A secret journal. A dangerous trek. A second chance that could cost them everything.

Creed didn’t expect to arrive at the homestead this broken. His time in the military is over, but the nightmares aren’t—and watching his best friends find love only makes his isolation harder to ignore. Just as he starts settling into civilian life, his childhood friend Kayden calls with an invitation to go off into the wilds of the mountain terrain for a few days.
Creed agrees, even if something about the timing feels... off.

Kayden’s no seasoned outdoorsman, but he’ll take his chances in the wilderness if it means time alone with Creed. He’s never told his best friend he’s gay—or that he’s been in love with him for years. But when danger strikes on the trail and hidden feelings come to light, their friendship ignites into something neither of them saw coming.
Then everything goes wrong.

Kidnapped. Forced to cooperate with a ruthless enemy who wants the secrets buried deep within an old journal. With innocent lives on the line, escape is the only option—but even freedom comes with a price.

As Creed and Kayden fight to survive and protect the vulnerable in their care, a deeper mystery unravels around them—one that threatens to upend everything they thought they knew about the mountain... and themselves.

Will their bond survive the secrets, the danger, and the past that refuses to stay buried?
Or will the fight to stay alive cost them their second chance at something real?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Evie Riley has done it again—Creed is a breathtaking mix of raw emotion, high-stakes survival, and the kind of slow-burn romance that explodes when you least expect it.

Creed’s struggle with his past and his search for belonging hit me right in the heart. His journey out of the military, into a quieter life, is anything but simple—especially when Kayden enters the picture. Kayden’s secret longing, his vulnerability, and his quiet strength create such a powerful contrast to Creed’s guarded, battle-hardened edges. Together, their chemistry is undeniable—equal parts tender and fiery.

The wilderness setting adds an incredible backdrop of both beauty and danger. What starts as a trek through the mountains quickly spirals into a fight for survival, with twists that kept me glued to the page. The kidnapping and journal subplot added layers of suspense that raised the stakes beyond just romance—it’s about trust, sacrifice, and fighting for the people you love.

What I loved most was how the story balanced intensity with intimacy. Even in the darkest moments, Creed and Kayden’s connection shines through. It’s more than just passion—it’s healing, it’s hope, and it’s the second chance they both desperately needed.

If you’ve read books 1 and 2, you must pick this one up. It ties into the bigger story beautifully, deepens the series’ world, and delivers a romance that’s both soul-stirring and pulse-pounding.

Creed is everything I want in an MM mountain man romance: grit, danger, heartache, and love that refuses to be extinguished.

This is the third book in the series called mountain men and I’ve got to say I’ve enjoyed all three books but this one I think is my favourite. There is something about Creed that I really enjoyed. He’s very matter of fact sometimes rude not meaning to be but just very straightforward so when his best friend Kayden comes to visit These two go off camping. And the thing is Kayden didn’t realise that creed was gay is gay but while they are out camping things come to light. Kayden has to ask the question. Kayden haz had feelings for creed for a long time. He just can’t keep everything in and it opens a new world for Kayden and Creed. I liked Kayden there was something extremely likeable about him and he is perfect for Creed but of course this is the third book in the series and we’re still trying to come to groups with The coffin that was found on Creed’s land which he shares with his best friends.
But all I will say is the people that are trying to find what was taken from the cult, are still after answers and they think that Creed could help.

I’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed the passion creed is super adorable. You’ll find out something very private about him and I’m so glad he had Kayden by his side. Now there is a twist it’s not a small twist it is huge and one I didn’t figure out so Evie Riley very good story plot I like being surprised. A brilliant read that I couldn’t put down.

This third installment in the Mountain Men series is hands-down my favorite so far. Evie Riley delivers another emotionally rich, suspenseful, and deeply romantic story—this time centered on Creed, the blunt, no-nonsense mountain man whose quiet strength hides a tender heart. When Kayden, Creed’s longtime best friend, comes to visit and the two head off on a camping trip, the emotional stakes rise. Kayden never knew Creed was gay, and the wilderness becomes the backdrop for revelations, vulnerability, and a long-overdue confession. Kayden’s feelings—buried for years—finally surface, and what follows is a beautiful, raw exploration of love, identity, and trust. Kayden is incredibly likable, and the way he complements Creed makes their connection feel both inevitable and electric. Beyond the romance, the mystery thread continues to build. The coffin found on Creed’s shared land still casts a shadow, and the cult’s missing artifact keeps the tension simmering. The people searching for answers believe Creed holds a key, and that subplot adds a layer of intrigue that balances the emotional depth of the story.
And then—that twist. It’s massive, unexpected, and brilliantly executed. I didn’t see it coming. Creed’s private revelation adds even more dimension to his character, and I was so glad he had Kayden by his side through it all.

Evie Riley clearly refuses to let my heart rest—and Creed is proof. This book is a storm wrapped in a slow-burn spark: rugged survival, tangled pasts, and a romance that sneaks up on you until you’re absolutely undone.

Creed himself is a delicious contradiction: all battle-hardened edges on the outside, and yet as tender as a bulldog pup finding his first patch of sunshine. His attempt at a quiet life is beautifully complicated by Kayden, who steps back into his orbit carrying equal parts longing, scars, and irresistible quiet strength. Together, they’re magnetic—fiery when they clash, luminous when they heal.

The mountain setting is no mere backdrop; it’s practically a character—wild, merciless, breathtaking. Between the trek, the journal, and a kidnapping that turns the tension up to eleven, Riley keeps you gasping for air in all the best ways. And just when you think you’ve reached emotional safety? Cue the jaw-dropping finale.

But what truly elevates this book is its balance—intensity woven seamlessly with intimacy. Creed and Kayden don’t just fall in love; they claw their way toward hope, trust, and a second chance that feels both hard-earned and inevitable.

If you’ve been following the series, Creed doesn’t just continue the saga—it deepens it. If you haven’t, consider this your sign to start. Because this is the kind of MM mountain man romance that leaves you both scorched and softened in equal measure.

This is the third and final book in the Rock Hard Mountain Men series. Creed has retired from the military and has joined his friends Magnus and Brody at the land that they purchased. It is difficult for him to adjust to being a civilian now. It is harder for him to see his good friends find their special someone. He has no idea what to do with his life now. Good thing his childhood best friend has some ideas. Kayden is a travel writer and he has been in love with Creed since he was fifteen years old. He recruits Creed to be his guide exploring locally for his next article. Knowing that he has one chance for happiness, Kayden jumps in with both feet. What they both didn't expect is the enemy from the previous books to kidnap them. What was supposed to be an enjoyable hike has turned into a fight for survival. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. I enjoyed watching how well the two of them worked together to try and return home. Of course, Magnus and Brody show up to help their friends. An enjoyable ending to the mystery follows. I look forward to more books by this author.

This has been an entertaining series combining romance, a century old mystery, cults, kidnappings, hidden tunnels, a century old corpse, three long dead women, a key, a locket and a journal, and enough connections to hint they may not just be coincidences. The mystery of the items is finally solved, and so is what was “stolen” from the cult, as Creed and his childhood friend and current partner, Kayden, are the targets of the cult this time. I found unexpected answers to why all three former soldiers were targeted in their idyllic mountain setting, and was very satisfied with the conclusion and where Brody, Magnus and Creed, along with their partners, are settled into their mountain home.
Interesting and engaging characters, finding love interests for each one, action and adventure to go with the mystery, and a tale that unwinds seamlessly from one book to the next culminates in a series I think any reader would enjoy. There is something for everyone, well worth the read.

Secrets always come to light! Creed, is a Vet struggling with returning to civilian life. He's suffering from PTSD striggles to fit in because his friends are finding their persons. His childhood friend, Kayden who has been secretly in love with Creed, decides a camping trip will open a few doors to discussing feelings. A lot of questions are answered as the three friends' friendship reforms into 3 couples while their adventures continue. The author does a good job, letting us see how the first two couples are adjusting and how Creed and Kayden try to manage their expectations and fit in during their adventure. Nicely done. Sad to see the end of this trilogy, a couple of unanswered questions, but still fun. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book. This story was a fast-paced exciting romance with danger, suspense, and action and I was completely hooked. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Creed and Kayden, and Kayden's secret feelings for his friend, and what emotions that brings out in Creed. I thought their love story was beautiful in spite of the danger these two were in and fighting for their lives. Though I found the puzzle-solving aspect fun. This series has been great from the start- each new book racking up the anticipation. Now we finally get answers and everything is revealed. A great conclusion to this trilogy. And of course I loved looking into the previous couples. 5 stars

On his return Creed stays with his friends but gets a call from an old school friend.
Since his return home Creed is staying with his friend who he served with. He is finding it hard to adjust to being out of the military having nightmares and sleeping little. He tries having a drink but in the early hours his phone rings and he is surprised to hear his old school friend Kayden who travels the world writing about where he has been. When he hears Creed is home and has no idea of what to do for a job he suggests he act as guide for him in a trip through the mountains around the area where he is living.

Now that Creed has retired from the military he joins his friends Magnus and Brody at the land they purchased but he has time on his hands with no future plans. His lifelong friend Kayden asks him to guide him through the mountains when they are kidnapped. Kayden has loved him forever and Creed slowly realizes he wants him too. It was intriguing to have the big, strong military guy be so inexperienced. It was a good conclusion to the trilogy of the semi mystical series. I received a copy of this through BookSprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

Great ending to the series

Creed is finally retired and ready to just relax.
His long-time friend Kayden needs his help, so he naturally offers himself.
What he doesn't know is that Kayden has secretly been in love with him for years.
It was really sweet to see Creed as a big, strong, military man be inexperienced and slowly realizing he feels the same about Kayden
There is some action and danger as the mysteryis finallyresolved.

Brody, Magnus and Creed served together in the military. They decided to purchase land and build their homes there. Creed was the last to retire and arrive on the property. Well he was in the military strange incidents have been happening. There is a mystery surrounding the mountains and its inhabitants. When Creed is guiding a friend on a camping trip they get kidnapped and imprisoned. This story is full of mystery, drama and love while solving a mystery over 100 years old.

This is the third book in this series. This is Creed and Kayden's story. I loved this book. I thought the characters were well developed and the storyline was well written. These two men are hot and steamy together. They fit in each other's lives, since they were friends first they know each other well.

This book is romantic, suspenseful, and a page turner. The main characters are friends but one has been in love with the other and the other not realizing it. They go on a camping trip and end up getting kidnapped and both end up more than friends. I really enjoyed this book.
