A story about a little angel who came down with the angelic hosts to greet the Christ Child. After falling asleep, which prevents her from returning to Heaven, she begins a long stay on earth making people happy.
I love this book!!!!!I read it every year around Christmas..It is a child's book but the story is so beautiful and haunting. A Small girl angel came down from heaven to Earth to sing with the other angels about Jesus. She accidentally fell asleep and woke up alone. She met a man walking by himself who looked so sad so she gave him her harp to make him happy...On and on she gave til she looked like a normal girl no wings, no crown,no harp.. She walked to a light she thought was Heaven but instead it was a home to a woman who had prayed and prayed for a child..She never knew how she touched the people's lives she had helped. I can't tell U how much I treasure this book<3 I love it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this book. It is my favorite children's Christmas story. We read it several times each Christmas. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and peace to my heart. Little Lost Angel is one of those rare treasures that speaks to the child in everyone's heart.
Take time to read the other reviews on this book and you'll be looking for a copy of your own.
12/31/2012 The last time i read this book was Dec.19, 2011. I realized that I had not read it yet this year and I am so glad that I remembered to read it before the season ends.
A selfless little angel changes people inwardly when she is kind to them and gives of herself, both without question. She enables them to become something so much more than they currently are.
Very nicely written story about a little angel first in search of the newborn King like the bigger angels. But she gets 'lost' along the way and goes to sleep with the sheep as the shepherds are away. When she wakes up she knows she has to find the bigger angels to find her way back to Heaven as she's to small to make it on her own. She sets out and along the way finds a sad man she gives her harp to, a sad woman that she gives her crown to, and a sad little cripple boy that can't walk to see the new King she gives her wings to him. Along her travel she gives away a little of herself and then a family finds her and takes her in as their daughter. YEARS later she realizes that the three people she helped so long ago took that gift from years back and in turn helped others with that gift. This book helps to teach children (and adults) how giving of oneself is the very best thing you can do.
This was may absolute favorite childhood book. It was at my grandma's house and I have no idea what happened to it. I have been on a quest to find it ever since. If anyone has one of the original old versions and doesnt want it....please let me know!!!!
I have had this book since my children were babies and have read it to them over and ove and passed on reading to my grands and it is a treasured book in our home, It has been taped together so we can continue reading it, I do love it and than Janet for writing it so we can have such wonderful memories to pass on to future generations
This book from 1953 is the absolute sweetest. The story itself and the illustrations are so heartwarming and special. It touched on my favorite subjects and themes— angels, touching acts of service, helping others transform their lives by a ‘random’ act of kindness, interconnection, nurturing, and pure open-hearted love.
A tiny angel slips out of heaven unnoticed among the choir setting out to serenade the new born Christ child. She does not know what to make of it all so, drowsy, she floats down to take a nap among the sheep. When she awakens she sets out to find the angels who have left her behind. On her quest she meets several people, all upset and discouraged, emotions which she doesn't really understand. Innocently, the little angel gives them, one by one, all that she has until she herself has nothing: no harp, no crown, no wings. Goodness, she can barely walk, and she has no shoes! Thus, her new life begins, a life which has already done more good than she will ever know.
I had this little book when I was a child, and never forgot it. I picked it up at a used book fair, and am just as delighted with it now as I ever was. The story is a lovely tale of innocence and selflessness, and how easy it is to make a big impression on someone else without ever knowing it. Mine is an original 1953 copy with the colorful, sweet, vintage illustrations that I well remember.
An absolutely beautiful story— lovely illustrations and a story to warm your heart and make you smile. Janet Field Heath gets many thanks from me for bringing extra heart to Christmas this year.
This sweet story was my daughter’s book from the late 1980’s. I’ve now read this old book several times a day to a 4 year old who claims it’s her favorite Christmas story!
My mum used to read this to me when I was a child. It became 'our' book and she read it to me every Christmas. It's a beautiful story. The angel is so kind and I love how her story teaches children to care for others. The perfect Christmas story. I still have my copy and I'm going to read it this Christmas. Highly recommended.
