A Court of Blood and Oath

Rate this book
A Court of Blood and Oath is a why choose/RH dark romantasy with themes that could potentially be triggering.

My memory was gone. All that I knew was that I was found on the verge of death, bloody and torn to shreds by the creatures of the Dark Lands.

As I tried to heal my wounds, my heart was pulled in two different directions. One side offered me hope, safety. A life that I had always dreamed of. The other offered a dark path to the answers that I sought.

As Eldoria was plagued with the mysterious flu, and patrons of the town began to go missing, I must figure out where the danger lurked within our walls.

And when my lost memories finally started to surface, the truth shattered everything—I wasn’t just fighting against the darkness. I might have been a part of it all along. I soon realized that I might be fighting for the wrong side after all...

Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book.

I loved book 1. I loved how it was fast paced but still got good plot, characters and spice in it.

I will start off saying I knew going into this book, it was going to be a why choose, as that is how the author has marketed it. After reading book 1, I’m a bit disappointed in that direction honestly. I was hoping more for a love triangle vs a why choose. It just felt very random and out of character in my opinion. Nyx went from “I’m gonna kill that guy for touching her” to “he makes her happy too so I don’t have a problem sharing”. I personally am not a fan of why choose to begin with but went in open minded. But for me, Ryker feels more like a side character so I don’t like the why choose feel. Considering the book is written in Lilah and Nyx’s POV, he doesn’t seem to fit for me to be a why choose. I liked his character in book 1 and even commented on my review for that book that I want to see more of him to have some jealous Nyx scenes, but again, it feels like we diverted way off the track for this book.

We moved the plot forward and I’m going to be curious to see how book 3 goes with the trials and where Lilah and Nyx’s characters go from here. Need more Sadi too. She’s an underrated character! Also, I thought I was sensing some tension with her and Damon but then his character was very brief on page. Would like to see him back with the group.

Since this is a why choose, the spice is very spicing in this one 🌶️ we get both guys at the same time sprinkled in with some one on one time. Again, the dynamic was very strange to me at times, with one of the guys just like “ok he wants you, so I’ll just leave…but love you still.” Again, why choose isn’t really my thing so maybe it just takes getting used to.

Overall, I’m still intrigued by the story and WILL read book 3. I honestly would like to see the romance go back to how it was in book 1 but I guess we’ll see.

This book was packed full of plot and action. Super fast paced, I loved reading this!

Lilah goes from memory lost to warrior through this book. And we see Nyx and Ryker protecting her from all threats, including each other for a while.

There is some fun RH spice that adds to the story, it’s extremely well done. It’s so easy for RH to be consumed with spice but this is so well balanced,

The action here is excellent too. The monsters are great, detailed descriptions of battle scenes and fighting. We have kingdoms fighting each other and then the dark realm too. The landscapes are involved and come to life too.

This ends in a cliff hanger, you will want book 3 immediately!!

I did enjoy book 2 more than the first. It's very fast-paced with lots of action and spice.
Lilah is back with the hunters but has lost her memory. Towns nearby are suffering a mysterious flu, and people are going missing. Lilah and Ryder are sent to help. But her memory is returning, and she will have to make some agonizing decisions with her heart.
I do really like all MMCs in this story. I hope we can get Ryder's and Darkness 's POVs in the next book. I feel like for Darkness, there is a whole story waiting to be told, and with his sarcastic attitude, it has the potential to be awesome.
Initially, the why choose part felt a little awkward and could have been developed better. Lilah is not as annoying in this book, but as a Huntress, she still doesn't seem to win a lot of fights.
I am eagerly waiting for book 3.

A Court of Blood and Oath is the second book in this dark fantasy series, let me just say-it does not disappoint. The story is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. The MMC is a vampire fighting fiercely for his FMC and their future., but things get complicated as she finds herself torn between two male interests. With plenty of drama, tension, and some -paced spicy romantasy, this book had me hooked from start to finish. I happily gave it five stars!

Spoilers!!!!

Definitely has more spice than book one. I wasn’t prepared for the sudden change in our favorite Dark Prince in how he felt toward Ryker. It still leaves you hanging with a cliff hanger but my brain needs to know what happens next!

In the second book of the blood and vengeance series we continue to follow Lilah whose world has been turned upside down by the truths she has found out about her world. She must now find and take the Queen’s dagger in order to break the curse over the vampires that prevents them from walking in daylight in order to save Nyx. However upon returning to the mortals lands she has lost her memories from before entering the dark lands. Ryker, the soldier she first met after joining the Sunfire Court, is there for her and they are recruited by the Queen to investigate what is going on in her lands because the protection walls are weakening. All while Nyx is desperately trying to escape and get back to Lilah.
And yet again Lilah is constantly put through the wringer and just can’t seem to catch a break but she is constantly fighting to save the ones she has now come to call family. There were things I did not see coming and that made things even more interesting and I am very exciting to see what the dark trials will hold for our FMC in the next book.

This was a much anticipated book 2 for me and it did NOT disappoint. This book picked up right where book 1 ended. It was a fast start and caught my attention very quickly. Lilah, the FMC, was returning to her home land to retrieve the dagger from her queen that’s needed to break the curse for the Vampires. In the process of returning, Lilah loses her memory of what happened during her time in the Dark Lands. Ryker, a hunter friend of Lilah’s, finds her and saves her from her injuries obtained in her return. When her memories start to return, Lilah and Ryker try to figure out what the Queen is up to and to locate the dagger. 🗡️ During a scouting mission turned wrong Lilah reunites with Sadi and Nyx who take them back to the Dark Lands. The remainder of the story is full of twists and turns with visits to new realms all in attempt to break the curse. We also get to see Nyx’s “darkness” develop more and find out how Lilah will handle her love for Ryker AND Nyx.

This is the second part of a trilogy of fantasy books with the lead characters as Lilah and Nyx. The intricate story line continues flawlessly in this book with some new characters added in the form of Ryker and Sabine the Dark Queen.

The love that developed between Lilah and Nyx in the first book is further strengthened by the addition of Ryker who brings his own protective and calming abilities to the relationship. The adventures they undergo and the dangers they encounter make the story seem like a suspence novel. I loved the attention to detail in fantasy world-building that the talented author has woven in the story as well as the richly layered characters.

The book ends at the point where Lilah has to undergo Dark Trials to save the lost souls of the Dark Realm. I am looking forward to the third book to see what happens next in this engrossing series.

Highly recommend 👍🏻

Wow! Book 2 took me on a wild rollercoaster ride full of extra spice and more chaos.
There was more spicy encounters between Lilah and 2 MMC. The only thing I didn’t care for was the repetitive thoughts by Nyx, constantly saying how ok he was sharing Lilah with another man when before he met Lilah, he would have unalived him. One mention would have been sufficient and then maybe another mention much farther down in the story.
Other than that, this was a wild, pulse pounding journey to be on. More danger, more unrelenting obstacles and a massive shocker cliffhanger ending!!

Definitely recommend book 2 and not so calmly waiting for book 3.

This book carried off directly where Book 1 ended, we get relationship progressions, we get angst, we get some epic why choose which gives you butterflies - you cant hate any of the characters they all just grow on you and worm their way into your feels. Slow moving compared to book 1 but the character development needed that. We get to meet some new characters and one in particular that we got to see partially in book 1 makes a bigger appearance and I need more of it! The book ends on a cliffhanger, an epic set up for next book, which I need asap, and to buy physical copies as trophies. A definite must read series. Another great read from Kay which continues the trials and tribulations of Lilah and her friends. It really felt like a betrayal in the first few chapters when Lilah met Ryker again but I was soon over it lol and who knew it would turn out the way it did?

Lots of action and spicy romance loaded in this book and a new baddie appears which adds to the tense situations. Nyx and Ryker are just gorgeous and completely infatuated with Lilah and she is still so strong and sweet even though she’s been through hell, they are all such great lovable characters. I’m so pleased we are meeting the darkness more too 🙂

The ending was just fantastic (I’m a big fan of cliffies) and I can’t wait to see how Lilah gets on as she ventures into the dark trials.

This book is packed with action, spice, and twists. Picking up right where A Court of Blood and Sacrifice left off, Lilah returns home to recover the dagger needed to break the vampire curse, but her memories of the Dark Lands are gone. When Ryker, her loyal hunter friend, finds her wounded and near death, he’s determined to protect her, even if it means facing Nyx again.

As a mysterious flu spreads through nearby towns and people begin to vanish, Lilah’s memories start to resurface, along with a dark truth that could shatter everything she believes. Caught between kingdoms, curses, and two dangerously devoted men, she must decide who to trust and how far she’s willing to go for the answers she seeks.

This second installment delivers fast-paced battles, more world-building, and an interesting “why choose” romance. However, I do feel this story is rushed and could be so much more detailed backstory and inner thoughts of the characters. While the story has spicy scenes, they seem to just show up without a lot of tension and build up. I also believe without the spicy scenes, this book reads very YA, vs adult. It was a quick read, a strong plot basis, but definitely left me needing more from the story and relationships.

After reading book one I thought there is no way the second book can up do this, I was wrong, and she showed me just how wrong I was! I absolutely tore this book up, there is so much going on in this book, but never does it feel "to much". I love the way you seethe continued growth of the relationships from the first book. You get inveted even more into the characters and finding out how it all plays out. If you needing a little spice as well this is a great book, iykyk! if you read the book you will see :). She is an amazing author and her books are truly amazing, cannot wait to read more from her!

This was a strong sequel in the Blood and Vengeance series, it had that element that I enjoyed from the previous book A Court of Blood and Sacrifice, It uses the vampire element that I was looking for and enjoyed the concept and how it was used in this universe. I was invested in what was happening with the characters and how well it continued this story and world. Kay Marrie has a strong writing style and was hooked from start to finish and was glad it continued this world perfectly.

A Court of Blood and Oath is an excellent sequel in the Blood and Vengeance series! I enjoyed the first book, but this one delivered even more action, spice, and emotional twists. The dark romantasy world of Eldoria pulled me in right away, mystery, danger, and vampires done so well.
Kay Marrie’s writing is fast-paced and addictive, and I loved how the characters and relationships grew while keeping me hooked from start to finish. This sequel raised the stakes and expanded the world beautifully, and now I’m even more excited for what comes next.

Oh my gosh! I was so excited to read book 2 and it didn’t let me down! That cliffhanger from book 1 it picked up right into book 2. I love not knowing what’s going to happen. Everything the FMC goes through her reality is completely changed. The plot is so fresh and so good! The world building is still next level and I’m here for it. I inhaled the entire book in one day and I couldn’t stop reading it. The ending! Gasps! I highly recommend book 1 and 2 and I can’t wait to read more from this author. The MMC probably my favorite vampire book bf. I’m obsessed with him!! -Kerin Ray

This was the 2nd book in this series and I enjoyed it just as much as the 1st. This book picks up right where the 1st one ended and was action from the 1st page. Lilah is as fierce as she can be, never backing down from a challenge. Can we say Why Choose...yes I was here for it. I am excited for book 3 because there will be trials. If you enjoy a good vampire story you need to add this to your TBR

This book is fast-paced, action-packed, and impossible to put down. Lilah’s journey from memory loss to warrior is gripping, with Nyx and Ryker protecting her from every threat—including each other at times.

The why-choose romance is well balanced, with spice that enhances the story rather than overtaking it (and it’s definitely hot). The action is excellent, featuring vivid battle scenes, monsters, warring kingdoms, and a dark realm that all come to life on the page. Full of twists, adventure, and momentum, this is an exciting start to the series and leaves you eager for book two.

I was a bit turned off on the love dynamic that happened. That's not what I expected, especially from reading book 1.

The book was still good though. Im curious for book 3. Love the dual POV too.

Im hoping for an HEA in book 3. The writing is good, though I felt it lacked emotion in some areas.

My review is voluntary as I received an ARC. Thanks for the opportunity

I DNF this book so hard. The dynamic of their relationship was throwing me off, it was just so strange and I’m a fiend for why choose. Ryker is portrayed more as a side character than a love interest. I got the ick in book one and tried to push through this one but couldn’t do it.
