HOARD, HIDE, & HAUNT: A Ravenwood Cove Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
Pumpkin spice. Cute costumes. Eating too much chocolate.

And maybe a dead guy.

Halloween has arrived in the cozy town of Ravenwood Cove, and the town's annual Harvest Festival promises to be the biggest celebration yet. When a scavenger hunt leads to more than just hidden treasures, Amanda Landon finds herself tangled in a web of family secrets and mysteries that a killer is desperate to keep buried.

Someone is using the Halloween chaos as cover for something far more dangerous than harmless tricks and treats. As Amanda follows the trail from the pumpkin patch to the abandoned railway, she discovers that this scavenger hunt isn't a game at all. It's a desperate attempt to uncover a truth that's been hidden for decades.

Some secrets are worth killing for. Others are worth dying to protect. In Ravenwood Cove, the line between trick and treat has never been deadlier.

This book is rated PG because, hey, there’s probably a dead guy in it somewhere.

I've been writing and making stories in my head as early as I can remember. In third grade I came home, set my lunchbox down, and told my mother I wanted to be a writer. Luckily, Mom was supportive.

I've been a published author for a while now, under different names and genres, but the thought of writing about a small coastal town in Oregon, and about its loves and mysteries and holidays and people has been with me for years. To be honest, I am a bit scared to dump those ideas onto the written page, but hope you'll enjoy getting to meet the people who inhabit my imagination.

In real life, I'm married with kids, live on the West Coast of the US, and own a hobby farm just outside of my favorite small town. I love to travel, and can often be found strolling down a windy Oregon beach, holding onto the string of a high-sailing dragon kite.

Loved This Book!

I have read every book in this series and enjoyed them all. The inhabitants of this wonderful series become like family and old friends. It's close to Halloween and Amanda who is the owner of Ravenswood Cove Inn has been planning the Halloween festival for months. The events surrounding the festival are all in place for what will be not only enjoyable but is bringing tourists to the town. Decorations, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest and lots of excited children as well as adults. The centerpiece is going to be the gathering at an old restored mansion which has been returned to it's former glory. But as usual there is always something to throw a wrench into the best laid plans. A stranger has arrived in town and upsetting residents by trying to buy large parcels of land in order to build vacation rentals. If that wasn't upsetting enough, he is harassing the new owner of the mansion by trying to force her to sell. When his body is found dead on the property at the end of the scavenger hunt it throws a damper on everything and everyone.

As Amanda attempts to help get to the bottom of the mystery, old secrets, a terrible tragedy and shocking lies are revealed. Digging deeper its obvious that someone is willing to go to any lengths to hide 70 years of rumors, lies and deadly secrets, even to resorting to frightening the entire town.

Well written, enjoyable, entertaining and very poignant. There were tears for me as I can relate to the story in a very sad way. Without providing any spoilers I too had a family member who was misunderstood and misdiagnosed and treated every badly due to things being what they were 70 years ago. Still an excellent story of family, friends and finding the truth in order to heal. A story of light and love. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!

I love books by this author but this one had a glaring problem. At the beginning Grayson house was owned by Valerie Hudson, who 'poured her money into purchasing it and restoring it'. Amanda tells Armstrong, that Valerie owns it and isnt selling. Yet at the end of the book it's described as looking like something out of a ghost story and the house not being safe in a storm. What did Valerie spend her money on then??? Even more confusing the historical society is turning it into a museum. How? There's no mention of Valerie selling it. This plot hole ruined the story for me. Maybe I missed something, if I did I'll pull this review down!

I have read this series straight through, and found inconsistencies in all, but this book must’ve been written by someone who was given the barest details of the previous books’ characters and events, or it was written by AI. One example is the total reworking of the lovely trading Truman did to get an engagement ring for Meg. It’s so very annoying and I won’t be reading any more books from this “author”.

confusing

This book in the series seemed different. The timeline of story events was off. The main characters have changed. James went from attending church to not. There were many other timeline mistakes as well. Their ages of the children was adjusted as needed for the scene. It felt as if a different author wrote this book in the series.

Too many mistakes, too hard to follow due to the mistakes, and too preachy at the end.
