After securing a major victory, Spenser feels she can finally catch her breath. But when an unexpected case lands on her doorstep, her life takes on a dramatic turn.
Now firmly established as the town Sheriff, Spenser and Ryker are in full celebration. But all is not well on the Muckleshoot Reservation. Chief Adaki of the Tribal Police believes the wrong man is sitting in prison. And he wants Spenser’s help to catch the real culprit.
After agreeing to assist, she uncovers irregularities buried deep in the case files. As new evidence comes to light, the pieces begin to line up, pointing to the most unlikely Evan Makawi.
Caught between duty and her love for Ryker, she treads carefully as she begins investigating his father for a rape and murder committed three decades ago. The verdict of this cold case hangs by a thread—and with it, the lives built on decades of lies.
Meanwhile, more trouble lands in Sweetwater when a new case, linked to multiple murders, lands on Spenser’s desk.
With taunting messages, intertwining trails, and two high-stakes cases converging at once, Spenser faces the greatest test of her career.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
This book had so many things just wrong with it. I'll start with some obvious points. When your investigating a murder and you go to the place of business where the victim worked, in this case the Danny guy, your going to get names and alibis for all his co workers. Why was this not done in the first place. Makes Spencer's policing look like a Mayberry sheriff. Not at all like someone who once worked for the FBI. Another thing I would have loved to see was her returning to the parents and letting them know she found justice for their daughter and maybe apologize for accusing or thinking of the dad as a strong suspect. This wasn't Spencer's finest case and was certainly very dislikable at times. If these last couple of books are any indication how the rest are going to go then I should probably go ahead and call it quits with this series. If your just bored and need something to read this book is doable but otherwise I would skip and find something more interesting
Newly elected (instead of appointed) Sheriff Spenser Song is asked by the Sheriff Adaki of the Tribal Police to look into the 30yr old murder of a 16yr old. The problem, there was a conviction & the "killer" has been in jail all that time and his most recent parole denied. He has been looking into this for all that time and now feels he needs Spenser's help.
There is very little in the case file, and the "so called" evidence minimal. Seems her predecessor Hinton did "the minimum". She agrees to take a look but there is no social media, barely any tech info and asking questions leads them to boyfriend Ryan's father.
At the same time, there are multiple home break-ins for small thefts with lots of damage to the homes. Working both cases, there is resolution to both.
Freshly elected sheriff, although for all the preceding books she was hired as sheriff but had to run against a miserable human being. Chief Adakai from the reservations asks Spencer Song to look into the murder of a girl from the res who was murdered 30 years ago& clearing the man in jail accused of murder. The other case she & her team are working on, 2 adolescents are destroying homes and stealing things they seem are valuable. Tht's the gust of the story. Needless to say.!, Spenser and her team of deputies and undersherif, Amanda, plus cyber tech, Jacob, they figure the outcome. You always know through twists & turns, both cases get solved
Trouble in the Falls(A Sweetwater Falls Mystery Book 16)
OMG!!!!!!! This was an amazing story, that to more the 30 years to solve, but it was totally worth the wait. You will never guess who raped and murdered a 16 year old girl. Then there is also breaking and entering into 3 separate homes, and the destruction gets worse each time. So Spencer and her team have their hands full, but they win in the end. I can't wait to read the next book.
Spencer and her team have their hands full with really intriguing cases. The banter between them especially between brother and sister always lightens the stressful times. Spencer and the team has also proven themselves with the people on the Res. I’m so looking forward to what looks like a very interesting case. Please don’t let us wait too long 🫶🇦🇺
This was a fantastic story with Spencer going all out to find the person responsible for a crime that happened long ago and solving it with lots of suspense and action. Thank you for this awesome story.
Elle Gray is one of my favorite authors, I enjoy all of her books so much. The characters and they are simply un put down. I’m so excited for the next book in this series. If you have not tried her books, please go check them out as well worth your time.
I have loved this series. The latest book keeps you on your toes with exciting twists and turns. I would recommend any of the Elle Gray's series. I have read all of them and none have been disappointing.
I'm still reading this book but I have hit a part that just wouldn't let me continue without making a comment. I generally enjoy Ms. Grays books, some more than others but I have always enjoyed this Falls series. I know the main characters of all her books are strong females which is all good. The one downside of this is that the very thing the characters bemoan about men (sexist remarks, putting hands on a woman)seem to be perfectly fine for a woman to do. In particular in chapter 24 of this book the suspect the sheriff and undersheriff are searching for has a domestic violence charge in his record because he pushed his wife as she was beating the crap out of him with a golf club. Now according to the passage referencing this, and I quote, "He put his hands on a woman, and that was a sin that was unforgiveable." Excuse me, protecting yourself from a beating with a golf club is an inexcusable sin because apparently it's okay for this woman to be beating on a man with a golf club? Now I don't know where Ms. Gray grew up or how she was raised but where I come from protecting yourself from a beating is entirely acceptable regardless of who is doing what to who. I will treat a woman like a lady as long as she acts like a lady but the minute she starts acting like she's a man by putting her hands on me or attacking me with a weapon, I'm gonna treat her just like I would a man. You reap what you sow. Ms. Gray needs to remember that men are not punching bags for women anymore than women are punching bags for men. And please, have Sheriff Spenser get this Undersheriff Amanda out of her sexist stereotyping
How she does it time and time again is beyond me! Her writing, the way her stories are depicted are fantastic. I am so happy to have happened upon her so many books ago! Love her and all the stories in my head!
