A Broken Alpha Heiress' Revenge

Rate this book
Riley was raised in a rogue settlement, orphaned and forgotten—until one day, the prestigious Vale family came to claim her as their long-lost daughter.

She thought she’d finally found a home.

But when she arrived at the Ebonclaw estate, she found another girl already living her life—Scarlett, the adopted daughter they had pampered and praised for years.

Her so-called parents favored the fake.

Her biological brother, Kael, lied in court to send her to prison—just to protect the imposter.

Even her mate stood on the witness stand and turned against her.

To protect Scarlett, they framed Riley for a crime she didn’t commit.

They sent her to prison.

They shattered her body and nearly broke her mind.

For five years, she endured.

For five years, she suffered.

And now—she’s back.

The once-favored daughter hides in shame.

Her brother watches her with guilt in his eyes.

Her parents beg for forgiveness.

But Riley is no longer the naive girl they discarded.

She’s colder. Sharper. Unbreakable.

The family who betrayed her wants her to kneel before their enemies, beg for peace, and sacrifice herself again for their legacy.

But this time, Riley won’t bend.

She’ll burn everything down first.

Ugh!

It started off good, but soon, the sentences started running together with different punctuation marks! What a waste of time!

The concept of this story is incredibly compelling—it had immense potential.

However, as previously mentioned by other readers, the formatting was a major issue. One of the main problems with this “book” is that the conversion from the original format to Kindle was a disaster, and the issues revolved heavily around the punctuation. It’s glaringly obvious this book came from one of those book apps that charges hundreds of dollars, because it never truly ends. It seems like they copy-pasted without even checking that it looked correct before publishing.

Examples include:

"help" becomes ”help“

He's becomes He‘s

This formatting issue occurred roughly 9,402 times across 933 pages.

Additionally, dashes within words were converted incorrectly:

She- became She& mdash;

This happened approximately 2,070 times.

In total, that’s around 11,472 formatting errors in 933 pages, not even counting the numerous grammar mistakes.

The structure itself is frustrating: Chapters often in the middle, jumped back to the beginning and repeated itself for the rest of the chapter. Or the begining of the chapter will be a reworded recap of the last half of the previous chapter. The dialog was sometimes very inconsistant.

There are 933 pages and 253 “chapters,” but the chapters are barely a page or a page and a half of content by normal standards (being generous)

Spoilers below:

There were numerous inconsistencies with character names: Riley’s name is occasionally replaced mid-conversation with a different name.

Riley is imprisoned for five years because her family frames her for a crime her adopted sister committed. The specifics of the crime also change inconsistently—from “leading Tessa into the woods to be attacked by rogue wolves” to “pushing her off something in an attempt to kill her,” and then back to the “rogue wolves” scenario.

The story will suddenly focus heavily on a side character and then go back to the main characters. Just as frustrating, the book ends abruptly—in the middle of a paragraph. There are far too many loose ends. With the ending the way it was, there was no closure:

Does Riley get cured? Does she finally tell Lucien she loves him? Does Scarlett ever die and give Riley back her kidney that she stole? Does Carmen ever accept Duke as her mate?

Since the author’s real name can’t be found anywhere, there’s no way to check if the rest of the book exists or if a sequel is coming.

Despite all these issues, the story had tremendous potential. I cried over Riley’s struggles, heartbreak, and the immense pain she endured. I just want the ending.

Finally, I do not believe Amazon should allow this Kindle “book” to be sold for $9.99, given its formatting disasters, structural problems, and lack any cares given by the person that published it to Kindle.

This book starts with heartbreak, and honestly it just keeps rolling for Riley. You know she is getting her HEA- but a lot of times you wonder if she really will! As with any good story- you know who it will be once they are introduced to the story, but there are still a lot of twists. The story had a lot of editing errors which made it hard to read at times because information was mixed up. But it is still a very good story line. There are a few things that come from left field
And don't make a lot of sense, but I also had some good laughs too. Even though it felt like an emotional roller coaster - a few moments I laughed out loud- Riley wasn't afraid to slap somebody so that was a plus!

Like others have said, punctuation was bad, kind of jumbled together to try and figure out what the sentence is saying. I still enjoyed the storyline and wanted to see where Riley would end up. Unfortunately the story is unfinished, I’ve tried to see if there is another book so I can at least have closure with this book.

It is a good story but I could only give three stars because of the issues with the book. There are so many editing errors! Whole pages of symbols and misspelled words. It is difficult to read in sections because words are missing or contain long strings of gibberish. Places wherever names are incorrect. I’m sorry I paid for the book.

Good story but not complete

I like the story but as others have said it isn't finished. I'm guessing since it's originally a Goodreads story, you have to go on there to see the rest (&pay more money) or the author never finished it - not sure which. Disappointing plus several errors throughout the book.

It started out great but what the hell happened at the end? It’s like they forgot to load the rest of the chapters. It also seemed to turn into a book with a connected but different storyline. This read was very disappointing. Editing errors abound. A waste of my time. If you’re looking for an HEA, don’t bother.

ItS not worth it

Way too many errors in this book! Someone in printing needs to read it to see what I mean! Not worth the ten dollars I paid for it!! First few chapters are good then too many added letters in sentences!

Unfinished book

This is not a complete book!!! Very disappointed. Also half way through each sentence has &with random letters mixed on with words of the story. Hard to read when you have to decipher the words. Good story but flustered

fit it

Was loving the story line but then the typos started and made reading it hard. Please just edit it and remove the typos. It’s not small spelling mistakes that’s annoying it’s the works within words, like something happened when it was being uploaded.

This book was terrible. It was very poorly written. I don’t believe that there was any use of an editor. It was so repetitive, constantly going over the suffering by Riley to cover for Scarlett. I did not finish.

Not a whole book

I bought this book but it is not complete. The story continues, no book two. Good story without an ending.
