This was a great book. It's a story about Mike Bones, who moves to a new town and, on his first day at a new school, has a run-in with the school bully who decides Mike is his mortal enemy. Mike also notices Tina, the head cheerleader who he instantly falls for, love at first sight. As the day goes on, Mike hits it off with Demetris, and they become best friend. Then Mike gets an invite to play Ghost in the graveyard, and although Demetris tries to talk him out of it, he goes because Tina will be there. Little did he know that his life was fixing to change forever.
The story goes on to tell what happens at the graveyard and how life circumstances and constant bullying can drastically change a person. It is a great story that I loved. A definite five-star read for me and a book I will definitely be recommending to all my friends.

This genre is not one I read a lot of but this author always has a way of pulling me into the story. Mike Bones and his family move to a new town. He wants to fit in, so he does what a bunch of the kids do and he goes to the cemetery to play a game…only the game turns into a nightmare.

This is a book perfect to read over the Hallowe'en season.

Mike Minicky has crafted a story that is a blend of mystery, thriller, with intense spooky vibes and love.

It is set in the town of Clover Hill, where Mike Bones (awesome name) and his family have moved to from the busy hustle and bustle of the city. Mike quickly makes a name for himself as a quick-witted teen, who doesn't like the mistreatment of his peers by the local bully. He falls into a cool crowd of teens, headed by Demetris, who is Captain of the football team, but also a kind and wise friend.

Mike, initially interested in cheerleader Tina, is invited to the local cemetery, Burke Cemetery, for the Friday night Cemetery Games. He goes thinking he might get lucky, but instead he meets another girl called Emily. From this point on the story and the supernatural elements really ramp up and it is a roller coaster of action, suspense and touches of the romantic. It is well written to time and place and brings the reader back to a time that was simpler, but complicated by its own troubled past.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and will I think fans of all things spooky will enjoy this paranormal, supernatural mystery. Highly recommended for this season of spooky reading.

Graveyard Games: Review

This book was so much more than I expected, in the best way!

It starts with normal teenage troubles at school and launches into haunting mystery, ramping up to terror, and peaking with absolute horrors that left me unable to put the book down.
The ending had me in tears.

This is such an incredible story, both horrific and beautiful, filled with tender moments, heros, friends and nightmares that we can only hope will never come out of the pages.

Mike is a master storyteller. I loved this book. The setting was perfect, the year laid the stage and the characters walked it with purpose that never left one feeling anything but excited to dive deeper into the story.
Be prepared to read this in one sitting and not sleep.
It's exceptional.

I can't wait to read more of Mike's books.

This book had me hooked from the very first page. Graveyard Games isn’t just a spooky story it’s pure Hitchcock-level suspense wrapped in a small-town mystery that refuses to let you breathe until the very heartbreaking end.

Mike Bones moves to Clover Hill for his senior year, hoping for a normal start; new friends, maybe a crush, but instead he ends up in Burke’s Cemetery playing a “harmless” game that turns into a nightmare. From that moment on, the tension never lets up. You can feel that “bomb under the table” kind of dread Hitchcock talked about; the reader knows something terrible is coming long before the characters do. It’s that slow, delicious fear that keeps your heart racing.

The atmosphere is incredible. Clover Hill feels alive, almost like it’s keeping secrets of its own. The cemetery, the empty streets, the flickering lights, everything feels like part of the threat. Hitchcock used architecture as a kind of character in his films, and that’s exactly what Minicky does here. The cemetery and the whole town itself becomes part of the horror.

What I loved most, though, was how real the characters feel. Mike isn’t just a typical teen in a horror story; he’s smart, loyal, and vulnerable in all the right ways. His friendship with Demetris gives the story warmth, and even the romantic moments have this beautiful sense of hope that makes the darker turns hit harder.

There’s also that fear of the unknown, those moments where you see something in the shadows but can’t quite name it. The way Minicky builds those scenes, showing us just enough through Mike’s eyes, creates an empathy and closeness that’s rare in paranormal thrillers.

By the end, I was completely emotionally wrecked, in the best way possible. It’s terrifying, heartfelt, and unexpectedly beautiful. The last chapters gave me chills and tears.

If you love spooky reads with real suspense, mystery, friendship, and heart, Graveyard Games is an absolute must. It’s the kind of book you stay up all night reading and then sleep with the lights on.

A gripping tale

When Mike Bones moves into town all he wants to do is fit in. Despite the warning his newfound best friend gives him, he goes to the graveyard with some of his classmates only to find a girl he believes he's destined to be with. But what he didn't expect was that he would get mixed into a future with a very violent outcome.

This story had me intrigued from beginning to end. The story itself was bone chilling, sending chills down my spine with the villains that lay within the words of the book. The things Mike does for the girl he's fallen completely in love with is extraordinary. And the things you learn About the ghosts within keeps you interested throughout. Not to mention the absolute heartwarming ending the author gave us.

Ghosts, graveyards, witchcraft, plus so much more.
What an excellent book. Wow.

In this story, we meet Mike Bones. He's the new kid--teenager--in town and in school.
He befriends a group of teens who invite him to Burke's Cemetery to play Graveyard Games.

From there, the story takes right off. Each chapter ramps up the stakes and tension until the end. The twists and turns make you have to keep reading. I finished this book in two sittings.

There's also a touching love story--which is really the driving force behind Mike Bones' actions.

The villain, Abraham, is such a cold, cruel character. He definitely had that creep factor, in spades. What he does to one the characters in the story... No spoilers. You have to read it to find out, but holy freaking yikes.

I highly, highly recommend this book. It was incredible.
Five 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 for The Graveyard Games. Bravo!
