Fictionaut: Collected Short Stories

Rate this book
Seen from the top of a forgotten lighthouse, gargantuan bones whisper of apocalyptic battles. On war-torn mud flats, soldiers square off against predators older than myth. Across ruined skylines, titanic mechs clash with alien invaders in steel-shattering duels, while a creature of the dark stalks a nineteenth century Scottish Halloween night that will never end.

This gripping short story collection catapults you through ten pulse-pounding adventures that blur the lines between science-fiction, horror, military thrillers, and dark fantasy. Each tale stands alone, but together with a selection of nonfiction micro-writings and insightful afterwords, they form a dizzying tour of humanity’s greatest hopes and deepest fears.

Heroes battle across decades and continents, from WWII Siberia to a mech-ravaged future, from anti-cyclone sandstorms to desolate martial monasteries. Every story pushes its characters—and readers—past the edge of imagination, where survival demands sacrifice and courage is forged in fire and blood.

International bestselling author Kane Gilmour’s Fictionaut collection is a one-way ticket to the outer limits of adventure—perfect for readers who crave colossal monsters, crackling gunfire, and the thrill of confronting the impossible. Buckle up…these stories at the edge of reality are waiting.

HERE WE GO! FIGHT!

This compilation is so much fun! Several of the stories had me on the edge of my seat, including my favorite, HERE WE GO! FIGHT! Gilmour is a master of description and you can't help but be drawn into the plot. I was literally yelling out loud with the action. There are also well-placed moments of laugh-out-loud humor. I loved the variety of plots and characters, including Samurai, soldiers, aliens, vampires, and kaiju. There's something for everyone in this amazing compilation from Gilmour's imagination, and I look forward to reading more of his work!
