Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews (BookTome Edition): “The Eos Rising” by D.M. Lewry

Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.

From the wonderful mind of D.M. Lewry, "The Eos Rising" lived up to expectations after the events of "The Eos Key", expanding not only the page-turning world of the "Wynter Blood" series, but the characters and their journeys as well! Through the world-building, we not only learn more about Lewry's take on Vampire and Werewolf lore, but we're introduced to the Magicians, who deliver a combination of a reinvented and nostalgic take on Witch/Warlock lore and Magical Academia while also leaving the reader asking questions and wanting to learn more!

With the expanded lore on the supernatural, we also see how characters view and establish their magic and hierarchies, a sense of tension built at every turn as Alia, Kaine, and Eric try to figure out who to trust and who's the real enemy! Not only is there exquisite world-building, but Alia's character development was satisfying for me as a reader. This character has been through so much torment, and, through a strong support system, it was rewarding to see Alia gradually overcome her existential fears and reclaim her future. If you’re looking for a book that delivers a Paranormal Romance on an epic scale that also combines heart-pounding action with apocalyptic high-stakes, then don’t miss out on this book in the "Wynter Blood" series when it hits online shelves on September 13, 2025!

I listened to the audio book. It was fabulous. The narrators really brought the book to life. Maybe one of the best audio books I ever read.

Also, the character building was superb. I was able to delve into the book more because of it.

Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.

Eos Rising: Wynter Blood (Book 2) is my first read by the author, and I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint. Yea, I am new to the Urban Fiction/Paranormal(?) genre, and it took some getting used to, but I encourage you to stick in there, and you won’t be disappointed.

Through the first half of the book, Alia is a lost, confused, tragic soul. Yes, she has the support of Eric, the one she truly loves, but he carries around his own treasure trove of baggage. Hope is a frightening thing to Eric. He’s raw, rebellious, nearly lost to AB blood–and through a great portion of the story, unraveled.

“He was still so fragile, still walking on the edge of madness. She didn’t see how telling him would help. He rarely surfaced, and when he did, he struggled. Despite his efforts to hide it.”

It was frustrating for me to watch this, and when the stakes got even higher, I wanted to personally grab him, yanking him by the collar, and screaming, ‘Get a hold of yourself! Alia needs you!!’

Despite Grace and Lucian’s efforts to hide Alia, the Accord has had its eye set on making Alia a weapon for a very long time. The only thing any of the Accord can agree on is their quest for more power. As much as Eric and Kaine want to help, this is Alia’s fight and her fight only.

So when she arrived on the doorstep of the Magician’s sanctuary with the support of Kaine (despite his reluctance), I found myself desperately needing to cheer her on despite myself.

"Raj is my only in right now! I don't have anyone else," There was a sad truth to her loneliness. Between Roman and the Wynters, she didn't have a magician she felt comfortable talking to. She didn't trust any of them. At least not yet. Ever since Miranda's rights, she'd felt a sort of connection to Raj.’

”These were magicians. They were supposed to be her people,” unfortunately for her, it doesn’t pan out that way.

The Magicians (Chapter 56) was really where the story took off for me at full speed, and I couldn’t put it down. I loved learning about the powers of the Magicians and Jun's cunning ways, and this part of the story had me mesmerized.

As scary as each new release of her powers was, once the cycle was completed, it was also beautiful to watch Alia come into her own.

“Lucian, Roman, Anna! AND EVEN ERIC! All of them decided about my life without my consent!-”

Watching her finally stand up for herself, demanding the truth, and learning about her powers to end this nightmare for everyone was rewarding, to say the least.

“I think something in me is changing. I think when [omitted for saving spoilers] completed the Cycle…it did something”

By the end of the book, I fell in love with Lucian as a father, realizing he had been just as much a victim of the Accord as Grace and Alia. I longed for Alia to let her guard down and open herself up to him. It was truly tragic that they didn’t get the relationship both of them had longed for, but it was a relief that his suffering would finally be over. Listening to his memories of Alia as a child was endearing to me, and I really appreciate the author giving us this glimpse past all the iron-clad restraints. I felt the same way about Roman.

Despite all of Kaine’s support and loyalty in the book, I couldn’t help feeling as if Kaine was always getting the short end of the stick. I don’t think he could really surpass the raw emotions and deep passion Eric and Alia share, but I’m hopeful the three of them will finally have a chance to figure it out in the next book. I got a kick out of the therapy sessions with Dr. Dixon and couldn’t help but chuckle at where it led her to (LOL, how that girl didn’t get committed, I don’t know)!

A little fun fact. After finishing the book, I googled “Eos.” In Greek mythology, the Greeks saw her as literally bringing the light that awakens the world. I encourage other readers new to the genre and considering a crossover to give the story a chance; you won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoyed the voice actors in the book, especially Lucian, Roman, and Jun. Their voices had me on the edge of my seat. And listening to Jun describing the daemon Gabriel had me in chills.

Picking up where the EOS Key left off, Alia remains under Kaine's protection, still grappling with the betrayal, deception, and lies from those she once trusted. As she delves deeper into the supernatural realm, where vampires, werewolves, witches, and demons coexist, Alia discovers that she is far from the powerless witch she once believed herself to be. Her visions grow increasingly vivid, her body feels as if it is burning from within, and the urgent visits from her mother become more frequent. With her rapidly developing powers, Alia must learn to control her new magical abilities—powers that have the potential to alter the balance of power in the supernatural world and are highly coveted by many.

Throughout her journey, Alia faces numerous obstacles and tests, making many mistakes along the way. However, with the support of Kaine and Eric, she grows stronger and builds her defenses, ultimately preparing to confront and destroy the Accords. As her bond with Kaine and Eric deepens, Alia becomes more powerful and is now ready to challenge the Accords and thwart their plans for world domination.

The stakes are higher, the magic is more perilous, this story is filled with themes of magic, betrayal, found family, heartache, loss, redemption, second chances, sacrifice, and heartfelt reunions. Alia's transformation into an extraordinarily powerful being raises the question of whether her newfound strength will be sufficient to save her loved ones and put an end to the Accords' ambitions all while the fate of mankind hangs in the balance

Thank you, author DM Lewry, for a gifted copy of the ARC Audiobook. The cast was great and really brought the story to life.

I was so exited to finally get the follow up to The Eos Key! Eos Rising picks up almost immediately where Eos Key left off. Alia and Eric are back with even more complications and the stakes are even higher. Our girl Alia really goes through it! I absolutely loved getting more of Kaine and also at the growth in Alia throughout this book. It was also great getting into the greater supernatural world, especially the magicians and the Council. There was so much that happened in this book, plot and characters, that the pace kept up the whole time. I also loved that this was a why choose! The tension and the longing was top tier! I've really enjoyed this series and would definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for an urban supernatural fantasy.
