How lovely it was to be back in Sandpiper Shores! In Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage: The BRAND NEW gloriously feel-good tale of second chances, the third book in the Sandpiper Shores series, Kim Nash focuses on Michelle and Demetri. One thing that I enjoy about Kim Nash's books is her focus on community, romance, friendship, love, second chances, real life issues, and new beginnings. Her writing is wonderful, and her stories are hopeful, heartwarming, and perfectly plotted. Of course, there will be a few bumps along the way for her characters but overall, her books are like a breath of fresh air.
Michelle thought she had found her happily-ever-after, with Demetri, the Greek Doctor in town. When he informs her that he is returning home to care for his sick mother, Michelle makes the decision to stay on the Cornish Cove. When his brother, Makkis, arrives unexpectedly, she offers him a place to stay...
This is the seventh book I have read written by Kim Nash. I am always delighted when I see she has a new book coming out. I enjoy her charming characters, their wit, insight, and thoughtfulness. I always enjoy spending time with them. I also enjoy her well thought out plots and the journey she takes both me and her characters on.
If you have not read one of Kim Nash's books, you are missing out. They are feel good stories, full of hope, second chances, and new beginnings. I also like that the characters are in my age range which makes their struggles feel more relevant to me.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, and a joy to read.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
- I loved this one. Kim’s books are always so easy to get into. I loved Michelle as a character and there were some powerful moments for her facing her grief. Her friends around her were all strong women and I loved their friendship and care for each other. It had such a beautiful, heartwarming message of love, family and community.
I wasn’t sure when Makkis arrived if I fully trusted him or Demetri to be honest- I’ll let you form your opinion on that one! It did show the reality of what happens to some people though.
I totally immersed myself in the story and thoroughly enjoyed it. The pace, writing style and characters were all on point. Although it’s part of series it works great as a stand alone too. I don’t have enough praise for Kim’s books.
🏡 Small-town romance / 👭 Strong female friendship / 🌊 Idyllic seaside setting / 💔 Second chance at happiness / 🌿 Healing and self-discovery / 🌍 Sandpiper Shore, Cornwall
I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of this blog tour and so excited to share my thoughts on this beautiful book today!
Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage, is the third installment in the Sandpiper Shore series. This story can absolutely be read as a standalone — but honestly? To get the full experience, I highly recommend reading all parts and not missing out on these beautiful stories. The previous two books in the series stole my heart, and this one was no different. With this series, Kim Nash has officially become an auto-buy author for me. I now want her entire backlist on my shelves!
We’re back in the idyllic seaside setting of Sandpiper Shore, this time following Michelle’s journey.
From the very first few pages, I was smiling and giggling. I instantly felt like I was home. Returning to Sandpiper Shore feels like wrapping yourself in your favourite cosy blanket. There’s warmth, humour, and that comforting sense of belonging that only truly special series can create. I loved every minute of it! Michelle’s story truly tugged at my heartstrings. Having lost both of her parents, she already carries deep emotional scars and the fact that her life is full of setbacks and life-changing decisions moved me deeply. Poor thing.
By the time I reached the 30% mark, I simply couldn’t put it down. I had to know how everything would unfold. I suspected Makkis’ motives fairly early on (which made me want to shake Michelle at times for her decisions!), but that only added to my emotional investment. Watching her navigate confusion, grief, hope, and rediscovery felt authentic and relatable.
The friendship between the trio of Jo, Michelle, and Emma is one of my absolute favourite parts of this series. Their banter is witty, supportive, and wonderfully real. Everyone needs friends like them — the kind who show up with cocktails, love, and unconditional support. I also have to add that the farewell scene between Michelle and Demetri at the airport was beautifully written. You could really feel the heartbreak.
Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is a gorgeous blend of life-changing decisions, family ties, friendship, and heartfelt romance. It completely transports you to a dreamy coastal setting and leaves you longing for sea air, meaningful conversations, and moments that nourish your soul.
This series has grown so dear to my heart that I truly hope there will be more visits to Sandpiper Shore in the future — though if this were the final instalment, it would be a beautifully satisfying one. I know the author has a new book coming out in October, and I’m already counting down the days!
I kindly received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much Boldwood Books.
It’s a delight to return to the charming village of Sandpiper Shores, where I reunite with my friends Jo, Emma, and Michelle. This book of the series invites us to explore the complexities of Michelle's life as we uncover more about her past and present circumstances.
At the end of the previous book, Michelle believed she had found her happily-ever-after with Demetri, a dedicated Greek ER doctor whose passion for his work drew her in. Their romance blossomed amid the stunning backdrop of Cornwall, and for a time, everything seemed perfect. However, when Demetri receives news that his mother is seriously ill in Greece, he faces a difficult decision. He invites Michelle to accompany him back to his homeland, presenting her with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Yet, Michelle, deeply rooted in her newfound home and thriving business, hesitantly declines his offer. With heavy hearts, they agree to part ways and cut all communication, each believing this is the best choice for their futures.
Determined to reclaim her independence and continue building her life in Sandpiper Shores, Michelle immerses herself in her business. Just when she begins to find her footing, Demetri’s brother, Makis, unexpectedly shows up at her doorstep. His arrival is a mystery to Michel, and he uses his charming demeanour to stay at Michelle's cottage. This part of the story brought Ref flags to me straight away, but it did add interest to the plot.
As the story unfolds, we see that Michelle is carrying an emotional weight from her past decisions, making her journey all the more compelling. Throughout the story, she grapples with her insecurities and fears of opening her heart again. However, as she navigates these challenges, readers can witness her remarkable growth. Michelle learns to confront her past mistakes and strives to build a more fulfilling, self-sufficient future, even if it means embracing her independence.
The portrayal of the Lonely Hearts Club remains a highlight of the story, filled with good vibes and heartwarming moments that emphasise the bonds of friendship. The sense of community shared among the members is inspiring, and they continually support one another through life’s ups and downs. Michelle's relatable journey makes it easy to root for her as she finds her path, ultimately discovering that sometimes the most significant love story of all is the one we have with ourselves.
Michelle has been living in Sandpiper Shore for a few months now, she loves Cornwall and has made fabulous friends already in Jo and Emma and, more recently has found a man that she believes is the one, but then Demetri her doctor boyfriend, tells her he needs to return home to Greece to look after his sick mother and asks her to go with him but, as she's settled in Cornwall and her business is growing, she reluctantly turns him down and he leaves for Greece. Shortly after his brother, Makis arrives looking for Demetri and Michelle offers to let him stay in her spare room but he constantly reminds her of what she's lost and the things he tells her about his brother makes her think she didn't really know Demetri after all, but she's still torn, should she follow her heart or her head?
This book is the final one in the Sandpiper Shore series and, we return once again to the picturesque Cornish village that has captured our hearts, in this one we hear from Michelle, who has had to deal with a lot of emotional trauma in her life and, just when she thinks everything is falling into place and she can be happy, life throws in another curveball for her which sets her back once again, letting the man she loves slip through her fingers. I really felt for Michelle, I could see the decision she'd made hadn't been taken lightly, but she loved the life she had and the friendship bond she made with Jo and Emma meant the world to her, I think she was seeking stability by staying but they would have been there for her regardless of where in the world she lived and it didn't have to be forever. I absolutely adore the relationship that these three women have built and will be quite sad if we don't encounter them another time in this author's stories. Once again Nash has written a beautifully relatable emotional tale of love, friendships and second chances and, having recently read quite a few dark books, I knew that one of Kim's feel good books was just the palate cleanser I needed to reset. If you haven't yet read the Sandpiper series, I highly recommend.
I'd like to thank Boldwood Books and Netgalley for inviting me to read this, i will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.
Love Blooms at the `Cornish Cottage was an absolute dream of a book, just as I knew it would be. Michelle, lives in the delightful Sandpiper Shore has a strong friendship circle with Jo and Emma. The threesome really are a force to be reckoned with, the sort of friendship we all should have. They give each other support, kindness and honesty - straight talking at times but removed at others, somehow they each know when and what to say, or when to allow space -they really do have each others backs. This novel, Kim’s third in the serious Sandpipere - Cove has Michelle as the central character.
Michelle couldn’t be happier, she thinks she’s settled nicely, all loved up with Demetri her work-aholic Greek doctor, and reticently planning to move to Greece to his family home since his mother had had a stroke. Enter stage right, her sixth sense, ‘Katrina’ and Demetri’s brother Makkis just as Demetri has headed to Greece alone.
The whole book buzzed with static and had an edginess that replicated the inner turmoil Michelle was feeling as things got decidedly messy in her head as Makkis seriously stirs the pot leaving her with more questions than answers that only a trip to Greece can solve.
This made for a lot of inner turmoil that was palpable and evoked many emotions and thoughts as I walked the path with Michelle. Each and every book Kim Nash has written gets better and better, I was totally sucked in and lost a day of my life curled up on the sofa lost in the life of Michelle. I was fully invested in the story, forming my own opinions, silently talking out loud, willing Michelle to see what I was seeing - I absolutely adore the friendship group she has and ‘Cocks on Friday’ is something we should all strive for and as is always the case Kim has not only nailed the characters but also the locations too. She takes us to locations I want to visit and usually scour Right-move so I can move there too. Reading a Kim Nash book could cost you serious money!
I can’t wait for my Next Kim Nash fix this was an absolute dream of a book. This truly was a very touching book and an absolute joy to read.
Love is definitely blooming for Michelle in this third instalment of the Sandpiper Shore series. Having been let down in love and after the grief of loosing both parents Michelle has thrown herself into her business life. After moving to Sandpiper Shore she has found friends and a community that begin to make her feel whole again.
Then there is gorgeous Doctor Demetri. Encouraged by her friends she is ready to commit to a longer term relationship with him when he throws a spanner in the works. He has to move back to Greece to be with his poorly mother and wants Michelle to go to. Michelle is torn by this bombshell on one hand she is in love, she finally has a partner she can trust who she loves and feels safe with on the other she has worked hard to create her thriving business and feels very content and settled into the community and leaving seems like a huge prospect that might ruin everything.
Michelle’s story is quite an exciting one full of surprises as we go through all the emotions with her love, joy, fear, excitement, betrayal, agony, guilt and most importantly grief. Michelle has never really recovered from her losses and as a result has until now pulled away from being close to anyone including her brother who is almost estranged from her and lives in Canada with his family. The results of grief and trauma can last a long time if they aren’t addressed with honesty and understanding. Michelle finds both a new confidant and Mother figure in the new GP, which helps her to see things more clearly. Due to this she feels able to move on and consider positive changes in her life and it was delightful to read about her reconnecting with her brother.
I loved visiting Sandpiper Shore again. Each character’s journey to happiness has been so different but the sense of friendship and community that runs through each of the books gels them together nicely. The characters are also more mature than many main players in romantic novels and it is very refreshing to know that life can begin or continue to flourish when you are over fifty. The lovely ladies of Sandpiper Shore are testament to that.
Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is the third instalment in the Sandpiper Shores series, but although I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series I don’t feel lost. The author introduces just enough of the backstory and the main characters so that the book works perfectly as a standalone novel.
Michelle has finally found the love of her life in Demetri. So when Demetri has to move back to Greece to look after his mother as her health deteriorates, Michelle is torn between staying in Cornwall, in the community that she has only just discovered and nurturing her growing business, or giving it all up to follow her boyfriend and move abroad to an unknown country.
Realising that to protect herself she must follow her head and not her heart, Michelle’s heart is broken as Demetri flies off to support his family, leaving Michelle behind. With her head and heart still in disarray, Michelle makes some poor decisions when Demetri’s brother, Makis, turns up at her door. This is a slightly frustrating facet of the story - Michelle isn’t stupid, she’s a competent and clever businesswoman and yet she is totally hoodwinked without so much as a second thought that the offer that’s being made sounds a little too good to be true. If you were the victim of a scam you’d surely be heading straight to the police and yet at no point does this seem to be an option.
In all honesty Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is entirely predictable - you know what’s going to happen as soon as Makis shows up on Michelle’s doorstep. But sometimes it’s quite comforting to let a story play out just as you expect it to without any shocking twists and turns. All in all this is a lovely, comfortable little read, that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Perfect to read with a cup of tea and a pack of biscuits at your side.
I have been waiting impatiently to read Michelle’s story. In the previous books, it was clear that she was carrying a staggering amount of emotional baggage. Her past was littered with heartbreaking moments, and I felt a real sense of empathy with her determination to protect her heart. In Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage, we are able to take a deep dive into the sources of her pain, and it’s not for the faint-hearted.
As the synopsis explains, Michelle faces the almost impossible decision of either following her gorgeous boyfriend back home to Greece or staying in Sandpiper Shore and embracing her friendships while growing her burgeoning marketing business. My heart went out to her as her internal conflict over the choices felt devastating. However, she makes her decision and sets about living with the consequences.
The arrival of Makkis certainly threw a spanner into Michelle’s grand plans to rebuild her defences, and I was smugly happy to discover that my initial opinion of him was very close to the proverbial mark.
Although this is clearly a story about Michelle’s relationship with Demetri, it also highlights the connections found in true friendships. If Michelle's support network is even slightly based on Kim’s personal experiences, then she’s a very lucky lady. I can certainly endorse the powers of female friendships and would be lost without my girls. It’s these relationships that I sensed to be blooming, and that narrative was powerful.
Kim Nash writes beautiful, relatable stories that are both emotional and uplifting. Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is a perfect addition to the Sandpiper Shore series, and I absolutely loved it.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Opinion
Kim Nash has written a lovely novel. From the opening chapter I was hooked. Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is the third book in the Sandpiper Shores series but it can easily be read as a standalone. A beautiful, heart-warming novel.
Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage is the third book in the Sandpiper Shores series. I've only read this book but will be going back to read books one and two.
I enjoyed meeting Michelle and getting to know her and the rest of the characters from Sandpiper Shores. Michelle's story is complex with twists, turns, and surprises around every corner. I make it sound like an action/adventure but it's not. This book is about love, loss, and second chances. There are aspects that will anger you, get you excited, and encourage you.
Michelle has a lot happen to her in this book. Some events you expect, others surprise you. Her boyfriend, Demetri, poses an impossible choice, one that will completely upend her entire life no matter which selection she makes. Follow Michelle's story as she makes choices that she thinks are best and discovers that not everything is as it seems.
I was engaged in Michelle's story from the very beginning. The author crafted a complex novel with likeable characters, a smooth plot, and a story that's easy to follow, even if you haven't read the previous books. I love the friendship group in the story and am glad that Michelle has such a great group of friends to lean on not just during the tough times but at all times.
This visit to the Cornish Cottages centres around Michelle who we have met in previous books and who forms a third of the friendship group, which comprises Jo, Emma and Michelle. they are a close knit group who support each other and offer each other comfort and security. Michelle, we discover, is a rather guarded personality who has unresolved issues with her brother and a fear of being in a long-term relationship. She is learning to trust Demetri but at the start of the story, their future together comes under extreme strain.
Through the Lonely Hearts Club, you get to meet new characters who live locally and who may feature in future stories. When Demetri ,'s brother turns up, you fear the worst and there are plenty of red flags signposted. Michelle appears almost too trusting but faces some setbacks and tries to move her life forward. It does not all go to plan for her but she is given the chance to mend some bridges from her past. As with all these stories, the women's friendship group creates a warm and wholesome tone and is a reassuring basis.
In short: family, friends and community Thanks to the publisher
three stars - glowing ones - for a very enjoyable escapism book with feel good vibes and warmth, sense of community and strong female friendships. There's also quite a bit of personal growth and breaking behaviour patterns formed by past experiences, in this instance it has to do with letting people in despite s strong fear of losing them, which is what out main character is facing - realizing that she won't lose her boyfriend in the way she usually does; by driving them away before they get the chance to leave her. This is a very typical theme in novels such as this, and I usually get a bit annoyed at "yet another" character with abandonment issues, and so I was pleasantl surprised to enjoy this! There's more to the story than just the abonnement issues and thats probably why it worked so well, as well as the character being likeable and willing to change. There's also a little twist (though quite obvious and predictable), and more going on that keeps the story engaging and moving.forwards.
Amongst the better in this genre and setting: small town/community, mix of friendship, romance and fsmily
‘Love is hard and messy and complicated and there’s a lot of different ways to love someone.’
Michelle is in paradise. She’s got a growing business, she’s surrounded by amazing friends and she’s in that honeymoon period of a relationship with a gorgeous Greek doctor.
But all is not well in the Cornish paradise as Michelle’s beau is returning home to look after his rather ill mother. I was heartbroken for my leading lady. Yes she could have gone with him but would you up sticks across Europe for someone so new? I’m not sure I could if I thought I was leaving the place I’d come to call home.
Half way through I was bawling my eyes out. I can’t say why for spoilers but I was glued to kindle with tears streaming down my face. Michelle was in my heart, I loved her, I identified with parts of her life. She felt so real. I may have cried again when she got a knock on her front door at 73%…
I kept clicking my kindle hoping Michelle would find happiness or even contentment in life. It was a rollercoaster of emotions but I’m not going to say what happens to my leading lady. All I’ll say is Kim Nash smashed this new novel out the park! Loved it even if I did get my kindle wet 😆😆
Another fab book by one of my favourite authors, who I am truly lucky to also call a friend.
Absolutely loved Michelle as a whole package, she had been through so much, she had taken so much on her own shoulders due to different circumstances and she didn't need to shoulder it all. Her friends and family were there, she just didn't feel like she deserved the help.
Michelle is a great character, she's incredibly relatable. There are always things we wished we'd done differently or things we wish we'd never said but just having open conversations with the affected people can make a huge difference and flip the problem so it's dealt with and can be moved on from.
I was absolutely fuming at a certain Greek brother (no spoilers but Its not who you think I mean). You need to read it to know who I mean.
I absolutely loved the relationship Michelle had with her Nieces and the joy of being called Aunty, I know this feeling oh so well. I adore being an aunty.
Romantic, crazy, overthinking (that's a great combination I think), it's basically my personality.
This is one of those books where you want to shoot out to one of the characters, in this instance Michelle. Having moved to Sandpiper Shores where she is now living with her Greek boyfriend and running an independent PR business she is heartbroken when he had to move back to look after his ailing mother. She is surprised when his brother Makkis arrives and stays with her, offering her financial advice and investment opportunities. What really makes this book for me is the setting, I'll always love books set in Cornwall and in particular the community spirit that this village has. You can look sideways Michelle for some of her decisions, but you can put this down to her caring nature. At least she has the support of her friends, who also encourage her to talk to her estranged brother. A nice, gentle, but in places frustrating (but part of the storyline), book to enjoy. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Book 3 in the Sandpiper Shores series although can be read as a standalone for me it was good to be back in the beautiful Cornish village with some of the characters we have met before
Michelle has fallen head over heels with Demetri, for the first time in decades she is fully in love but then she has a massive life changer to contemplate to make….which could change everything, and does!
Enter Makkis, Demetri’s brother and again quite a catch but he has more plans than Michelle realises
In the midst of this a family reunion unexpectedly happens proving life gives good when seems to take away happiness sometimes
From Cornwall to Greece we are with Michelle as she makes tough decisions and see if love really is real
If you know this author’s books you will already know you will love it, full of humour yet heartbreak, joy verses despair and all wrapped up in a big love bow, a good romantic character led read that oozes fuzziness and warmth ( story and weather wise! )
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. 4 stars. This is the second book I’ve read in this series and I enjoyed the first so much I looked forward to returning to Sandpiper Shore. This book can be read as a standalone. The main character in this book is Michelle. She is currently dating hot doctor Demetri. He has to return to Greece to look after his poorly mother and she has decided not to go with him as she has her friends and work in Sandpiper Shore. She is trying to rebuild her life following Demetri’s departure when his brother Makkis arrives on her doorstep and she offers him to stay with her as he’s passing through. He is a constant reminder of Demetri which does not help Michelle’s broken heart. Spending time with Makkis makes her think she didn’t know the real Demetri so she sets off to Greece to surprise him and show him how she feels. A lovely heart-warming, funny, sometimes sad book. Would love to read more in the series.
This is another absolutely gorgeous read in the wonderful Sandpiper Shore Series. The focus this time is centred around Michelle , who is very happy in her romance with the handsome doctor Demetri. Everything is going really well for them but then when he receives some worrying news, he has no choice but to return home to his native Greece. Despite Demetri begging her to come with him, Michelle makes a very tough decision and decides to stay behind. Following Michelle’s story makes for a really great read and I very soon became immersed in the story. Kim Nash has brought this book into my heart with her wonderful characters and her lovely style of writing. Of course the setting of Cornwall makes this such a lovely and relaxing read as well. Reading this book I could literally smell the sea air and visualise the beautiful beach. Another wonderful and feel good book by one of my go to authors of this genre. This is the third and I think the final book in the series but each book can easily be read as a standalone. I cannot wait to hear what Kim has in store for us in her next book.
Michelle lives in a beautiful Cornish location. Her dresciptions lead you to think of her as a kind considerate person a little insecure in herself since her mid life crisis move . She’s dating
Demtri a workaholic A&E doctor
Her friends are supportive they meet every Friday for a girls catch up. The plot builds slowly through Michelle. You get a feel for her personality, likes and dislikes.
Then we meet Makis who is Demetris brother. Similar in looks but not character.
The character development is descriptive and so you can get a good insight into Michelle’s feelings and her friendship groups support. The trials and tribulations of a middle aged women and two brothers. Her fantastic friends as a support network. It has a underlying story that’s sad in parts as it’s interesting. A cosy read with romance tears and laughter.
I love Kim Nash's stories. Filled with more mature women and a lot of second chances, and hope! This third instalment in the series did not disappoint at all. Michelle is the focus of this story, and she is settling into her life in Sandpiper Shores, with a blossoming business, a fantastic friendship with two amazing women, and a fledgling romance that is deepening as the day goes by. Then things happen - they always do. She finds herself without her man, but someone else comes into her life, making her question many things. I won't lie, it is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, especially as I found myself connecting with characters who have come to feel like friends, as they go through hard times, but, as I mentioned before, the story is hope-filled, too, which makes the ending perfect! Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
What a beautiful story of friendship, friends that become family, grief and most of all love.
Family and love comes in all shapes and sizes and none more so than for Michelle and Demetrius
I fully embraced this beautiful story, set between a Cody corner of Cornwall and the sunny climes of Greece
It’s a story of how love has ways of finding you when you least expect it. The complications of family after losing someone and grief. How friends and communities pull together in the most unexpected circumstances.
I really hope there could be a follow on to this, if not the ending was satisfying enough anyway
Kim Nash is a new author to me and as a lover of HEA and cosy romances, I will definitely be checking out her other books
Thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and the author for this great opportunity of an early read
This was my first book in the series so I was intrigued by all the characters and their stories. I have seen women like Michelle fall prey to men like Makis in real life and the entire time I was reading I was just thinking to tell her run far away. She fell so easily for Makis and his tricks, which was so believable because in real life, you don't think to not trust those close to you.
The romance in the book fell a bit flat to me. Her and Dimitri didn't really give me a consuming love where I was rooting for them to get together. And considering her age, I thought Michelle was a bit immature when she just left the Greek island without waiting for Dimitri to explain. Overall it was a nice read.
I loved this! It was so easy to read I got caught up in the beautiful scenery and touching storyline.
Michelle was carrying so much, being strong and trying to believe she was happy, Demetri shows her what love is, but it takes loosing it for her to realise it is worth fighting for.
Learning about Michelle’s past was heartbreaking, as was her reunion with her brother. I loved that they were both brace enough to take that first step to reconcile, it was so touching to read.
Without giving away any spoilers, having Demetri return and explain everything was just the icing on the cake. At this point I was really rooting for them to be able to talk things over.
Such a great all round book, with some amazing messages about love, loss and family, and most importantly, bravery.
I’m really loving this series. Each book feels multilayered and heartwarming, the kind of story that wraps around you when the world feels a bit grim. his one, in particular, gave me a real sense of hope for a better future.. It made me wish I could pack a bag and move to Sandpiper Shores for a while. The characters are lovely and so easy to care about. Their friendships, their struggles, their small joys all feel genuine. The writing flows beautifully and the story is simple to follow without ever feeling shallow. It’s comforting in the best possible way. A perfect read for when you need something uplifting and full of warmth. Recommended. Many thanks for this digital copy, all opinions are mine
This is the 3rd book in the series. I did not read the previous 2 books first, perhaps it would be helpful.
Pros: love anything set in the UK, particularly seaside small towns. The female main character, Michelle, is in her 40's, recently relocated to Sandpiper Shores. She's a small business owner and has made some good friends in the area and is involved in community activities. Michelle is in a relationship with Demetri, a doctor, or at least she is until he has to relocate to Greece to take care of his dying mother.
Cons: At Michelle's age, she seemed rather naive to me. Yes, she was vulnerable when Demetri's brother Makis shows up, but he says all the right things and she not only let him stay in her home, but inadvertently gives him access to her personal and business bank accounts. What??? Nowadays that is a big red flag! I realize this is a plot consideration, but Michelle comes off being too easy of a mark.
I liked this book, it moved along quickly, but I did spend some time yelling at Michelle while I was reading. Yes, everyone makes mistakes but I don't like seeing women of this age and older portrayed as lacking intelligence. I'm probably in the minority, and wouldn't hesitate reading another book by this author.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
First, I would like to thank Netgally and also Boldwood Books for this ARC!
I realized too late this one was actually part of a series - the thrid book, to be exact - but luckily, it worked perfectly fine as a standalone. With roughly 230 pages, I was easily able to finish it in one evening, as well.
Now, the story itself? Surely exactly what I needed right now. I do need hopeful stories that lift up my mood and bring a smile to my face. I also did not mind that Michelle seemed to be a little naive, because, I am as well. And just like her, I am a fullgrown adult. Maybe that was why I did relate to her so much and was rooting for her. Overall, I can only really recommend this one!
It's an emotional tale with characters you empathise with. Michelle's life seems perfect in a coastal Cornish village, with a loving relationship, supportive friends, and a growing business, but a definite thread of realism runs through this story, and her world starts to implode. She faces difficult relationship choices that leave her alone, but loneliness is just the first conflict she has to weather. It's an immersive narrative, and the main character is particularly believable. I like the friendships, the realistic challenges to Michelle's happiness and the satisfying conclusion. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
Another great book in this series. I love the fact these books are based around the lives of strong, independent women in their 50s. Being in my late 40s I find it rare that the main characters are around my age. Beautiful descriptions of scenery, lots of warm realistic characters and difficult back stories combine to give a warm, interesting romance story. I love revisiting this little Cornish village of lonely hearts, who have been drawn together to create a close community that take care of one another. Each book includes previous characters so you can catch up on how they have progressed. Au honestly can’t wait for the next book.
Love Blooms at the Cornish Cottage by Kim Nash is the third book in the Sandpiper Shores series. It was a wonderful and lovely read from the very beginning till the very end. Every book I have read by this author I feel like I am a part of the story and it always grabs you and hugs you. Kim must be one of the best authors out there that just gives you the Love feeling!!! Plus, I love the way she writes and she always writes from her heart. This book was no different. I loved it. I ended up reading it all day until I had finished.
Just a beautiful read especially as it can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend you go back and read the other two. They will not disappoint.
