with this phenomenal story that is exciting and has compelling characters that drew me into this story and had me all caught up in the drama surrounding them. Not only is it a brilliantly written story, but I felt like I was right there as it unfolds connecting with the characters. which is a testament to the mastery of Ms. Steeles\'s craft. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

The DAVENPORTS, addictive and alluring series you can’t stop reading. Each member is unique and memorable, including Connor whom we meet in this book. With an IQ of 150, this man will imprint on you forever. He’s one of a kind and every woman’s dream come true. This book is a page turner from the very beginning and the author amazingly talented in drawing you into her world of unexpected love at its highest level , commitment and promises you’ll keep FOREVER.

Connor and Phoenix -- it started out as a job, Connor was watching/protecting Phoenix per her brother's request. What started out as a job eventually turned into an obsession, then a MOC, then feelings became involved, and now we have a real relationship.
