The fight has been a long one and a hard one with many unseen events along the way. The end however is here. The last battle of the war. The most important battle of the war. Soon they will leave for Cor Imperii, the capital of the empire. Soon they will launch a head-on attack against Speaker Phillip T Neill of the Democratic People's Republic of Solaria. Soon Chase will do what he swore to Kill Neill, personally, tear down the DPRS, abolish the Secret Police, the Loyalty Officers, and re-establish the Empire of Solaria.
There's just one last battle to fight to win the war.
Or is it? The last battle that is. Neill has his doomsday weapon, out there, somewhere, being developed in secret. It could kill billions, maybe more. Whole planets could be wiped out if it's not found and stopped before it can be finished, before it can be used.
There's also other players about. Other star kingdoms who have seen the inevitable decline that Neill and his government started when they lost access to the Tomb after killing off the prior emperor. In a hope to survive, or perhaps just seeing the state of the decaying Democratic People's Republic, they've decided that some of those planets are ripe for the taking.
Which means that this battle may still have a few more rounds left in it before the Wolfhounds can, once and for all, return home.
I've had a very varied life. I grew up in New York, on Long Island. I went to school to become an Engineer, then joined the Air Force. After that I worked first in Robotics, then in Aerospace as a Flight Test Engineer. I moved into the medical fields, then into more Technical markets working for a number of high tech companies where I became a Contractor. I used to own and raise big cats. I love motorcycles and old cars. I'm a pilot and former martial arts instructor. I'm a fan of the Reno Air Races. Then there's the stuff I'm not supposed to talk about, but that's another story. I've seen a lot of interesting stuff go by, met a lot of interesting, wonderful, strange, or sometimes just psychotic people. I've had the opportunity to work on some truly game changing technologies. And while I've had some very bad things happen to me in my life, I've never let it stop me. Keep smiling. -John
This book closes out the first story of Chase Morgan in bringing the Morgan empire back into power over the Solarian Empire. A good read, more space, mech & ground force battles ensue as they recapture the last hold outs. A good read and I hope we can read more about these characters as they are very interesting. I have enjoyed nearly all of this author’s work.
This is a fantastic end and we get some actual, great closure in this story. I don't want to spoil anything but man, I'm actually glad that I got to read these books.
I'm actually upset that this story is over and we have to wait to get more out of Chase's storyline, but I also gotta appreciate that none of this story felt like the author was milking it to get more books out like some other stories I've read. I feel like we got a great end to this series and honestly if you stuck around this long for it I think you'll really like it.
All wrapped up with a bow. The DPS leaders got theirs, though of course some brave freedom fighters didnt make it. Though others did.
Interesting thoughts in the book about despots and narcissistic power grabbers who take over, enriching themselves before it all comes crashing down due to greed and shortsighteness. Their supporters and sycophants seem to always be surprised when its their turn to fall upon their sword. That time always comes eventually. Very appropriate for the political climate of today.
It's a great end to a great series. I've been hooked on this saga since the first chapter of the first book.
This last one seemed a bit rushed in parts, but it still wrapped everything up nicely.
I would love to read more about the coming years with Chase and Claire and their children. Who knows what type of trouble their children will be with how the parents are.
Thank you to the author for writing this series, and I will very much so be reading your other works.
What a great book this is. I have enjoyed it so much that I plan to start over in the morning and read it again. No! I am serious! I have enjoyed the whole series and have very recently reread the other 5 books. I can highly recommend the whole series as John Van Stry has kept a very good tempo through the books, and the characters are well drawn, very believable, and live their lives on the pages.
Absolutely Brilliant series. Please write the extra books on Chase and Clair. Don't normally like syfy type books but as it was one of yours thought I'd give it a try when you first rehearse the series and I've been good since and well defiantly miss reading about Chase. Hope your feeling Bert now and look forward to hopefully more Chase and portals.
Here be space opera! This is the kind of story that made me into an Avid Reader of Science Fiction and fantasy. Jen is a good writer and creates great characters and tells a good story. What more can you want? Do yourself a favor and check out all of his books.
Great space opera story, but… many of the characters have the sexual appetite of Flesch Gordon. Seriously it’s like they all got hit with the sex ray from the 1970s sci-fi spoof, Flesch Gordon. I would’ve given this book 5 stars, but the author’s fixation on sex was a bit of a distraction. Trust me, I’m no prude but wow, does he really focus on sex!
A predictable conclusion to an unrewarding series. The protagonist must be serving his prison sentence in a VR fever dream. Street kid with no education and daddy-issues conquers the galaxy and builds a harem. The hero outsmarts countless inept cliche villians through unearned knowledge, nobility and zero childhood trauma despite repeated flashbacks to such inducing history. I've read worse.
This was so satisfying. I loved the series and was looking forward to the ending. I love being able to support the author on Patreon, his work is worth it.
This was a good read and a fitting end(?) to the Wolfhounds saga. Reading the afterword leads one to believe we might not have seen the end of Chase and Claire...fingers crossed!!! Highly recommend this series!
Great series, awesome universe, fun fast paced action. Well worth the read. It’s now tomorrow read it straight through and it was well worth it. Absolutely recommend.
The protagonist is a kid off the streets, with a secret found out in the first book. The rest of the series documents his efforts to get what is his. Really fun books
The death of the DPMS and restoration of the Empire.
Lots of big battles in this book all are easily won due to superior planning. Chase fulfills his promise to kill Neil then reduces his body to plasma. Excellent read and fitting end to this part of the Wolf bounds series
This enter last book felt like you tryed to vilified the enemies completely lay making everone else a tragic hero of the story. Like you just went way to mugh into that angle that felt you lost touch in what made this amazing book series.
All the normal problems with wrapping up a series: you’ve got to tie loose ends, and that can take a bit. Plus, rebuilding an empire is…well, boring. But there was enough combat (and training) to keep things hopping.
I'm disappointed to see this series end as I enjoyed reading it so much. I would have loved to see Chase begin the process of empire rebuilding, but this seems like a very fitting end with a bow on top.
It was an ending. Nothing terribly surprising, all standard fair. It's been so long since the last one that I didn't remember most of the characters, so a lot of this was pointless to me. Two stars because it was really rote and predictable.
This was a great series that I read they day each book was released! The characters and story lines were fun and easy to identify with. This goes into the need to read list, if you like fiesty underdog's tales of daring.
Covers the whole series. Engaging characters with solid lead characters and good supporting characters. Tried and trusted plot but has been given plenty of twists and turns keeping you interested and engaged. Thoroughly enjoyed it!😁
It was a short read but a good read. The Author brought the story to a concise ending. Hopefully it won’t be the end of the series. I can recommend this book to other readers. You will need to read the previous books to really appreciate the series.
I loved everything about this series. I've read it multiple times. The only part I really disliked was Karyn's death. She's was a trained agent. She would've killed him first. That just didn't fit the story line for me. Still 5 *.
So glad the "bad guys" got what they deserved! Wonderful storyline with a hint of spice! Would love to see some more about the royal family and what the future has in-store.
