Single mom Amy Knoxx thought her new business—posing as a girlfriend, fiancée, or wife—would solve her financial troubles. Instead, it pulls her into a web of obsession and danger.
When wealthy but unstable Nolan hires Amy as his fiancée, things spiral out of control. A stalker’s shadow looms over her life, and things turn deadly when Amy finds a body in her shed.
As Amy and Jordan, a guarded client with his own secrets, try to navigate the fallout, Amy’s son, Sawyer, is kidnapped, leaving her to confront the terrifying Nolan wasn’t the only one stalking her every move. But who else has their eyes set on her?
I absolutely loved this book! I was kept guessing the entire time. Twist after twist after TWIST! The characters were so distinct in their own way. The writing was great. I loved seeing familiar indie supporters being highlighted as characters, because I could SEE them even clearer in my mind.
Amy Knoxx is a single Mum to her son Sawyer. She's broke and needs to find some extra money - fast. She decides to hire herself out as a 'wife', 'girlfriend', or 'fiancée'. It's easy money, and, no 'horizontal tangos' are required 👀 (that's a hard rule).
It's very lucrative and she can have two or three clients at once! Sounds great right?
No.
It becomes dangerous, a dead body is involved, and an obsessive stalker 😱.
One of her clients is Jordan. He comes with his own trauma and secrets, and is also ONLY interested in a platonic relationship....
Suddenly, Amy's son Sawyer is kidnapped and it would appear that there are a few people closely watching Amy.
Will Amy find Sawyer and who are the people making her life a living nightmare????
BOOM!!! So many jaw-dropping twists and turns. I love that some of your wonderful reader's have a part, that was so cool. There's Jaime and her extremely unhinged provocative behaviour, and Elaine who's a curtain-twitching sticky beak who cracked me up 😂.
The narrative is suspenseful, emotionally charged, and truly gripping. I was completely blindsided by the shocking end, like WTAF???? I've given up on trying to guess your endings, epic fail.
Thanks Jessica, I've now read eight of your books and loved them all. You have the ability to pull me into your stories immediately and I always look forward to continuing my current read of yours after work.
Review time! Keeping you Close by Jessica Lynn Sorenson!
Why am I just now reading her books? Lord a mercy the beginning took on a heat all its own!
Ok Financial problems! Let’s hustle some quick fast cash! Hell I agree! She’s needing money for her son and struggling. I get it! I do! So now we gotta take on assignments with BIG cash! Hell yeah. Being a fake girlfriend, playing the part. Oh and the fake fiancé omg!
Here we go! Amy is being stalked. Her son is kidnapped.
This book leaves you breathless flowing through the pages! Fast paced and suspenseful, the words leap off the pages captivating you!
Five stars for the plot, the way this book leaves you breathless as the characters are brilliant. The intrigue and mystery flow.
This duet of books 1 & 2 were the first I’ve read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. The premise hooked me right away, a single mom running a girlfriend-for-hire business? I was in.
The beginning was a bit slow, but once the tension kicked in, the story took off and stayed intense. From there, things go off the rails quickly with stalking, obsession, murder, constant danger and a kidnapping that added real emotional weight.
Amy, our FMC, is flawed, relatable and fiercely protective of her son, which made her easy to root for even when her choices were questionable. Everything starts to unravel when she gets involved with Nolan, whose behavior turns dark and unsettling.
Jordan became the emotional anchor for me. He’s guarded, dealing with his own trauma and his slow-building connection with Amy felt grounded in trust and safety rather than instant romance.
There are heavy themes, darker moments and twists I didn’t see coming. Overall, this read more like a romantic suspense than a straight romance - tense, emotional, character-driven, and easy to binge. If you like romantic thrillers with lots of twists and drama, this is worth checking out.
What a whirlwind of greatness! I loved everything about this story, couldn't put it down! Hoping there is another one coming because I'm reeling from the ending!!
What a wild, addictive ride! “Keeping You Close” by Jessica Lynn Sorensen is a perfect blend of humor, suspense, and heart. Amy’s knack for getting herself into trouble is both hilarious and heartbreaking, making her story impossible to put down. Sorensen masterfully balances comedy with tension, filling both books with twists, emotional moments, and nonstop surprises. I loved watching Amy’s character grow stronger and more complex as she stumbled from one mess to another while still being haunted by her past. These books are entertaining, gripping, and so much fun—I can’t wait to see what happens next!
If you loved A Stranger Within, and Whispering Rain, this is a must read! I loved or hated all the characters (sometimes both, at the same time), and got dizzy from all the twists and turns. Jessica throws a lot of humour in this book as well. A must read, if you are a fan of Detective Caleb Reed!
I loved Keeping You Close! It’s packed with twists and turns, and Jessica does a fantastic job building suspense. I also love when a book makes me laugh—this one definitely did several times. There are moments that are quite sad, too, which just shows how well the characters are developed.
The premise: Amy Knox, a single mother in desperate need of a job, struggles to find anything that materializes—until she comes up with a brilliant idea. She offers herself as a pretend girlfriend or fiancée for people who need one. But along the way, she meets some questionable characters, and things don’t go nearly as smoothly as she hoped.
My absolute favorite character is Elaine. She freaking cracks me up. I giggled so many times. She's the perfect comic relief to a wild, twisty, drama filled thriller.
I was cheering Amy on from the start. Starting as a struggling single mother to growing her confidence and strength.
There is so much crazy packed on to those pages. Things I never saw coming. I loved it start to finish.
This was a really good book! Originally published in 2 parts, you are getting a bonus by getting this edition with both parts combined in one book! First, i have to say that i absolutely LOVE this cover! So cool!
Now for the story inside. When I was reading the first part, I thought I had it figured out but then so much started happening and I was so very wrong! So good!
Part 2 was also great! It tied up a lot of what was going on in the first part and then right at the end came an extra bombshell! Well done!
This book has great characters and a great story. This was really good! Definitely recommend this series.
