She’s looking for a fresh start after blowing up her life. He’s a single dad with a meddling family who wants more for himself and his son.
In the charming seaside town of Seascape, Rhode Island, second chances are just a heartbeat away…
Sam Keough is determined to rebuild her life—on her terms. With her sights set on restoring one of Port City’s historic homes, she’s ready to prove herself as an independent architect, even if the project she’s taken on is more than she bargained for. What she didn’t plan on? The ruggedly handsome general contractor who makes her heart race and her carefully drawn boundaries blur.
Shay Stevens left corporate life behind to raise his son in the town that raised him. Taking over the family construction company was supposed to give him balance—but meeting Sam throws that balance off in the best way. She’s smart, capable, and unexpectedly tender with his son. She’s also hiding pain behind that strong exterior, and Shay can’t help but want to be the one she lets in.
As sparks fly on and off the job site, unsettling incidents begin to threaten Sam’s new beginning. Creepy messages, a break-in, and the feeling she’s being watched bring her closer to Shay—but also closer to danger.
Can Sam and Shay build something real before the past tears it all apart? Here Where You Belong is a heart-tugging, heat-filled romance about finding home—in a place, in a family, and in each other.
💭: I don’t know what it is about the Seascape series, but it just speaks to my soul. There’s something about that cozy New England vibe — it’s comforting, familiar, and feels like coming home.
Book two brought together so many of my favorite tropes: a single dad, a broody MMC, and a charming small-town setting. But what completely surprised me was the added element of suspense. I’m usually not a suspense or thriller reader (my anxiety can’t handle it!), but this story had just the right balance — enough tension to keep me hooked without overwhelming me.
Shay was such a wonderful single dad. I loved how his child always came first, no matter the situation. While he might come across as grumpy, he’s really just a man who knows exactly what he wants and refuses to settle — even when others don’t understand his choices.
Sam’s story, on the other hand, is all about reinvention — another trope I adore. After her life implodes, she escapes to Seascape for a fresh start. She’s capable, determined, and yet her own toughest critic. Watching her find her confidence again was one of the most satisfying parts of the book.
When Shay and Sam join forces on a historical renovation project, sparks absolutely fly. Their chemistry was undeniable, but it was the quieter moments — the found family dynamic, Sam’s growing bond with Shay’s son, and a whirlwind romance — that really made this story shine. And that epilogue? It hit so close to home for me and made the story even more special.
Huge thanks to Amy Mara and Luna Literary for the ARC — I can’t wait to return to Seascape for book three!
I absolutely loved this book. Sam was an amazing character that many girl can relate to. She's driven and knows what she wants out of life. Shay was a perfect mix of grumpy, protective and loving. Luca was absolutely adorable! I was sucked in from the beginning! Their relationship was a whirlwind.
I enjoyed this book. Sam and Shay were really sweet together. I loved how protective Shay was with Sam. There was the right amount of tension between them before they actually got together. I really liked how patient Shay was with Sam and that always wanted to take things at her pace. Little Luca was adorable and I could not get enough of him. Also, the suspense element was done really well!
I willingly read Here Where You Belong by Amy Mara as and ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) and it was really good. One of my favorite genres is single dad romance so it was right up my alley. The book had plot, spicy and wholesomeness. The way the FMC was so focused on being independent that she didnt want to let anyone help her was really relatable and also sad to read. It was beautiful to see the transformation in her thanks to the MMC being there, supporting her and showing her that she didn't have to do anything alone. It made me so happy when he was talking about how it made him feel being seen as a man because he was so used to being seen as a dad. The only little issue I had was the way the bad guy was captured, but I was also glad that she saved herself. I loved her relationship with Luca.
All in all it was a very enjoyable book and it made me feel butterflies for the MMC.
Ps. I also want to know more about her friends story with Nico.

*ARC Reviewer* Here Where You Belong is the sweet story of Sam, the architect and Shay the single father, general contractor, and how they form a working relationship while navigating work, life, and a stalker. I think the story is very sweet and wonderfully written, and I love all of the characters, especially Mateus. He provides comic relief as well as seriousness when needed I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
A cozy, fall vibes, small town, workplace, strangers - lovers romance with grown up MC's. FMC Sam has taken a leap and starts her own architectural business specializing in historical renovations and meets MMC Shay who's just taken over his family's general contracting business. (This aspect - the talk of renovating and the requirements to meet historical qualifications was really cool and interesting I don't think I've ever read in a fiction story and def not in a romance.) Sam is 30, newly single and Shay is a divorced single dad - super hot single dad - with primary custody of his cutie pie Luca. Shay's a little grumpy, over protective guy and Sam's independent and drive, though a little inexperienced in love. Overall, their relationship really works - love when they can't decide if the other is flirting or not. Without doing spoilers so excuse the lack of details... There was a bit of a plot twist - while I get the point of it to get our MC's together a bit quicker - I really felt that it just felt contrived and frankly it wasn't really "suspense" because there was really just a big neon sign telling us the "bad guy" LONG before our FMC even had an inkling. I really felt the author could have just let the relationship follow Sam's "dating rules" and we'd have ended up in the same place. There was alot of potential in this story - I didn't vibe with the writing style for me it felt perfunctory and sometimes just "too polite" to be natural. And at times we had some repetitive thoughts/conversations that with some editing we could have lost about 50 pages. When we got to the spice - I def didn't expect it to be quite as hot as it was. Shay's patient and open to helping Sam do some exploration (love he read her book on her Kindle and *maybe* payed attention to some highlighted sections).
ARC READ BOOK: here where you belong AUTHOR: Amy Mara Rating: 4.5⭐️ Spice: 3🌶️
Oooooo. Where do I start? I have read a lot over the last 2 years and hit a slump recently. Truly nothing was great. I liked books, a few really good ones but this one had me hooked from the beginning.
I’m a big sucker for a small town romance with a little twist, and this gave me both. So let’s get into the nitty gritty
Sam Keough recently jobless, moving back to her childhood hometown looking for a fresh start. Starting as an independent architect she lands a bid on a historic home working with what she thinks is a nice older man and his construction company, but really it’s the man’s nephew. Sam struggles with trust, she’s a type A planner and hates being behind and pushes to be the best.
Shay Steven’s, divorced, single dad, owns the construction company after his dad and uncle retire. Kind of grumpy but VERY protective of the people he loves. Shay knew from the start that Sam was going to be it for him but Sam wasn’t so sure, I mean coworkers and all.
Through their long and torturous pining, Sam ends up with a stalker (the twist I craved). Because of this psycho it forces a close relationship with Sam and Shay. Through her trauma and fear, they fall head over heels for each other. Shay the ever protective golden retriever never leaves her side and helps her find her stalker and makes sure the psycho goes away.
After all the pain, trauma and sex (lots of spice between the two) they find their happiness and make it out on top.
I will 100% read another book by Amy. I can’t wait for book three.
At 31, Sam expected to have been married with kids by now, but having been recently been dumped, she left her job at a prestigious architecture firm to strike out on her own in the small town of Seascape, Rhode Island. Working on a project with contractor Shay Stevens, who moved back home after getting custody of his young son, the last thing Sam expected was the attraction she felt for her coworker. She also didn't expect to be stalked both at home and at work, and for that to change her life in so many ways.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. Don't get me wrong, it was good; but the transitions between scenes and the way the characters' dialogues sometimes didn't match their inner monologue put me off a bit. Overall, it felt all a little disconnected to me. The chemistry between Shay and Sam however, was really good once they got together. The stalking part of the story was well done, even if it was obvious from the get-go who the stalker was; that did not take away from the things he was doing to harass Sam. Also, Luca (Shay's son) was a highlight of this book, he's so cute and adorable! So if you like romantic suspense and slow burn stories, give this a try; it may not have been for me, but it might be for you.

Although this is the second book in the Seascape Series, you can read this as a stand-alone.
Sam needs a change after quitting her job and striking out on her own. She lands a restoration project near her old hometown and Charli’s apartment is empty. Perfect or so it seems until the washer breaks and she needs help on a weekend. With no one fully able to help, she calls her general contractor for the restoration project. Enter Shay, the nephew of the general contractor, who arrives to save the day and sets her body tingling; however, tagging along with a small boy. Nope, he is taken. Yet another strike in the love life arena. Over the course of the repair, they notice that the apartment has some maintenance issues to address. And just the thing, I have a willing young, hot contractor to help with the fixes.
Shay is a single dad by choice and taking over the business from his uncle and dad. When he does a simple favor, he encounters Sam. He notices much about her that makes him want to see more. His body reacts strongly to her feminine form. Oh my, we will see each other alot, due to the project. I need someone that wants the same things as I do. What’s her story?
Mara takes her readers on the journey of finding love with the right fit. If you enjoy a small-town romance with a single dad and a strong female, then this one is for you. I look forward to reading the next one.
Thank you to Amy Mara for the opportunity to read this wonderful story.
Sam's life turned upside down and all she wanted was a fresh start in her childhood hometown. Before she starts her first big solo job she meets hot single dad, Shay. Turns out he's her new coworker and she can't bring herself to break her “no dating coworkers” rule. However, Shay and his sweet boy Luca are determined to change her mind. But danger lurks in the shadows for Sam. Can Shay and Luca persuade Sam before trouble finds her?
This story is so cute and Luca is the sweetest little wingman. Shay is the definition of a cinnamon roll with a hard exterior. I mean, the man is the definition of a book husband. Trust me, you want to meet him😏 I inhaled this book in less than a day because I could not get enough of Sam and Shay’s banter and chemistry!

"I like you in dad mode.” Dad mode? I can fucking run with that one.”
“He makes me feel alive in a way that I haven’t ever felt before with any other guy.”
“Thinking of ways to make her smile has infiltrated all aspects of my life and I’m obsessed. This woman has a hold over me and there’s nothing I want more than to be under her spell.”
“This is what I had dreamed of for so long, finding someone to share our lives with.”
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The above opinions are my own.
Ahhhh, slow burn and romantic suspense. Such a great combination!
Sam's love life is plummeting, and she has decided she needs to switch it up. Saying goodbye to her lauded job, she moves out to small town Seascape for a restoration project. Also working on this restoration project is general contractor Shay. Divorced, looking good, and catching Sam's attention, Shay is single dad to his son, Luca. Despite the attraction, Sam won't date her coworkers, but Shay doesn't let that put him off.
What pushes them together? Sam ends up with a stalker in Seascape that overrides their pining and forces them together as Shay is determined to protect her. During this stalker interlude, they both work on healing from their past terrible relationships as their attraction to one another grows. It's still a slow burn despite the forced proximity and the steam builds into some serious spice between Shay and Sam. Can't fight that feeling, ya know?
I really enjoyed the development of Shay and Sam's relationship - top notch. The suspense was a bit of a twist, but perhaps not quite as mysterious as I hoped. Still a great time though! While in a series, this can be read on its own. Per usual, I haven't read the 1st book in this series, and I didn't feel lost at all reading this. I plan to read book no. 1 and read future books in this series!

I was chosen to be an ARC reviewer for this second installment of the Seascape Series. Thank you Team Luna for the opportunity. This review details my personal thoughts and opinions about this story.
The book follows Sam, an architect starting a new chapter in her life, and Shay, a single-dad contractor. Working together to restore a historical house, close proximity and small town chatter make it inevitable for a spark to ignite. From washing machine pipes bursting to cause a wet t-shirt moment to deadlines needing to be met, Shay is always to the rescue. With his son Luca along for the ride, Sam and Shay become a good team. One slight issue, Sam is being stalked. Is it the person who is responsible for the move to this town? An ex-boyfriend?
Shay being the protective, caring, man takes Sam’s safety into his own hands. Even though the relationship skyrocketed, it worked. She wanting to find true love and he finally getting the happily ever after!
Pros Luca (so cute!) Supportive families Shay’s assertiveness and protectiveness of his peace Shay managing a relationship and single dad responsibilities A look into spicy romance novels through the FMC
Cons Resolution to the story’s climax felt rushed and was a let down
I would rate the spice level of this book 3 out of 5. 3.5 out of 5, rounded up to 4 stars.
I really wanted to love this book. But it was so slow, I almost DNF. It gets better and I was mostly happy with the resolution.
Sam and Shay are great together. It was very clear from the beginning that Sam and Shay had the same overall lifetime goals and felt that they should be at different places in life than they were. They have chemistry and seem to be the epitome of “when you know, you know.” Shay is so protective of Sam while still trying to balance being a good dad. Luca is also super cute.
I had a little beef with the stalking/mystery plot. It was a little disjointed and the characters didn’t take it seriously enough. The climax of the action was a little anticlimactic.
Here Where You Belong is an interconnected standalone and book two in the Seascape Series. Some spoilers for book one are in this one, but you don’t need to have read book one to feel comfortable in this book.

Shay Stevens isn't just a dreamy book boyfriend, he is what we all want in a relationship. His love for Sam makes your heart swell. Here Where You Belong is a slow burn, small town romance with a pinch of suspense and the added bonus of an adorable little 5 year old. It's an incredibly heartwarming story and I promise you will love both of them from the beginning.
Sam is new in town, starting fresh after a break up and branching out on her own as a new businesses owner. Her only problem is that sexy single dad general contractor who keeps flirting with her.
Shay is a single dad who just took over his business from his dad and uncle. When he is called to help out Sam, he wasn't expecting a breathtaking woman.
Amy Mara writes their story so beautifully and I kept finding myself smiling while reading it. Shay and Sam are couple goals. The honesty and vulnerability they are able to share with each other is the foundation of their relationship. They give each other everything the other has ever wanted in a relationship without knowing it. Plus, who doesn't love a protective MMC?? Shay does everything he can to protect Sam and they have the best happy ever after ❤️
Book 2 of the Seascape Series but also a stand-alone. This book is a cozy read that sets in New England in the fall.😍
Shay a single dad taking over his family construction business as a general contractor. He gets a call from his uncle to help a friend out and ends up meeting his new coworker Sam.
Sam moves back to her childhood town, after quitting her old job. She takes on a restoration project and decided to stay in Charli's apartment since she is away traveling till she finds a place of her own.
Amy Mara writing is amazing. She makes her books feel to real draws you with suspense that makes you not want to put it down. The MMC and FMC have the best chemistry even with some obstacles in the way that they overcome.
Thank you Amy Mara and the Luna literary management for sending my the ARC. I can't wait for book 3 and to add this book next to the 1st book on my shelf. 🥰
I was lucky enough to get an ARC, and this book was honestly everything I hoped for! Sam, like me, is a massive nerd and bookworm and she's also strong, driven, and independent, and, for that matter, completely badass. I loved her kindness and interactions with Luca, who, like me, became very quickly attached to her. Sam has her insecurities and trauma, but that makes her more realistic.
And Shay 😍😍😍 I loved him so much! He was everything Sam needed and wanted for herself. Strong, protective, but also kind and respectful and going at her pace despite wanting everything at once. Shay is also a fantastic dad, and seeing him with Luca healed part of me.
I loved the realism in their familial relationships, and I loved how they both had their individual support systems and their collective support system. I hope to see their babies in future books!
I enjoyed the book. Sam and Shay are cute together. I love how protective he is of her and his son is super adorable. If you are a fan of single dads and small town romance, you might like this book. The book has a slow build up. I would have liked the suspense to be built up a little more and I felt the ending with the stalker part was wrapped up very quickly. In the beginning, the FMC keeps sending mixed signals to the MC. One minute she's all business only but then the next she will be touching him and flirting. Only to go right back to insisting on being business only. I'm not a big fan of the constant back and forth. But after we got through that stage, I really enjoyed them as a couple. One other thing for me was that sometimes I felt like some of the conversations ended abruptly. Overall, it's a good book and I think many readers will love it.
This one is sharp, suspenseful, and quietly swoony.
A spicy small-town romance with a slow-burn edge, Here Where You Belong balances workplace tension and romantic suspense with ease. The contractor MMC x architect FMC pairing works beautifully, especially with forced proximity pushing two very capable, very stubborn adults into close quarters.
The single-dad element adds heart, the Type A FMC brings structure and spark, and the dual POV lets the chemistry build naturally from both sides. Mature characters, real stakes, and just the right amount of tension make this an easy, satisfying read.

Sam is looking to rebuild her life and get her own firm up and running by working on historically restoring a home. Surprisingly enough the projects general contractor is handsome and rugged. As they grow close and lines blur, strange and worrying things keep happening to Sam. Will this pull them together or take them apart?
This was a great book! The characters drew you and the suspense makes you want to know who’s behind it all. I loved that they had a chemistry from the start and while there was a little hesitation due to being coworkers they both dive in headfirst. You relate to Sam being strong and smart. Shay’s family being loving but pushy and Luca is just adorable.
Honestly this book started really promising, I was digging the plot and the characters but as it flowed scenes started to feel really performatives, conversations did not feel natural and some parts did not add any substance to the story. The stalking situation was kind of ignored at some parts and from the beginning it was kind of obvious who the bad guy was even when if the FMC thought "I have no enemies, who could it be". There algo were some continuity issues like conversations and certain facts that were relevant were pushed aside for the sake of other scenes.
All in all, I still finished it and the story was cute, I enjoyed how the couple's journey felt natural and they did what felt right for them. The single dad trope was done right and it was refreshing seeing the co-parenting side and the struggles that come with it.
A cozy fall vibe read. First of all I love the way both MC's helped each other to bloom. Shay is a bit grumpy, but has the softest and kindest heart, he supports Sam even when she refuses (because she's so used to do all by herself) and slowly but steadily breaks her barricades.
Sam, poor girl what she had to go through. 😭 But thankfully her total useless psycho ex got what he deserved. And even in all the chaos of her life, she manages to make Shay feel loved and wanted as real partner, and not just someone who does all the housechores (cough... his ex... cough).
Loved also the relationship Sam builds with Luca, whi is actually the cutest kid.
thank you to Luna Literary and Amy Mara for this ARC
my review: 3.75 - rounded up for Goodreads.
this is such a sweet slowburn centred on healing. Our FMC Sam is so kind and intelligent, and has moved for a make it or break it job opportunity! Our MMC Shay is a single dad who works in construction. They are paired together from day one. This is a story of a healing journey and finding yourself. There is some suspense as Sam is being stalked. Sadly when this came to a head it was a bit of a let down for me, I felt it was anticlimactic in my opinion. That being said it's well written and a lovely story with open door spice.
This is the perfect palette cleanser. You don't need to have read the first book to know what is going on.
Sam is an architect and has moved back to her home town to renovate an old house. Shay is the contractor of the build and is a single dad to the cutest son Luca.
There is someone stalking Sam and Shay has to keep her safe. I like how this book focuses on the effects of stalking on Sam's life instead of the actual stalker. But I do feel like the whole stalker element was rushed to the end and you knew exactly who the stalker was from the get-go.
Its super s l o w burn to the point I almost gave up. But hang in there it is worth it once it gets going at about 70%
Shay & Sam make you smile from the very start as they flirt & fight their attraction in equal measure. Their meet-cute sparks instantly, setting the tone for a story filled with laughter & heat. Luca adds charm & heart, filling the quiet moments with fun & love. The focus here is beautifully on messy emotions, on learning, growing, & taking that next brave step in their relationship. Light suspense threads through the story, keeping them close & the pace engaging. And when the spice hits? It definitely sizzles. Fun, sexy, flirty, & delightfully messy.
Sam is working towards a new journey personally & professionally, working as a newly independent architect, and Shay is a single dad to Luca, working as the manager of the project. Sam is wanting to prove herself and Shay just wants her to let him in. Both learn to make concessions and learn how to be vulnerable.
I loved how Sam was with Luca. The cuddle scenes were too sweet and Luca’s line about room in his heart for all those who love him killed me. Sam did give Luca’s mom the respect as his mom, and recognized the potential for complications. Shay’s sisters were great, definitely overbearing older sisters, but also wanting to be there for Sam.
This is book 2 in an interconnected series, but it is a standalone. I read this first, and I am now reading Here for the Summer (available on KU) & enjoying it.
If you love a workplace, he falls first, single dad, spicy small town romance, thrown in a little stalker mystery, I definitely recommend it!!
Sam is finally back at Seascape and even as she seeks to embark on a new phase of life, her past experience holds her back from exploring a relationship with Shay. I loved it though that Shay consistently proves to her again and again that he is committed, while not pushing her too hard.
When trouble comes finding Shay, Shay’s protective mode makes him so irresistible. I also enjoyed how they, along with Shay’s young son, Luca, quickly gel together. They were so cute in all their interactions.
You will love this if you love the single dad and small town romance tropes.
A sweet spicy romance with a wonderful single dad trope. Shey is a contractor starting out on his own with the sweetest little boy. He is trying to do it all right at work and as a dad. Sam is an architect who has moved back to town from a stale relationship and a bad work experience through no fault of her own. Small town romance at it finest and some really fine spice between the two as they navigate their feelings and the terror of Sam facing a stalker situation as it escalates into truly dangerous territory.
I did not read the first book in this series but it can definitely be read as a standalone! I really liked the story and the characters. But there were a couple of things that just kept me from loving the book. First, it felt a bit drawn out to me. I felt like it could have been quite a bit shorter and still been a great story. Secondly, I felt like some of the wording was a bit awkward sometimes. I did really enjoy Sam, Shay and Luca though. Luca was so sweet and cute and it was adorable to see him and Sam develop a relationship ☺️
I absolutely loved Sam and Shay’s story. I’m a sucker for romantic suspense and single dad tropes so this was a definite win for me. I loved the flirty behavior between the characters and how he gave Sam a safe place to land when she felt like she had to be strong and independent all the time. He wasn’t pushy, but just reminded her that she could be herself with him and he liked her no matter what. Luca was so sweet and I loved watching him fall in love with Sam too and how easily she fell into that caretaker role with him. I can’t wait for Andi’s book!!!
There’s so much to love about this book—the premise, the relatable characters, the tension, Shay’s protective side, the family dynamics and acceptance. My absolute favourite part though was the sweet connection between Sam and Luca. They developed such a special bond that just makes your heart melt.
This is the second book in the series, but I hadn’t read the first one and found that it works well as a standalone. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the others in the series now! Thank you Amy and Luna Literary for the advanced copy.
