2024 also became the year AK entered the sports romance world. Staying true to her goals of portraying strong women, her debut sports romance novel, Double Play, is both a baseball AND softball romance. It's the first in the Extra Innings series, which is now complete with four full-length novels and a prequel novella.
In 2025, AK is looking forward to diving into the world of women's basketball and men's football. The first book in the Fourth Quarter Fever series will be Home Town Advantage, coming on September 4, 2025.

Before getting into the review, here are the highlights:

Now onto the reasoning why:
Have you ever found yourself barely into a book and it gives you goosebumps? You realize that there's something "more" going on here? You come to the realization that this author who wrote this story, an author - perhaps - that you have read absolutely everything from, has created something special? That's what this book did for me. Because this book, "Competitive Advantage", is so incredibly special! I don't know what AK Landow put in the water with this one because hot-dayum!! Wow.
To back myself up for just one second and for the sake of full disclosure, I have literally read every single one of AK's books. And just like every other reader, I have my preferred tropes, I also have my AK Landow preferences for the MMCs that have melted me more than other MMCs while I've adored some FMCs more than others - that's just how it is. Yet, every single one of AK's stories has moved me so deeply in its own way - she has made me laugh so loud while also making me down-right ugly cry, and she's crushed my heart while also made me yell and curse her out. AK has this innate ability to turn a story that is supposed to be funny and sexy - and at times down-right inappropriate - to be so much more. AK in every single book has a FMCs that is to be admired and respected for her strength of character, beauty inside and out. This isn't a "girl power" thing, but more of a showcasing of the strength that we all possess. And despite the characters' challenges in every single of her stories, the way that AK threads the needle... it is the biggest thing that I love about her writing and stories.
Now, I say all that so I can talk about Kennedy and Daylen and "Competitive Advantage".
For those who read the first book in this series, you saw the absolutely hate that Kennedy and Daylen share for each other and to say that it had our interests piqued would be an understatement! So when I finally got my grimy little hands on this, can I just tell you how quickly I devoured this book? But at the same time, I didn't want to read it fast because right away it made me feel... so much and I didn't want it to end. I can't even pinpoint what it is, but from early on in this story, it made those little hairs on your body rise while it gave me goosebumps and butterfly flutters. I wish I could pinpoint what it was and tell you, but I can't. What I can tell you is that maybe a third of the way through reading this I had to DM AK herself and share my thoughts with her... and those DM's didn't stop while I kept reading. Because this book? This is AK Landow's best book to date!
I don't even know what AK did here but all I can say is, and let me say it one more time, this book is so incredibly special.
The woman (AK) said she couldn't write enemies to lovers or a downright witchy FMCs, but, well... this book blows that right out of the water because what she's done with Kennedy is nothing short of amazing. And to pair her with this lighthearted, golden retriever-vibing MMC while he's still got his own stuff going on... yeah, we've all read the black cat X golden retriever trope, but that doesn't even begin to do this book justice. AK has elevated that so far that this book is simply in its own class and in another stratosphere.
So for anyone who's been here before, reading my reviews, y'all know that I don't specifically discuss the book or its story. I don't believe in ruining the experience for any reader because IMHO a book should be experienced. With that said, this is a book that you simply MUST read. If you've read AK before, you know the woman is f&%$ing hysterically funny yet so deep and sensual while also being so raunchy - all at the same time! So you kind of know what to expect from her... yet in true AK fashion, you never truly know what to expect. And if you're new to AK? Girlfriend (or boyfriend), you should so totally drop everything in your life right now and read this book. Prepare to get your socks and panties blown off while you sob into a box of tissues one minute and then grab your stomach from laughing the next. Should I go into how she'll also turn you on? Get a fan and some ice water too, you'll need it.. or maybe have your spouse on stand-by. Idk, just a suggestion.
If you want to know what this book is specifically about, you can read the description or some of the other reviews but to sum this all up, IMHO, here's all you need to know: get this book and read it right now. You are going to be on a rollercoaster of emotions and feel everything so deeply that you just won't be the same after you finish. And once you finish this book? You're going to be so sad. You don't want to leave this world or Kennedy and Daylen. It happened to me. Their back and forth, both the good and bad, is just the stuff of magic. AK's words are magic in how they crafted this story for our enjoyment. And I'm going to end by saying it one more time: this book is special! I'll also add, and this came as a shock to AK when I told her, but this is my favorite book of hers and it is one of the BEST books that I read in 2025 (I read it in 2025 because I got an early copy). Hand to God, one of my most favorite reads of the year. And now I cannot wait to see what AK does with the next story! I'm ready... so ready!

As a beta reader, I had the absolute pleasure of reading Competitive Advantage early, and let me just say, I was hooked from the opening tip off.
AK Landow delivers a story that plays hard, hits fast, and scores big on every level.
Kennedy and Daylen’s enemies to lovers dynamic is top-tier. Their banter is sharp, competitive, and perfectly matched…like two elite athletes trading shots at the buzzer. The Vegas marriage twist? A bold play that pays off beautifully. Watching red flags slowly get benched and replaced with hard earned green ones was incredibly satisfying.
Kennedy is a powerhouse FMC. She is confident, tough, and unapologetically herself, while Daylen brings golden retriever energy with just enough depth to prove he’s more than a flashy highlight reel. Together, their chemistry is electric, their emotional growth feels authentic, and their relationship arc sticks the landing.

Wow!!! There are some stories that leave a lasting impression not because you expect them to, but because they completely catch you off guard. Competitive Advantage was one of those stories for me.
Going in, I expected a classic sports romance: two main characters who genuinely despise each other. No tension filled longing, no secret softness, just pure, unapologetic dislike. The kind where every interaction turns into a verbal sparring match because “I don’t like you, you don’t like me, and that’s that.” And yes, the book absolutely delivered on that… but it also gave me so much more than I ever anticipated.
Set against the backdrop of basketball and football, Competitive Advantage digs deeper than competition and rivalry. It explores understanding as to why people react the way they do, how patience and empathy can change someone, and how growth doesn’t mean losing yourself in the process. It shows how two people can challenge each other, push each other forward, and still protect their own peace while becoming better together.
Sports stories often highlight teamwork and camaraderie, and while that’s present here, what truly stood out to me was how individual friendships were portrayed. The way these characters stand beside one another, lift each other up, and support each other without tearing anyone down resonated with me on such a personal level.
Well that's Daylen and Kennedy, oh my God. I honestly don’t even have the words. I adored them as individuals. Their fierce loyalty to their teammates and friends, their passion for their sports, and their relentless competitiveness made them shine on their own. But together!! They’re pure oil and water. Constant friction. Constant resistance. You genuinely wonder how two people who clash so hard could ever coexist… until one night in Las Vegas changes everything.
From a secret marriage to a secret pregnancy, from red flags to unexpected growth, Competitive Advantage completely shifted my perspective on so many things. It didn’t just tell a story, it gave me a new way of looking at relationships, maturity, and emotional accountability.
Daylen is, without question, the biggest green flag you’ll ever meet. Kennedy is the ultimate black cat FMC strong, complex, and unforgettable. Their hatred for each other is intense and real, which makes their transformation all the more powerful. When the shift happens, it truly becomes a whole new ball game. The level of maturity woven into this story left me in absolute awe.

This enemies to lovers, reverse grumpy sunshine is top tier. The banter was bantering! Daylen is such an amazing funny cinnamon roll of a man! Kennedy is the biggest grumpy mean girl there is. Not going to lie I was not a fan of Kennedy in Home Town Advantage. She was my least favorite character. But boy did she turn that around in her book. I absolutely fell in love with her as much as Daylen did. If you want an amazing enemies to lover sports story this is it! Absolutely loved this book!

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where, for the first 30–40%, I despised a character as deeply as I did Kennedy. Her attitude toward everyone around her—especially Daylen—is teeth-grindingly infuriating. She is the embodiment of “hate at first sight,” loathing everyone with an almost impressive intensity. And that list of red flags? Pure, unfiltered irritation.
But we all know that when AK writes a character and shapes them with a certain personality and set of flaws, there is always a reason behind it—and Kennedy is no exception. Her evolution, her transformation, and her eventual acceptance are what make her such a magnificent character, and what makes AK an author in a league of her own. Personal Thoughts 🤔: I’m not going to lie, Kennedy was an FMC that I absolutely hated at the beginning of the book. But I love A.K.’s writing style and I just knew there had to be something behind Kennedy’s demeanor. Thank goodness I stuck with it because she quickly became one of my favorite FMC’s in this literary world! The banter between these two is top notch and worth the wait!

A thousand times yes!! From the banter & the jokes between characters I was laughing so hard! I swear everytime I read a book from this author I learn something new. I knew Kennedy would be one to keep me on my toes, she plays rough & I mean nobody messes with her friends especially on the court, now what she wasn’t expecting was the walking red flag Daylen to come waltzing in like he owned the place & be everything she didn’t know she needed. Daylen is absolutely hilarious with his banter in the locker room or even out in public, the man has no shame in his game at all. Kennedy may get on his last nerve most of the time especially when she opens her mouth but that doesn’t stop his attraction towards her, so when a night in Vegas ends up with them saying “I Do” that’s when things get very interesting. When I tell you the sexual chemistry is off the charts, they both rock each other’s worlds over & over again! Through all the ups & downs Daylen really made it known he would always been the one to protect Kennedy along with being whatever she needed & more, it definitely tugged on my heart. I loved reading their love story & it was even better that it was out of order because it truly suited them. I will always say I love getting glimpses of the past characters from other books always makes me smile. Overall absolutely fantastic book, I would recommend any books from the author!

If you know me I will religiously talk about how much I love Double Play. I love all of AK Landow’s books but that one WAS my favorite. HOWEVER, Competitive Advantage just took the number one spot. Omg. The way I am 1000% obsessed with this book.
This book is hilarious & heartwarming. Ak Landow knows how to write the best girl tribes. I loved Kennedy in book 1 but I am obsessed with her. Can I wear her jersey because the way she plays on the court has me wishing I could be her. AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, I literally threw my hands up and cheered. Plus the grand gesture, Kennedy is TOP TIER.

Slam Dunk for Landow on this one.
This book! I’m in love. It has it all. You will laugh, it will pull at your heartstrings, it’s sassy, spicy and full of banter. The tropes alone should make out want to read this.
Kennedy and Daylen’s story will make you feel like you are watching a game and their love story is the three point shot that goes off at the buzzer. Or, more like the winning score in a football game where it comes down to the last play!
2 professional athletes in their own right. Both competitive, both willing to go for it all when it comes to friends and teammates. One thing is for sure, they are oil and water. Cue the enemies to lovers vibe. The tension, push and pull was so well written.
Kennedy is strong, independent female (Kudos to AK for always writing strong women) but so vulnerable at the same time. I love the relationship she forms with her brother and works on the relationship with her father. She was rough around the edges at the beginning of the book but then there was growth. She lets her walls down and Daylen was the perfect person to help her with that. He’s tough on the exterior, but deep down he’s loyal, understanding, loving and full of compassion. He’s like a mix of an alpha golden retriever. 😂😂
I loved the found family aspect, the camaraderie, the Yo Momma jokes,and catching up with the rest of the crew! Great read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Kennedy and Daylen start off as oil and water. Two polar opposites who cannot stand to be around each other. The physical isn’t the problem it’s everything else that comes with it. He’s a walking red flag in her book and she’s a spiteful witch but gorgeous. Friends joke they need to just get together which they both swear won’t ever happen until a drunk night in Vegas and tattoos on their ring fingers the next day. When they try to get their mistake annulled the judge has other plans for them. With no other choice they start going through the motions of the judges demands but find that who they thought they were at first changes as they get to know each other. Enemies turns to tolerable turns to friends turns to… more?? Add in a few unexpected surprises and their relationship continues to become more complex. With so much on the line they worry about taking their relationship public and what will happen but keeping secrets never lasts. Their bickering turned banter is off the charts and their chemistry once they let go is explosive. Loved their dynamic and their journey. Congratulations AK Landow!

Review: I couldn’t stop laughing out loud and kicking my feet while reading this book! Daylen and Kennedy were hysterical! Their banter with each other was so good and their spice was top tier! There was a moment that happened between these two that took me by surprise and I LOVED IT! Daylen is such a goofball and loves to make everyone around him happy. His favorite pastime was pushing Kennedy’s buttons because he loved to go back and forth with her. Kennedy struggled her whole life to feel important to anyone and then in walked the man who she couldn’t stand and was a walking Red Flag…or was he?! Kennedy really comes into her own and with each chapter you could feel her walls coming down. She still had her spunk but she was becoming softer. Loved seeing her rebuild relationships and discover her own strength in situations.

I don’t think I can write a good enough review to describe how freaking amazing this book is 😍 the humour in all AK Landows books is seriously unmatched, nothing could ever compare❗️The one liners, the jokes and the witty snark is so damn hilarious. I’m just so frrreakin obsessed 😏
Kennedy the broody rough basketball player. Keeps her guard up and disguises her trauma in humour with a side of distain. Just got traded to the worst place imaginable and will now have to be in contact with her family, whom she despises.
Daylen is the happy and charismatic football player. Full of witt and has the best sense of humour.
These 2 end up despising each other. Maybe crossing into a little hatred. Then one hilarious drunk night in Vegas together and their relationship takes on a whole new meaning. The forced marriage, the surprise pregnancy, the mixed emotions and the trauma coming to the surface this book will wrap around your heart and never let go!

I think Kennedy and Daylen might be my favorite book from A. K. Landow! I was hooked from the first page - sports, extreme hate to lovers, Vegas wedding, and some other surprises along the way. Kennedy is a basketball player and starting over in Philadelphia on the expansion team and we’ve met Kennedy before. She is no holds bar, says how she feels with no remorse and all about ball. Then we have Daylen, football star, goes to his own rhythm and has all the jokes in the world. The moment these two meet through their friends it’s automatic hate and red flags flying. Though these two have banter and jokes nonstop, they soon realize their friends will have them always around each other, so why not try to be somewhat peaceful. Except for a wild night in Vegas and life not being easy, these two are married and forced to spend time together. And the banter only gets more insane between them, but the more time spent together they start to see the other in a different light and starts to change things. The more they seen each other the chemistry explodes and they help one another grow and possibly try at their marriage! I loved these two and journey they take us on. It is one wild and emotional adventure that will have you devouring this book!s

This book is the definition of the fine line between love and hate. Kennedy and Daylen have amazing chemistry but have very similar personalities that cause them to but heads a lot before they are forced to be together. One drunken night in Vegas leads to an Elvis chapel and a judge that won’t let what happened in Vegas stay in Vegas! This is a great book which is technically a standalone however I would recommend reading the 1st one in this series. I love the cameos from the other characters we’ve seen from AK before too!
Honestly once I started this book I had a hard time putting it down! It was a great hilarious read full of witty banter, yo mama jokes galore and amazing friendships! You won’t regret grabbing this one!

AK Landow's book truly never disappoint and this one is no different...Honestly Daylen and Kennedy just became my new favorite couple written by her.
Daylen and Kennedy's banter is top notch...The genuine dislike of each other turning to the all consuming love they have for each other by the end made this story hit so much harder. I loved Daylen and Kennedy's antics from the prior book in this series, and could literally not wait to see how their enemies to lovers to friends story played out.
Definitely read this book if you love found family, a team of fierce women who fully support each other, a team of men who always have each others' backs, a FMC with mommy issues, a MMC who wants to find what his parents had, and ALL the laughs.
This book was all I could have asked for and more.

Oh man, where do I start? This book has everything. Every little thing. I laughed (a lot), I cried, I blushed (a lot). AK can do no wrong.
I love the world sharing and found family aspect of AK’s books. Every release is like spending time with an old friend who you always laugh with. All the books together would make a great TV series.
This book was just so special. The characters, despite being goofballs, were deep and flawed. Together they worked so beautifully. I can’t say enough good things. Bravo!

another exceptional book from AK Landow. These two characters have so much tension you just know the passion is going to be straight fire. the heat is next level and the swoon is out of this world. Daylen has this desire to make everyone laugh and be happy but I think Kennedy is his perfect opposite where she loves to rile people up and isn't close to anyone. they had great depth and growth. 10/10 for this story with great banter, humor, heat, and so much swoon.

I loved this book so much. I loved Daylen and Kennedy. I loved the animosity between them at first 😂
His jokes and her return comments were hilarious.
Kennedy definitely had a bad attitude in the beginning when drafted to the Philly team. I loved what Reagan said to her.
I loved when Daylen encouraged Kennedy to hit on Champ, she didn't know he was gay. 😂
The prank Kennedy pulled on Daylen 😂😂
I loved his dad and family, and the "wtf" thing with Ashleigh, and the yo mama jokes with his dad. I loved how he spoiled and loved his dog BJ too. I loved that he rescued her from the bar and from being roofied.
Their Vegas chapel wedding was funny, and their tattoos afterwards.
The story behind Kennedy's vibrator 😂
I loved what she did to Diane on behalf of Sulley, she definitely had that coming for what she tried to do to Sulley. I hope it hurt 😂
I loved all the "my wife" moments from Daylen. I loved that he bought her stuff she liked to keep at his house. I loved their second wedding and their vows to each other.

Another brilliant book from AK! This is her best work by far. If you want a true enemies to lovers done in the best way possible then pick this one up. Kennedy and Daylen will have you cracking up but also have you in such an emotional state at the same time. These two love to hate each other, love to rile each other up and it’s absolutely hilarious. Hands down my favorite book of the year so far.

I have laughed, I have cried, I have had every emotion reading this book. Kennedy and Daylen are absolutely hilarious, the jokes, the banter everything about this was pure perfection. Great spicy scenes and an honourable mention to BJ the dog. If you’re in the market for enemies to lovers, found family and a drunken wedding in vegas this book is for you!!

This was RaunchCom at its finest! I absolutely loved Kennedy and Daylen. Their hate to love relationship was so fun to watch development and their banter was off the charts hilarious. They were a perfect match especially when Kennedy let her guard down and realized Daylen may be exactly what she needed.

This is one of my favorite books so far I this series. Beau’s Boner Shake if that doesn’t get you laughing I don’t know what will. I loved the story between Kennedy and Daylen the line between love and hate is so thin it’s almost invisible! This book is so smutty but will having your cracking up. I love AK Landow you are a one of a kind author! Thank you for this amazing ARC!
