Book 4 of the coast to coast series takes us to: Montana! 🤠
This series and the Kelly family is a good time.
Oldest brother Owen Kelly Set to be CEO of family company “City boy” L.A. Green flags
Oldest sister, Charlotte Brooks Country girl , Montana Event planner of her family company
Fake engagement Pranks on the awful ex Very different family dynamics But all around fun siblings Country shenanigans Rich kids - met at summer camp at 12 but drifted apart
4.5 ⭐️ 📕:Coastal Lies by Kathryn Coin Why you’ll love this book!! Cowboy Romance Forced Proximity Fake Engagement Love At First Sight Acquaintances To Lovers Small Town I love how Kathryn Coin writes her stories! She makes the characters feel like actual people because most authors in my opinion don’t always write realistic relationships and I am cool with that but how Kathryn write her characters they have flaws their not perfect and I love that so much! The group chats and banter had me cracking up. Owen is the oldest Kelly sibling and is constantly pressured into dating but he feels he doesn’t have time for that. Charlette is home for her usual summer time break. When Own and Charlette run into each other they agree to be fake engaged to help each other out.
The Kelly’s are back and my heart is full. 🤎 I didn’t realize how much I missed this family until I was back with them — it felt like coming home. I love a good cowboy romance, and this one was written so perfectly. Lo is such an authentic character and getting to know her was a joy. And Owen… the chemistry between them? Soft, real, slow-burn tension that hits exactly right. This book is cozy, emotional, and full of scenes that stay with you. I devoured it.
𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗯: One month. One trip. One lie that changes everything.
Charlotte Brooks returns to her family’s ranch for her usual summer escape — this time trying to move on after a lifelong relationship ends. Owen Kelly is the responsible oldest sibling with no time for romance, yet people won’t stop pressuring him about it. When the two reconnect, they agree to pretend to be engaged: she gets to show she’s moved on, he gets a break from the speculation. A perfect plan… until blurred lines and real feelings complicate everything.
𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: 🤠 Cowboy Romance 🏠 Small Town 💍 Fake Engagement 🛌 Forced Proximity ✨ Acquaintances to Lovers
Y’all imma be real, I missed the Kelly’s so much🥹 this whole Coast to Coast series has become my one of my favs and I live for each of they’re stories!! Coastal Lies is the 4th book in this series and can be read as a standalone!!
Okay, let’s start off with the fact that I DEVOURED this book okay! Owen shocked me completely!! Like I did not think this man would be all in his cowboy era but he did, and Charlotte the woman that she is!!! Ughh I loved her so much!! Her fierceness and personality!!
The friends to lovers & fake engagement of this really had it going for me, the funny banter with the siblings from both Owen and Charlotte and the tension between the MMC’s😍🔥 I couldn’t get enough of them!!
Thank you for the Arc opportunity!!!
Tropes: -Found Family -Friends to Lovers -Fake Engagement -Cowboy Romance -Small Town -Forced Proximity
I have been anxiously waiting for the next book in this series and wanting to know what was going to happen next after reading that snippet in Coastal Commitment. I was lucky enough to be chosen to read as an arc reader for the previous book and I was lucky enough to be chosen again!! I am absolutely in love with the Kelly family and when we got that sneak peek of Owen and Charlotte, I was at the edge of my seat 🙂↕️ and boy, does Kathryn Coin do it again! This book is literally a freaking masterpiece bc I have been rooting for both Owen and Charlotte since they first met!! I love the way Kathryn continues to create beautiful love stories and how she is able to make it feel like you are watching a movie, not just reading 🤭
This is the story of Owen, who at the age of around 12, has been going to a camp full of children with rich parents. Owen and his twin sister, Kayleigh, have been going since they were younger and were used to the same crowd year after year. Eventually their own siblings join as well, and Owen feels like its a routine. Until one summer, a new girl joins their camp and the moment he sees her, he is totally gone for her 🤭 He is flabbergasted with how gorgeous and different she is than anyone else in camp. When he finally builds enough courage to talk to Lottie, she ends up kissing Fletch and that is the last time he tries to talk to her.
Now, as an adult, and the oldest of the siblings, Owen is tired of hearing the tabloids talk about how single he is and when he is ready to settle. Most of his siblings are engaged, and/or married, except for Kayleigh, who is traveling and single. He is tired of having to keep up appearances and wishes there was a way to get even his own family off his romantic life. He is at an event when out of nowhere, his breath is taken away. That has only happened once in his life when he first met Lottie in camp, and when this gorgeous woman turns around, it is Lottie in the flesh! 🤭 However, he sees Fletch and assumes they are still together after all this time, so he tries to leave her alone.
Charlotte, or Lottie, has always been in a relationship with Fletch ever since they were kids, back in camp, when she first met everyone. Now, as an adult, she doesn’t know what to do with her life. She aches to go back to Montana and be at her family ranch, with her horse Honey. But, she was forced to move to California and continue managing the family’s business as an event coordinator. At the polo event she organized, she sees Fletch and quickly disappears bc she broke it off with him the moment he proposed to her at a fancy restaurant. Charlotte wants more in life, but is afraid to go against her grandmother, who runs the business, even though she isn’t the owner. When Fletch doesn’t leave her alone, Owen saves her and passes off as her fake boyfriend. Charlotte takes it one step further and presents him as her fiancee. Fletch, angry, walks away and Charlotte assumes that her troubles are finally over…. (they are not).
Both Owen and Charlotte start fake dating and pretend to be fiancees until the end of the summer to please both of their families. What these two don’t realize is that they are meant to be together! ❤️ The way these two think that pretending to be together wont stir up their actual feelings is insane but adorable 🤭 I absolutely loved reading both Owen and Charlotte’s journey of finding one another and realizing that they deserve each other ❤️ There are some ups and downs in their relationship, which is understandable and made my heart ache more for them ❤️ I cannot wait for the next book in the freaking series!! I love this series sooooo much and I have a feeling I know who the next Kelly sibling is going to be 🤭
Are you in a circumstance where you must compromise your happiness to fulfill your grandmother's goal to take over the family business? For me, it feels like I have invisible shackles chained to my limbs. You want to save yourself by finding a position you’re happier in, but you feel guilty for letting down your family, so your reluctance forces you into a gray area where you cannot give your best to either side. If you take a chance and read this novel, you might understand what I'm feeling while reading this book.
Coastal Lies reflects on self-discovery, love, sacrifice, and the delicate balance between family commitment and personal happiness. To avoid the pressure of family gatherings and awkward questions, Charlotte decides on a solution: convince Owen to pretend to be her fake fiancé. As they spend more time together, their arrangement starts to blur the lines between friendship and something more.
Owen Kelly doesn't have time for dates and has always been working non-stop since he took over his family's company. Until he crossed paths with his childhood crush, Charlotte Brooks. Charlotte Brooks is a fierce and vivacious person who finds it challenging to strike a balance between her obligations and her desire for the independence and ambition she always dreamed of. Every time her grandma put additional pressure on her to get married, I sincerely wanted to comfort her. She just doesn't see the end of the light at the end of the tunnel for Charlotte in her choices.
Their characters lend credibility and authenticity to the real world. Charlotte's character teaches that you can make your own decisions and break free from the people who control your life, and that doing things that are in their circle will not allow you to grow as a person. She has benefited from Owen's protective nature, and it's wonderful to watch him emerge from his grumpy demeanor when he acknowledges that Charlotte is his joy, his chaos, and his source of happiness. Upon their reunion years later, the ember that began when they first met at camp, while they were still young, steadily grows brighter as they spend more time together. Offering spectacular and explosive chemistry.
At its heart, Coastal Lies is a tender, thought-provoking novel that underscores the complexities of love, trust, and honesty in relationships both personal and familial. Its charming characters and entertaining banter will tempt you to stay with them longer. A compelling choice for romance lovers who want a story that strikes a balance between authentic conflicts and emotional development, with a worthwhile resolution at the end.
Receiving a gratis Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book was an honour, and I'm presenting my candid opinion based on my own experience. I am eternally grateful to Kathryn Coin for entrusting me with reading this book beforehand.
There’s something instantly comforting about a Kathryn Coin romance—the warmth, the wit, the emotional honesty—and Coastal Lies delivers all of that in spades. What makes this book stand out isn’t just the fake-engagement setup (though it’s executed deliciously), but the way Coin roots the romance in two people actively rebuilding themselves.
Charlotte is a heroine you feel for from page one. After spending her entire life with one boy, she finally cuts the cord and steps into uncertainty. Her exhaustion, her need for peace, her craving for a place where she can actually breathe—all of it makes her retreat to Ashton Creek feel deeply relatable. Coin writes her with rawness but also a quiet resilience that you can’t help admiring.
Owen is the perfect counterpart. As the classic over-responsible eldest sibling, he’s been living a life built on duty rather than choice. Watching him loosen his tie—literally and emotionally—as he spends time with Charlotte is one of the emotional highlights of the book. He doesn’t swoop in to save her; instead, they slowly steady each other.
Their chemistry? Slow-burn, genuine, beautifully earned. Their banter feels familiar, like two people slipping back into a rhythm neither expected. And when the fake-engagement façade begins to crumble, the emotional payoff feels both inevitable and satisfying.
The Montana ranch setting adds a nostalgic, almost cinematic charm. Coin uses the landscape—wide skies, quiet mornings, family chaos—to mirror the internal shifts happening between Charlotte and Owen.
If you love: • fake engagement • childhood friends reunited • ranch-retreat settings • family-drama-meets-emotional-growth • tender slow burns with a real emotional spine
…this one is absolutely worth your time.
Thanks to the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
💭: At this point, Kathryn Coin is an 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘰-𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 author for me. If she writes it, I’m reading it - no questions asked. And the fact that we’ve officially dipped our toes into her cowboy era has me sooooo excited.
Charlotte Brooks is 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙 - that kind of magnetic, carefree energy that makes you think she lives life completely on her own terms. But under the surface, her controlling grandmother is quietly pulling the strings, and watching Charlotte’s spark dim to fit into that rigid mold broke my heart.
Then there’s Owen Kelly - the oldest of the Kelly clan, future CEO of their multimillion-dollar tech empire, and a man who’d rather keep to himself than deal with the glare of the paparazzi. He’s grounded, steady, and deeply loyal to his family.
We’ve already fallen hard for the Kellys over the last three 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 books - they’re impossible not to love - but what completely surprised me was how quickly I became invested in the Brooks family too. Not me googling properties in Montana like I could just move in next door!
I adore a spitfire FMC and an MMC who never tries to dim her light. Owen Kelly 𝘴𝘢𝘸 Charlotte for exactly who she was and gave her space to shine. And I loved that despite his privileged life, he was humble, kind, and so clearly aware of how blessed he was to have his family. His compassion just radiated off the page.
I can’t wait to see what Kathryn Coin has in store for the rest of the 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 series - and especially for the Brooks family. Because one thing’s for sure: Owen Kelly made one mighty fine cowboy. Who would’ve guessed that city boy had it in him?
Coastal Lies is a sweet and fun story following Charlotte, the coastal cowgirl of your dreams, and Owen, the down to earth CEO who doesn’t shy away from Charlotte’s free spirit. This book features fake engagement, forced proximity, and my favorite wear the hat ride the cowboy. As Charlotte and Owen enter a fake engagement to push out Charlotte’s ex from her family and score Owen a date to all his family functions, the pair begins to learn there’s more beneath the others surface. Charlotte appears to be an LA socialite, but hiding beneath is a free spirited cowgirl who loves life on the ranch. Owen appears to be the hardworking CEO, but underneath is a kind and caring guy. Navigating a trip to Charlotte’s ranch is the goal, but the result is the start of something neither of them saw coming.
I enjoyed the setting in this book. The ranch was so cozy and gave Yellowstone vibes. The wild and crazy vibes of everyone there were contagious and made the reading experience more fun. I loved the pranks played on Fletch, it was the retribution I never knew I needed. This book gave me all the messy drama I could’ve asked for and I ate it up!
Owen was the star of the show for me. The way he helped Charlotte marry her two lifestyles and show her that she can mix her LA socialite life with her cowgirl ranch life was so sweet. He really helped her come out of her shell and gave her every ounce of support she needed in order to be who she wants. Thank you Kathryn Coin for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!
Okay okay, we are back and better than ever! To start off I am absolutely obsessed with the Kelly’s and the Malibu house but this has got to be my favorite so far in the Coast to Coast series! I didn’t realize how much I missed this family until I dove right back in!
We have so many amazing things happening here that I was not ready for but oh my gosh I ate it up!
🐴Cowboy Romance ⛰️Montana Mountains 🐴Small Town ⛰️Fake Engagement 🐴Forced Proximity ⛰️Acquaintances to Lovers
I finished this book in one sitting and I was not letting anything get in my way. Kathryn Coin is truly an incredible author and I still don’t understand how she’s made me fall in love with so many people. Each person in the family is so unique and it was so exciting to take this to a new part of the country.
I recently found out I love cowboy romances and this one so unexpectedly delightful. 😏
Cowboy hat ✅ Cowboy boots✅ Riding a horse ✅
Seriously though this was such a fun read with banter, love, sass, spice! The families on both sides are just so fun and so incredible and I can’t wait to read about more of them! I am an only child so to read books like this it makes me miss something I never had nor did I ever think I wanted! But it is so nice to beable to live through these books!
Thank you Kathryn for this ARC, I truly love this world so much and I can’t wait to read more!
Another Kelly sibling book has been amazing, and this book was no different. This is a fake engagement book with a month getaway to Lottie family ranch
Lottie and Owen has known each other since camp from when they were younger but lost contact but reconnected when they ran to each other while her ex was bugging her so they said they were together
The chemistry and banter with these two is just amazing. I was laughing the whole book, this is just such a feel good book it was everything and Lottie siblings was just chef kiss and I love all the little hits we were getting for future books
Charlotte aka Lottie is the Events Director in LA at her families resort. But she hates it cause she misses her family and wants to be on the ranch but her grandma sent her away cause she’s the oldest in her grandma eyes when she’s not. I love her so much she’s amazing
I love me some feel good small town book and this was no different, I just loved everything about this book and I never wanted it to end honestly needed more and the side characters was just amazing except 2 people if ykyk
Owen is the oldest Kelly and will be CEO of his family company one day, he has five siblings and is a twin. I love him so much loll
I’m so excited for the next book in this series and with more to come!
🤠 what to expect -Forced Proximity -Small Town -Fake Engagement -Acquaintances to lovers -Chaotic Family -One Bed -City Boy vs Country Girl
* I was sent this book by Kathryn Coin, this is my own opinion. Thank you to Kathryn Coin for sending me her book*
Charlotte returns home for her summer escape trying get over her breakup from her long term boyfriend. Owen is the oldest sibling who is all about his work and doesn't have time for love which annoys his family.
When Owen sees Charlotte at an event, the two of them reconnect and have a plan that Owen will return home with her and will pretend to be her fiancé to prove that she has moved on from her old relationship and to get Owen's family to lay off the pressure on him.
Seems like the perfect plan until feelings start to get involved.
This is the second Kathryn Coin book that I have read and I wasn't disappointed by it! I have added the rest of this series to my 'To Be Read' list as I really enjoyed it and I want to continue the series!
I'm looking forward to reading some more of Kathryn Coin's books!
Charlotte is an event planner from Montana forced to live in LA. When she reunites with an old friend Owen, he helps her save face with an ex by pretending to be her fiancée. A mutually beneficial arrangement is born, but will it stay platonic?
I really enjoyed this one! It’s part four of a series about siblings. You can read them standalone without too many spoilers aside from who is with who, but I would recommend reading in order if possible.
This author has a knack for writing likable and complex characters. There are a lot of side characters, especially in this one as we meet Charlotte’s siblings. I am hoping we get to delve deeper into their lives at some point as well.
I liked how Owen and Charlotte understood each other so well and really came into the relationship from a place of deep respect. Watching the relationship grew was great. The spice was nice. Not too many scenes if that’s not your thing.
Overall, really well done fake engagement romance. Five stars! ✨
First Off, thank you to Kathryn and her team for the ARC opportunity!
I fell in love with Coastal Summer and I can say that this book has not disappointed me at all.
I am always in awe of Kathryns ability to write characters that gives us both fantasy and reality. That the storylines always makes it that it touches on real life struggles/stories but also giving us this sense of security that it does get better and it will get better.
I loved the slow-burn tension build up that she has created between Owen and Charlotte. But also! I couldn’t stop swooning, squealing and just kicking the air for the swoon moments and just the chemistry between these two!
Read this book everyone! You will not be disappointed!
this authors work is exactly why I read romance. she's amazing. she told a story that readers love. it's flowed so well her characters are sweet and flawed. just the way a romance reader lives them. what started off as a huge lie turned into one epic romance. while I wanted to pummel fletch myself one person gets him good! at times this family drama kept me reading for more. it's like I was in a movie drama. and you just kept waiting for that third act break up. but said act third act break up was done extremely well with others getting their just deserts. so if you love romance this is a great read. I am going backwards in that library of this author because she's just this good
3.5⭐️ Book 4 in the Coast to Coast series focuses on Owen Kelly. The Kelly siblings may have met their match with the Brooks siblings in Coastal Lies. They may be just as hilarious with their sibling banter and I would love to see them all together.
Owen Kelly crosses paths with his first crush, Charlotte Brooks and finds himself in a fake engagement to help a friend out. One thing turns into another a true feelings take over. You can feel the chemistry between them and even though misunderstanding Is not one of my favorite tropes, it’s done right in their love story. Great quick read with a little touch of cowboy!
Thank You to the author for this free digital read in exchange for my honest review of Coastal Lies. This is the fourth book in the Coast to Coast series and I can't wait to read the other book in the series. In this cowboy romance we follow Charlotte as she ends up returning home for a summer escape and to get over a breakup. We also have Owen who is all about work. Will these two find love? The author wrote this well and I enjoyed every character in this. The setting for this one was great which was a Montana ranch. I could not stop turning the pages while reading this one. I highly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any reader who likes romance books.
The Kelly boys are back at and it's Owen's turn to take a shot at love or just jump right into a fake engagement.
Owen is a city boy helping run a tech company, while Charlotte/Lottie is working in LA as well but her real home and aspirations are back at the family ranch. This is very much a country girl - meets - city boy romance set up. Charlette has been dating the same boring guy for years now and was just trying to find a way out and when she finally does, he makes his way back into her life and social circle. But along comes Owen Kelly who helps her escape, or so she thinks, her ex once again. He's now her instant fiancé and the two of them go along with it attending family and friends events together in a guise of being engaged.
🌾Western/Ranch Theme 🏠 Small town romance 💍 Fake engagement
Kat knows how to write such relatable characters and this one is no exception. This is a perfect, cozy up and finish in a day type of read.
I’ve gone from reading 0 Kathryn Coin books to now reading two and devouring them. I think I have found another automatic purchase author. The way her stories develop and the way she writes relationships has you feeling like she’s in your head. Her characters are flawed and not always confident or perfect and I love that. It makes everything more complex and realistic. This book was wonderful. I know it’s book 4 but now I have to go back and read the others.
I received this book as an arc and am leaving my honest review.
Absolutely counting my blessings that I’m on Kathryn Coin’s ARC reader list 🩷 this book had me hooked beginning until end and I loved every second of it. I’m a country girl at heart, so reading Owen and Charlotte’s story out in Montana on the ranch made my heart swell. They had such a cute love story.
I will say, I got a little frustrated with Charlotte towards the end 🤣 I was team Owen through all the conflict, but honestly who wouldn’t be after reading it?! Highly recommend for anyone who loves an easy romance. I will be checking out the rest of the Coast to Coast series now!!!
Thanks again to Kat and her team for sending me this ARC!
5 ⭐️ read once again!!!
To be fair, I do love a country romance and this delivered! I love Owen and Charlotte together so much!
It was very much giving long lost friends to lovers with a bit of drama and spice! The banter 10/10, the romance 10/10, Owen the cowboy?! 10/10. I couldn’t put this book down!!
I think it may be my favourite Kelly family book (sorry Nolan and Maggie)
I love Kathryn Coin’s writing. She’s so good at making you fall in love with the characters and really feel all the feelings.
I absolutely love a good fake relationship and this was so good! Owen is so perfect and Charlotte is funny and wild in her element. The siblings on both sides are also amazing. I love the fact that Owen is the only one to call her by her name and I love all of the things he does to take care of her and stand up for her.
At this point I’m obsessed with anything Kathryn writes!!!
One month. One trip. One lie that changes everything. When the two old camp friends reconnect, they conceive a wild plan: pretend to be engaged.
Charlotte and Owen Kelly are perfect together! They bring out the best in each other and each other’s families! I can’t wait to see what comes in the next book…
Owen and Charlotte were so great together. I absolutely loved this country romance. It was so well written, the characters were so easy to relate to. Just beautiful all the way around. Loved the banter and the romance has just the right amount of spice. I feel so lucky to be able to read this as an arc. Thank you so much for that opportunity.
kathryn did it again! i started reading the series with book 3, and am now going back to read the first 2! owen and lottie’s love story could be predictable at times, but the book took some twists i didn’t see coming!
Cowboy romance in the mountains of Montana? Sign me up!
This book has me wanting to read the previous books in the series. A great romance for anyone who loves fake engagements, forced proximity, and cowboys.
*Thank you to the author for a digital ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.*
Another 5 star read by Kathryn Coin! I couldn’t eat this book up fast enough, I’m absolutely obsessed with Owen and Charlotte! This book is the perfect small town, fake dating, free feeling, sappy vibe. I can’t wait to keep reading Kathryn’s work!
I am a sucker for a fake engagement or wedding. This book had me longing for the Montana nights.
Owen and Charlotte are the ultimate goal in hallmark romances. I loved reading about both characters becoming who they were meant to be when their families were directing them to be something else. The Kelly family is your Sunday dinner, count on them always, meddling family. The Brooks family is wild, betting on anything, sticking up for you family.
The only thing I wished this book had was a party where all of the siblings got together. I couldn't even begin to imagine the kind of chaos that would take place.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Oh Owen! I loved reading his story. The Brooks family also made me fall in love with them. I need a Paige and Cash story and all three brothers!! This was a great book. The only thing I didn’t like was that the Kelly family wasn’t as involved as I was hoping. I love the group chats and the banter back and forth, and I just feel like once the story left CA part of that was left behind. Don’t get me wrong, the Brooks family definitely helped make up for that, but I am a sucker for the whole Kelly family and wanted a bit more from them. Especially Ryleigh since she’s Owen’s twin. I really wanted to see more of their dynamic like you see Nolan and Keegan’s relationship throughout the series. But it was a great 4th book! I know Aiden is next and I can’t wait for him, but I am just holding out for Ryleigh’s story!!!! I’m going to be so sad when we finally have to say goodbye to the Kelly family. It’s been a journey that I love!! Thank you to the author for another great arc read.
