Roman Volkov is a devil in human skin. His next mission is revenge, and she is meant to be nothing more than a pawn in his game. But Ayla Aslan sees something human in him—and dares to love.
An angel who once thought she could change him quickly learns he doesn’t love; he destroys. Yet angels burn devils alive, and Roman realizes too late that she is his obsession, his weakness, his undoing. She has damned him, but he has shattered her heart.
Now the man who once believed himself incapable of feelings will beg, crawl, burn—anything to be forgiven.
Note: and ofc there’s a chapter where he goes to a strip club to sleep with someone else to forget the fmc and we get the classic “my dick didn’t work” excuse bullshit, but you still went there with the intention so its as if you did do it. Yea goodbye to the dnr pile.
I’ve been waiting for this since I read the excerpt in the first book. We are shown a scene of Roman being a complete asshole to Ayla and I remember saying I needed him on his knees begging for her forgiveness. Well good news is, we do get him on his knees, more than once begging for forgiveness and for her to love him so that was very satisfying. Not gonna lie I would have folded sooner than she did.
This begins with a kidnapping. Roman is trying to get back at Ayla’s dad so he kidnaps her and keeps her hostage. We see how cold Roman is in the beginning. He’s never had feelings for anyone, doesn’t even know what love is because he’s never felt it from anyone or for anyone. He starts feeling a certain way about Ayla and doesn’t understand it because he’s never felt it before. I do like how even though he wasn’t a virgin (in fact he’s slept with many many women 🙄) he’s never kissed anyone before. So Ayla was his first kiss, also the first and only woman he’s ever gone down on. Which I would like to see more of in books, I feel like oral on a woman is so intimate and I need more MMCs who haven’t done it. Anyway! He takes her virginity (because of course she’s a virgin) and then runs away because he’s scared of his feelings. He’s open and vulnerable with her, telling her things he’s never told anyone. But then she becomes his weakness and as the Pakhan that can’t happen so he’s very cruel to her. Forces her to marry him, embarrasses her in front of her entire family and then basically calls her a common whore. Ayla doesn’t take this lightly and once Roman realizes he messed up the groveling begins.
I did enjoy the grovel. He did a complete 180 from how he was in the beginning of the book. He literally kisses his woman’s feet, kneels for her and BEGS over and over for her forgiveness and love. He was very possessive over her for the entire book which I loved. And when she leaves him for a month he becomes a shell of his former self. He doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep. His whole household is worried about him. What I didn’t love? Ayla hearing how he’s in bad shape and says she misses him and decides to go back to him, she tells him she loves him, makes him eat and then RUNS AWAY AGAIN!! Like girl? Be so for real. You were just thinking about how miserable you were without him, he’s obviously not doing good. Why are you going to go get his hopes up with an I love you only to run away again saying you needed space? You shouldn’t have gone back in the first place then. Anyway he fights for her and the rest is history.
Also I did not like Lola at all in this book. She’s the FMC from the first book in the series. We see a certain scene in that book from Lola’s POV that made me lose a little respect for her but once we see the scene in this book from Ayla’s POV I’ve lost all respect for her. No longer like her at all. I get she wanted to defend her man but she can do that without being a raging bitch and hurting someone who was taken against their will.
OW drama- earlier in the book after Roman kidnaps her, he starts to feel some type of way that he doesn’t understand and he doesn’t like so he goes to one of his strip clubs with the intention of hooking up with one of the dancers. She comes in the room, he doesn’t feel any interest and he doesn’t get hard because he can’t stop thinking about Ayla so he sends the dancer away. Later the dancer insinuates to Ayla that they slept together which isn’t true. I’m happy he didn’t hook up with anyone but the fact that he has intentions to, I didn’t like that at all. You don’t need to show us he wants the FMC by him not being able to get it up for someone else. He should have never gone there in the first place.
OM drama- Ayla has a childhood friend turned bodyguard who she’s really close with and Roman isn’t happy about it at all.
Anyway I’m intrigued by Lara’s book.
NO CHEATING OW/OM (see above) THIRD ACT BREAK UP (a month separation) AGE GAP (24/36) VIRGIN FMC NEVER BEEN KISSED MMC KIDNAPPING (MMC to FMC) MURDER PAST CHILD ABUSE (to MMC) HEA
i started this book expectating it to be bad, yet somehow it was worst, so i'm not going to rate it. I'm not even going to touch on how Roman's so called " grovel" didn't cover half of what he did to Ayla, he needed to grovel for a hell of alot more than that, heck Mikhail groveled better and he didn't even fuck up like Roman did. he kidnapped her, abused her, used her, humiliated her, took her virginity then dipped, called her a common whore, let Lola use her as a shielf/ target, he completely ruined her relationship with her family, said awful things to her... yet he grovel for a bit, played victim and made her being away all about his him, when he literally made her depressed and miserable. she's not blameless either tbh, she crawled back to him every time he fucked up like a love sic puppy, she's toughen up with 2 secondes then ends up with him after one touch and a serious case of BBS.
the scene where Lola acted like a bitch was bad enough in her book, but reading in from this book? i wanted to throttle her. but despite Lola turning into a total nutjob and hurting an innocent girl she's still a far more interesting fmc than Ayla
safety: safe-ish no cheating owd : he went to sleep with a dancer / stripper after kidnapping Ayla, yet when the girl showed up he " couldn't get it up", the dancer causes drama later on too. omd : there was a guy Emir that caused Roman to be jealous
DNF at 92% I couldn’t even be bothered to stick around for their happy ending because this was absolutely ridiculous! 😂🙈 I’m convinced there are real Mafia men out there reading this kind of Mafia nonsense (just for funsies) and laughing their asses off. 😂
This book, or rather, this kind of “romantic delusion” is exactly why some men treat women like brainless, hormonal, emotional ninnies. Because if women truly think this is romantic and what real love looks like… then no wonder. And listen, I might’ve eaten this up when I was 15 and brainless, but now? I can’t stop laughing! 😂
Setting aside the fact that the writing was mediocre and there was zero buildup to their relationship or connection, what really killed it for me was the characterization. Because WHAT DO YOU MEAN the once cruel Mafia boss, the man who murders people for the most banal reasons, is now crawling on his knees for you in front of his men? Or cleaning your apartment? Or washing your dishes?? Or being willing to give your family his men, his weapons, his entire empire? …excuse me?! In whaaaat world would this ever happen?! That’s such a contradiction in itself. No amount of love would change a man so completely! To want to CRAWL FOR HER? Where are we, in delusional Lalaland?😒
And no, I wasn’t bothered by what most people seem to be upset about in this book, the whole “he went to a club to distract himself from her” thing. At that point, they weren’t even together. She was still his hostage, and there wasn’t supposed to be anything between them. So I genuinely don’t get all the outrage when he didn’t even do anything. He literally couldn’t let that stripper touch him because she wasn’t the one he wanted.
Honestly, that scene was one of the few moments that actually made sense for his character a Mafia boss who’s used to indulging in whatever he wants. I’m not saying I wanted him to cheat on the FMC, but the fact that he even wanted a distraction in the first place felt realistic for a man in his position, especially a Mafia boss.
Anyway, I’ll add a few excerpts from the book so you can see for yourself what a total simp the MMC was. Don’t get me wrong, I love an obsessed male lead as much as the rest of the female population, but when he starts acting like an adolescent fool instead of the powerful Mafia guy he’s supposed to be, that’s when I just can’t take him seriously anymore.
Roman Volkov, the man who once destroyed me, is now cleaning my floors and cooking my meals. My brain warns me this is dangerous, but my heart doesn’t listen. It’s already back in his hands, fragile and stupid. He watches me more than his plate. “Do you think you’ll ever forgive me?” The question lodges in my throat. I choke on steak, reach for water, and gulp it down. Apologies. Gifts. Humiliation in front of men who’d kill for his respect. His childhood bared open before me. His body punished, starved, broken down—all for me. If I’m honest, I already forgave him. Against my will, against my pride. My silence stretches too long. Roman stands, then lowers himself to his knees. Not satisfied, he falls forward onto his hands and crawls the short distance across the floor until he reaches me. When his forehead drops against my thigh, his voice is a hoarse prayer. “I know I shattered your pride and crushed your heart. And I’m so sorry. But you told me you love me—that means you gave me your heart again. So what’s left is pride. Break mine like I broke yours, angel.” “What?” The word scrapes out, horrified, because he has found the exact wound I couldn’t name myself. “Kick me. Hit me. Spit in my face. Tear me down until I have nothing. Then watch me crawl back to you and rebuild myself at your feet. Do it, Ayla.”
“I want you to stop.” The words rip out of me. “Stop starving yourself. Stop tearing your body apart. Stop hurting yourself for me.” “If that’s what you want, that’s what I’ll do.” Relief buckles through me. “Good.” “But answer me, Ayla. Tell me what it will take for you to forgive me. Do you want me to give your family my men, my weapons, my empire? Do you want me humiliated again in the underground, crawling through blood for you? Tell me, and it’s yours.”
No, my man, the one with the shattered pride and no self respect is you, not her! 😒
This book started off on such a good note!! I was actually in love and deadass thought it was the heart wrenching enemies to lovers till the guy forces her to marry him then they have beef for like 75% of the book…
like oki Bro im bored
Also he legit lusted over her and took her virginity then humiliated her and slut shames her idk how tf this classifies as dark hot romance but it ain’t for me bro he’s so obsessive it’s scary and gross… I love obsessive mmc ( #warner) but bro his possessiveness if is a massive turn off and ick ☠️
also idk how tf she fell in love w him he’s legit the biggest red flag 😭😭😭😭help i just wanted a cute Christian-Gianna lovebomb not friggin ptsd
Ayla and Roman. He is Mikhail’s brother from the first book and Pakhan.
Kidnaps Ayla to make her Turkish father pay for giving him trouble. She is a genuinely sweet and kind person. He hates that her sunshine is ruining his darkness.
Chapter 11 he goes to the strip club to find a nameless, faceless woman and forget Ayla. A stripper comes into the VIP room, but his body isn’t interested at all. Didn’t like how it felt like he could go through with it. He sends her away after she just touched his arm.
I was writing this review as I read. Once I was done I read Paige’s review. Loved her review so I will refer to that.
This book was a 5 star for me

If you’re over 15 don’t read this it’s actually the dumbest shit I’ve ever read. This is giving delulu mafia world. The fmc is quite literally the stupidest character, and the mmc is also so annoying. The scene that pissed me off the most was when Lola got mad that they were attacked by the fmc family to rescue the fmc bc her husband was hurt, like it’s not the fmc fault the mafia boss didn’t accept the deal and they were ambushed??? She’s literally a hostage do u expect her to say sorry (she does say sorry even tho she’s a fckn hostage) LIKE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!! I The whole wedding made me so mad and he didn’t even apologize once for that, and let’s be realistic ain’t no mafia boss gonna be on his knees for her in front of all his men this was too cringy I can’t I’m getting heated typing this
Nova babe. Ayla is a fucking doormat but lola is a fucking bitch. U couldnt go in the middle for both of them? Jeez and here i thought this was gonna be my new fav author
Doesn’t offer anything new. Reminds me of The Darkest Temptation by Danielle Lori or any Cora Reilly book. I hated those books btw.
Shares the same scenes: - she’s kidnapped after already meeting him - he’s always coming to her room? - he’s constantly SA’ing her but she likes it so it’s ok - he goes to his club to find someone else but he can’t get his d hard - she makes friends with everyone who works for him
We’ve just seen it all already.
Ok so she claims to hate blood and violence whatever. He shoots his subordinate (just a scrape btw) for trying to help her by offering her a phone and she faints ok pretty normal considering her fear of blood.
So why when he kills someone for looking at her does she not seem to care at all? Like I get he was looking up her dress but bear in mind this guy has done much worse.
And her whole thing is about loving animals. So when she runs away and gets bitten by a dog and acknowledges the dogs only came near her cos she was in their territory and it wasn’t their fault does she not seem to care when he sends him men after the dogs to kill them all?
It just doesn’t seem to make sense for her character at all.
I liked the fact she was Turkish but then it added little to her character other than she loves making Baklava and the ML just destroys their traditions whilst forcing her to marry him.
This guy didn’t even apologise for anything. And the feud between the families was never resolved? She claims to love her family and forgets about them next second except her not biological brother who has a crush on her and wants her to run away with him.
This guy was beefing her for bringing sunshine into his house. Is he the bloody grinch. And I get he was starved in his childhood but it was a bit funny when he kept sniffing the bread. It was described in a funny way like he just kept snorting bread lmao. He sniffed bread on like ten separate occasions.
And the ML’s sister in law had me so freaking confused. She’s in like three scenes. 1. She gives our fl clothes when she’s kidnapped. 2. She gives the fl a phone to call her family but her family announces they’re gonna attack them??? Bro u heard her on the phone she didn’t say nothing about attack these lot why on earth would u blame her for the attack. She holds the fl at gunpoint and the fl has the nerve to say I thought we were friends. Bitch u met her once before this in the house u were being held hostage in for two minutes fym u were friends. Then the ml has the freaking audacity to look sad when she’s held at gunpoint but thank the sister in law after for being brave enough to do so when he couldn’t because of his feelings towards her??? None of this was her fault. YOU kidnapped her and rejected any offers made for a deal between the families??? Obviously they would retaliate somehow??? I felt like I was being gaslit along with the fl because there’s no way he actually liked her.
And then when they marry bro. Don’t get me started actually I’m done I just like ranting. The book weren’t even that bad. I knew what I was getting into when I started it. I found it on tiktok bloody hell. Anyways I’m just sick of basic books and shitty male leads. Like why can’t we raise the standard a bit. I’m blaming myself actually because I’m not the target audience. It a mafia guy of course I should have low standards. I can understand why people like it but I don’t.
Tl;dr Empty book with no real substance. Seems like a regurgitation of other books. Her character is so bipolar. There’s no reason for her to fall in love with him at all other than his face probably. And he admits her lusts over her and I don’t see any evidence where he loves her other than him saying it.

Loved both books in the series so far and look forward to the third! Bratva romance with characters you feel for and great grovel when the mmcs mess up..chefs kiss. Also love how the fmcs were not doormats and stood on business.
Entschuldigung aber was?!???!!

If we're going to be completely honest here, I was going to rate this book 3-4 stars. The beginning just didn't have me fully and it didn't help that 19% into the book Roman went to one of his clubs to try to have sex with an employee in an attempt to rid himself of his feelings for Ayla, even though of course he couldn't get hard and ended up just drinking alone. Regardless, his intent of doing this and his chosen method to purge her out of his system was distasteful for me and didn't exactly give him the best sort of early introduction.
Ayla didn't exactly get my attention either as she was just the typical meek and innocent FMC who was just all sunshine and smiles mostly despite wanting to return back to her family. I did like how she was slowly making those around her become less tense and more happy, like Elena (the chef) and Matvey (one of Roman's men). She was the true embodiment of the sunshine FMC and though her character was pretty boring and nothing special to me, it was nice to see the effects she had on Roman, slowly tearing his walls down and allowing us more glimpses into who he truly was as a character.
The book truly got interesting around the 50%, where Roman and Ayla have sex, he takes her virginity, promises to love her or at least try to, then proceeds to treat her like a one night stand and say that she meant nothing to him and that he just wanted to "get in her pants." This is really where the plot goes crazy and moves quite fast, with a switch flipping in Ayla where she finally becomes cold and detached from Roman and basically ignores his existence and treats him nothing more than dirt on her shoe.
UGH. I honestly lived for this era of her just being the coldest bitch ever, and it was genuinely amazing to see just how solid she was in not giving Roman anything. I loved seeing Roman actually grovel so much, to the point I'm pretty sure he outdid his brother Mikhail by MILES. This man literally threw a whole gala, invited all the most powerful men in the mafia, and got on his knees and kissed her feet publicly. AGH. And the way he was always super jealous of every man no matter who, even from the start of meeting her?? LOVE HIM. He was jealous of Mikhail, Emir (the one sided love interest), and even one unnamed guard who he killed because he looked up her skirt. Get you a man like this LOL.
But genuinely I really enjoyed seeing the lengths that this man went to try to win her back and get into her good graces again, like literally trying to feed her himself throughout the entire book when she wouldn't eat, procuring and healing her cherished horse Ace, and even getting her accepted into a vet school to help her achieve her dreams. This man was willing to do anything to make her happy, even if it wasn't what he himself wanted. I also swooned seeing how after Ayla tried to flee and then faint (being attacked by dogs), he went crazy and feral at that point and took it upon himself to be the only one treating and tending to her all while instructing his men to kill every last dog who harmed her. SWOON.
I also loved how Ayla had a lot of Roman's firsts, like his first kiss (and given oral) and his first birthday celebration, or one of the few people who knew his deepest darkest secrets, to even being the first to see his playful side and to see him actively changing his life for her. I also liked how the OW scene in the bathroom was handled. When the blonde (who came in for Roman at the club, just for him to send her away because he wasn't interested,) had confronted Ayla, I loved how she stood her ground and literally told her she was nothing more than a fuck and how she'd never have the privileges and opportunities that she herself had with Roman, being seen as his woman in public, wearing his gifts, and even being worth remembering.
Roman was also great in handling that situation as he was super transparent, making it clear he didn't touch her and professing how he wanted Ayla to care and love him. And obviously when she didn't take that, he told her how nobody affects him the way she does, that ever since she came into his life, he's hadn't gotten a reaction from anyone but her and how she's become one with him body and soul. This really redeemed the whole club situation for me, and it just made me love him that much more.
Honestly, I just really loved Roman's groveling arc, and how he was even willing to debase himself further for her, like redoing the wedding or getting on his knees again (anything to make her happy).
To see how their relationship was a month after she left and started attending vet school was also pretty great as well. We got to see how her absence affected Roman, which was severely as everyone in the house was gloomy and on edge (especially Mikhail as we got to see him cry), all due to Roman having not eaten for a while and even falling into a fever (experiencing hallucinations of Ayla). It was kind of heartbreaking to see just how torn up Roman was and how weak physically and mentally he'd become after Ayla's absence, falling into a deep depression and sickness.
I did enjoy witnessing his talk with his brother where everything was laid out about Roman's childhood and his feelings toward Ayla, ending with Mikhail and Lola encouraging him to go after Ayla. Side note, I also appreciated getting Lola's apology to Ayla for using her as a human shield, as it made her more human and made her less of an asshole as Lola did it with the intent of protecting Mikhail.
Roman's childhood to me was also pretty sad. Having his dad essentially torture him from the moment he was born all to raise him to be the future Pakhan, and seeing why he values food so much and why nobody under his watch/care would ever go hungry as he believes starvation is the purest form of torture and punishment, he himself undergoing it as a punishment for everything he did to Ayla was pretty sad.
I did appreciate seeing him try to somewhat recover after Ayla's visit (a month after the events of the gala) and go after her, showing up at her house near campus and willing to cook and clean her house all while keeping his respectful distance from her. The fact he was even willing to have her physically beat him, spit on him, and break him down if that's what it took for her to forgive him?? And the way he was even willing to give all his men to her family or even give up power in the Bratva to help support her dreams?? UGH I LOVE THIS MAN.
Overall, I genuinely enjoyed this book and I loved seeing the many layers to Roman and seeing how he was willing to debase himself for her, and even having hit rock bottom without her being in his life. Roman is what I consider a really down bad MMC who yearns quite heavily. I really loved him and Ayla together, and I'm super glad they got back together in the end and that she could forgive him for doing her dirty with her trust in him.
At least now Ayla can really teach Roman how to properly love someone, and I'm happy that it's hinted at they both want kids in the future and that we see Mikhail and Lola pregnant with their own kid. This was such a sweet and fun story to read and I would so reread this again no hesitation.

My bad for having too much expectations on this book. The grovel was decent but for what Roman did to Ayla, nahh that’s not enough. He wronged her on so many level and even in the end she had to pause her study just because he couldn’t go back to being a pakhan without her. Sounds sweet but not when she had to sacrifice her dreams yet again.
Also why did Lola get so much time on page? Her story with Mikhail is done. No need to include them so much. Literally just ruined her character and I’m never going to read their book. And I’ll never forgive Roman for not protecting Ayla when Lola used her as a shield and threatened her during the gunfight. It’s literally his fault the Turks sent soldiers to retrieve their daughter back. What do you expect them to do? You held their daughter hostage and then rejected their offers just because you caught feelings and didn’t want to send Ayla back to her family 🙄
Oh this book just hit the spot! Second in the series and just as lovely as the first book. Roman was a flawed MMC and I enjoyed the chemistry between the two leads. Natalya was strong and loved so hard and tried her best. Roman's mistakes were paid for reverently by himself, and I thoroughly enjoy it. Excited for Part 3 so we can obtain Lara's HEA.
3⭐️. I liked the book and especially the first half where he takes her and she wants to feel a little more like home and get to know the people that are there. Then Ayla and Romans relationship grow like at first they refuse the feelings they have for eachother and that leads to sex, but the Turkis mafia attack them since Ayla is the mafia princess and then Roman humiliate her at their wedding and breaking her heart further when they got home by saying things he don’t mean driven by revenge and I hated that side of him I just thought he was so unnecessary cruel to her so the rest of the book he grovels to get her back.

God I love her Shes so funny the whole fountain scene was hilarious
Him storming up to him/. I was imagining an angry toddler man child hahah "Stop splashing me!" Roman thunders. Made me cackle His head snaps down so fast it almost looks like he’s broken his neck. Hes hard "You—! You—!" he stammers. Was so funny. Hes so unintentional;;ly funny
Her covering him with that blanket too?? A comedy I Leo how they joked with each other and were informal. Bickering] They make each other better she gets out of her shell and he gets to be human
Shes the peoples princess
This is the last tray. And she didn’t even think to save me one. Not a single piece. Not one slice set aside. -> sulky roman
His horror at her stomach rumbling
Im so glad she was smart and said she needed to pee when she was caught with emir. I would not have gotten out of that situation Also roman is so sweet
. I didn’t love them the last time she made them. Roman grunts from across the table, “She didn’t like this the last time.” -> oh my gosh this and the hospital; scenes give me a gun or sedate me
Not that it matters. When all this ends, it ends. He’ll return me, and this strange intimacy we’ve been building will disappear. We’ll go back to who we were before. Him, the powerful man no one crosses. Me, the memory. -> this line onwards. I love this book. It is cliche but perfect
Her baking the cake. Him covering her eyes
A man who just killed another not even an hour ago asked me for a kiss. -> vey hot and cold bro
HES ONLY KISSED HER!??!?! BRO
Punishment -> my poor baby . Hes really hurt. And damaged. Sometimes I forget about the characters I read and how much they have gone through. How difficult it must be to love them when they dont allow it
Okay we see Lola is still a magnetic baddie but cruel
Him calling her a mistake when shes been through hell hurts so bad. Poor girl
I’m burning her and her entire bloodline down to nothing but ash. -> Like bro her too?? What did she do
The wedding was horrible. I cant even find a way to spin this in all my delulu. My poor girl
EVEN THE NICKNAME moya ovechka means my sheep. No no no
The groveling better be insane. But I really like the build up. We saw their relationship build and crash. It’s good, organic. Well written
Matvey telling her the phone was tapped was so sweet and her trying to be scary and failing was so cute
Her clocking him was so satisfying but that extra bit of cruelty she sprinkled on didn’t feel good. She should have just went with the guilt trip. He was so presumptuous with that I want you to act like my wife spiel tho. Everything he says after that gave me the side eye ick combo
Im mad at him yes. But his pettiness and entitlement is funny
No more for ‘kebabs’ Emir -> like his thoughts make me lol\
I press my face into her pillow a-> he says after heading straight to her room after dinner. What a diva this man. Hes giving Napoleon
Honestly him even thinking about hurting emir after he gave her an out a way to escape is bonkers. Dont you see you are the bad guy?
I seriously respect her so much,. Her stabbing him was a woah moment bit the guilt and shock making her run is so understandable her not wanting to be like the rest of them
Why’re we mad at him? 1. Abandoned her after taking v card. I mean we know he returned would have returned eventually but he was in deep deep denial even after saying he would try 2. In his thoughts he said he would destroy her and her family. Like excuse me >?? Why is she in this scenario 3. Publicly embarrassed her at her wedding 4. Called her a whore after the wedding and mocked everything they had 5. Still expected her to act like a wife and was wondering why she was cold
But I do know this: he doesn’t get to decide he loves me only when my blood is drying on the ground. -> CLOCKED IT GIRL have that self respect good job giorlie
Okay the showering scene was good. Better . Id be confused too Ayla Him waiting and sleeping outside her door was good too He carries her so much that his stitches keep unraveling Guys the groveling is groveling
“When that Emir sent you flowers and you smiled I realized I never got you any” - okay I fold I fold. Im cheap. A whore. buy me off so easy why dont you. My anger would be gone after his post hospital care okay never mind his entitlement with her forgiving him ruined it then he made It better again oh its so confusing
Watching Aylas spark die is so sad. Him humiliating himself didnt feel enough because it wasn’t the same at all but at least he made the effort him fixing aces leg and her joy and spark returning briefly omg
That boy who was told he was nothing, who believed it. I won’t force her to carry him. -> every time she rejcts him or is extra cruel I feel for him so much. We are mad mainly about the wedding and his inability to fully choose her (but we can and have gotten past that), so its really only the wedding\\\
Does she know that she’s holding a shattered man, fractured down to the bone, still clawing to be worthy? -> HE GOT HER AN ACCPTANCE LETTER??? BROOO THE GROVELING THE HEART THE YEARNING and I feel he does deserve it my poor baby.
Dark rooms. Fists. Hunger so deep it chews at my bones. Days without food until the weakness itself became a lesson. Discipline through suffering. Always failing. Never enough. -> Hes genuinely traumatized and I take back everything I said bad about him.
Okay these volkov men grovel like no other
Still dont like Lola that much that halfhearted apology come on. I get she doesn’t do sorry and this was a big deal but my girl deserves the world
Him putting the house in her name was goals. I feel like the distance needed to last this long. He needed to go deep into how much he needs and wants her and she needed to experience life. i wish we saw more of her getting her spark back but the last scene was amazing. i loved how this book was well developed. This book ran coz the other crawled. loved it. loved their support to one another . only thing is i wished she was more nice to him about the bratva needing him back home. i wanted him to see that he was loved for him and him alone
"This is how men lose themselves—how empires crumble. Not from bullets. But from softness. From temptation wrapped in weakness." "She is both the source and the solution. My torment. My craving. My only tether to anything human." "Ayla is a war I can’t afford to lose" Roman is the pakhan , he is ruthless, tough and never smile. He doesn't know what love is and consider it a weakness. Ayla is the Turkish mafia princess who is nice ,kind , loves to bake and she is so small that he wants to protect her from everyone even from himself ❤️ ❤️ He is the devil and she is his little angel 🥰 Our book starts with Roman kidnapping Ayla due to her father mistake 😁and now she is a hostage at his mansion 🙈🙈 Also there is age gap between them 🥰🥰 Here are some of my favourite scenes or events 🥰🥰🥰 When she knows he never had a birthday cake and bakes him a cake and he asks her to sing for him ❤️❤️
When he is the mighty scared Bravta Pakhan who doesn't know the meaning of love , but when she gets attacked by wild dogs in the forest and he found her in a pool of her own blood, he orders his men to chase and to kill all the wild dogs , then he takes care of her , staying at her bed foot and watching her breathing.🥰🥰🥰 And he doesn't believe in love and doesn't know what love is 😳😳 When she wants to take a shower and doesn't want him inside as he hurt her emotionally and she doesn't want any physical interaction with him, he simply apologize and ask her to let him take car of her as he needs to make sure she is safe , he needs to make sure she is breathing and when she started to argue, this is his reply : " let me do this so I can breathe. Please. Let me help you. If I can’t, I’ll lose my mind.” 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 He said please , he is begging 🙈🙈 I can't believe it , he was a true monster till the moment she got hurt 🥰🥰 But this book show us that monsters are never born this way , they are made by their parents or by the situations they are raised in. I feel bad for Roman and all his memories and the food punishment, oh my god what kind of a normal parent do that to his own child 😭 😭 When her childhood friend and bodyguard brings her flowers and she smiles then the Pakhan brings all kind of flowers for her and when she asked why , this is his answer "When that Emir sent you flowers and you smiled… I realized I’d never given you any. Not acceptable. No man woos my wife but me.”
This was an amazing mafia romance including age gap , touch her and die , and everything that mafia girls love and need ❤️❤️❤️ enjoyed everything about this book 🥰🥰🥰
This book is a little cliche. It's yet another mafia Bratva vs Turkish mafia. The Turkish princess is kidnapped by the Bratva Pakhan who lives and breathes Bratva.
Ayla is the daughter of the Turkish mafia leader and has tried her best to make everyone happy her whole life. She accepts her role and knows that she will eventually be told who to marry and when. But when Roman, the Bratva Pakhan, kidnaps her for leverage over her father, she finds herself in uncharted water.
Roman is hard edges, raised to be the next Bratva leader, he lived through a horrible childhood as training. Ayla blends in with the household, makes friends with the servants and soldiers alike. In the background, Roman watches her like a hawk. He starts to feel something foreign. When he takes her virginity, he spits it back into her face more than once, leaving her broken and angry.
Her father opens fire on Roman's estate and that spells the end for Roman and Ayla as they knew it. He breaks Ayla's spirit in the aftermath, and it will be his undoing.
When she tries to escape and is severely injured, Roman finally comes to the fact that he cannot lose her. He grovels and begs but it's no good.
It's only when he lets her go that they both realize the truth.
This story is just, meh. It's been done so many times, just different names. I do have to say though, there were times that I had a tear in my eye because there are parts that are really just heartbreaking. The spice is less than a 1 so the story wasn't held together by any spicey scenes, mores the pity. There was room for it, but it wasn't there. I read this book in less than a day so it's a quick read. But I think the cover misled me to think that it was spicier than it was. Overall, the story is kind of beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. He's over the top obsessed and transforms from a mean ogre to a lovesick brute. Sometimes, tigers really do change their stripes.
nova Black is slowly but surely becoming my go-to for ANGSTY/GROVEL HEART BREAKING TOP TIER ROMANCE. i mean these guys F- UP but ohmygod do they grovel on their damn KNEES! I LOVE IT. i honestly was hesitant to read Romans book cause i thought in no way could he be redeemed, he was just too dark and too mean (and just like damon in killswitch,) ROMAN MAY JUST BE MY FAVOURITE. To give a quick run down this book is basically him kidnapping her and creating every excuse in the book to keep from giving her back to ber family and her sorta giving in to Stockholm's syndrome. But the real kicker is when shes finally getting him to open up and he takes her v-card and says he doesnt know if he could love but he'll try. then he basically leaves for a few days right after. His big mistake is forcing her into marriage and then essentially calling her a ho, saying so many awful things to her. One absolutely awesome thing i loved about this book was how Ayla said she couldnt forgive him just bc she almost died and BOOM! THAT is one thing i cant stand happening in books, character has a near death experience and suddenly everything is forgiven right? not in this banger. lol The ONLY issue i had with this book...was the ending, it ended absolutely beautifully dont get me wrong BUT they start worrying about her getting pregnant and he ofc wants that but also worries he might not love their kid cause ya know he believes he's not capable of loving anyone other than her so I WOULDVE LOVED a bit of the epilogue to see Roman fall in love with their baby cause i just know he does. who knows maybe itll be in the next book? but i WANTED THAT SCENE SO BAD!
i picked up this book thinking its a short typical mafia romance (i didnt know it was a series) but what i didnt expect was the groveling part and im not sure how i feel about it. i really liked the book until the groveling phase came. i was excited to see him try to win her favor but i cringed when he started crawling to her and pouting…….this is a grown man thats we are speaking of. he was painted as this strong cold influential man and then during his groveling phase he just decided to lock himself in his room and cry and cling onto her. a part of me liked that he wanted to change for her and its honestly refreshing to see a mafia boss actually admit what he did was wrong. but another part of me thought it was childish. its one thing to beg for forgiveness and chase someone who consumes your thoughts and its another thing to simply cry like a kid and ignore all your responsibilities (his job). i also wish i got to see more of her achieving her dreams but honestly it was a good read, if sad pitiful men crawling to kiss your feet is your taste then bon appetite this is the one for you, but i personally didnt like that.

After a long time, I actually enjoyed an enemies-to-lovers story because they truly gave each other both hell and heaven.
There’s this one chapter that stood out—early in their dynamic, before they were even a “thing.” The MMC, frustrated and confused by his pull toward the FMC, went to a club just to drown her out of his head. But when an OW tried to touch him, he pushed her away. In that moment, it hit him—no distraction would work. What he really wanted was her—her scent, her light, her touch.
I was deep into the character at that time, i understood his turmoil because he doesn't know what love is and feelings are... his world was all brutal and blood everywhere, I must say, when he fell in love, he really fell—straight to his knees. What I loved most about him was that he was willing to give up his entire kingdom just for her. And that grovel? So satisfying that I actually started to feel a little pity for him.
The Fmc is damn strong. Looking forward for Lara's story.

Having read Lola and Mickhails story I somewhat anticipated this one, and it did not disappoint.
Roman and Ayla, on the surface couldn’t be more different and seemingly wrong for one another, he’s the cold, unfeeling Pakhan who was raised in and only taught violence. She’s the Mafia Princess, who feels too much and only wants to show kindness. But, when they come together it’s like an explosion and they complete each other in unexpected ways, she softens his harsh edges and teaches him how to love and he allows her to be free in a way that she has never been before.
The plot is fantastic, it’s kind of got a Beauty and the Beast edge to it, their story is filled with angst and self punishment and their journey to a HEA is anything but easy as Roman is his own worst enemy, but it’s definitely worth the read, I honestly loved it and can’t wait to see what’s next.
So listen i really really liked this book, it was small and i loved it cause i wanted a quick small read where i would feel hurt and love. I loved the fact that MMC groveled and i mean GROVELED(in some books they don’t as much as he did). Also i loved how i could associate myself with MFC(her soft heart and everything). One thing i didn’t like was the fact that while groveling, it seemed like she thought everything(the way he groveled) was her fault and id feel the same way, so it was really uneasy feeling because he did things that felt like it was guilt tripping(MY opinion and just mine). Otherwise, i liked the book. Happy reading Y’all! I promise you wont waste your time!
