Botticelli’s Inferno (The Cursed Masters Book 1)
If you enjoyed Dan Brown’s DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons, I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this book.
Based around Botticelli’s paintings and Dante’s Inferno our main characters are in search of religious fanatics and murders. It takes them from Florence to Paris and Berlin in the meantime they are being stalked by murderous acolyte. Our main characters also have their own personal demons to battle Lorenzo (a forensic artist) the suicide two years previously of his girlfriend Elisabetta from which he still suffers with panic attacks and hallucinations and Adrienne, the death of her parents during a bomb attack.
I also learned a new word “prosopometamorphopsia” yes, I can’t pronounce it either, but it is a neurological disorder known as “demon face syndrome” where the sufferer sees facial features distorted in a variety of ways.
This book has been translated from Italian to English and has lost none of its original tense impact. Really recommend it.

Trama avvincente che usa il pretesto delle vicissitudini dei protagonisti, a volte un po' forzate, per condurre il lettore in un percorso storico e artistico molto interessamnte. Il vero protagonista che emerge è Botticelli e la lettura offre spunti per conoscere meglio la vita e le opere dell'artista e lascia tanta voglia di approfondire.

Se sentite la mancanza di Dan Brown, questo è il libro perfetto per voi.
La storia ha gli stessi elementi dei suoi libri: ricerche nel mondo dell'arte, un pizzico di sovrannaturale, ritmo veloce e una corsa/fuga verso qualcosa o da qualcuno. L'Inferno di Botticelli ha anche qualcosa in più: le immagini delle opere e alcuni altri inserti grafici, che permettono di seguire meglio i collegamenti e i simboli a cui si riferiscono i personaggi nel libro. Questa cosa mi è piaciuta tantissimo!
Così come mi è piaciuto che sia data al lettore la possibilità di scegliere se credere più al lato sovrannaturale della storia, tra gatti infernali e voci demoniache, oppure se darle una spiegazione più razionale e pragmatica con i disturbi mentali.
Il protagonista, Lorenzo, ha una mente molto turbata ed è interessante star dietro ai suoi pensieri. Ha anche un lato romantico, che si rivela quando osserva e pensa a Adrienne, la sua compagna nell'indagine, senza comunque mai diventare smielato.
Gli intrecci e i collegamenti sono realistici e ricollegabili alle opere originali (tranne forse in uno o due casi), il che rende il tutto ancora più interessante.
L'ho letto in pochissimo tempo, mi ha proprio presa. Consigliato!

Mi è piaciuto, ho apprezzato la costruzione dei collegamenti fra le varie opere d'arte
CIT: Certe cose non guariscono con un ragionamento; non si vincono le emozioni con la logica, non si cancellano le ferite senza lasciare cicatrici. Come in un quadro: i tratti rimossi lasciano il segno, occorre accettarli e renderli armoniosi al dipinto. Ci voleva tempo e lavoro.

Botticelli’s Inferno is a fun thriller referencing art and religion which plays with conventions established by The Da Vinci Code.The book is an enthralling mystery,using original quotes and paintings by Botticelli which give an added air of authenticity..It begins in Florence where a police sketch artist is trying to draw a picture of a suspect.In the Uffizi Gallery he meets a young woman whose boss is murdered and they both set out to find the killer and the reasons for his murder
They travel from one city to another to discover the clues hidden in Botticelli’s depiction of the Inferno and are closely followed by a mysterious killer.The book is well written and highly recommended for readers who love thrillers,Italian art and culture.
This is the perfect read for you if you love the art and history of Renaissance Italy combined with a fast-paced imaginative thriller and with a side of love interest.The reader follows Lorenzo and his companion Adrienne as they search for clues to the killer in the works of Botticelli and other texts which are reproduced in the novel which helps the reader to become more immersed in this fast-paced thriller.

Brilliant but u need to concentrate as there is a lot going on. Found out a lot of history and lived the pictures throughout. Read it in English. Definitely worth reading. I’m keeping so I can read it again at another time as I feel I will discover different things
