First chapter sample:
Why did God hate me? Was He pissed off at something I did in my life? Was I not religious enough? Was it because I never prayed or went to church regularly? I asked myself those kinds of questions over the last seven years. After Dave and I had returned from our bike trip to France, where the powers of creation drafted me for their divine agenda, my life was no longer my own.

Human beings had no protection against the powers of a real angel, whether good or evil, so it didn’t come as a surprise that I got help. The angels in Hali called it divine endorsement. It’s cool stuff, but the novelty wore off for me a few years ago. Opening time windows any time I wanted was as easy as drinking a glass of water, essential but not exciting.

The time travel ability was purely utilitarian. There was no way they’d ever let me use it to have fun or even fall in love again. That was the most challenging part since the angels served Mary, my one-day fiancé, to a sniper in World War One. I never forgave them for that, and those selfish bastards never apologized.

Going to different times also grew old, but I made the best of them. I loved being in the 1930s. On this occasion, while I sat behind the wheel of a sparkling new black 1934 Duesenberg Phaeton with its cream leather interior, I listened to the gentle spring rain as it pelted the car’s canvas roof with soft, wet thuds.

If you want to see how John Harrod was pulled into the angelic fold, read Genesis, The Hali Saga Part One.

The Hali Saga

Holy Time Traveling Chaos

Holy time-traveling chaos, Batman! This book is a wild ride!
I wasn't sure what to expect going into Vengeance, but wow – Andrew J. Weis absolutely delivered. This is the kind of book that grabs you by the collar in chapter one and doesn't let go until the last page.
John Harrod is such a refreshingly real protagonist. He's not some superhero who's thrilled about his powers – he's basically a regular guy who got drafted into an insane supernatural war he never asked for, and he's still bitter about it (can you blame him?). Watching him navigate 1970s Las Vegas while dealing with both mobsters AND angels is absolutely riveting. The author somehow makes this bonkers premise feel completely believable.
The 1970s Vegas setting is chef's kiss perfect. You can practically smell the cigarette smoke and feel the casino carpet under your feet. Mix in some Chicago mob drama, fallen angels with serious attitude problems, and time travel mechanics that actually make sense, and you've got yourself a genuinely unique story.
Fair warning: this moves FAST. Like, hold-onto-your-hat fast. But that's exactly what makes it so addictive. I may have stayed up way too late finishing it because I absolutely had to know what happened next.
If you like your thrillers with a supernatural twist and aren't afraid of stories that think outside the box, grab this one. You won't regret it.

Angels, Time travel and Gangsters

The way angels and time travel were weaved into a story about the early days of gangsters in Las Vegas was intriguing. The best part was you never knew who was an angel and who was human.
