The Pumpkin Pie Man brings more than baked goods to the small town of Whispering Woods and those who partake of his delicious pies will get more than they bargained for when he comes up to their door and starts knocking.
Although this story was short, it was creepy. Think thanksgiving, pumpkin pie, and a man lingering around a small town in a white van. I am crossing my fingers that this is just the start to a longer story- it was that good!!
this would truly benefit from a little more atmospheric tension but i really loved that it was short sweet and to the point. def woulda liked if there was more description on how the first family was found
The Pumpkin Pie Man by Jason A Jones Looking for a solid old fashioned, creepy yarn with some hellishly unsettling moments? Then look no further because this guy has got you! What a sliver of delicious horror this Thanksgiving serving was.
This guy is so dang talented and his stories are always thoroughly entertaining! Let’s not forget his poetry is phenomenal! Does his creativity know no bounds?!
I enjoyed Jason's short story about a lurking evil in an old-fashioned, small town with white picket fences and children riding their bikes around outside. Pre-video game days, Pre-cellphone days. When the door-to-door salesman was a reputable career path....
Pumpkin Pies and one hell of a Thanksgiving dinner!
I loved this little story. A very dark twisted story that teaches kids to not talk to strangers and give out their info.
I find it so funny Roy’s mother wanted a better life for him and safe from danger, but his parents obviously never taught him the dangers of speaking to strangers.
In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, children frolick about their safe, comfortable neighborhood as they relish the school-free holiday. Then a creepy fella driving a pastry van comes along, trying to sell his wares.
To say more would spoil the fun of this nasty short story, so you'll have to find out the rest yourself. A fast, enjoyable horror read!
A short story filled with all the sweet suspense and terror horror fans will enjoy! Jones descriptive writing keeps us on edge and he does a great job building the intensity as we flip the pages. I am looking forward to reading more of his work! Highly recommend!
An excellent Thanksgiving creep fest! This story went places I was not expecting in such a short amount of time with several moments toward the end that genuinely spooked me. Loved the descriptions of The Pumpkin Pie Man himself--a character I soon won't forget! A short story horror fans will love.
Jason A Jones proves that you don’t need an excessive amount of pages to tell a compelling story. The Pumpkin Pie Man is a measly 20 pages but in that incredibly short amount of time, Jones manages to craft a truly creepy short horror story that takes the joy of Thanksgiving and make it a totally horrible holiday experience.
The Pumpkin Pie Man evokes the best parts of a Stephen King or Robert McCammon short story but still feels totally original.
My only complaint with this one is that even though it’s a great example of a short story done perfectly, it’s still too short. I wanted more backstory and more exploration. Obviously having readers want more is a good thing so I can’t wait to see what Jones can do when he gets into a full length novel. If it’s anything like this, it’s gonna be great!
I really enjoyed this! It was a quick read. I definitely couldn’t stop I had to finish the story to know what happened. Written amazingly. Easy to read.
In this anthology, consisting of 19 stories, you get what Jason is a master at: horror! The stories are bloody, gory, creepy, terrifying, nightmare-inducing and just insanely good!
🦄🌳 Ooh la la 🖊✌️ What an absolute doozy of a read!
Now I know Jason A Jones was talented and creative, I just didn't realise how much! Well Done 👏 👏👏
Pumpkin pie man is a short novel that packs quite a bite (definitely with every pun intended)
It is Thanksgiving in Whispering Woods, and families are getting ready to feast on lots of good food and home baked pies, celebrating all they are thankful for.
Enter the pumpkin pie man, who comes to town bearing more than just his baked pumpkin pies, to anyone who answers the door when he comes a-knocking 🎃🔪
At just 20 pages, this short novel packs a punch in such a short period of time. It's what every horror genre person enjoys - suspense, horror, and the thrill of the kill.
It's one of the easiest stories to read ever, and if you didn't think the motto 'Don't talk to strangers' doesn't apply, think again, once you start talking to the pumpkin man, you wish you never opened your mouth!
Well done on your book, Jase, and i look forward to reading more of your work in the future 👏
Well that was a fantastic creepy read! Thanksgiving or not, this story will give you the creeps and have you second guessing being nice to people around the holidays.
A couple of days before Thanksgiving in the quiet town of Whispering Woods, The Pumpkin Pie Man brings more than just pie.
A super short story with just the right amount of horror. We get the perfect suspense build right up until the end. Anything kid related is creepy to me so this was a perfect read! Jason gives us some great writing (especially the little sing-song tune) and a vivid story from beginning to end. Not too gory but just gory enough. I look forward to more of what he can write!
“Within my house is the sickening sweet smell of nutmeg and spice. Upon a grave you’ll dance as soon as you’ve eaten a slice. Scream and run as fast as you can. There is no escaping the Pumpkin Pie Man. Take another and eat your fill. It’s wormy and cold, and your blood will spill.”
This book of short stories exceeded my expectations!! The stories were sooo good, creepy, gross, some even splatterpunk like. Each story got more and more addicting the more I continue reading😂 I loved the different variety of each story, none feeling too similar. The pace in each story was good too because nothing felt rushed. It was a fun time and good collection of short stories!
So it’s not often I’d buy a solo short story(and the last had names like Joe Hill, Grady Hendrix and such attached to them!), but I know Jason’s writing is absolutely wonderful and the premise was super creepy. I have zero regrets.
I can’t even talk about the story, as for a small page count I’d just be giving away the plot, but the writing here is fantastic and I felt completely pulled into the story. I could visualise every moment perfectly and the pacing worked really well. For a short story it managed to get a lot in and not feel rushed at all.
This short story speaks to the whimsy of a bygone era while interlacing it with a creeping dread that explodes like a busted can of whipped cream: messy, yet oh-so-sweet.
The kids see him first like in so many nostalgic horror titles. By the time the adults even realize this pumpkin pie man exists it's way too late. I don't want to say much, to give away spoilers, but grab it on Amazon and see what you think. Jones is a growing voice in indie horror and you do not want to miss out on his progression!
A great spooky story! The beginning of the story has classic Goosebumps vibes. But just when you get cozy, the ending packs a punch at will scare you away from pies for a while. Would make a great spooky season read. Loved it!
A Fantastic short story Horror. Well written, dark and creepy. Only twenty pages long, this is a gripping, chilling page turner. First time reading this talented Author, and I look forward to reading more. Highly Recommend.
The Pumpkin Pie Man--what a treat! Kids on bikes, old school feels. As a fan of Jones' work let me just tell you, he knows how to weave a tale and paint a picture. This could expand into a larger work for sure! What will happen next Thanksgiving? Only Jason A. Jones knows.
3.5⭐️ I put off reading this story for a long time for the sheer fact it's about Thanksgiving, which we don't celebrate in Australia. Overall, I found this story fun, creepy, and creative. I'll definitely be reading more from Jason A. Jones.
I'm never eating pumpkin pie again. Seriously, fuck that creepy guy. I hope this Pumpkin Pie Man gets his ass cemented into the bottom of a well. Chew on that, you freaky fucker.
What a perfect, creepy story for spooky season! I can't say much considering it's only 20 pages, but I can say it's worth a read if you want a quick, creepy story. This would be great to read around Thanksgiving as well since that is the setting.
