Jessie Welsh wants absolutely nothing to do with her womanizing next-door neighbor, Ben “Mikey” Miknevicius. All she wants is for him to turn down the late-night party music so she can get some sleep.
He may be a sexy-as-puck hockey star, but nothing about him screams “relationship” – in other words, not for Jessie. So when Jessie and her boyfriend break up and she’s left without a place to stay, she figures it can’t hurt to take Mikey up on his temporary offer to stay in his spare room, right?
Only it turns out that Mikey might have more to offer. When Jessie finds out her ex has been cheating on her all along, she and Mikey share a steamy kiss sure to make him jealous. But when the two are caught by Mikey’s family, they have no choice but to keep up the ruse.
When feelings start turning more real than fake, Jessie will have to decide.
Will she let herself fall for the last person she ever expected to want? And will Mikey be able to put his old ways behind him and be the man she deserves?

Forced Proximity, Fake Dating and A Hockey Romance? YES PLEASE!
Puck Honey is a hockey romance and is a part of the Unintentional Puck Bunny series. This book focuses on our main characters Jessie and Mikey.
Jessie is a hard worker and always putting her all into everything, including a 4 year relationship where she is unsatisfied in multiple ways. One night, her neighbor is being loud while having a party. Having to be up at 4:30am, Jessie is not having it so she storms over to the neighbor to give him a piece of her mind. That is when she comes face to face with Mikey.
Mikey has always been the fun guy. The one you go to for a good time but not a long time, and he has always been okay with that. He has always thought he was never good enough for relationships. What he didn't expect was Jessie. The moment she stormed over to his place and told him exactly how she felt, his world turned upside down.
What happens when Jessie finds herself with no place to go and Mikey offers a place for her to stay? They both feel a pull toward each other but can they keep away when they are so close?
This was my first book by Dani and I can say that I really enjoyed it. While it is more of a slow burn, once the spice hits....it hits 🥵 Mikey is a lovable MMC, he will have you screaming at him at times but he eventually figures everything out.
This book does have some trigger warnings at the back so make sure that you check those before reading.
I picked this book up because I’m a huge fan of the forced proximity trope — I love the banter and vulnerability it naturally brings — and this story definitely delivered on that front. I genuinely enjoyed this novel; it was packed with cute moments, a touch of angst, and Dani’s writing style made it such an easy, smooth read.
That said, I did find myself wanting a bit more depth when it came to the conflict and overall climax. Some of the emotional intimacy scenes felt slightly rushed, and I would have loved to see more pushback from Jesslyn — and even from Mikey, especially while he was navigating his family issues. Those moments had so much potential to really elevate the emotional impact.
I also want to mention that while I do enjoy a good smutty read and exploring different kinks in romance, the use of the “Daddy” kink felt awkwardly placed at times and occasionally pulled me out of the story rather than adding to it. That could just be a personal preference.
Still, this was such an easy, engaging, feel-good read. It’s the kind of book that’s perfect if you’re in a reading slump or just want something enjoyable without diving into an emotionally heavy whirlwind romance.
I loved this one! NFL star Mikey doesn’t do relationships, at least until Jessie barges into one of his parties to tell him to turn it down. A few words later, and suddenly Jessie’s questioning her current relationship (and maybe wanting something more 👀).
After she and her boyfriend Cole break things off, she ends up rooming with her next-door neighbor. This former NFL playboy turned total golden retriever 🐶. When Jessie runs into her ex’s new fling (yep, the girl he cheated with 😤), Mikey steps in and pretends to be her fake boyfriend.
And you know what happens next… that fake relationship starts to feel way too real. I was hooked the entire time and loved every second, especially watching their chemistry go from fake to so, so real.
⭐️ Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Tropes I loved: fake dating, reformed player, neighbors to lovers, golden retriever MMC 💛

This book is probably a 3.5 star book. It is a bit of a slow burn but I enjoyed the characters. Jessie had trauma and needed the opportunity to shine. Ben needed a safety net to love.
The spice was decent. I am not really into the 'daddy' kink so I would have been more interested without that, but I thought moving across the hall from your ex was a fun start to a book. I was not a big fan of how either character handled the 3rd act break up/meltdown. It was a missed opportunity. Overall a decent read.
Honestly just couldn’t read it anymore. I got to 68% I think and just gave up. Yes it’s cute but the book structure just wasn’t what I enjoyed. It felt rushed and overall felt kinda like I was 15 again reading a book written by another 15 year old on wattpad.
DNF at 63%. I tried so hard to force myself to finish this book, but the nicknames just ruined it. Jessie, Jess, Jessalyn, Jessie girl, honey, hon, sweet cheeks, baby, babe, darlin’, etc. Ben/Mikey can’t speak a sentence without using at least one nickname
