She’s done living on everyone else’s schedule. He’s the one man who makes her want to stop watching the clock.
After six years of giving her all to a career that overlooked her, Alena Morales walks away without a plan. What she doesn’t expect to find is a broody chef with quiet intensity and eyes that see more of her than she’s ready to admit.
Anthony Garcia doesn’t do distractions—not in his kitchen, not in his life. But when Lena stumbles into Temptation, she unsettles the order he’s built. She’s fiery where he’s steady, stubborn where he’s patient. And suddenly, keeping his guard up feels impossible. She challenges everything he’s ever been told about who he is as a person.
Together, they’ll learn that timing isn’t always perfect… but love might be worth the risk.
As an ARC reader, I was beyond excited to dive into Off the Clock by Rochelle Duncan — and it truly was the perfect way to end the Haven series! For us planner people, Lena’s character hit so close to home. Her journey reminded me that no matter how much we try to organize and plan every detail, life and love rarely unfold the way we expect — and that’s okay. Love is beautifully messy, unhurried, and moves at its own pace. Rochelle captured that truth so authentically through Lena’s story that it felt like she was writing my own future love story.
This book was heartfelt, real, and the perfect emotional closure to a series I’ll forever hold dear. Congratulations, Rochelle, on crafting such a wonderful finale — I can’t wait to see what stories you bring to life next! 💕📚
Off the Clock is the sweet story of Lena a self confessed control freak and Anthony the hot, brooding chef. This book is super sweet and such a great story of love, acceptance and being enough. I love how the characters have flaws that they’re aware of and how they work on those flaws and form a beautiful relationship. Such a great book, highly recommend.
This book is for the romance lovers, the tried and true romantics at heart, those of us that wish that epilogue was turned into a book so we could bask in that romantic glow a little longer.
Lena has been down on her luck lately, with life not quite where she envisioned it would be. And what happens in romance land when you're having a hard time? In walks handsome chef Anthony, who just so happens to be the right amount of broody, cocky, oh so sweet and her neighbor!
This book takes us on their journey of love from their rocky start to their blossoming love and all the trials and joys of everyday love that in this light makes you realise how wondrous they truly are.
The book started off a bit slow for my liking, but it did pick up pace towards the middle, and there's a certain part there that made me tear up. I did find the chronology a bit hard to follow in the beginning, but it did even out towards the middle.
Off the Clock is a part of a series but it reads fine as a standalone. The side characters were hilarious, and I do find myself curious about their stories.
All in all, Rochelle is definitely an author to keep your eye on if you love a good contemporary romance, hey this was my first contemporary romance of the year.
I really enjoyed this story! One of my favorite parts was the dynamic between Lena, Khadijah, and Lexi—their friendship felt warm and supportive, adding so much heart to the book.
The romance between Lena and Anthony is a sweet, slow burn that builds naturally as they move from cautious strangers to friends, and finally to something more. Their hesitation and gradual courage made their connection feel real and earned. I loved watching their friendship blossom before it grew into romance.
Beyond the romance, the book also had tender, loving moments with family-who-are-friends, along with their mates and kids. Those scenes gave the story extra warmth and a sense of community that made it stand out.
It’s a thoughtful, charming read that balances friendship, self-discovery, family, and love beautifully. A solid addition to The Haven Series!
I’m not a poetic type of person, but their love love felt poetic. It felt imperfectly perfect. When I tell people I love romance, this is what I’m thinking about. I loved everything about their story. This is a love girls envision in childhood., that came to life in the pages of their story. This is what unconditional love is all about and I love how they both added something intangible to each other lives. Their village was beautiful and their friendships continued to flourish as life progressed and changes came into their lives. I love it. #goals
