Born to a drug addicted mother, Luna was initiated into a gang at a young age, through no choice of her own. She learnt her place early in life and when her brother was born, he became her priority. Luna did whatever she needed to do to ensure his safety, even following her mother to New York. The streets of New York were Marco's playground, and he did what he needed to do to survive. Until she moved in, he couldn't figure Luna out, or what made her tick. All he knew was that he was attracted to the new girl on the block, who didn't know how to back down. However, secrets have a way of surfacing when life is good. Can Marco and Luna navigate their way through the pain to find their happy ever after, or will a relationship full of violence and heartache destroy them?
I am a wife, mother, child chauffeur and author. I love being able to create different characters and spin a web that makes them come together in the end. My books do not stick to just one genre, they span many.
I write about things that are real life situations and fairy tales are not always smooth sailing. My MC books are hard and gritty and they have struggles just like you would in life.
I also have books that are not so in your face. There are several that are good love stories that are fraught with issues that the characters have to deal with.
Wow, Erin always has me turning the pages like my fingers are on fire to get to the end.
Starting with Marco and Luna i wasn't sure how i would love or hate them as they were both part of differnt gangs... not one for vilence i guess, but love all things Erin writes... here we are. The characters pull u onto a world of survival. What it is to live in a life that u try to just survive and take care of the ones u love... mainly each other when it should be your parents. Sadly, this is so true in life. I love how Erin, mentions the younger children and their steuggles.. sorry no spoilers from me. She wrote with compation and specific detail... nailed it.. u will inderstand what i am saying once u read the book... Davey!
I will say there are some triggers in This story, but.... fit the story perfectly... jail is not a vacation bad shit happens there. Being inducted into a gang is not joining a book club... beatened and rape happens... so her specific details... are needed to get us to love these characters.
It's a tornado of emotions, graphic, scary and violent. It's hard and fast, has twists and turns, heat and danger. Luna is amazing and strong, loves deeply and will sacrifice if she has too. Marco finds something worth fighting for and changing his life. I can imagine that in many places this life is real, hard, tough and not something many survive. It's not an easy or sweet read but it's one of survival, of having someone worth turning your life around for and working for a better future, it's down to earth, grit and determination, it's having one person to turn to for help and not wasting it. It's finding love, family and a life! I wanted to cry and cheer for these characters and I'm so glad it was a happy ending. Raw at its best. Wow, another story that Erin Trejo has knocked out of the park.
Chula (Luna) iis from Chicago and had been initiated into a gang at an early age, and not by choice. Her mom, who was a drug addict up and decides that they are moving to New York. Luna doesn't really want to move but she feels like she need to because of her little brother Davey. Once they move to New York, of course it's a bad area because that's what the can afford. The first person Luna meets is a dealer right across the street from their apartment named Marco. These characters are fantastic. Luna is Marcos Chula, and always will be.
This is definitely a book worth reading. You will be like me and can't turn the pages quick enough.
Chula is an intense, real, raw, vivid look at gang life. Though I'm sure there's a lot more involved than what's on page, this author gives us a look into the lives of Luna/Chula and Marco's lives and their involvement in the gangs they belong to. This story is not for the faint of heart and it's most definitely not your typical love story. Make sure you check trigger warnings before you start reading. There's elements that may sensitive to some readers. This is quite a journey with these characters and absolutely an emotional one. Definitely worth the read!
This was a good read with a strong FMC, but this is Marco & Luna's story things started out wild from the beginning because she is running from a dangerous person from an old gang, she was forced to participate in, so she meets Marco and he feels instant attraction to her because she shows him she won't let anyone run over her. Chula just wants to lose all ties to Rafe, but she knows he won't let her go, because he possessive and obsessed but when things take a turn for the worse, she has to do something to get Marco and his crew out, but can Marco save her when Rafe finds her?
I don’t think Erin can write a bad story. We are taken to the streets of New York when Luna’s drug addict mom decides she needs new scenery. Luna goes to watch over her non verbal brother. She leaves her crew behind with the threats from her leader to return. Marco runs the streets of New York and sets his sights on Luna, who he calls Chula. This doesn’t seem like a romance story but in their lives it’s as close to romance as they can get. There is violence, blood, twists and yurns around every corner, at every block. I loved this story!
What a great intense read this was! Luna and Marco each had a crazy hard life growing up, close to being on the streets doing not great things to survive. But when they met each other, that's when things started to change, she wanted a better life and he wasn't quite sure how. They faced some obstacles some large ones, but they did finally get what they deserved. Definitely a sad read, cause you know this isn't just fiction, there are kids out there doing exactly this.
Erin, now you know, you can't just leave me hanging like that.. I just needed so much more.. My mind is wondering, "What happened next? That last part was an eye-opener. I never even thought that would happen. I just love the way that... Wait... I can't say that part. You have to read the book. You won't be sorry. I'll patiently wait for the next one..
Luna and Marcos story pulled me in from the very beginning. The push, pull, and chemistry between them kept me turning the pages. The journey is not all red wine and roses, but full of twists, turns, truths that are revealed and two people who rise above the hand life dealt them with a little bit of help from the family they choose. This was a great read and I'd love to see where they are in life 5 years after this book ended.
This story was an emotional read. Not for the faint hearted. So do heed all trigger warnings.
Luna and Marco have lived the Gang life from a young age. Things haven’t been easy for them but they don’t know anything different. When they meet, they both want a better life for one another. Can they have a better life? Will their happiness be together?
Another fantastic story by this author. It had me hooked from the very beginning.
A page turner that packs a punch. From page one I was engrossed in this book. I liked Marco and Luna and how things turned out for them given their circumstances. The action, touch of suspense, secrets, twists, and surprise revelations were nicely done. Overall, it's a good read.
Luna and Marco sucked me in from the beginning! They were fantastic characters. They were both part of a different gangs. This isn’t a book for the faint of heart. There are twists and turns throughout the story. Overall spectacular work!!!
Wow. Marco and Lina’s story got me from page one. This author knows how to do drama and angst and this was full of both. I might to have been a little anxiety ridden through it but it was so worth it. Epic
Marco and Luna I have no words that won't give much away expect its raw, spicy, emotional, action, dark, and twist you won't see coming or want to miss. I was pulled right in and I didn't want it to end. A read you won't miss. I can't wait to read what she has next.
