This novel has it all, glamour, beautiful locations, politics and missing people and add to that a death and you have the best possible reading material for you this summer.

Tash is a mom hoping to give her son the party he deserves for his birthday, even thought that means being with her ex husband and his new girlfriend on the island where her baby sister went missing a year ago. Sound like a lot doesn’t it? But there’s so much more to come. Boston and snowstorms add perfectly to this hot summer thriller.

I enjoyed this book so much and I hope to read more of this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

★★★½

I do love a destination thriller, and the prospect of a mystery set against the backdrop of the Greek Islands was what initially drew me to this book. I found myself thinking about how paradise always seems to hold its own dark secrets before the story even began.

The plot follows Tash and Mark, who host a birthday weekend for their son Dom at their luxury villa in July 2025. The celebration takes a dark turn when Tash’s sister Emma drowns and vanishes without a trace. While everyone else treats it as a tragic accident, Tash suspects foul play. Flash forward to July 2026, and she has invited the exact same guest list back to the island, determined to get answers because she knows everyone is hiding something.

This was the first time I have read anything by Rachel Wolf, and I did feel that while the isolated, locked-room aspect of the island worked well, the story itself felt quite generic. It is a simple thriller that you could easily read on the beach, but there was not much to make it stand out against others in this subgenre. I kept thinking that it was a classic case of judging a book by its cover, as the cover design is incredibly impressive, but the narrative inside did not quite match that impact. I found that the book felt choppy and all over the place because there was simply too much going on at once.

The pacing felt quite uneven to me; it was slow when it should have been building tension, and then the final section tried to compensate by introducing a rush of events all at once. I think the manuscript was probably about 50 pages too long, and my main critique lies in the editing and structure, as the story drifts without a clear sense of direction. Much of the middle narrative is just people behaving badly with very little meaningful progress, which made me want to skip ahead during a few of the chapters. I would have preferred a tighter cast and fewer perspectives to really let the tension shine, especially since I found it hard to connect with any of the characters. The twist also felt fairly predictable, which meant the ending lost its punch because I had already worked it out.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.

Her Perfect Escape is one of those sun‑drenched thrillers where the heat feels almost physical, the kind that settles on your skin while something darker coils quietly underneath. From the opening pages, there’s this delicious tension between paradise and danger — a luxury Greek villa, a birthday celebration, a glittering sea that hides more than it reveals.

The story moves between two Julys, a year apart, and that structure gives the whole book a slow, simmering unease. In 2025, Tash’s sister vanishes into the water during what should have been an effortless family weekend. Everyone calls it a tragic accident. Everyone except Tash. By the time we return to the island in 2026, she’s sharper, more brittle, and absolutely determined to peel back the layers of what really happened — even if it means locking the same guests together again and watching the cracks widen.

What I loved is how the author leans into the claustrophobia of a beautiful place turned sour. The villa becomes its own character: glamorous in daylight, unsettling at night, full of corners where secrets might be tucked away. Each guest carries their own shadow, and the slow reveal of their motives keeps the tension humming. Even Dom, Tash’s son, feels changed by that night — a quiet reminder that grief doesn’t just haunt adults.
The pacing is wonderfully controlled: not rushed, not overwrought, just steadily tightening until the truth finally surfaces. And when it does, it lands with the kind of emotional weight that makes you rethink every earlier conversation, every sideways glance.

It’s an atmospheric, compulsive read — perfect for anyone who loves their thrillers with sun, salt, and a creeping sense that paradise is only ever perfect from a distance.

Thanks to NetGalley and Aria & Aries for the eARC. Out 7 May 2026.

I absolutely flew through this - such a perfect holiday read… though perhaps not one to pack for a Greek island getaway 😉🫣

Set against the shimmering backdrop of a luxury villa, Her Perfect Escape delivers that irresistible blend of sun-soaked glamour and creeping unease. From the outset, there’s a delicious tension between paradise and something far darker lurking beneath the surface.

The dual timeline - two Julys, a year apart - works beautifully, creating a slow, simmering sense of dread. The year before, Tash’s sister vanishes during what should have been a carefree celebration. This year, Tash returns - harder, sharper, and determined to uncover the truth, even if it means recreating the very weekend that shattered everything.

What elevates this beyond a standard destination thriller is its glimpse into the world of the ultra-wealthy - presidential hopefuls, tech billionaires, trust fund heirs. When power and money can buy silence, uncovering the truth becomes something far more dangerous.

The villa itself becomes almost a character: dazzling by day, claustrophobic by night, full of secrets tucked into its corners. The cast is equally compelling - everyone has something to hide, and watching those layers peel back is deeply satisfying. The emotional undercurrent, particularly through Dom and Theo, adds a subtle but poignant depth.

The pacing is spot on - steady, controlled, and quietly tightening until the final reveal lands with real emotional weight. It’s the kind of ending that makes you rethink every earlier moment.

Atmospheric, twisty, and effortlessly readable, this is a glossy destination thriller with real bite. Perfect for fans of sun-drenched suspense with a sharp emotional edge.

Her Perfect Escape by Rachel Wolf is a thriller that blends family dynamics, luxury living, and a touch of political drama. It’s a quick read overall, but I personally didn’t find my footing in the story until around the ninth chapter. The early pacing felt chaotic, with multiple threads happening all at once, which made it hard for me to settle into the plot. Still, once the story found its rhythm, the last few chapters were much more engaging and easier to enjoy.

One thing I appreciated was how the book explored motherhood—not just in the traditional sense, but in the way a parent’s role evolves no matter how old their child becomes. That emotional thread grounded the story amid all the drama and high-stakes moments. The twist at the end, while not predictable, didn’t fully land for me. I was hoping for that jaw-dropping, heart-racing moment that thrillers usually deliver, but the reveal felt disconnected from the buildup.

What I Enjoyed:
• Alternating narrative
• Luxury living portrayal
• Family drama gone wild

What Felt Off:
• Twist that didn’t make sense
• Villain with no remorse
• Gold-digging portrayal

Ratings Breakdown:
• Setting: 4⭐️
• Characters: 3⭐️
• Writing: 3⭐️
• Message: 3⭐️
• Overall: 3⭐️

To sum it up, Her Perfect Escape is a decent addition to your TBR if you enjoy domestic thrillers with messy families, lavish settings, and a cast of interesting characters. It’s fun, fast-paced, and has a few surprises along the way. While it didn’t fully work for me, I can see it being a hit for thriller girlies who love drama, secrets, and a bit of chaos in their reads.

Glamour, complicated family dynamics, secrets and a yearning for connection all come together in this fabulously fast paced thriller. I really loved this book and raced through it.

Tash is holding a 21st birthday party for her son, Dominic, at her luxury villa in Greece. Everyone is coming, almost everyone who was there to celebrate the year before when Tash’s younger sister, Emma, went missing. Tash doesn’t believe Emma died, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, and she is determined to use this weekend to figure out what really happened one year ago.

Tash split up with her husband after Emma’s disapearance, and she’s not sure why she agreed to let him bring his surprisingly young new girlfriend. Dominic’s friend Theo is acting wierdly and drinking far too much, but can they blame him after the unexpected death of his mother last year? As secrets begin to surface and tenstions rise between guests, the weekend takes on a life of its own.

Her Perfect Escape is full of exciting twists, turns and fabulous characters. With multiple points of view, the story felt so close, personal and authentic, the many fears, suspicians and desires overlapping to create a tangle of complicated emotions and survival instincts. Set in a luxury villa with yachts, a private beach, lots of champagne and a US Senator, it brings plenty of glamour and sunshine in amongst the angst and darkness.

This is a perfect and absorbing holiday read that will whisk you away to another world. Perfect for fans of destination thrillers full of twists.

This novel blends opulence, tension and fractured relationships into a sharply paced story that kept me fully engaged from start to finish. At the centre is Tash, preparing a milestone celebration for her son at her Greek island villa, an event that reunites the same group who gathered the previous year when her sister vanished. Among the attendees are Richard and Nancy Davies, a high profile political couple who are acutely aware of how every move reflects on their public reputation. As the evening unfolds, tragedy strikes when Tash’s sister loses her life in a drowning. Months later, Nancy also dies under similarly troubling circumstances. What initially appears to be another unfortunate mishap soon hints at a disturbing pattern, those connected to the Davies family seem to meet with danger far too often.

Despite the official conclusion, Tash refuses to accept that her sister is gone, and she intends to use this gathering to uncover the truth. Set against a backdrop of wealth, politics and simmering family tensions, the story blends luxury and unease in equal measure. As old wounds resurface and hidden motives come to light, the narrative builds steadily toward a dramatic and satisfying reveal. It’s a sharp, atmospheric thriller that balances emotional complexity with page turning suspense. A fun read, highly recommended.

I’ll start out by saying I read Five Nights by the same author and enjoyed that read.

The premise of this book is strong. A missing woman, a year-old mystery, and a return to the same villa with the people who were there at the time. It sets up what should be an active search for answers, as we are introduced to a protagonist who believes her sister is still alive.

But that potential isn’t realised. The protagonist’s plan amounts largely to observing the group rather than actively investigating, which makes the story feel passive. Much of the narrative is made up of people behaving badly, with little meaningful progress.

In short, where is all the tension?

The pacing is uneven. The story drifts without a clear sense of direction, and then the final section tries to compensate by introducing a rush of events all at once. It creates the impression of a story trying to catch up with itself.

The central reveal was particularly disappointing. After a full novel built around the mystery of a missing person, the resolution feels abrupt and unearned.

There are moments where the book is good, but the lack of strong character work and a more active investigative thread made it difficult to stay engaged. This could have been a much tighter and more compelling story if it had focused more on the search for answers, rather than waiting for them to emerge.

Review of ‘Her Perfect Escape’ by Rachel Wolf, due to be published on 7 May 2026 by Aria & Aries.

An idyllic island in Greece, a gathering of friends and family that is marred with the memory of a sister going missing, presumed drowned, one year ago.

Tash invites just about everyone back to the island to celebrate her son Dom’s 21st birthday, a guest list including her soon to be ex-husband Mark and his new girlfriend.  Things feel strange from the outset with Dom’s friend Theo drinking heavily, Tash convinced she has seen her missing sister, her other sister Megan acting cagey and Mark shocking more than one guest with his choice of new partner.  When Theo has an accident and his father, a prominent US Senator, comes to the Island secrets, lies and betrayal explode setting off a series of events that nobody sees coming.

Storylines flip from the then and now for several characters, adding depth to their backstory and allowing insight into who is party to what secrets and what part they have played. The lengths some characters have gone to in an attempt to hide their betrayals are surprising, and several times the storyline has you shift the dial on where your sympathy should lie. It’s a slow burn that builds up the tension and suspense for a final big reveal at the end.  A recommended summer read.

3.5 stars for me.

Tash is hosting a birthday party for her son. She's back at luxury Greek island villa, but not all is the same. Her younger sister disappeared from the same villa year ago,and drowning in grief she let her husband Mark go.Now he will be here also with his new girlfriend, and the few old friends that were here year ago.Tash is convinced that some may knew more then they say about the day her baby sister went missing.
Connections and friendsips will be tested, but will Tash finally get her answers?

It was a engrossing read.To the end I could not be sure who's the quilty party.Told from few POV past and present we get a picture of family and friends that keep secrets.I really get Tash, she could not move on,not knowing what happened to her sister was something that she can't just let go.Mark on the other hand was very cliche.Showing up with younger girlfriend and rubbing her in front of Tash, yet still wanted her back.I was hoping that Tash will not give him a chance, they way it ended was good for her. That being said the rest characters were interseting, but I feel like there was two mysteries in one.Started with one, plot and focus changed to another one,a lot time they would save if they could be honest with each other.Still I liked the plot, and would like to read more of author work.

Thank you to @headofzeus for sending me this book and @instabooktours for having me on tour.

Today is my stop 👇🏼

 My Thoughts:

I really enjoy a destination thriller and this one also came with the isolated, locked room (island) aspect, which I enjoyed. Plenty of questionable characters and a dual timeline to boot. This story had a bit of everything.

There was a lot going on with this story. It certainly sends you down a few rabbit holes (as any good thriller should). I always appreciate a story that goes backward and forwards in time, building a bigger picture and then brings us to a conclusion where all the questions are answered.

The characters in the story were all high profile people, with plenty of money and of course, were completely unlikeable (some more than others). So, expect rich people behaving badly … Just which ones? Who was hiding secrets and trying to keep their reputations tarnish free?

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The pace did feel a little up and down in places, but the premise was clever and engaging and (I hate to say it) I quite enjoy a story surrounding wealthy people and all their drama and scandals 🫣.

If you enjoy a thriller surrounded in luxury and privilege, I recommend you pick this one up. This would make a great holiday read.

Her Perfect Escape is the perfect sun-soaked destination thriller packed with secrets, betrayal, and suspense. Set against the backdrop of a luxury Greek villa, this story had me completely hooked from the start.

A year after Tash’s sister Emma mysteriously disappears during a birthday weekend celebration, the same guests return to the island — and it quickly becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. I loved the dual timeline structure, slowly uncovering what happened in the past while the tension built in the present. Every chapter seemed to reveal another secret, and just when I thought I had figured things out, the story twisted again.

The glamorous Greek island setting mixed perfectly with the darker atmosphere underneath, giving this such addictive “paradise hiding danger” vibes. There are a lot of characters at first, but once I settled into the story, I absolutely flew through it. The short chapters and constant suspicion kept the pages turning.

This was such an entertaining, twisty thriller and such a great holiday read. If you love destination thrillers full of wealthy families, buried secrets, messy relationships, and plenty of drama, definitely add this one to your list.

Even paradise has shadows.

July 2025. Tash and Mark host a birthday weekend for their son, Dom, at their luxury villa on a Greek island, inviting a select list of people to celebrate. As the drinks flow, the unthinkable happens when Tash’s sister drowns, vanishing without a trace.

No one suspects foul play – except for Tash.

July 2026. One year on, Tash hosts a party for the same guests who were there when Emma died. She's learned that they're all hiding something - even Dom's behaviour has changed since that night. She knows that answers lie on the island and no one is leaving until she gets the truth.

But if the villa holds the secrets to what happened, it also hides a killer...

Wow! This had me gripped.
The writing style flowed, I felt like there was always something else around the corner.
Every time I thought I had a handle on what had occurred a year ago, something popped up that changed my mind.

An absolute page turner. I didn't guess the major twist, and the book had twists and turns in every chapter.
The characters were believable, including character flaws. I cant say too much as I don't want to spoil it. But the world has stereotypes for a reason.

Summer 2025 - Tash and Mark hold a birthday party for their son, Dom, at their lavish Greek villa. Tash’s youngest sister, Emma, disappears the next morning after a swim in the sea. Everyone is sure she has drowned, but Tash is convinced she’s still alive.

Summer 2026 - The same gang arrive in Greece for Dom’s 21st, and everyone, including Dom, is acting oddly. Tash is determined to get answers about what really happened to Emma.

I really loved this - it reminded me of Louise Candlish’s Our Holiday - with the gorgeous holiday destination setting, the lavish wealth bringing with it power, corruption and a host of tangled lies, and the tight knit group of families and friends with really vivid and developed personalities.

The story was so brilliantly plotted, with a tense claustrophobic build-up of suspension. There were so many secrets and lies between the group, with no one having all the pieces of the puzzle until the end.

I had so many questions and couldn’t wait to find out what was going on. It was so gripping, fast-paced and there were some brilliant twists that caught me unawares!

I can’t wait to read more of Rachel’s books now - this is the perfect summer thriller. Addictive, pacy, twisty and absorbing!

The premise is genuinely good. A Greek island villa, a woman who vanishes into the water, a family who calls it an accident. This is exactly the kind of book I read, and everything about it should have worked for me.

But it didn’t.

Too many points of view, too many threads pulling in different directions, and not enough momentum to hold it all together. I found it hard work from the first pages and never really settled into it. The pacing is uneven; slow when it should be building, then suddenly racing to wrap things up before you’ve had time to care about the outcome.

The characters were difficult to connect with, which made the whole thing harder going. And the twist, when it finally arrived, felt disconnected from everything that came before. Like the ending belonged to a slightly different book.

The setting does its job. There’s something about a beautiful place with something dark underneath it that should pull you in. But a good location isn’t a substitute for a story that grips you, and this one never quite did.

Tash hosts a luxury party at her Greek villa and invites a select few guests. By the end of the night the unthinkable happens. Months later she hosts another party for the same guests and realises they are hiding something. She knows the answers to the first event like on the island and no one is leaving until she gets the truth.

I thought I would give this one a chance due to the synopsis, as it sounded like it would be a fun destination thriller. Although not necessarily a bad read, this did not end up a favourite of mine. I found that the story felt quite generic, like something I had read before and not offering anything new. I found the pacing slow, with a lot of characters and strands quickly introduced, which made it hard for me to get into and in the end felt flat and disjointed. Saying that, I liked the setting and think this part was done well. Even though not fully for me, this is still worth a try for those who are looking for a holiday read with some mystery and plenty of family drama. 2.5 stars rounded up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5 stars)

I would rate Her Perfect Escape by Rachel Wolf 3.5 stars.

I found the first quarter of the book quite confusing as a lot of characters and plotlines were introduced very quickly. It took me a while to figure out who everyone was and how they were connected, which made it slightly harder to get fully invested in the story at the start.

However, as the book progressed, things started to come together and the plot became much clearer. By the middle of the story I was more engaged, and I did enjoy how the narrative kept me guessing. There are multiple twists throughout, and the final quarter of the book was definitely a page-turner for me.

My main drawback was the character development. Because it took a while to get to grips with who everyone was and how they were related, I didn’t feel particularly attached to any of the characters.

Overall, an intriguing thriller with plenty of twists, especially towards the end.

The book started off promising, but after a while I found myself losing interest as not much seemed to happen. By the time I was about three-quarters of the way through, it became quite difficult to keep reading. I just wasn’t fully invested in the characters or the storyline, as it lacked excitement and momentum.

There’s also a large cast of main characters—Tash, Megan, Becki, Jaz, Emma, Nancy, Richard, Dom, Mark, and Theo—along with several side characters. With multiple points of view and shifting timelines, it sometimes felt like a lot to keep track of.

Sadly, this book just wasn’t for me. It leans heavily into a slow-burn mystery, which didn’t quite hold my attention. However, if you enjoy a leisurely-paced plot set against Greek island vibes—think sea, sand, and blue skies—you may find this one worth picking up. Stunning cover though!!!

I received a free advanced reader copy and am leaving my honest review voluntarily. My thanks to #netgalley the author and publishers Aria & Aries for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Her Perfect Escape by Rachel Wolf offers a thrilling escape to the sun-drenched Greek island of Mykonos, but darkness lurks just beneath the surface of this wealthy paradise. Told in dual timelines, it jumps between last summer and today. The story features many characters driven by jealousy, mistrust, extreme wealth, and privilege, where absolutely everyone is hiding something.
The central mystery will keep you guessing until the very end as you wonder whether Emma actually disappeared, is simply hiding, or if there was foul play and murder involved. On top of that, you will find yourself questioning what else is going on with the senator and his devoted wife, and what secrets they are trying to cover up.
While it took me until about the halfway mark to become fully invested in the story and its characters, I simply could not put the book down once I did. I needed to see how it all played out.

Yes, I recommend this book. 3.5 ⭐️

This is the second book of Rachel’s that I’ve read and she never fails to capture your attention and make you want to know where things are going.

Multi POV’s and multi timelines but I didn’t ever feel confused, for me it absolutely makes the story more well rounded and as the book went on it helped me understand what had happened in the past!

There are a lot of characters in the book but it was easy to keep track of as no one ever felt ‘samey’ or bland.

The chapters are short and some fab cliffhangers meaning you can’t put the book down!

I really enjoyed the Greek setting; fab holiday, thriller destination vibes!

I loved that there was a little shock reveal about half way through the book, like a little teaser to whet your appetite and keep you reading on for the rest of the twists!!

Another cracking read from Rachel and I’m looking forward to more of her work! If you’re after a destination thriller this summer you won’t be disappointed with this: sun, sea, and secrets!

Thank your Netgalley & Rachel Wolf for the ARC of this book.

I really am very upset because I wanted badly to enjoy this book.

Unfortunately I was truly on the struggle bus with this one.

There was so much going on and yet no plot developments, there were way too many POVs and time jumps which ultimately just made it so messy.

I didn't feel any suspense or excitement building or it leading onto literally anything the way you would want to feel when reading a thriller.

There was way too much back and forth It all started to feel like filler information because they weren't sure where the story should go.

And then when it finally got to anything interesting (more than 80% in) it all started to feel very rushed because it was a race to tie up loose ends.

It amazes me that even with so much going on the ending was still predictable.

I wish I could have liked this, but I really had to fight to stay focused and get through this one to finish.

I'd like to thank NetGalley and the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I so badly wanted to enjoy this book, but I'm sorry to say that this was a disappointment.

I can handle multiple POVs, time jumps and lots of characters in a book, in fact I love these things... when they're written well. Sadly, this book's execution was so poorly done that I was quite literally dragging myself through each page.

The book felt choppy and all over the place. There was too much going on and I felt confused throughout. Yes, thrillers and mysteries shouldn't be obvious, however they also should be written well enough to keep you wondering "what next?". I wasn't gripped here, sadly, and as I said just before, reading this was a struggle.

It is a shame that this wasn't my cup of tea, as the plot had so much potential! Perhaps I'll try another book from this author and it might go a bit better.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Last summer Tash and Megan’s sister disappeared in Greece. This year all the same people are back in Greece, to celebrate Tash’s son Dom turning 21. She fully believes her sister is still alive, can she use the summer to prove it?

This was told from the perspective of many of the main characters and jumped from the past to the current. This allowed the reader to know a bit more than the characters, but never the full story.

The author had me believing in characters and quickly mistrusting them with an ever changing and fast paced storyline. It was difficult to put down a the ending was one I genuinely had no idea was coming. I’ve finished and feel like i need a book 2 to find out the further fate of these characters! This would be a great book for a summer holiday (or at any time!)

July 2025, Tash's sister Emma disappears whilst they are on holiday at Tash and Mark's villa in Greece. Tash believes she is still alive even though the evidence points to her drowning.
Fast forward to July 2026, and Tash invites the same people back to the villa to celebrate her son Dom's 21st. Mark brings his new young girlfriend.
It doesn't take long before the drinking gets out of hand. People are hiding secrets, and friendships/ relationships start to spiral. Who is hiding what? Exactly what happened that July and how does it relates to what is happening now.
Told from multiple points of view, this has it all. The wealth, the glitz, and glamour are any of them happy.
A fabulous location, lots of champagne flowing, this is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you on your toes.
A great summer read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Aria and Aries for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Her Perfect Escape by Rachel Wolf is another great success!!
There was the perfect amount of suspense, addictive characters and a memorable plot!!!
It will tease you, worry you, and grab your attention from the first chapter!!! I loved it!!
With Tash being the main character in this story, we hear about the family dynamics, what’s ripped certain relationships apart, and what the future may hold for them… I can say that each character is different and gives their own voice to the story. You will be hooked!! Throwing in the setting of the Greek island, the villa where they’re all staying to celebrate Dom’s birthday and an insight into their privileged lives, we see that money doesn’t save you from your past…..
Many thanks to Aria & Aries for the opportunity to read this arc copy via Netgalley. My opinion is my own.

This is the first book I’ve read from Rachel Wolf, but now I’ll make sure to go back and check out her backlist.

The setting of this one was perfect and would make a great holiday read. The pacing was really good and the plot kept my attention well, meaning I finished the book really quickly despite there being a lot of characters and timelines to keep track of. There were a few twists that were unexpected, but I kind of raced through the ending expecting something a bit more satisfying. Overall though, a great destination thriller and I really like the author’s writing style.

3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (rounded up)

Her Perfect Escape is a destination thriller set on the beautiful islands of Greece. The dual timelines and multiple POVs work so well alongside the short chapters, to give depth and pace to this story.

The prologue? *chefs kiss* I was hooked immediately.

I love a destination thriller where the story is darker than the setting. I'm also a huge fan of family focused thrillers, so this is right up my street. Tash's character is broken but determined and it makes it so easy to understand her and her motives, and hope for the best for her. I also appreciate how authentic the sisterly connections are. Between the love interests, broken relationships, deaths, tragedies, and alcohol fueled partying, this book has layers of secrets to dig through.

Firstly, I want to say thank you so much to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This was such an amazing book- it kept me hooked right from the beginning and I absolutely demolished this book in one sitting! This is my first book by Rachel, but I will definitely be picking up another soon because I really enjoyed her writing style! I particularly liked the setting that she picked for this story; the book is set on the Greek Island Mykonos, so you would expect the story to be full of sunshine and happiness. However, the way that Rachel presented the island created an element of darkness, uncertainty and betrayal that worked so well with the central storyline.

I also really enjoyed the many POVs we had in this book; I am a big fan of multiple POVs done right. By this, I mean where it’s easy to identify which character’s POV you’re reading even if you didn’t look at the chapter title! The author executed the multiple POVs so well here, and I never found myself confused about which character was narrating at any point!

I also enjoyed the fact that we went between 2 different points in time- I felt like the flashbacks really added to the story and created an extra level of suspense and tension that I love to see in mystery/ thrillers.

Finally, the ending was executed perfectly. Although unexpected, it was the perfect way to diffuse the tension that had been building up the whole book.
Overall it was an enjoyable thriller with numerous twists and turns. Her Perfect Escape is out now- definitely pick up a copy!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for granting me an ARC of Her Perfect Escape.

I’ve given this 4 stars because it kept me interested. I struggled through the first few chapters, and am glad that I carried on. I have read and enjoyed other books by this author previously.

There were a lot of characters and I found it difficult at first to remember who was connected to who, especially the girlfriends of the boys. I didn’t find any of the characters particularly likeable, and the politician was, well, a politician; dirty, scandalous and downright loathsome.

Overall, a decent read once it picked up. 4 stars.
