Confessions of a Smut Author

Rate this book
This is the first of the stand-alone extremely erotic novellas exposing the life of a male Erotica author. **WARNING** DO NOT attempt the scenes depicted in this novella.

Shawn Fairfield is an erotica author who had always used his wife as the sexual inspiration for his novels. Be it a dark erotica or something a little softer, he had always felt the need to make the sexual scenes 'accurate'.

After the death of his wife, he became a recluse. After over a year, when he finally ventured from his home, he met a very unlikely woman who was willing to act as his muse.
Cheryl Baker is a religious woman who comes from a very strict and religious background. She admits to Shawn, after they meet the first time, that she enjoys reading erotic novels. She is immediately drawn to the author, and is intrigued by his writings, and his personality.

She agrees to have a sexual relationship with the author, acting as his inspiration and muse. There's only one problem - she has no idea of what type of book Shawn was working on when his wife died. Calling the unfinished novel ‘dark’ doesn't quite do it justice.

And Shawn is determined to finish it, using Cheryl as his muse.

This novella is extremely, and I do mean extremely, erotic. There are many scenes of role play, some of which are nonconsensual. Additionally, some of the sexual scenes are of a very explicit nature, and depict acts that should NOT be experienced by the reader in real life, and only enjoyed as entertainment through reading this book.

Please, proceed with caution.

Includes MM, MMF, MMMF, MMMMF, FF, and NOCONSENTUAL SEX scenes. Additionally, this novella includes scenes of asphyxiation and should not be considered anything the reader should experience, only read for entertainment value.

I should start this off with the fact I like erotica but not romance. I prefer stories with no HEA, it actually ruins things for me. If that’s what you like then you probably shouldn’t read books I five star.

The problem with most popular erotica I find is that it’s almost always written by a woman. They are fantasy’s that women living a life far removed from the books can turn to for a little thrill. The sex in the books is probably something the reader either has no experience with or couldn’t in their current version of reality participate in. That’s what makes them erotic. The books typically fail me for a couple of reasons:

1. The men don’t talk, act or think how men act. They are romanticized dominants. All pretty boy billionaires… successful Doms in both private and public.
2. Sex always happens in a controlled manner. Introductions to “the life” in a regulated sex club or lair of domination.
3. Seriously all Doms live in NY and can afford a brownstone with a basement and/or two story condo decked out with the latest sex toys and sound proof chamber? I own a 110 year old brick house, do you know how much it would cost me to sound proof my basement at this point. Too much, the neighbors would just have to hear you scream.
4. Initial meeting may or may not be at a hotel similar to the Regis and he’ll be decked out in a tailored Armani suit, hair styled just so.
5. Woman will be so perfectly submissive from the onset and there is never any fumbling firsts…
6. And no one ever, ever gets seriously hurt.

While reading those books I do often times wonder, when chuckling to myself after a scene that should be erotic but ends up being highly unbelievable or predictably routine for an erotic book, however does a person come up with this type of stuff. I mean shouldn’t you try and do some of this.

I loved this book because it was about exactly that. How or does an erotic author actually try out the things they are writing about. There is some stuff in the book that doesn’t work, for instance the M/M scenes and before you go getting all riled up, I believe that is the point. However would a heterosexual male with no experience and no desire to gain any successfully write M/M novels? They might try (due to online reader polls) but how erotic would it be?

The other aspect of the book I enjoyed was how realistic the POV was from both Cheryl & Shawn’s perspective. Some things they tried worked, some things did not. Things they thought they would enjoy didn’t end up as erotic as they had hoped. I liked how their relationship unfolded, the story itself felt real & isn’t that the point. The book ended up being extremely erotic, in a realistic way.

Oh...& Mr. Hildreth… should you ever need a muse…

This book was eye opening.

Well, the book begins with the male MC in a sex shop seeing a friend. We immediately learn his wife has passed away a year or so prior, and he is slow to recover from the loss. He stumbles into a rack of 'f*ck jelly', knocks it over, and in the process, meets a woman and they kind of hit it off.

She is from a very religious family, and is somewhat a polar opposite, (or so it initially seems) of him. He is an erotica author, and she works at her parents jewelry store.

He used his wife as his muse for a book, and the subject matter, although erotic sex, was questionable at best.

His new woman friend agrees willingly, and quite eagerly I might add, to act as his new inspiration for his erotica novels (but she has no idea what the book he was writing was about when his wife died). The author believes he must write accurate sex scenes in his books. Therefore, in his opinion, he must act them out so his writing is a reflection of the truth, and not simply fiction.

The problem, it seems, is some of the subject matter he writes about.

Wow.

I'll leave it at that.

Wow.

MM, FFM, FFMM, FMMM, and if you have triggers from a past sexual experience which wasn't necessarily consensual, proceed with caution.

This book covers a lot of ground, sexually speaking, in a short time.

And, it appears it may be series about this particular author.

I cant wait to see what's next.

A must read if you're wanting a little of the stranger taboo side of things.

One particular scene really made me wonder about the desires of some people, and what makes them tick from a sexual standpoint.

I just hope there's not anyone who decides to try to see if it's a good idea, because what is written in this book, at least in one scene, needs to remain fiction.

*wipes brow*

Ummm yes the above definition is how my little vanilla OCD mind is feeling right now. LMAO aaannnddd I am pretty positive the ride is not over. Scott Hildreth’s latest book was extremely fascinating and made me think, and in hindsight over think, since the details are still running through my head *blush*.
The manner that this story is laid out was extremely intriguing to me, which added to the story’s appeal. As with any great Hildreth book I wanted to get into the heads of the characters and figure out what made them tick. The main characters Shawn and Cheryl are complex, and ____________________ . Yep that is a blank space because I got nothing because the story is not over, I NEED MORE!!!! I CANNOT wait to see what is coming, and I hate waiting. I have made the mistake in the past of trying to second guess where this author is going to go in a series, for this one I am not even going to try…. This story is a MUST READ; especially if you love to think and read outside the box, shit just chuck the box out the window for this book ;)….. Well Done Mr. Hildreth I am hooked on seeing where you are going to take this.

If I wouldn't have saw Scott Hildreth on the cover I wouldn't have know this was his book. It was different from what he normally writes but you could feel him as the person shine through, not as a character. I loved that this was just a story. No lesson to be learned, no deeper meaning to find just a great in site into what could really be happening behind the scenes.

The sex in like all books Scott writes was hot of course and as for housing my first ever read M/M scenes it was way better than I expected.

Don't let the warning scare you it's a great read by the writing machine that is Scott Hildreth. Don't let it pass you by.

What a page turner

this book was a great read for a boring night. Wow. The author in the book was a very insightful man with an oddly interesting sexual background. The sexual scenes were quite vivid and though provoking. One, however, was just shy of insanity. Great read.

THE most intriguing erotica I've read to date!
Although degrading, offensive & random sexual acts brought to life, it had a meaningful storyline behind it.
This was genius. What better way to understand what is believable, especially to your readers
than to find your own muse?!

I'm conservative. I prefer the vanilla and my HEA.

Oh wait… is my nose is growing? Jiminy Cricket I am not.

**Taps Mic** Can you hear me over the noise? That noise? Yep. That noise is my brain literaly rattling. Who doesn't love a story that makes your brain rattle?

WTF? Wait. Whuuuutttt did I just read? Yep. Seriously.

I like to "believe" that at this point I'm fairly versed in the world of erotica and BDSM. (I may, or may not have gone to google or fetlife on this one).

Well played Mr. Hildreth. Well played.

Honestly and admittedly, I thought long and hard about my rating on this one. I vacillated between four and five stars. When all was said and done, I decided on five. I decided on five because quite frankly this left me wondering where this story was going. I've a feeling the next installment will leave me blindsided. This isn't for the faint at heart, but none of it is in any way far fetched. The writing as always, is well done. The plot, well thought out. The characters, multi faceted.

As much as this is a different story for Scott Hildreth, it's really not. He's proven repeatedly that he manages to write what ever he sets his mind to, and he writes it well. My brain is still rattling because its not at all what I expected. I simply had no idea. My heart is leery, because I can only imagine what is coming. My brain is already scrambled and I'm sure I've no clue what the rest of this story is.

Holy hell.

If your tired of the same 'ole story in every book you read, read this. It has all of ^^^ that, and more.

*****Disclaimer - the ONLY reason I struggled with the rating on this book was the fact that I have no idea where the author is taking me.

My personal rating scale is as follows: 3 stars is a solid read for me; 4 stars is a book that I loved; and a 5 star rating from me is a book that affected me personally (I stand by this, you can read all of my reviews and see this pattern).

While I will say that this book didn't provide me with the "ah-ha" moment that Scott's books normally do - I have yet to shake the fact that I know in my gut the subsequent installments will. I am a blogger at heart, and take my reviews seriously. I feel that those who read my reviews expect that. In the end, this book got five stars because I wanted more and I didn't have the whole story. Confessions did something that doesn't often happen, it caused me to shake my head and go what in the hell? Not many authors have the capability to do that to me. Scott Hildreth?

He does.

Please do not take my above review to mean that I questioned whether I loved the book or not. I most certainly did, as will you. The concept is awesome. It took me by surprise. I thought I had read just about everything. Trust me when I say that you also will be waiting impatiently as am I, for the next chapter. If you're not squeamish, this is a MUST READ. Don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself. *****

As with all of Scott' books, they are simply amazing. Scott has the ability to draw his readers in and make them feel like they are the character.
Like the disclaimer states, this is an erotica book. If you are offended by the BDSM lifestyle, then perhaps this book isn't for you.

This book is about an Erotica Author named Shawn. He lost his wife to an accident and has since then just been living. He's in the middle of a book that he was writing before his wife's death. The problem is, is that she was his muse, and was willing to act out the scenes that he writes about. Now he has no idea what he is going to do.

Shawn decides to go out and visit his buddy that works at a porn shop. He turns around when he hears the door open and is shocked. He sees this beautiful woman who looks so much like his wife, that it stuns him.

Cheryl, (raised in a religious home)is shopping for a White Elephant gag gift for a party that she is going to attend. She's nervous thinking if her parents knew that she was in a porn shop, that they would flip. She is in the middle of deciding which "toy" to get when she notices this hot guy across the store looking at her. When he gets the nerve to come say hi, he trips "literally", over a display stand.

The two of them start getting to know each other. They both find out that neither of them are looking for a mate.

Read the book to find out how this story pans out, and how the characters have more in common than either one thought of.

This is a short story about Shawn, an adult romance author. In the past, he and his wife practiced all of the sex scenes he wrote about to ensure they were believable. Sadly, his wife passed away. For the last year following her death, Shawn has stayed to himself and shut out everyone around him. Until he visits his friend and runs into her. Cheryl. She not only has the same name as his late wife, but she could also pass as her sister.

After having coffee with Cheryl, Shawn can't get her out of his mind. He invites her over and has a proposition for her. Shawn would like for Cheryl to serve as his inspiration for future books. They begin a no-strings affair acting out scenes so Shawn can write them accurately. What happens when Cheryl discovers that Shawn's wife died performing a scene for a sequel book he was writing?

This book was a little different to me than other SH books I've read. But that's what makes this author so great, he always surprises us. Be prepared for some hot scenes.

Breathtaking and sexual

I think this book is totally different than the other books Hildreth has written mostly because there was not a lot of varied actions as in the others. No fight scenes, no beating people up; however he did include his trademark move with the Chucks. Lol As the title states this is filled with hot sex and delicious scenarios that are acted out for the sole purpose of giving the author (Shawn in the book author) ideas for the book he is currently writing. Of course loved the female character's name. The similarity? In true Hildreth form you look for alternative meanings behind the prose. Psychologically is Shawn trying to get over the loss he experienced? Is he just trying to finish a book? The ending? Sit on the edge of your seat. Did you see the final scene coming? Were you holding your breath as it was happening? Aha Scott Hildreth keeps you thinking, wanting more and waiting. . .

Let me start off by saying, "Chuck Fuckin'" if you haven't tried it after the 1st time Scott introduced it to us....I have to ask, "what are you waiting for?" Don't knock it until you try it! Trust me on this!
Ok, so, this book was not what I was expecting at all! I have to say, the "warning" that comes along with this book...maybe I'm a sexual deviant I don't know, but I think a lot of what happens in this book is more common then people think.
Scott as usual wrote an excellent book, this was very hot!! I have to wonder after a part of what he wrote(I don't want to give anything away) but, I wonder how much our dear author is writing from experience!! Hehe!! ;)
This as well as all SH's books, I will recommend to everyone I know...well maybe not the prude like ones!! Lol
Great job Scott!!

Not what I expected

The synopsis sounded interesting. The beginning of the story was kind of cute but from the point where Cheryl first went to Shawn's apartment, right through to the end of the book, it was all downhill. I love erotic romance but I felt this was a complete turn-off and not particularly well-written. I purchased a couple more books by this author so I am hoping this book is not representative of all his work.

Great read fora strong stomach

This book was nothing like I expected. I honestly can't compare it to anything I've read before. But, it now has me wondering about all of the erotic and smut authors I've read over the years. How do they create such elaborate stories and do they use a muse? I would definitely read a sequel to this in a heartbeat! Phenomenal!!!!!

Wow. I realized what would happen about 2/3 of the way through the book. This story about a story about a story just blew my mind. Not sure I liked it but couldn't look away. Totally engrossing and highly captivating, this book is. Not for everyone but I still marvel at his ability to tell a story and hold an audience!

Let's just say that this novella is not for the sexual weak at heart...a sexual smorgasbord...boy on boy, girl on girl, girl on boy, boy and boy and one more boy on girl etc...one writer who captures it all...very inventive storyline for Hildreth...impressive!!!

Fast read

I don't know how to review this novella. I don't know if I liked it or not. It ended strange. Not what I expected. Maybe I didn't know what to expect or did and it didn't end how I wanted it too.

This is something the next reader will have to determine. I love this author's work. This one? Let us know what you think.

Okay. So this book was so close to becoming a book I would have been attached to🥺 but it was so short and no real depth in the story. I wish there was a sequel that I could read that shows how life is after the first book because quite frankly this book had a cliffhanger ending and I'm curious. As. Hell.
