Resonance took me nearly two months to read and every page was worth the time. This is a novel that asks you to slow down to think and to feel deeply.

Nicole Tsopo’s writing is beautifully crafted and the world she has created is both imaginative and haunting. The story is rich with action, advanced technology, deep friendships and a powerful longing for freedom and self expression.

The intelligence woven into the narrative particularly around physics and artificial intelligence is breathtaking and thought provoking without ever feeling hollow or forced.

The descriptions of Hyperion and the Ruin are vivid. As a reader you can feel the dark, cold and metallic atmosphere of these places - the discomfort, pain, despair, fleeting moments of hope and the relentless desire to escape are all deeply tangible.

The author has an incredible ability to make emotion and environment exist side by side each amplifying the other.
The slow burn romance between Sylus and Thalia is handled with exceptional care. It is never rushed always intentional and built on quiet tension and emotional depth. The anticipation makes every moment feel earned.

Watching Sylus evolve from seeing Thalia as a subject, as someone expendable to loving her so deeply that he is willing to sacrifice himself for her was profoundly moving.

Thalia is a truly formidable character yet her strength feels deeply human. She refuses to shrink herself even when the world demands it of her. Stubborn yes but also profoundly thoughtful and caring she is guided by purpose and quiet conviction. Her willingness to carry out her mission despite the personal cost even when it means sacrificing her ink speaks to a courage that is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Thalia’s resilience, compassion and unwavering sense of self make her a character to admire and hold close long after the story ends.

As the story reaches its final chapters, the suspense tightens beautifully. I found myself unable to put the book down, fully immersed in the emotional and narrative stakes. The ending left me yearning for more, more of Thalia, more of Kade and more of this richly imagined world.

It is impossible not to feel the heart, mind, and soul Nicole Tsopo poured into Resonance. This is a book for devoted science fiction readers especially those who enjoy being challenged, exploring new realms and engaging with stories that linger long after the final page.

I am eagerly looking forward to book two.

What it was attempting and what it actually accomplished were two different things. The journey of this story left much to be desired. The dialogue was clipped and struggled to convey anything worth grasping on to. I really wanted to like this story but I found the further I got into the plot the less and less there was to really capture my attention. Ultimately I DNF'd this story.
