16 years ago, 12 year old Lucy Jameson disappeared without a trace on her way to school. Nobody knows where she went, who took her, or why she was taken. After a year of scouring the country, the authorities’ resources begin to strain, cutting short the search. But her family never stopped looking, despite their limited means and no sign of Lucy. Until one day. The men who find Lucy vow to help her heal, recover, and promise that she will never be lost again. The only problem is that Lucy is far more valuable to the wolves in the shadows than anyone realises. Can Lucy’s rescuers really keep her safe from secrets that not even she knows? Sometimes it can be safer to remain in the pitch black of night where no one can see you. However, with three underestimated protectors, the wolves may have bitten off more than they can chew.

I’m a socially awkward, unhinged, grumpy book dragon recluse with a penchant for violence, smut, magic, myth, the deranged, the depraved, and all things dark and dangerous.

My books are just as dark, depraved, and unhinged as I am, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. Just please remember to read the TW, your mental health matters, and your morals will be called into question.

You will also find more than enough detailed spice to whet your whistles and get your body temperatures rising because who doesn’t love some pleasure with their pain?

I have had the pleasure to be an ARC reader for this book and all I can say is I am not ok I need more

My emotions have been all over the place, I have been happy, laughing, ugly crying, smirking and mad but what can I say I love this about a book when it can turn my world upside down and make a complete mess
I get so involved in the characters

Before you read this please please read your trigger this is a Pitch black book and it’s graphic and some parts came close with me and I have no triggers

So we start off with the three MMC Jack, Wesley and Ryan who are going into a house that was left to Ryan by his Aunt, when they stumble into the back garden and see a bomb shelter of sorts and they break in and find Lucy the MFC she has been missing since she was 12 she was kidnapped and held in this bunker and tortured, raped and abused beyond belief

Through this book you follow her journey through recovery with the guys and her family where she explains what has happened to her

There are twists and turns which had me screaming at the book WHY

I’m not going to lie it’s horrific what happens to Lucy but push through and you get an amazing book I couldn’t put this down and you will want revenge for Lucy

If you like your books dark/pitch black this is for you
The Spice is spicing 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

A haunting, healing masterpiece I never saw coming
“Every person deals with their trauma differently, theres no wrong way to heal.”

I’m usually a fluffy-romance girl through and through, the kind who lives for pink-covered novels and cinnamon-roll heroes. But every once in a while, I wander outside my soft, safe bubble to discover something new. And this time… what I discovered cracked me open in the most unexpected and beautiful way.

Please, don’t brush this book aside just because it's a debut. By the 25% mark, I found myself whispering, “Is this really her first book? Truly?”
It reads like the work of someone who has lived a hundred literary lives.

This is a dark romance,a why-choose romance, and I cannot stress this enough: read the trigger warnings. Your mental health matters, and this book walks the knife-edge between agony and healing.

Because this is not just a story.
It’s a descent into the underbelly of human cruelty, into the pits where monsters wear human skin and daylight isn’t always salvation. Lucy’s journey is gutting,an exploration of trauma, loss, and the quiet forms of survival we don’t talk about. Poor Lucy… a girl carved hollow, a soul turned into a voided doll by years in the hands of evil. She didn’t fall into darkness, she sought it, because sometimes the shadows are kinder than the monsters standing in the light.

And yet, as the story unwinds, we find that even the most broken heart still remembers how to beat when surrounded by love.

Enter the three Adonises—Ryan, Jack, and Wesley.
Her moon, Atlas and He-man. Her storm, her shelter, her resurrection.

Their connection felt like a balm poured gently over an open wound. I could feel the love threaded between the lines, soft, glowing, inevitable. They were drawn together like a siren call echoing across a black sea. So beautifully written that I, a person who almost never cries while reading, had tears in the corners of my eyes. That’s rare for me. Precious, even.

The way these men hold Lucy, not just her body, but her heart, her rage, her fractures,is something sacred. You can feel that they worship their queen in every gesture, every word, every breath they spend on her healing.
It’s love beyond logic or reason.
Love that rebuilds.
Love that restores.

Lucy made me pause more than once, wondering how a woman shattered so completely could burn so fiercely. Her feminine rage? Stunning. Powerful. Vindicating. Justice is indeed served… but that’s all I’ll say. The rest is yours to discover.

I never understood the appeal of dark romance before this. It’s a genre that requires balance,a tightrope between trauma, emotion, psychology, and plot. A single misstep, and it falls apart.

But this book showed me why people crave stories like this.
Sometimes, we need to witness a woman reclaiming every stolen piece of herself.
Sometimes, we need to see power return to the hands it was torn from.
Sometimes, healing isn’t soft—it’s furious, wild, divine.

Even if we haven’t lived Lucy’s horrors, we recognize her. Many of us know, in quieter ways, what it feels like to be treated like a broken toy in the hands of men who never deserved us. The world isn’t always kind to women, but stories like this remind us that strength lives in our bones, and good men do exist. Not just in books. In reality, too. And I hope you find your own Adonis or Adonises.

And the nicknames? Perfection.
A poetic capturing of their essence and souls.

This book left me bruised in the best way, breathless, aching, hopeful. And if you pick it up, I hope it leaves you feeling a little more whole, a little more peaceful, and beautifully understood.

“I see an ocean of calm and peace. My heart and my mind are drawn to yours just as sure as a sailor is drawn to the stars at night. You are the brightest star in my darkest night, guiding me home.”

You’ll need to strap yourself in for this rollercoaster ride of emotions in this story, it makes you feel every kind from sadness, happiness, anger, excitement!🖤

So this story starts with FMC Lucy who gets kidnapped at a young age and is gone missing presumed ☠️ for sixteen years, that was until she was found by our 3 MMCs. The authorities gave up after a year and her family never stopped looking within their means. Throughout the story you learn how strong and resilient Lucy is in past and present and you want to keep reading as you feel like you’re in the fight with her. Lucy becomes very valuable to everyone that meets her and even in those of the wrong eyes, which will be her curse. Can our MMCs save Lucy in the long run?👀

The story starts face paced and at the start alternates between the past memories and then back to present, and is so emotional and sometimes hard to read but M.S Kelly brought such a lovely way of showing so much love and strength into the story and characters which balances out the good and bad that happens.🖤

Our MMCs:
- Ryan - the serious, level headed and protective one
- Wes - also protective, the middle ground guy and attentive one
- Jack - the playful one but also hot headed, golden retriever with a dark side

To be honest, all the MMCs give golden retriever vibes, but don’t let this fool you because when you make an enemy of them they are ruthless and loose cannons if they need to be! They love Lucy so fiercely and will do anything to protect her. Her Adonises. By chapter 3 I was already obsessed with these men, I am a sucker for a cheeky chap so Jack definitely had me with his humour and banter, but don’t ask me to choose out of the 3 and it’s a why choose so I don’t need to🤪

The storyline is dark but amazing, you feel like you’re on the journey and the scenes are set vividly. There are also parts that will get you hot and bothered😉 there is a wait for it for good reason, but trust me when I say it is worth the wait🔥 HOT!! Some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a long time🥵

As it’s in the title, this is a very pitch dark story, so it is really important that you check the TWs and make sure you are comfortable with knowing what’s to come, if you are new into dark romance.

“The darkness was my comfort. My solace. My sanctuary. It let me breathe and allowed me to rest when I was finally alone.”

@M.S. Kelly Books Thank you so much for choosing me to be an ARC, you took me on one hell of a journey with this one, and I loved it! I can’t wait for more of what’s to come in this universe hopefully if any, fingers crossed🖤

This was an arc read that I was very lucky to be provided for a honest review of the book.

Firstly, I enjoyed this book immensely but it is extremely dark and if you have any triggers at all, I would strongly recommend you check the content warnings. This book is harrowing in many places and it could cause distress to readers who are triggered by certain topics. I don't have triggers but this is definitely something I was glad were included in detail for those who do.

In terms of the writing, this story is very well written. The author shows a deep understanding of how to utilise flashbacks with present tense. The writing is descriptive and allows you to put yourself in all the characters shoes and feel things that the people would be feeling. I would say that some of the dialogue is probably a bit too much but also on the flip side it works. The pace and flow of the book is good. The one criticism that jumps out at me is the fact that it takes a while to work out whose POV it is when it is one of the MMCs as the chapters are not titled or the names are not shown on page just on the chapter list.

In terms of this story, this is a harrowing story about an abducted girl Lucy that is found after 16 years and is about her connection with her rescuers and rebuilding her life. You instantly meet Ryan, Wesley and Jack who are in an established poly relationship and who, once they rescue Lucy, develop a bond with her to surpass anything else. The boys have to keep their relationship under wraps due to family pressure, work and even the fact that they do jobs for the Italian mafia.

The story progresses with some twists and turns and generally just highlights the building relationship between the boys and Lucy. The boys put a lot on the line to protect Lucy and that is all they want to do.

Within the story you have some mild BDSM elements between the boys not explored in depth and you have Lucy gaining her sexual confidence and building trust to be touched in that way.

I wish the ending was a bit longer but I think that's just cos of the build up we got that I would have loved to have seen more of their relationship at the end.

Ultimately, I enjoyed this book immensely and would recommend it to dark romance readers. Even the couple of negative comments do not distract this from being a 5* read for me.

🖤 PITCH ARC Review 🖤
Ever pick up a book thinking I’ve got no limits… and then the story looks you dead in the eyes and says, “Oh really?”
Yeah. This one did that.
⚠️ CHECK. THE. TRIGGER. WARNINGS.
This story dives into the dark—like no-flashlight, no-map, hope-you-brought-snacks dark.
I usually go in blind, but wow… this one pushed one particular boundary I didn’t know I had!!
✨ PROMISES IN DARKNESS (Book 1) by M.S. Kelly
Sixteen years ago, 12-year-old Lucy vanished on her way to school. No clues. No answers. Just a family that refused to stop searching.
And then—one day—she’s found.
But survival isn’t the end of Lucy’s story. Because the shadows still want her. And the men who rescue her? They’re determined to help her heal… even if they have no idea how dangerous the secrets stalking her truly are.
Three protectors. One girl who deserves a future.
Wolves lurking in the dark.
And a fight for safety, identity, and a life she was never allowed to live.
“Sometimes staying in the dark feels safer… until someone finally shows you what light looks like.”
I’m honestly glad I pushed through, because every single character in this book earned their HEA.
It’s brutal. It’s tender. It’s beautifully written.
But it is NOT for the faint of heart.
If you’re brave enough… step into the dark. 🖤📖

ARC READER REVIEW!

mfmm/dark/ mile long trigger warnings but oh ma gawd so worth it.
PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING THE BOOK
If you are like me and not sensitive then go right on ahead and step into the pages of this enticing spicy book;)

I LOVED this book! The absolute roller coaster it put me through was immense!

When I first started, I didn’t really like the FMC’s reactions or how she coped… but I kept reading and holy moly, this book is everything and more.

The emotional depth of this book is so well written and researched. It shines an entirely different light on what healing can look like for some survivors of abuse.

This book genuinely made me laugh, cry, and get angry. The emotions it pulled out of me were just short of insanity. The author writes so well that she makes the reader forget all about reality.

While I was reading, I was so lost in the story that I couldn’t let it go—not even for a second. The plot twists! The spice! The emotional weight! Every word just leaps off the page and drags you into an adventure.

The spice was a 5 out of 5 stars. And oh my god, the positions and the attention to detail in everything! I was hoping for a very specific spicy scene, and the author delivered—with extra spice!

Before reading:
Check the trigger warnings ⚠️

The story was amazing. I think it's admirably brave how the writer describe potentially triggering events with amazing accuracy without overdoing it. Usually, the problem is either neglecting the triggering scenes or overemphasizing them. The pace of the story is perfect, not too slow or too fast. The book is readable and engaging. The book had many emotional parts, but they were all skillfully written.

The story flows nicely from the beginning in different time levels. The POV of several people is also skillfully implemented, and it opens up the personalities and thoughts of the characters. The characters are interesting and they grow along with the plot. Although the MMCs were partly very traditional dark romance characters (protective, obsessive and possessive), they were not one-sided or boring.

And what about the consent spice! It was spicyyyy!🌶🌶🌶
I loved that there is the reverse harem/why choose trophy and especially that the guys have relationship with each other🩷

I can't wait the next book🖤

I will say it over and over again when a book captivates its readers into the story its a huge chefs kiss from me. I was feeling all the emotions humanly possible with Pitch.

I highly recommend reading the triggers not skimming them. This is pitch black and not to be taken lightly.

12 year old Lucy is kidnapped on her way to school without a trace. Pitch goes through this awful experience but also the present 16 years later. 3 MMC Ryan, Wesley and Jack find Lucy after Ryan's aunt passes away and leaves her home for him. They find her in a bunker in the garden still in the uniform she was kidnapped in 16 years prior. We then follow Lucy's journey to dealing with what had happened and how the MMC's help her with this. But can they when there are still shadows that want her...

The twists and turns were truly twisting and had me wanting to throw my kindle at anyone who looked at me 🤣

M.S. Kelly handles trauma and healing with impressive sensitivity, delivering a dark, emotional story that hits hard. The book had me feeling everything.

Lucy is kidnapped on her way to school and disappears without a trace. Sixteen years later, Ryan, Wesley, and Jack find her after Ryan inherits his aunt’s home. What follows is Lucy’s raw journey through survival, recovery, and the buried horrors that still stalk her.

The shadows want her back—but the men who rescued her are determined to protect her, even if they don’t fully understand how dangerous those secrets are.

A gripping, intense dark romance that stays with you long after the last page

This book is dark, verging on pitch black. PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER EARNINGS BEFORE STARTING.

This story follows the 3 main male characters, Wesley, Jack & Ryan. Ryan is left a house by his aunt when she died. Whilst the 3 boys are looking around they come across a bunker/outbuilding at very back of the garden. After closer inspection they stumble across a female who is in the bunker.

Lucy (MFC) went missing when she was 12 years old. She had been held in this bunker for 16 years and subjected to horrific torture, repeatedly raped and abused by multiple people.

This flows her journey of being found, her telling what happened and the investigation into catching the men that did this. It also highlights the relationship she forms with the 3 boys, connecting back with her daily.

There are a few twists in this book that make you want to scream why and keep you captivated.

This is very explicit and descriptive, I don’t have any triggers but there is one scene near the end that did make me cringe.

Please, please, please read the trigger warnings before starting this book, especially if you are new to dark romance!

As you can probably tell from the title, Pitch is a pitch-dark, why-choose romance and is probably one of the darkest books I have ever read. The story is full of possessive and supportive golden retriever MMCs that, with the help of Lucy’s family, help her reacclimatize to the world, which helps offset all the dark concepts. Naturally, with this being a romance, we are invested in the HEA for the FMC, but after reading the past memories of what Lucy had to endure during her 16 years of captivity, you can’t help but cheer her on and feel proud of her for how much ground she covers in her recovery so quickly.

After the rollercoaster of emotions experienced with this book, and of course let’s not forgot all the spice we have the pleasure of reading, I truly can’t wait for what M.S. Kelly has in store for us in the future!

Pitch is a Pitch Black Dark Romance following the themes of kidnapping, r*pe, no-con, p*edophilia, m*scarriages and much more. The story follows a reverse harem / why choose romance.

DR Tropes:
Morally Grey Characters
MMMF
Possessive MMC’s
Why Choose
Trauma Bonding
Mafia
Touch Her and Die
Multiple POV

I really enjoyed ARC reading Pitch. The story follows the FMC who is kidnapped at age 12, and subsequently found 16 years later by the 3 MMC’s. You quickly felt the pain and trauma that the FMC must feel/endure on a daily basis. The 3 MMC’s empower and encourage her to heal, fight back and support her bid for a better life.

The book does focus heavily on the torture Lucy endures during her confinement but equally we see her take control of her pleasure and learn what she enjoys with the MMC’s.

Having sad all that I really enjoyed the book, found it engaging and paced well enough that I was never bored.

Would definitely recommend to existing pitch black dark romance readers.

first let me say, I wish there was a 4.5 star rating. I received an ARC copy of Pitch and I truly devoured it in less than 2 days.
A well told story of sex trafficking, mutilation, vengeance and vindication. Lucy was abducted and held in a bomb shelter for 16 years before being saved by 3 friends/lovers. Those men helped her heal and loved her in the purest of ways in this Why Choose. Kidnapped girl turned mafia princess really comes into her own after being reunited with her family and meeting her biological father.

Check TWs before reading!!⚠️
This was easily the darkest book I have ever read.👀 It definitely both hurt and healed my heart. The love and connections between all of the main characters is so heartwarming, passionate & unique. I also appreciated the love & care that the family members had for the main characters as well. I even loved to hate our evil villains.😌 I already cannot wait to read more about these characters in book 2 as I feel emotional connected to all of them!

Really enjoyed this book, but do read the trigger warning and take them seriously.

MS Kelly has done a wonderful job with sensitivity of the trauma and healing. I adored how 3 MMC's found the FMC and took the time they needed to heal her physically and mentally. The MM scenes were fire! And the way they talked the FMC through her first "session" was chefs kiss.

Love the FMC finding her family and her path of vengeance with her men by her side. Well done MS Kelly on your debut!

This is so dark not for the faint of heart!!!! Make sure you read triggers! This was amazing writing and it had me in all kinds of emotions. I love the support the mmcs (yes multiple men) gave the fmc. She had to endure ALOT and find herself after! Looking forward to the next book to see where they go from here.

Yes this book has triggers BUT if you are used to reading darker books… this is not as dark as whats out there. The suspense factor and the tension built up in this book however is quite well done. I am normally disappointed in these thriller/horror/suspense style books and this did not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat turning page after page.

First I will say, check your triggers. Lucy’s story absolutely heartbreaking, everything that she endured was definitely tough to read. So many emotions while reading this as well as it hits on some of my past experiences. Our MMCs are complex characters but deep down complete Labradors 🥵🥵🥵. Hard to believe this is a debut novel, absolutely brilliant

this book is multiple pov, why choose

Lucy's story is a hard one to read so please be mindful of that. The three MMC's are steamy labradors, there are so many twists and turns in this story, it had me screeming at the screen,

how is this a debut novel?

she was in a bunker for 16 years! extremely unbelievable what happens right after. if she was in there for only 1-2 I might be able to give the author a pass but come on someone who was kidnapped that long isn't going to be having wild over the top xes!

plus I thought the story was almost over and was only half way through. talk about dragging a story out. I DNF and don't feel bad about it.
