Have you ever imagined living under the same roof as your crush? Neither had Sophie. An eighteen-year-old, strong-willed, eldest daughter of her family who lives by the rules set by her father, manifesting a future where she can live freely and make her own decisions. She swore by her rule, "Men are a waste of time", because of her past trauma. But secretly? She's a hopeless romantic.
Everything begins to unravel when she meets him, an emerald-eyed boy who steals her attention at first glance. But her first crush turns into something far greater when he comes to live at her house. He turns out to be her childhood frenemy, the same boy she lost contact with ten years ago.
He's still infuriatingly charming and annoying, always teasing her at any chance he gets. But sometimes she feels like he'd grown up, softened. And behind his playful personality, she begins to see cracks—his secrets. He's like a jigsaw puzzle she can't help but solve. And just as she gets close to understanding him… He disappears, like a season that ends too soon.
Two years later, he returns. Lingering at the edge of her life again, turning everything upside down. He tells her he's here because of a promise he made long ago but what promise? Are the feelings mutual? What were his reasons? What secrets was he hiding all along? And most of all, was that first encounter two years ago really just a coincidence?

It was, no doubt, a treat to read such a comforting and beautiful story where every character, especially the main leads are giving the vibes of such cute young human beings that went through everything like love, hate, anger, pain, and forgotten... The writing style captivated me till the last page and yeah...the last pages, I must say my face was full of tears after reading the POV of that Emerald eyes boy, who was a lovely and lively person from outside, still carrying the weight of unseen promises 🎀 I could relate myself to Sophie, as we both share the same opinions on men " Men are a waste of time". but she is also a hopeless romantic gurllllllll 😭😭😭 The story keeps deep secrets and a lot of emotions in itself that you can't but relate and dive into the world of Sophie and Ethan 💗 I really enjoyed the whole setup, panorama, chemistry, and the rollercoaster of emotions that bound me to the book till the very last page. Hats off to the writer for writing such a comforting read for us, when all crybabies truly need an Emerald eye person in their sad lives. ✨🤌🏻 Stay blessed and Keep writing dear Author, we are truly waiting for the next ones 🤍
This book is so freaking good. Each and every character is adding their own special role in the book. The storyline is so good. The main leads, their bonding and their cute little fights are so freaking loving and romantic. The character of ethan is very sassy plus mysterious while the character of Sophie is very strong yet fragile. I usually don't give reviews of books i read but i really like the writing style of this author. It's a very wholesome book i enjoyed it a lot while reading. Waiting eagerly for more books from this author.
I'm completely obsessed with this novel. first of all, the story is captivating, and Sophie and Ethan's chemistry is undeniable. i mean reading about them feels like i am actually watching a cdrama. the vibessss omggg! Every scene feels special and the letter scene, in particular, had me emotional and invested. i feeelll so so bad for Ethan! i dont want to add spoilers but i am telling ending was worth it. i actually cried just a bit! maybe i m too soft hearted...I loved every aspect of this story, and I think it's one of the best novels I've read. Highly recommend!
This book was absolutely extraordinary. It follows a girl that's destined for this boy but she always stays back and has some mental health issues here and there.
The ending made me sob and the writing was so descriptive and beautiful. I usually don't like extra descriptive writing but this one was so easy to visualise and it was humorous too! I loved Sophie and Crybaby by Ethan? They're such sweethearts and their banter is amazing. It's so cutesy, cozy, perfectly YA and so comforting.
3 ⭐️ Sophie & Ethan’s love story is filled with love & pain. Sophie & Ethan met as kids who, in my opinion, were destined for one another, but lost contact. 💗 Ethan is the mysterious, sassy guy, and Sophie is the sweet, fragile, but strong girl. Then, 10 years later, Sophie comes across an emerald-eyed boy and is swept off her feet, but little does she know her crush is that same boy from her childhood 🫶🏻. Ethan ends up moving into Sophie’s home after something drastic happens in his life. Sophie & Ethan fit perfectly together, and eventually Sophie starts seeing through Ethan’s cracks and realizes he has deep secrets. But before Sophie can fully understand him, Ethan disappears without an explanation, leaving Sophie heartbroken. Two years go by before Ethan shows up again, turning Sophie’s life upside down and claiming he is back because of a promise he made to her years ago. How will that end?.?. ⁉️I did enjoy their dynamic and the storyline. The plot twists had me hooked. I went from happy to sad (crying) in the next moment. The letter scene had me emotional. I did struggle with the pacing, time jumps, and some dialogue. I was sometimes confused about who was speaking and whether it was an inner dialogue or not. It was sweet, cozy, and emotional; perfect for YA lovers. 🌷💓
This second chance romance follows Sophie, an ambitious lawyer, who has a chance reconnection with Ethan, her childhood enemy turned client (?). There are no shortage of twists and turns, but the story structure is convoluted and difficult to follow. Plus, the pacing is so fast that the characters, in turn, feel wooden and 2-dimensional. Looking past the awkward time jumps and stilted dialogue, there are a few key moments where this story could be good but the execution is sadly lacking. I wanted to love it, but struggled through it. Thankfully it's mercifully short.
