The Titans #2

Double Down

Rate this book
The stakes are higher. The Titans want more. And this time, she’s all in.

Four men who own her body.
Four hearts she shouldn’t want to keep.
And a dangerous game where the prize is her truth.

Phoenix Jones swore she’d stand by her Titans—love them, steady them, be the woman who keeps their empire from crumbling. But the longer she stays in their gilded cage, the more blood stains the floor.
If she leaves, she’s dead.
If she stays, they might be.

They know she’s hiding something.
The bet is the first one to make her trust him, completely, wins. But winning her secrets might be the very thing that destroys them.

Mafia demands. A dirty cop with proof of murder. A stolen shipment that could ignite a war. And a clock that’s running out fast.

In a world where loyalty is power and love is the ultimate weakness, Phoenix will have to gamble everything—her body, her heart, and maybe her life.

Double Down is book two in the sinful, addictive Titans series—a dark reverse harem where danger is foreplay and the house always wins.

I have not stopped thinking about this book since that cliffhanger in book one, and let me tell you, the action just keeps going in book two! No time has lapsed, we jump right in to it and I was immediately hooked! Still lots of 🌶️ but also the plot is holding strong. My only slight negative is that I felt book two kind of went in circles… just a tiny bit. Like the author was trying to fill space… but honestly I still read every word!
Phoenix dives in a little deeper with each guy and their personal relationships, and the angst and misunderstanding between Conrad and Phoenix will drives me CRAZY!
I can’t wait to get to book three and see where they all end up! Will the house win?

We continue after book one and Phoenix and the guys are growing closer but she's still hiding something. The story includes many twists and turns along the way. Ends on a cliffhanger.

Book 2 begins right where Book 1 left off. This is a duet, so you do need to read the previous book before this one.

There is so much that goes on in this book that I don't want to give too much away, so I'll keep it short. We're back with Atticus, Maverick, Storm, and Con, who seem to have a push-and-pull in their relationship with Phoenix. They all (including Phoenix) are trying to sort out their real feelings as all of them seem to have some level of trust issues. I did wish there was a little more communication between the characters, but I get why the secrets are hidden. The story is filled with twists, mystery, and suspense as they try to figure out who is behind all the things happening at the hotel/casino.

You can tell that there is a strong connection between the 5 of them, even if they aren't able to admit it, and it leads to some super steamy scenes! The relationships grow even stronger as they work toward a common enemy.

This does end on a cliffhanger, so we'll have to wait until book 3 to figure out the rest!

Suspenseful, Sinister, and Salacious…

Within the hotel/casino industry lurk shadowy corridors where all agencies capitalize. Politicians, holding and controlling through gambling, liquor, and operating licenses, use and abuse the industry from fund raising to bribery inducement to blackmail manipulation. Drug trafficking and prostitution loom starting within the rooms and extending into a labyrinth of halls, elevators, and stairwells.

Four men, children of industry giants have inherited a hotel casino located in southern charming city of Savannah, Georgia. Unfortunately, these 4 have left a trail of damage of deliberate and delinquent abuse of their inherited wealth and privilege. United, always realizing individual strengths, the boys have attained education, power, and status.

However, their parents have abandoned them leaving for Europe and other properties while forcing the group to rectify problems the hotel casino has recently encountered. The men have also battled with the love-hate relationship with an orphaned employee, a girl they have known since childhood, a girl who grew up within the hotel as her widower father, a hotel repairman and maintenance employee used the hotel employees as childcare.

When this orphaned daughter Phoenix is threatened and nearly killed, the four men, all identifying as Titans, rally to her rescue. Unfortunately, their protection of her proves to be a weakness for their affection for her blinds them and distracts them.

Warning, just as prior book ended with a cliffhanger, so does this book.

Book 2 did NOT disappoint at all! It starts right where book 1 left off and I always like that in series because it gets us readers right back into the story. I was so excited to see that this book was going to get released too because I loved book 1! *** You NEED to read book 1 before this one!! They are not stand-alones and there are events that happen in book 1 that get spoiled in book 2***

After the events that ended book 1, Phoenix and the Titans are pretty shaken up about what they came home to and the events that have been happening, and it's about to get even worse. Someone is bringing in drugs into the hotel, on top of a bunch of other things, that are spreading the Titans really thin with their time with Phoenix. Speaking of her, she's being blackmailed by the people who helped with her dad's debt, and to make matters worse, she isn't telling the Titans about it...

I have been anticipating this read for a while because the first one was so good! I'm so happy that there is going to be a third one and I hope it comes out soon! Evie does such a great job writing in five different POVs and making them all sound different and giving them their personalities on the page. She is a very talented writer and this one is no different!.

You know those books that have you hooked from the beginning? The ones that capture you and you read in one setting? This book!!! That's what it does.
From the romance, the adventure, the chase, the mystery, and everything else that pops up along the way!
Characters that you come to love and are laughing and crying along with them? Even finding yourself angry when injustice falls their way. Great, great book!!
As always, with a great book, it ends in a cliffhanger and makes you need the next book immediately!! Great job. I love this one more than the 1st, which surprises me!!! I can't wait to see how this story ends. Hopefully, with the Titans and Phoenix getting their revenge/justice for those creating the chaos in their lives!

Thank you goes out to the author and booksprout who gave me the opportunity to read this eARC for an honest review. You knocked it out of the park!!

Double Down picks up right where the first book leaves off. Phoenix and the guys are still reeling from finding a dead body in their suite. The group can barely deal with this issue before a new one pops up. The Titans parents have decided to throw them a curve ball and demand that they not only take over the resort, but to deliver increased metrics. While that's happening, Phoenix is still dealing with threats. The guys are trying to show their parents they can meet the expectations given but someone is clearly trying to sabotage them. Peppered throughout all the drama and suspense are some very hot sex scenes and development of the relationship between Phoenix and her men. They are finally starting to realize Phoenix may truly be one of them and she is starting to learn whether she can trust them. This book does end on a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book.

ARC review: I REALLY enjoyed book 2 - even more than book 1. I love seeing all of the guys' relationships progress with Phoenix (even Conrad!) and getting more of their history with her, and even some of the history on their own lives and traumas.

There were SO many times where I just wanted to yell at Phoenix to tell the guys what was going on, so I was happy when she finally did - even if it was much later than she should have. And the cliffhanger.. eep! I'm ready to see Conrad burn the world down to get Phoenix back - and then hopefully a whole lot of groveling from him once she is back. 👀

The spice was great & the action was great - it made the story move quickly and smoothly. Overall it was a great read for me!

I’m completely hooked on Phoenix and her Titans! This 2nd book is just as much dirty fun, but there’s more suspense and drama as they search for an enemy. I love the story: Evie Rae answers questions about their backgrounds and how they each touch each other’s lives. It helped me feel their pain, understand their feelings towards each other, and marvel at Phoenix’s affect on each man! Con, Maverick, Atticus, and Stone are still playing games and making bets, but the truth remains that she’s means so much more. She’s been treated so badly in the past that she finds it difficult to tell her secrets, but she’s also protecting her men! The cliffhanger is heartbreaking and scary with so many questions left!! I can’t wait for the next book and for them to finally resolve their relationship!!.

Ugh a third part to come!!! My anxiety can’t handle this!!!
Ok, first, little boys playing big boy games, but they play them better. Second, the games are breaking all their hearts and one, maybe two, refuses to see it. Third, a girl that loves too much and tries to prove herself assuming she will never be chosen. Fourth, someone in the dark playing with their lives. And fifth, the absolute worst parents on the planet!
All this culminates in some highly erotic games of pain and pleasure, punishment and reward. Games guys this age shouldn’t know how to play yet, but learned young. Entitlement earned through their own painful experiences. And a girl who could bring it all crashing down around them, or save them all.

Phoenix is feeling more brave when it comes to speaking up and telling the guys what she wants. She is drawing in Atticus, Storm, Conrad and Maverick. They want her to choose to stay with them. But they know that she's hiding things and trying to get her to tell them is almost a game.

But there is so much going on. The Titans parents left them in charge, so they can prove they can take over. Bodies still popping up. Sabotages at their Casino's. Bad men after Phoenix for her father's debts.

No one is safe. And Phoenix just wants to help and stand by her men but they won't let her. So she feels she needs to take matters into her own hands to keep all 4 Titans out of jail.

This book definitely ends on another cliffhanger. And it'll leave you in suspense.

I absolutely loved Double Down! This book literally started right where House Rules left off, pulling me right back into the world of Phoenix and the Titans and keeping me hooked the entire way through. The chemistry and spice between Phoenix and the boys is perfect and the tension just builds in the best way possible. Phoenix’s character growth made me love her even more, and the Titans all bring something different to the table that makes it easy to fall for each one. The emotional moments hit just right, and the spice was steamy, passionate, and perfectly balanced with the story. This series keeps getting better and more addictive with every book. I’m already counting down to the next one!

Double Down: second book in the series

Phoenix and The Titans 🥰

Second book in The Titans series and this one is the best so far!!! This book is part of a four books. It’s more focused to know better each characters. Each men, Conrad, Storm, Maverick and my favourite Atticus relationship with Phoenix. You get to know the why, what and how they all , in a way, felt in love with her. And they all know she can’t choose any of them but all of them. She’s becoming part of their little group and she knows that they are very important to her.
We have some of the mysteries resolved in this book but not the main cause. And it ends in a cliff hanger for the third book The Wild Card… Will Phoenix past comes and destroys them or will make them stronger and more powerful? 5 ⭐️

I couldn't wait to read more into the story of Phoenix and her Titans after book one. Well let me tell you, book two did NOT disappoint. They story just got better the more you read and the relationships spicier and more intense. This book has more shady going ons and never ending drama. We see Phoenix speaking up a bit more and voicing her opinions which I loved and just draws the Titans in even more. I have been happily immersed into their world so much that I couldn't put this one down until I finished it.

I am impatiently patiently waiting for the next chance to deep dive even further into their story.

With the character development and story being explained in the first book, this book was a faster pace with twists along the way until the cliffhanger at the end! The love that they have for each other and their denial of admitting those feelings to her causes so much tension and trust issues between them. I enjoyed seeing how much they really do want her to be theirs. They each love her in their own way but its all the ways she needs after her life. Maverick is so hard on himself and it breaks my heart to see how he cant just accept that he has a role in the Titans. I am looking forward to the last and final and hoping for an HEA!

3.5 ⭐
I have not stopped thinking about book 1 since I read it so I was buzzing to see the ARC for this!! This started straight off from the cliffhanger in book one and I was immediately hooked. This book was definitely more plot driven than spice driven like the first book. I could feel myself wanting more about phoenix’s relationships and tension with the titans and not as interested in the drama as I should have been! But overall the series is so good and that cliffhanger has left me desperate for book 3!! I love the titans so much 😩🥺

This is the second book in the series and it captured my attention just like the first one. While it is a little slow at the beginning once it picks up you cant help but keep reading. All the chaos and stress keeps you coming back to see how its dealt with. While I hate a cliff hanger I love that there is more coming for these characters and the author didn't rush to wrap up the store in a nice bow by the end of this book. Hopefully Phoenix and her Titans are about to get themselves out of the mess they've gotten themselves into.

This book was amazing. The Titans are rich, four guys. Phoenix was picked to watch over them. She signed the contract for money and to pay off her died father's debt to the Mob. She used to be in a relationship with Con. She left and broke his heart and he wanted revenge. Girls go missing, employees become a no call no show. I'm definitely excited to read book two to find out even more. Drugs are being brought into there place and people are saying they are the ones give it out. Definitely a good read.

Wow, that ending was intense! Another great book that has me completely hooked on this series.

I really like that we get so much insight into the characters’ thoughts, but my goodness, they can be frustrating at times. I’d love to see more dialogue between the MCs, especially some of the conversations that really need to happen (Phoenix and Con *cough cough*), instead of so much internal monologue.

We finally get more of the history between Phoenix and the boys, and their relationships are really starting to develop into something deeper. That said, Con seriously needs to get over himself (which he is starting to FINALLY), and Phoenix needs to stop making such reckless decisions. She can be so frustrating at times!

Everything really ramps up toward the end of this book. The pace becomes intense and keeps you on the edge. It does get a little confusing for a moment with the mob interactions and the introduction of the syndicate, but it’s exciting to see everything start to come together. I must admit, I do feel bad for them at times, and I’m fully convinced the parents are behind everything.

There was one small moment in Chapter 37 (Storm’s POV) that read like Phoenix was the one speaking. Possibly just a tiny editing slip, but it stood out.

This series has me totally hooked, and I’m desperate for the next book. Even though Phoenix drives me up the wall sometimes, the characters are growing and evolving, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Double Down is book 2 of The Titans and picks up Phoenix, Con, Atticus, Storm and Maverick's story where House Rules leaves off. Phoenix and her Titans are back in a huge way! This book, much like House Rules is full of drama, intrigue, suspense, twists, turns and secrets that seem to pop out at every corner. Just when you think things are finally coming together you get hit with another twist. Then there's that ending! I can't wait for Wild Card!

The second instalment of this series is just as fantastic as the first one, the dynamic between Phoenix and her Titans is intense, sexy, loving and beautiful. Questions from the first book have been answered but more questions arose with this one. There’s intrigue, suspense, sexy times, love and all the feels in this story. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Oh wow, this was a ride from start to finish. I was again hooked by the first chapter. The dynamics between the characters kept on growing, and you could not anticipate the plot, so there were allot of suprise developments you will not see coming. Loved how the 4 guys really steped up in this book and pushed Phoenix to grow, and lean more on them. Can't wait untill the next book as the book ends in a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed continuing on this why choose journey. Lots of tension, spice and suspense. Less spice than book one but a lot more plot. I did feel Phoenix had less fire this book but that did not take away from my enjoyment of the story. Ends on a cliffhanger so I am really looking forward to the the third book.

Thank you for letting me read this ARC and I would definitely recommend this book for your Why Choose TBR :)

This book is the second in the series and I was eagerly awaiting its arrival. After finishing the first one, I didn't know how I was going to survive the wait. I absolutely love Phoenix and her Titans and was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book. This one ends with a cliffhanger like the first book did, but I'm sure that the wait for book 3 will be worth it. Pick up a copy today.

I recently finished the second book in this series, and overall, I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars. The story was engaging, with some great character development and intriguing plot twists. However, I was a bit surprised to realize it’s actually part of a trilogy. Nevertheless, it’s a compelling read that kept me interested throughout, and I will continue with the third book.
