Once upon a time, Caelian Starstorm could grant wishes upon stars. Now, she’s forced to adjust to a life without her magic. Unable to participate in the Midsummer Season to find a husband, Caelian is sent to Brackroth along with the broodyGeneral Kjeld Holtstrom. But Caelian has a plan of her own—to prove she’s worth more than her past mistakes.
Kjeld never wanted to become fae. With his mortality stolen, he’s lost without a purpose, and Caelian is the one to blame. Sent on a mission to uncover information about a newly reigning witch queen, Kjeld intends to fulfill his obligations and remain in Brackroth permanently. But his unnatural obsession with Caelian leads his plans astray.
As their adventure leads them to a world of enchantment, Caelian and Kjeld will be forced to confront their past. But with another rise of corrupt magic in Aeramere and new threats on the horizon, they must each make a choice.
Listen to the logic of their minds, or give in to the desire of their hearts?
No, Kjeld was not madly in love with Caelian. He was fucking obsessed with her.
3.25 stars
I think maybe I’ve just lost interest in this series at this point. Even though I really liked the last one, this one was quite boring. It moved the plot along, since certain things were revealed, but I was really looking forward to some tension and an enemies-to-lovers situation, but that lasted for like, 1 chapter. I also can’t seem to keep the characters straight in my head since all their names blur together lol. There was also supposed to be a neurodivergent rep, but I didn’t really like how that was written, so… I think if you’re super invested in these characters and world, it’ll be a perfectly fine read for you, but just not for me this time.
It did have more dragons, and baby dragons, which I am always a fan of.
I fear I am losing some steam with this series. I absolutely loved the first two, but the third one and this one were just okay. I understand that there will be 4 more books in the series, and since they all follow an overarching plot, I guess there is still more secrets and danger to unravel. For me personally, however, the plot is just moving too slow. Not a lot happened in this book besides a slow burn and a journey to a different part of the kingdom. Although I do love the characters and want to know what happens, I'm not totally convinced it's going to be enough for me to continue 😅 I did love watching Kjeld and Caelian fall in love, but I just wish this gave me a little bit more.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an eArc 🫶🏻
This book feels like stepping into a twilight-drenched fairytale where every choice hums with consequence and every glance burns just a little too long. All The Wonder of Wishes delivers that perfect storm of aching romance, dangerous magic, and characters who are just one bad decision away from ruin… and you will love every second of it.
Caelian is the kind of heroine who lingers in your chest. Stripped of the very magic that once defined her, she’s raw, determined, and quietly unraveling. Watching her try to prove her worth without the thing that made her extraordinary? Deliciously painful. She’s not just fighting the world… she’s fighting the version of herself she used to be.
And then there’s Kjeld. Broody. Bitter. Devastatingly obsessed. The man is basically a walking storm cloud with a sword, and every scene he’s in crackles with tension. His resentment toward Caelian tangled with that undeniable pull? It’s the kind of slow-burn that sneaks up behind you and then suddenly has you in a chokehold.
Their dynamic is everything: ✨ enemies-to-something-more energy ✨ forced proximity with emotional landmines ✨ obsession that toes the line between ruin and devotion
The world-building wraps around you like enchanted fog. Between Brackroth, the looming threat of corrupt magic, and the rise of a witch queen, the stakes feel sharp and ever-present. There’s a constant sense that something wicked is stirring just out of sight… and it keeps you turning pages like your life depends on it.
But the real magic? The emotional tension. Every choice, every touch, every almost-confession feels weighted. Logic vs desire isn’t just a theme here… it’s a battlefield.
If you love: 💜 broken heroines finding their strength 💜 broody, morally conflicted MMCs 💜 romantasy with real stakes and aching tension 💜 magic that feels as dangerous as it is beautiful
…then this book will own you.
Final verdict: haunting, addictive, and laced with just enough heartbreak to make the romance hit harder. This one doesn’t just grant wishes… it makes you feel every single one of them. ✨
Let’s just say magic fae meets Bridgerton and add dragons !!
This one had baby dragons !! In this book Caelian Starstorm and her story with general Kjeld. They are sent off on a mission as Caelians magic has disappeared. And again did mention baby dragons ? lol
That’s all I am gonna say other then just go read it !! This series is one of my all time faves and can’t wait for the next one after this one !!
Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Where Magic Feels Like a Memory Waiting to Happen
Some stories do not rush you. They gently pull you in, wrapping around your thoughts like a quiet promise. ‘All the Wonder of Wishes’ is one of those stories that unfolds with a soft kind of magic, where emotions linger longer than the words themselves.
The pacing leans into a reflective rhythm, allowing space for both the characters and the reader to breathe. It is in those quieter moments that the story finds its strength. There is a tenderness woven through the narrative, a sense that every wish carries weight, and every choice echoes beyond the moment it is made.
The emotional core is where this story truly shines. The characters feel grounded in their struggles and hopes, shaped by past wounds and quiet longing. Their journeys are not driven by grand spectacle, but by something more intimate. The need to heal. The courage to hope again. That subtle psychological layer adds depth, making their growth feel real and earned.
The structure supports this beautifully. Instead of sharp twists or constant tension, the story builds through connection and reflection. Each chapter feels like another step deeper into something fragile yet meaningful, creating a sense of calm anticipation rather than urgency.
This is not a story that demands attention with noise. It holds it with feeling. And long after the final page, it leaves behind a quiet question about the wishes we carry and the ones we are brave enough to let go.
Magical realism | emotional journey | healing and growth | second chances | introspective characters | quiet romance | hope and longing
This being an interconnected standalone it didnt feel as though I was missing out on too much. There were places where I was like O that definitely happened in the other books but it never effected the actual story. With that said this was a really good read, the inner conflict Kjeld has through the first half of the book and his actual feelings towards Caelian drove the story home and the tension was palpable. I am definitely going back to read the other prior to the next book.
I enjoyed this one. Caelan's longing for Kjeld to notice and love her came through strong, and I felt her pain when he dismissed her and blamed her for saving his life and turning him fae. He was often cruel with careless words and dismissive actions.
One thing that took me out of the story was the abrupt shift in Kjeld's feelings from contempt to love for Caelan. I understand fighting it due to resentment and then giving in, but everything happened so quickly that it felt like whiplash; like one moment, he's like, I blame you for taking away my choice, and the next, I love you so much; I can't live without you. After that, the conflict between them abates, and the heat ramps up, so if you're looking for spice, you'll see the shift around 60%.
I loved Caelan's character growth. She learned the importance of standing up for herself and that her feelings are valid and not to allow others to diminish them. She realized that she could do hard things, even if it meant breaking her own heart by distancing herself from Kjeld. She took back her power and stood up for herself, telling him in no uncertain terms that he could not speak to he unless it was in a professional capacity.
I applauded her for clearly communicating her boundaries and putting her mental and emotional well-being above others'. Often, we don't know our own worth, and we let people walk all over us because we would rather have a part of them than none at all.
All the Wonder of Wishes is book four in the interconnected standalone series Starstorm. While it can be read on its own, I really feel readers will get important background details and a clearer understanding of the underlying plot that flows through the series by starting with book one, All the Chaos of Constellations.
The series is about eight siblings, and this is book four, so there are a lot of characters (siblings, significant others, and quite a few other side characters) to keep straight. Reading from the beginning of the series will give readers a clearer understanding of who's who and the roles they play, while introducing a few new ones with each book. I believe the addition of a character list and a glossary of terms would be extremely beneficial, especially since several realms are involved. I found myself lost quite a bit.
Overall, All the Wonders of Wishes was a satisfying read, and I may go back and read the previous books before the next one is released.
I received an ARC from the author and The Nerd Farm in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Rating: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ All the Wonder of Wishes continues the Starstorm series with Caelian and Kjeld’s story—one that promises emotional tension, high stakes, and an enemies-to-lovers dynamic set against a richly expanding fantasy world. There were elements I appreciated, particularly the way this installment advances the overarching plot. Key revelations add depth to the series, and the world-building continues to grow in scope with political tensions, magic systems, and the ongoing central conflict. The inclusion of dragons—especially the baby dragons—was a definite highlight and added a sense of charm and warmth to the story. Caelian’s character arc stood out the most to me. Stripped of her magic, she is forced to redefine her identity and worth, and her journey toward self-assertion and emotional independence was compelling. Her decision to set boundaries and prioritize her own well-being added meaningful depth to her character. Kjeld, on the other hand, brings a darker, more emotionally conflicted presence. His dynamic with Caelian is rooted in resentment, obligation, and underlying attachment, which creates the foundation for a potentially strong romantic arc. However, the execution of that romance did not fully work for me. The enemies-to-lovers tension felt short-lived, resolving much more quickly than expected. The shift in Kjeld’s feelings—from bitterness to intense devotion—felt abrupt, which reduced the emotional impact of their relationship development. Additionally, as the series expands, the large cast of characters and similar naming conventions made it difficult at times to keep track of everyone, which affected my immersion. I also found the representation of neurodivergence less effective than anticipated, as it did not feel as thoughtfully developed as it could have been. Overall, while this installment contributes important developments to the series and offers moments of emotional resonance, it did not engage me as strongly as previous books. That said, readers who are deeply invested in the Starstorm world and its characters will likely still find this to be an enjoyable continuation.
Tropes / Elements ☆Enemies-to-lovers (brief) ☆Forced proximity ☆Brooding / morally conflicted MMC ☆Heroine without her powers ☆Emotional healing & self-worth ☆Found family / interconnected series ☆Dragons (including baby dragons) ☆Political intrigue & magical conflict
I was really looking forward to this one because I thought the set up for Caelian and Kjeld had a lot of potential (they were actually the couple I think I was most excited about). I was looking forward to an angsty slowburn between them. Unfortunately, what we got was a whole bunch of instalust that drove the relationship for most of the book (like Kjeld was literally just lusting after her the whole time and then being mad at himself for it when he remembered he was mad at her, on repeat lol) but they were already getting a little physical around 20-25% in.🙃 idk, to me that’s just so earlyyyy. I prefer more build up for the tension. They only work through things when someone essentially just tells Kjeld to get over himself and all the sudden he’s able to have a personal breakthrough about his deeper feelings. Which I felt seemed too external. I wanted more emotional depth and connection between him and Caelian to convince me (and him) of their love (beyond just the lust and infatuation). 🤷♀️
I did enjoy the expansion of the worldbuilding into Druid territory, the continuation of the overarching plot and the mysterious happenings in their kingdom, and the dynamics between the Starstorm siblings. Idk, I think I was just a little disappointed with this one because I expecting a different dynamic between Caelian and Kjeld going into this. There are 4 more books planned and I think I may be losing some steam with this series, but will probably continue it because I’m invested at this point lol and I am still curious about the overarching plot and some of the other siblings (particularly, Sarelle and Prince Aspen. Though, it seems Nyxian is up next based on the epilogue).
Thank you to Hillary Raymer for providing me with this eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to Hillary for entrusting me with an early copy!
All the Wonder of Wishes by Hillary Raymer Starstorm Series number 4 (8 planned, each book is a new couple) Releases 4/28!
Dual POV, hate to love, Bridgerton with magic, lost magic, dragon riders, BABY DRAGONS, fake engagement, forced proximity, yearning, continued world building, spicy
I continue to enjoy this series!! They feel lighthearted, yet are full of emotion and still have high stakes! I like how each book is another sibling with a story arc, but there is still an overall story line as well! We are back to another broody dragon rider with Kjeld, which I am not at all sad about! And I felt for Caelain with everything going on and was cheering her on when she put her foot down to stand up for herself. And baby dragons, come on! This is such a beautiful world and it is so fun that each book expands it! We get a bit of the lead in to the next sibling in the epilogue and I can't wait to read the next book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 What I liked most about this series is that it can absolutely be read as a standalone. I was gifted an e-ARC but wasn’t provided the previous books, and normally I would hop on Libby to catch up first. Thankfully, I was told I could jump right in and still fully understand what was happening and it did not disappoint. The story takes us on two separate quests, with each character ultimately walking a similar path. One is searching for information about a newly reignited Witch Queen, while the other is trying to uncover why her mother made the choices she did. Along the way, both characters find themselves battling their growing feelings for each other. Perfect for readers who love a little enemies-to-lovers tension mixed with a slow burn romance.
ARC Review- All the Wonder of Wishes by Hillary Raymer
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was super great to be back with the Starstorm siblings! I truly missed being immersed in the world of Aeramere! . This is book 4 in the Starstorm series. She used her magic to save his life. But it’s a life he never wanted. . Read if you love: 💐 Grumpy/sunshine 🌲 Reluctant allies 💐 Only one cabin 🌲 Forced proximity 💐 “My wife” 🌲 Tending wounds 💐 Baby dragons
Caelian’s and Kjeld’s story hurt my heart for a bit just because of how almost unrequited the love was and all the push back on Kjeld’s side. It was such a good depiction of the struggle Kjeld was battling in how real is what I’m feeling for Caelian or is it just based on her wish. . I’m immensely proud of Caelian. She stood her ground and made Kjeld feel the consequences of his words and actions. She knew she deserved better and even though she loved him, she demanded respect and to be treated with the love and care from a man who is sure of his feelings for her. He eventually came to his senses thank god! . Caelian and Kjeld finally found a true home and I loved how supportive they were of each other! I’m so happy that Caelian found a place where she belonged and felt like herself. This book was a good mixture of sweet and loving and spicy! I love the little cameos from the other siblings. The siblings and their spouses love each other fiercely. The tender and endearing moment between Caelian and Ariesian at the end was beautiful. I’m super excited for his book! After the revealing truth and all the Easter egg left behind, I have so many questions!! Overall, this was such a good sequel and I already can’t wait for the next one!
This is a slower, more emotional journey than some of the previous books, focusing on healing and self-discovery. A mix of celestial magic, heavy angst, and characters who are teetering on the edge of ruin, this was a fun read!
✨ Forced Proximity & One Cabin ✨ "My Wife" energy ✨ Neurodivergent Lead ✨ Broody General vs. Sunshine Healer ✨ Reluctant Allies
I got an advanced reader copy of the book. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Even though I didn’t read the other books it was easy to jump in and know what was going on. It was great to read a book where the FMC and MMC already had history and knew each other. It made the immediate tension hit harder.
I was an easy read with a good plot and some great tension. Bathtub is all I am going to say.
I definitely interested in reading the other books now.
This is the second star storm book I’ve read! I own and read the first and then I own the second but I received the eARC of this book and as they are all interconnected standalone as I read this one next! This book is great and if you love grumpy x sunshine(ish she’s a little depressed sunshine but sunshine none the less) then this book is for you! Follow along as kjeld and Cae travel across the realms in search of answers regarding Aeramere and the Celestine family! Definitely a great book to read if your fans of bridgerton and fantasy!
This is hands down the best book of the series! I don’t know how Hillary keeps topping herself, but this series just keeps getting better and better with each book.
I absolutely love this FMC!! 🥰 I felt soo connected to her. She stands up for herself and won’t let people walk all over her, but she’s respectful about it. She was relatable and level headed and didn’t make bad decisions just to keep the plot moving.
The MMC gives hot Viking vibes 🥵 enough said. He’s also obsessed with her, but trying to process his feelings because he’s still mad that she turned him Fae and now he can never go to Valorahan, even though he knows that she didn’t do it maliciously. He absolutely makes up for it tho 😏
Tropes: Tension Yearning Groveling One bed One dragon 🤭
I cannot wait for book 5!!! 😆 I’m counting down the days. This is slowly turning into one of my favorites series.
Thank you Hillary Raymer for this incredible ARC!!!

🌍 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕦𝕚𝕝𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘: I AM A HUGE FAN of this author, even so this is the second of the 4 books I’ve given the full 5 stars. This one had everything I love, rejection, jealousy, yearning, angst, forced proximity, magic, dragons and internal struggles! The pacing is wonderful, it was fast and kept me on my toes, not wanting to put the book down! The world building was so detailed but light and breezy, there were many locations and traveling time on a dragon to learn about and love. Which also meant we got lots of characters but again, nothing confusing or heavy, no info dumps, just easy to read well written romantasy.
🧝♂️ ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤: I love the characters in this series, the main family, their prospective partners and then the key players of the foreshadowing mysteries. I love how cae is a strong FMC, she was not only independent but she was fierce and fiery and knew her worth!! My god her part of the story was delicious! And then there’s the druids, what a great sub plot and found family they presented us with! I obviously loved the vampire lord too!
🪧𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: If you love rejection and jealousy, yearning and angst and great side characters then this is for you! Open door spice with a damn strong FMC, baby dragons and a strong sense of foreboding await you in these pages of perfect romantasy!
⭐️⭐️ I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands
⭐️⭐️.5 It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail] Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!
🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥 This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
SPICE SCALE: 🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action
🌶️🌶️– a lot of segsual language and some on-page open door action, may be occurring a couple of times
🌶️🌶️🌶️– a lot of explicit action and dirty talk, occurring frequently with 2/3 lurvers
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – super graphic and explicit, occurring 4 or more times, can be more grey and taboo themed.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – Kinks and Fet!shism, explicit and super graphic. It is likely to be tushy play, toys, playrooms, and more dark / taboo fantasies and realities.
Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book! I’ve been an arc reader since book 2 and just absolutely LOVE this series and eagerly anticipate each new release 🥰
This is book 4 of 8 (we’re 1/2 way there! 🥳) and follows Caelian and Kjeld.
She saved his life making her own wish come true, but only bitter resentment from him came of it. He was ready to die a warrior’s honorable death, and now, he may be alive but now he’s fae and feels lost in a new world. She may have done it out of love but he only sees it as selfish. Her consequence? Her magic is gone, the voices of wishes are gone, and the man she’s head over heels for can’t stand to be in the same room as her.
To help alleviate her feeling of worthlessness during the upcoming marriage season, Caelian’s brother Aries tasks her to accompany Kjeld back to Brockbath to get more info on the new witch queen who took over. He doesn’t want to bring her along and she isn’t keen on accompanying him either, but she has other plans in mind. She hopes to travel to a new kingdom filled with Druids, to get any and all information on her mother and why she may have murdered their father. Why she never loved them. What she may find though isn’t what she expects.
And that grumpy General who’s been avoiding her? He can’t keep her out of his mind and when potential interest from others arises, his own fae instincts kick in.
We build a lot of the world and plot in this book! We not only expanded the world but get a lot more info on the characters we’re all highly suspicious of. It took a turn you may not expect and moves the story forward while also focusing on the romance story.
Caelian is not your typically FMC. She’s not this natural strong willed warrior. She’s quiet and overall doesn’t see herself in the best of light. Without her magic, she feels worthless to her family and will do anything to prove herself, especially to Aries.
Caelian and Kjeld’s relationship is definitely one of back and forth. It wasn’t just that she brought him back from death, it’s that he feels like she did something further to force him to fall in love with her, even if initial attraction and feelings were there before turning fae. She’s apologized numerous times for her actions but she’s done groveling for someone who will never hear her words. Kjeld has a lot of self discovery he goes through this book as well to find his own worth in this new world and new body.
As always, the spice 🌶️ is hot 🥵🥵 we have a virgin FMC who is only coming into discovering her pleasure and an MMC constantly wanting to make her feel sky high in her own body ❤️
As this family continues to grow and add new characters, I love that we still see them all coming together and integrate their new married in family members to their strengths. And as always, the brotherly protectiveness coming from the boys 😂 Caelian and Aries especially have a heart warming moment that made my heart sing ❤️❤️
The epilogue opens up to who the next book will be about. For the first half of this book, I thought we were going to get a certain sibling that I have been WAITING for and wanting so much, but by the 2nd half of the book, I knew it was going to go a different direction. I’m still excited FOR SURE! I just wish we could get the next 4 books at once at this point 😂 the waiting game is killing me! lol
I love this series so much! It’s one of my favorites of all time! ❤️❤️ can’t wait for the next 4 books!!
What can I say? Adult fairy tales get me every single time, and All the Wonder of Wishes is no exception ✨
At its core, this is a story about an intense dislike-to-lovers dynamic where desire, resentment, and yearning take centre stage from very early on. The chemistry hits fast, with a very descriptive and sensual scene around the 20% mark 👀 From that point on, their relationship becomes a constant push and pull between anger, attraction, and everything in between.
The book is written in third person, with alternating chapters between Caelian and Kjeld, which allows us to truly understand what each of them is thinking and feeling. This dual perspective works beautifully, especially in a story so driven by emotional conflict. We witness Kjeld’s internal struggle, his anger, his sense of loss, and that undeniable pull toward Caelian, while also experiencing Caelian’s pain, her loneliness, and the weight of the choice she made. It adds so much depth to their dynamic, because as readers, we’re constantly aware of both sides… even when they can’t fully understand each other themselves.
Now, let’s talk about the romance 👀✨ Because in this book, the dislike-to-lovers dynamic, the yearning, and the tension between them are really the main focus. The romantic plot feels much more prominent than the mystery surrounding Caelian’s mother, which sits more in the background.
This is not a slow burn at all. The book doesn’t hold back, and the tone is set quite early with those more descriptive and sensual moments. Caelian is inexperienced, which adds another layer to their dynamic and makes their interactions feel even more intense and emotionally charged. So if you enjoy romance that leans more into tension, desire, and spice rather than complex political plots or heavy worldbuilding, this is going to be such a fun and addictive read for you ✨
On top of all the romance and the banter we love from that classic dislike-to-lovers trope, we also get baby dragons hatching from their eggs, a powerful and fascinating extended family, and a richly magical world that makes everything even more immersive.
Also, for my Bridgerton girlies 👀✨ we do get that “find a match” energy with balls, dresses, and social dynamics woven into the story, which just makes everything even more fun.
This is actually book 4 in a series of interconnected stories, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone without missing much. It’s the first one I’ve read, and now I definitely want to go back and read the rest because there’s clearly a bigger plot connecting all the books and I’d love to understand it more. There are apparently 8 books in total, so we’re about halfway through the series with this one ✨ I’d say the spice level is around a 3🌶️ There were a few phrases from the male lead that personally put me off a bit, but I know that’s totally down to personal taste.
And thank you to The Nerd Fam for sending me this ARC 🤍📚
I singed up to read this for THE NERD FAMs early readers book club not knowing this was the fourth book in the series. So I took the weekend to binge books 1-3, and it was so worth it. You can definitely read this on their own but there is so much world building and character development over the series that you will not get the full joy of this story without the background.
So I quick run down, mini spoilers for books 1-3 as I list the books and the siblings they follow.
BOOK ONE follows Novalise (star fated believer, star power) and Asher (fire magic, vowed to never fall in love) after they kiss under the mistletoe and a mate bond forms. BOOK TWO follows Creslyn (fast learner and a little darkness) and Drake (The dark assassin, shadow daddy) as they try to break Drakes curse. BOOK THREE follows Solarius (Moonlight magic, promise breaker) and Narissa (who loathes him, potion master) as they fight their fated bond in this second chance romance. BOOK FOUR follows Caelian (Grants Wishes) and General Kjeld (Drakes Gerneral, dragon rider) as they struggle with changes in themselves and figuring out the underlying plot of the interconnected mystery and rumours of war.
This review is mainly for book four but I am really enjoying the series overall. I like the siblings and the family dynamics. I like how each sibling is so different but has their unique role in the story and how it is all important to the overall plot. This series is just getting started as there are 8 siblings so we still have a few books to go. So far I would rank them book 2, book 1, book 4 and then book 3. Based on the romance tropes alone. However, for the overall story book four links the story together so much and things are starting to make a lot more sense with key players and villains to watch out for. It’s hard to pick a favourite. Again, these are all really great stories on their own or in order. Book fours story itself is whimsical and has that fairytale feel. You have the evil just out of sight that is ever present that builds up the tension that something is coming. The physical tension between Caelian and Kjeld is perfection, the bath tub scene……and the spicy moments are delightful. I loved the baby dragons and raising of them (Brohm, Pyran and Lunaris). So I am very excited to see where we go next. The epilogue teases us with Nyxian POV so fingers crossed.
The STARSTORM Siblings Ariesian (The Great Stag, Power and Leadership) Solarius (Azuralis, Goddess of the Sea, a Triton, Balance) Novalise (Estrela’s crown, Goddess of the Moon and Stars) Sarelle (Caelifera of the Mountain, Protection and the Power of Nature) Tovian (Aedes the Fae Warrior, Notched Bow and Arrow, Focus and Direction) Nyxian (Cervo the Lone Wolf, Independence and Resiliance) Caelian (The tree of Life, Growth and Renewal) Creslyn (Vespira the Druid, Emerald Staff of Vines, Sign of Change)

Caelian Starstorm once had the power to grant wishes… until she used all her magic to save a man who now wants nothing to do with her.
Now powerless and cast aside, she’s sent on a mission with Kjeld Holstrom, a broody general who blames her for the life he lost.
As they travel together, old wounds, unspoken feelings, and rising danger begin to blur the line between resentment and something much deeper.
With dark magic stirring and their pasts catching up to them, they’ll have to decide: protect their hearts… or risk everything for a second chance.

✨ My review:
Okay… here’s my honest take.
If you’re looking for a slow burn with a long, drawn-out buildup, this one leans a little differently. The connection and attraction between Caelian and Kjeld is present early on, even with all the tension and resentment between them… so the romantic energy starts strong rather than slowly building over time.
The more intimate moments don’t fully happen until later, but there is definitely a strong undercurrent of chemistry throughout the first half of the book. One element I did find interesting was the virgin bride aspect once they’re married. This added a unique layer to their dynamic and how their relationship develops.
That said, I still enjoyed the story overall.
There’s a solid plot running alongside the romance, especially with the mission, the magic system, and the political tension. I just found myself wanting more depth in certain areas… especially the dragons (I needed MORE 🐉) and a clearer explanation of how Caelian lost her powers after saving Kjeld. That part felt a bit confusing, and I’m guessing it connects more to the broader world.
Since this is an interconnected standalone, you can read it on its own, but I do think having context from earlier books might make some elements feel more complete.
It does wrap up with a satisfying HEA for this couple, while still leaving room for the world and story to continue and I’m definitely curious to see where it goes next.
If you are looking for a Romantasy with tension, yearning and everything you could want in a fae General , this is the book for you. All the Wonder of Wishes is book 4 in the interconnected standalone series Star Storm, by Hillary Raymer. Firstly, I would like to thank the author, Hillary Raymer and the Nerd FAM Book Club for giving me this ARC. Importantly, this book contains content that may be triggering, so please/ check the content/ trigger warnings.
I absolutely loved this book and have added the others in this series to my ever-growing TBR. As I mentioned previously, this book is an interconnected standalone book; you don't need to read the others before this one. This was the first book I read in this series, and it did not feel like I missed out on much. You could easily work out the plot and what was going on. The story and the romance flowed so smoothly with one another. I loved how this book, and I am guessing the others in the series, both have mini plots to each story, creating an overall arching story. Each character and the side character were written so well into the story; each played a Significant role in the storyline. I also loved how you would think certain things and characters would think that certain things would occur; however, it was not what you were expecting.
Caelian and Kjeld's relationship showed how both these characters were struggling with certain events (you have to read to find out) and how they pushed each other apart. Over time, you see that their worries were holding them back, and the more time they spend together, you see that they can't hide their feelings for each other . Kjeld was written so well, you can see how much the change of (redacted) has affected him and his feelings for Caelian. I love his character growth, seeing him grow and change into not just a better version of himself but also a better version for Caelian. Caelian's character made me want to just go into the book and hug her; she goes through so much while trying to understand what has/is happening and trying to find answers. You can see how she struggles with losing a part of herself and how she now feels like she needs to prove that she is not useless and still can do things. Overall, I loved this book and these characters and hope you read this on release day. Happy reading.
“All the Wonder of Wishes” is book 4 in the “Starstorm Series” by Hillary Raymer. A mild bully romance with a side of friends-enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity, this Romantasy continues the Starstorm siblings storyline with unexpected twists and turns.
Kjeld is angry. He wasn’t supposed to be Fae. He was supposed to spend his afterlife in Valhoran. Instead, his plans are stolen from him by Caelian Starstorm, a wish-granting Fae who wished for him to come back to life as an immortal Fae. Caelian Starstorm has lost her magic for making selfish wishes, lost Kjeld, and is losing herself in the process. Torn between obsession and avoidance, the two are sent on a mission to Blackroth to determine the danger of a new Queen.
This book exposes and explores more of Raymer’s world through a unique lens: style. Diverging from the “Bridgerton” costuming that the prior novels maintained, Caelian’s style changed to reflect each stop of their journey. Without going into detail, we see her behavior and attitude change as their journey progresses, and I enjoy how this supports her character growth.
This book read more slowly for me than the others, despite the lure and breadth of information we uncovered. In addition to learning about new and potential love interests for the Starstorm siblings, we’re also able to make a major dent in solving the Zenos and Trysta Starstorm mystery and Queen Elowyn’s involvement in it. Although the overarching storyline will continue into the next four books, I feel like we’ve reached a critical point that will keep me coming back for more.
The romance between Kjeld and Caelian shifts quickly from anger and avoidance to obsession and love, and the transition is not easy. Both of them have their own growth journeys to complete, and while the shift was slightly startling for me, I liked the devoted and obsessed man Kjeld became. This book felt like a ~🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 for me; Kjeld and Caelian are making up for lost time with desires they can’t seem to quell.
“All the Wonder of Wishes” can be read as a standalone; Raymer does very well catching readers up as you read, rather than front-loading you with information. That being said, I would still recommend reading the series in order.
I thoroughly enjoyed this lush, vivid installment in Hillary Raymer’s Starstorm series—especially the character development—and I’m ecstatic with where everything ultimately landed. That said, the emotional tension is off the charts. The angst, the yearning, the constant denial of feelings… it was deliciously painful. But I’ll admit: I found myself craving just a touch more groveling from Kjeld. Their resolution felt a bit quick considering everything that came before (IMO). Don’t get me wrong, it was a glorious resolution—I just wanted a little more grovel.
Watching Caelian navigate life after losing her magic was both torturous and heartbreaking, and it made her arc all the more satisfying. Her internal struggle—to prove her worth beyond granting wishes or being “marriage material,” especially in the eyes of her eldest brother—added so much depth and emotional weight.
Kjeld’s internal battle with his feelings for Caelian was equally grueling. You can feel the tension in every interaction, making their dynamic even more gripping. Their chemistry and pull toward one another is undeniable, tormenting, and punishing… which makes what comes later all the more delectable.
Even reading this out of order, I never felt lost—though I’m absolutely going back to fully immerse myself in Aeramere. Raymer’s lush storytelling and diverse cast set up so many exciting possibilities for what’s to come.
Raymer continues to build gorgeous worlds filled with captivating characters and mouthwatering spice. I cannot wait for the story to continue.
And can we talk about the art for this book? Absolutely, breathtakingly STUNNING. 10/10… I’m on the floor.
Massive thank you to Hillary Raymer for the incredible ARC. I’m already excited for the next installments.

I have no clue what spell Hillary Raymer casts on these books, but they seriously need a warning label. Once you crack one open, I guarantee that you will be addicted and will not put it down.
All the Wonder of Wishes is the fourth book in the Starstorm series and follows the story of Caelian Starstorm and the broody Kjeld Holstrom. From the outset, I knew I was going to love their story because of the animosity Kjeld feels towards Caelian after she saved his life (or rather, due to the way in which she did it). Caelian paid the price for her efforts, and it was interesting to see her navigate the aftermath of her decision. Kjeld was so conflicted by his new abilities and his emotions and thoughts were engaged in a constant battle. I appreciated the depth this added to his character. I did get a bit of whiplash from Kjeld when his feelings suddenly shifted from contempt to love.
One of the things I love the most about Hillary’s FMCs is that they have some sense of self-preservation and will not let a man just walk over them. Caelian was no different and I enjoyed how she stood up for herself and pointed out some very harsh truths to Kjeld. Her character growth was amazing and I love that she did not diminish her feelings and made difficult choices even when they broke her heart.
The other thing that I loved about this book is the overall progression to the main plot. A wealth of new information comes to light, and it reveals some particularly intriguing details about Queen Elowyn and Trista Starstorm.
I was itching to see Caelian and Kjeld tackle some real challenges on their journey. It felt like everything came too easily, and I was eager to witness how they would handle obstacles and the strengths they would need to rely on to overcome them. That being said, it was also nice to have skipped the typical fantasy gloom and doom. It made the book refreshingly light and a breeze to complete.
Overall, I would highly recommend reading this book, and the series overall. I’ve enjoyed each of the books thus far!
Thank you Hillary Raymer for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
There is so much yearning in this book, that it is almost painful (in the best way).
I love these two beautiful idiots so much, and they made me yell at my Kindle several times because they are so dang stubborn! Kjeld is so full of self hate because of how much his body and life has changed, and Caelian is lost and mentally broken after losing her magic and taking the brunt of Kjeld's lashing out. So much pain to work through for the both of them. There is a ton of banter and poking at each other until they explode, and that is one of my favorite things.
It's not quite enemies to lovers, but has a similar vibe. They love to hate each other, but still deeply care underneath all that negativity.
This book is very intense, and so emotional as we watch them figure out what they want in life and work through their various issues and life changes. I almost cried when things finally clicked into place for the both of them. It was so worth all the angst we went through on this journey. It was beautiful and also hard to review without giving any spoilers. Hang in there I promise the ending is worth every second of the awfulness we watch them go through.
The spice is so plentiful, and perfect if you love a big size difference between partners. So much love, and also lots of care regarding consent too. I always love seeing that.
We also learned so much more lore and background stories of several of the characters, and it's all really coming together nicely with a few crazy big twists and turns tossed in for good measure. The plot threads for the next couple books have been nicely set in place as well. We have adorable baby dragons too. So dang cute! I am so excited to see what comes next.
Overall this was a fantastic addition to the series, and made me hungry for more!
I always know when my heart needs a pick-me-up that I can grab a book by Hillary and be swooned and taken care of. This interconnected series with unique magics, fae, and Bridgerton vibes is one that just keeps getting better and better.
We experience a dual POV in ATWOW, following through the eyes of Caelian, who has just recently lost her magic after wishing to save the life of the man she loves, and Kjeld, said saved man who is now a fae and completely enraged that his honorable death was stolen from him. When they are reluctantly tasked to find answers about a new queen and the druids, Kjeld and Caelian learn not only the secrets of the past but also whether their feelings are true or manifested by Caelian’s wish magic.
I adored Caelian and how sweet and positive she was even when it felt like the world was against her and the man she loved constantly humiliated her. She rose up to the challenge, shedding the skin of begging to be worthy and instead stepped into her worth on her own. Kjeld, once he finally gave in, was such a love and the ultimate definition of yearning. Watching these two work to understand the depths of who they are while eventually understanding that they could be stronger together was a beautiful process. And the spice was 🤌🤌🤌🤌. As always, there’s such a fantastic found family, banter, tension, and lower stakes ride. Answers are unraveling and I’m excited to see how the next four books with the remaining unmarried characters transpire!
Tropes you may find in ATWOW are forced proximity, reluctant allies to lovers, “my wife”, unique magics, medium high spice, neurodivergent rep, wound tending/comfort, found family, dragons, and a HEA!
Books 1-3 are available now and on KU! ATWOW releases 4.28.26.
Thank you, Hill, for allowing me the opportunity to be on your ST and this gifted arc. I love all you write!
⭐3.5-star review: First, a big thank you to The Nerd Fam for including this ARC in the book club. I truly appreciated the opportunity and had quite an enjoyable time, even if it left me with some mixed feelings. Before diving in, I want to mention that while this book can technically be read on its own, I believe that reading the earlier books first would really enhance the overall experience. The series has a continuous storyline, and coming in without that background meant I was occasionally trying to connect the dots as I went along. The atmosphere of this story is cozy and romance-focused; it feels more like historical romance than full-on fantasy, honestly. Imagine Regency-era vibes with a gentle sprinkle of magic. If you're expecting lots of action or detailed worldbuilding, you might be a bit disappointed. But if you're here for a slow-burning romance between two characters with a shared history and lingering tension, I think you'll find something genuinely charming and engaging. I kept remembering that Caelian and Kjeld already know each other from previous books, which changes the pacing of their romance; it's slow and layered, not rushed, because they have past experiences to work through. My main concern lies with how the central conflict wraps up. I’ll try to be vague to avoid spoilers, but there's a moment where everything seems to just... fall into place almost immediately. Feelings that felt very real, hurtful moments, and trauma that probably deserved proper processing; all of it seemed to be swept aside in what felt like a blink. I found myself thinking, wait, that's it? It didn't quite sit right with me and took away from the emotional depth that the rest of the book had been building. Still, the overall mood carries it quite further than I expected. I'm interested enough that I might pick up the earlier books and see more of this world.
It’s so good to go back to Aeramere and I have been so excited for Caelian and Kjeld’s story! We pick up the story with very little time having passed since All the Pain of Promises and everyone processing their mother’s bettyal. On top of that Kjeld is still angry about becoming a far, and Caelian is dealing with his anger and her loss of magic. This of course calls for some forced proximity as they travel together back to Kjeld’s homeland to learn about the new Queen. In my opinion, ATWOW is a lower stakes and more cozy book compared to the others in this series so far. It deals more with character/relationship development and information gathering rather fighting evil or anything physical like that. However, that doesn’t mean there is none, and there is still a sense of danger even with the less physical aspects. This book does a great job continuing and setting up for the overarching plot to really start kicking in the second half of the series. On top of that, we do get a great romance with wonderful amount of angst and pining from both Kjeld and Caelian. They were so infuriatingly adorable in their inability to figure things out and they failed miserably at staying away from their attraction (thank you forced proximity!). I really liked that Caelian was so forthright about how she felt. She didn’t even try to hide it when she spoke to Kjeld. Some of that was the nature of where they were, but I think she was also just refreshingly open and blunt. Plus she stood up for herself even when it hurt. My only “complaint” is that I can’t start the next book yet, especially after the epilogue….but can you really consider that a bad thing when a book leaves you wanting more? 😛 All in all, a great addition to the Starstorm series!
Thank you for this arc opportunity! My thoughts are my own 🫶🏻
