The School of Art

Rate this book

Triggs, Teal The School of Art 90 pgs. Wide Eyed 2015. $19.99 NON-FICTION

This large book features four different professors with differing styles, giving mini art lessons to the readers. Its divided into 3 terms, like a school year, with a total of 40 different concept lessons. There are simple illustrational examples of the various concepts and descriptions. Examples include What is Symmetry and What is Rhythm in art and What do we mean by Aesthetics?

This book is filled with harmonious and varied illustrations. I found it kind of monotone when so much of art could have been included that can pop and excite. The lessons might be helpful to a serious art student, but I think an art enthusiast might be kind of bored. I would like to see some challenges and tasks for the reader to help bring the ‘lesson’ to life.
