Who do you become when the man you loved was part of the lie?
Cincinnati private investigator Shiloh Foley is grieving the murder of her husband, Ethan—a beloved police officer with secrets buried too deep to stay hidden. When two women are found dead in Eden Park, Shiloh uncovers a horrifying Ethan knew about a cover-up involving a decades-old sexual abuse scandal at an elite prep school.
Now, the victim has returned. Known only as the Prophet of Eden Park, he builds an underground cult in the city’s abandoned subway, hunting those who hurt him—one by one.
As Shiloh digs deeper, she’s drawn into a dangerous network of power, betrayal, and vengeance. With help from a nun, a teacher, and her loyal assistant, she must stop the Prophet before the justice he seeks turns into slaughter.
A haunting thriller about betrayal, revenge, and survival, Prophet of Eden Park is perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Karin Slaughter, and dark cult fiction.

I’ve only ever read two books that ever genuinely made me feel scared, like hold your breath while your reading levels of scared, and I’m happy to report that this book made me feel that way too. I picked this book up at the Columbus Book Festival, even got to meet Vivian Catfield and hear about the book first hand from her, and I’m so glad I did! It was more morbid than anything I’ve read before, but it was so well thought out and written, I read it about as fast as I could!
The story Prophet of Eden Park is about a woman named Shiloh who is a private investigator, asked to explore the disappearance of a house keeper/ Nannie’s sister who had gone missing, and who the police were not investigating because of a number of unsavory activities she was involved in publicly. She ends up getting wrapped up in a whirlwind of mysterious killings staged as cult-like prophesies around her town as she grapples with her own grievances and tangled past. Genuinely, genuinely so well written, I think a little bit more gory than I could handle at times but so well worth the read, especially during this spooky season! Hopefully I can read some more of Vivian’s work in the future!
I found this book fascinating, and the author has a natural talent of drawing the reader into this story. Some of the horrific moments in the storyline actually occurred in Cincinnati, adding credibility to this novel. I must say that detailed descriptions could upset some people.

This one does not mess around. Dark, haunting, and full of twists that feel like emotional whiplash in the best possible way. 🫣
Prophet of Eden Park dives headfirst into secrets, grief, and revenge .... the kind of story that grabs you by the throat and whispers, “you’re not putting me down, are you?” Spoiler: you’re not.
Shiloh Foley is that perfectly flawed, determined main character I always root for .....raw, stubborn, and way too brave for her own good. Every page peels back another layer of lies until you’re questioning everyone (and maybe yourself a little too 😬).
It’s dark, clever, and beautifully written... like a crime scene you can’t look away from. If you like your thrillers gritty, emotional, and just a touch unhinged… yeah, this one’s for you.
Shiloh is somehow an unlikely heroine, despite being a PI, and at the beginning of the novel it feels like she's stumbling around still distraught with grief at her husband's death.

However the threads obviously start to come together, and whilst Shiloh is forced to face some uncomfortable truths about her husband's past she manages to make it out intact, with the mystery solved.
Very heavy. Very dark. Very good. A truly compelling story with a darkness that pulls you in and you can’t look away. I had my suspicions as to who committed the crimes, but I wasn’t expecting the why or the how. This is an excellent book and I enjoyed reading it. Vivian’s books always surprise me and they linger with me for days. I love her writing.
Man, this book was great! With all the twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I love the author, Vivian Catfield. If you like a little mystery with some weird cult stuff, you will love this book. I cannot wait to read more books from this author in the future.
I had to go back and look real quick because I wasn't sure if there was a trigger warning or not. Which, there is. Whew, this was one heck of a story. I was so torn with who it was. I had a feeling when Shiloh saw him from the start but I kept hoping it wasn't. With so many secrets that kept coming forth, I was…..yeah, so torn. This was so good. The ending. The whole story. My one super complaint is William. I get the backstory and I get why but that was a blow. I'm still kind of… in awe? For this one. Just wow. Definitely recommend. One hundred percent. And I am definitely looking forward to more stories from Shiloh. I know this is kind of all over the place, but I'm trying so hard not to spoil anything lol. Just go pick this one up. Incredible read!
