A funny paranormal holiday short story from the author of The Grim Reaper’s Lawyer.
When I booked a solo holiday getaway in a remote Colorado cabin, I was expecting cozy fires, mouth watering cookies, spiked eggnog, and blissful silence. The last thing I needed on my holiday was to accidentally murder a man.
Well, not a man.
Unless they have evolved to have horns, red eyes, and the hottest body I’ve ever seen. Maybe not the body part, but you get my point.
He’s a demon.
Imagine my shock when he strolls into the living room unscathed and informs me that a knife in the heart isn’t enough to kill him plus he also booked the same cabin as me.
Now, the snow has us trapped, the cabin has one bed, and my list of bad decisions is growing.
Screw it. I’ll just blame it on the eggnog.
How to Hide a Body on Christmas is a spicy, witty, and warm romantic holiday short story for anyone who Strangers to Lovers, Forced Proximity, and Snowed-in tension.
Short, hilarious, sexy, insta-love. And even a little holly and jolly. Mea Monique’s sense of humor is the best. One page in and I sent this to the bestie to read. Perfect PNR! I really hope she expands this series!
A demon named Deamon? Yeah… that alone had me cackling. I honestly had no idea what to expect when I downloaded this book, but I’m so glad I took the chance. This paranormal short completely won me over. This story is short, spicy, and packed with some of my favorite tropes. Forced proximity? Check. Strangers-to-lovers? Absolutely. Snowed-in tension so thick you could spread it on a biscuit? YES. And the humor? On point. This author is genuinely funny — even the friend group had me cracking up. Overall, I really enjoyed the writing and the vibe. I’ll definitely be checking out more of her books.
If you love your holiday romances with a little murder-adjacent chaos, paranormal spice, and laugh-out-loud banter, this one is an absolute treat. How to Hide a Body for Christmas is a spicy, witty, warm rom-com paranormal that leans all the way into festive absurdity—in the best possible way. What really makes this story pop is how it balances tones: • 🎄 Cozy holiday vibes (snow, isolation, Christmas chaos) • 😈 Paranormal fun without taking itself too seriously • 🌶️ Spice that’s cheeky and hot, never overdone • 😂 Rom-com humor that keeps the pace light and entertaining
This is the kind of holiday read you devour in one sitting—perfect if you want something short, spicy, funny, and festive, with a paranormal twist that feels fresh instead of heavy. this book proves that Christmas miracles come in many forms… sometimes with horns and killer banter
I understand the author addressed that this isn’t even a novella. Just a super short piece of work. 50 pages.
However.
This could have been executed better in my opinion. First of all, the fmc commits murder. Great, okay. But I would’ve loved to see a more natural response. Panic. Tears. Especially since she’s a lawyer who’s fought against this?
And the relationship between Daemon and Mariah was way tooooo quick. Again. I acknowledge the short fiction part but would have loved for it to have had a decent development other than ‘we just met, let’s fuck.’
That being said, none of the issues I had with this work had anything to do with the writing style and I will try her other books!
Daemon was on Demon time. Literally! 😉😈 This was comedy mixed with the right amount of SPICE baby. I believe this is my first read by the author. And imma stick beside her.
Her friends kept me in literal stitches. Cause not y’all volunteered to be an accessory to a murder. 🤣🤣🤣
I’m hoping she’s working on a part 2 so we can hear all about the grim reapers, vampires, elves and cupids in the city. lol
And I ain’t mad at Mariah. I would’ve been holding onto his horns too. 🤭
Unfortunately this book ended too quickly!! This book was too good. It was funny, cute and sexy! I need Val and Evie to find their paranormal counterparts immediately!!!!
I loved this friend group because me and my best friends are the same way (minus the murder part 🤣🤣🤣)
I loved how this was written and even though it was short you got enough info about the characters to fall in love with them.
For a 53-page short story, this one delivered. It was funny as hell, cute, and had just the right amount of spice to keep things fun without overstaying its welcome. A fast, entertaining read that did exactly what it set out to do. Perfect for when you want something light, flirty, and laugh out loud enjoyable.
Mea Monique did not disappoint with this funny little novella. I found myself saying aww and chuckling at some of the banter. I love the writing style and humor the author weaves into her stories. This was so fun to read. I recommend it to anyone looking for some quick, easy and fun to read.
A scorching fast burn filled with holiday puns and laughs. Perfect for monster romance lovers who want a quick festive read. The dynamic between the trio of friends was so funny, I can’t wait to see further appearances in future books. There’s a few typos but otherwise this was delightful.
This story feels like real life, but it is instant love done well. As a girl who fantasizes about otherworldly creatures, this was a perfect read. I would read a longer version of this story. If the series continues like this, I will keep reading.
Funny, cute and sweet little Christmas book. This little novella had me laughing from start to finish. Now I want some eggnog, and to cuddle with a demon. lol
"I think all men are demons. You’re just affirming that I was correct in my assumption."
I cackled so much! Evie and Val were everything!! Mariah is amazing in a crisis and Daemon enjoys being the crisis too much hahah This was short and fun! So hope we get a mini series!
Cute bite sized holiday read. I wish she opted to make this novella length versus a short story. It feels like it could have easily been 100 pages. I’m looking forward to the additional holiday themed stories in this series. 🤞 for a Cupid one.
This was the perfect short read! The girls were hilarious and so realistic. And the man was hot, funny, and well endowed! Great read and I am very excited to hear more from this group.
Weird, silly, sexy and funny. If you like Kimberly Lemming type, go with the flow, down with whatever FMCs you will enjoy this Christmas Novella. Mariah thinks she has killed an intruder but things aren’t what they seem. A very enjoyable novella.
Fun, fast, and entertaining. The banter was funny, the friendships were a highlight, and it had just enough spice to keep things interesting. Perfect for a quick holiday read.
This was cute! Definitely fast paced, but a fun little holiday read. It does make me curious about this author’s longer novels since this truly was just a little taste of their writing.
