This novel is vivid and emotionally resonant, telling the warrior queen's story in a new and imaginative way. The author blends myth with feminist vision to create a heroine who is both formidable and deeply, personally human. A few pacing shifts in the first third of the book slowed the momentum briefly but the rich fabric of the story and powerful theme of sisterhood more than carried the story through to its end.
I would recommend this for fans of mythology, historical fiction, and strong female characters. Definitely a great way to pass the time while travelling!

Penthesilea: Rise of an Amazon is a bold and beautifully written reimagining of one of mythology’s most overlooked warriors. Stephanie gives Penthesilea real depth showing her not just as a fighter, but as a woman shaped by pain, loyalty, and an unshakable drive to prove herself.
The world feels vivid, the sisterhood among the Amazons is heartfelt, and Penthesilea’s journey from underestimated girl to legendary warrior is both inspiring and emotional. Even knowing the myth, her final clash with Achilles still hits hard.
A strong, compelling feminist retelling that fans of Circe and The Song of Achilles will appreciate. A fantastic debut.
