This has been the perfect devotional leading up to Christmas. Each day resonated with me deeply. Thank you, Cindy. I hope others find this book has helped them as well.
Season of Anticipating is a lovely Advent devotional with a daily verse, reflection, prayer, and sometimes a poem. It starts on December 1st and continues through December 25th.
I have read McDonald’s mysteries (which are great, by the way), but I didn’t know she was a poet, too. Her poems will warm your heart. The devotions are sensitive, vulnerable, and relatable. Topics include things like being really busy, Alzheimer’s, and car trouble … you know, relatable stuff! I’ve come away feeling the joyful anticipation of our celebration of Christ’s birth and also anticipation of His return.
Highly recommended!
p.s. Kudos to the cover designer. It’s a beautiful cover.
I thoroughly enjoyed C.S. McDonald's book Season of Anticipating. I love the Christmas season, but I often get distracted by all the flurry and business it brings. I neglect to take the time to reflect on what is most important - Jesus. The Season of Anticipating was that moment of fresh air when I sat quietly in reflection, reading McDonald's extraordinary insights and Bible verses shared within the pages. It reminded me of where my hope lies, and helped me to step aside from all the distractions for a time. A wonderful book that I highly recommend.
