Maggie Watson casts a wide net for the truth when a friend’s beau is framed for a schooner captain’s murder.

Summer breezes along the Maine coast have blown the Schooner Days Celebration into Somerset Harbor, and Maggie Watson’s friend Fran is welcoming her pals from teenage sailing camp, now schooner captains, to town. But everyone's celebratory mood is given the old heave-ho when ship captain and all-around scoundrel Derek Jacobs is poisoned by a rare clam toxin and Fran's new beau, Ruben, is arrested for the crime.

While Maggie and her friends in the historical society work to turn the tide in Ruben’s favor, handsome town alderman James Bennett has asked for Maggie's help on a bona fide treasure hunt. Unfortunately, the quest takes a potentially deadly turn as it becomes clear someone else is bound and determined to claim the hidden riches at any cost. Can Maggie navigate these rough seas, or will she be overwhelmed by the swell of decades-old grudges and fresh wounds threatening to take her down with the ship?

This clever whodunit from Annie’s Antique Shop Mysteries series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, antiques, New England, and female friendships.

When an elderly eccentric leaves his fortune to the town--if they can find it--Maggie joins friends James, Ina, and Clem in the hunt--but someone seems willing to kill to find the trove first. Meanwhile, a man dies during the town's Schooner Days and the boyfriend of one of Maggie's friends is arrested for the crime.

A cozy mystery.

However, this book is written in a manner that you have: action, dialogue, action, dialogue. With an occasional sprinkle of description. Not a bad book by any means! It just has a few flow issues which can make it a bit difficult to get through. However the plot is fun, and will keep you guessing!

This is a good cozy read about a group of friends that help solve murder cases in their small Maine town. The characters are a group of ladies that run their own businesses and are good friends as well. This is about a boat captain that is poisoned and they want to find the real killer.

Good story. A festival in Somerset Harbor, the biennial Schooner Days celebration, definitely a mystery to happen.

Rigged for Murder (Antique Shop Mysteries #18) by Elizabeth Penney
I was missing this book from the series that I purchased from Marketplace so I ordered it off Amazon Prime in order to finish up the series. It had Maggie, James, and the historical society ladies of Somerset Harbor in the story, plus Maggie got to meet her daughter Emily’s new love interest, Dr Austin, that she met up in Boston where she now works. This storyline revolved around old friends, competitiveness, jealousy, bullying, some underhanded bad stuff such as embezzlement, poison toxins, and subterfuge of who was really in love with whom! I enjoy these lighthearted mysteries in a world full of such heavy sad news.
