I really loved how Jen tied up this trilogy! Wow what an ending!! We really get to see Wren develop her sense of self love and learn to fully trust herself—it’s a great form of healing for her given all she’s been through. The story picks up right from the end of book 2!! Tyran and Wren both face major trauma and somehow find ways to balance being the pillar for each other when one of them needs to break down and the other needs to be strong. I loved seeing Mennew break out of his shell in this book—so sassy! The warlocks in general are just so much more than I thought at the beginning of this journey, and that’s exactly their point lol. So many new creatures are introduced as well due to Ismael’s use of the portals. I’m sad to see the end of Wren and Tyran’s journey and to not know more about Oona and Gunnar (and a certain other couple wink wink), but I’m very content with how everything came to be resolved and how the alliance came together for the final battle against Ismael!

What an epic conclusion to this series, there was adventure, battle scenes and twists at every turn and I couldn’t put this down as I sat on the edge of my seat until I finished it! This book picks up right where the last left off with Wren and Tyran being separated and Tyran seemingly crossed over and working for the dark side. But everything is not what it seems and Ismael has more power and control than they realized and Tyran must break free and return to his love so they can work together to stop the end of their world as they know it.

I loved getting to see the returning cast of characters and the bond grow between Tyran and Wren and their trust and love for each other deepened. I also loved Gunnar and Oona’s relationship progression and getting to see parts of the story from their POV as well to get more insight into how they are surviving everything happening. There were several returning characters from previous books I enjoyed that they got to reunite with for the upcoming battle as well as some new characters and even a pet horse for Oona! I loved watching them all work together and strategize and do everything they could to bring their people together to stop Ismael, as well as unlocking the full potential of the powers of both Tyran and Wren. Overall I really enjoyed this magic system and crusading storyline and while there was some heartbreak and loss, I really am happy with the ending and my rating 4.4/5!

Burn the forest to kill the wolves.

Third installment in the Light in the Shadows series filled with magic and epic battles, thrilling adventures and some serious monsters, twists and turns, majestic realms and multiple POVs, a sprinkle of romance and beautiful friendships.

This story follows Wren who is separated from her mate Tyran. She is determined to not only save her people but her love who is under the control of Ismael. Using Tyran as his weapon, Ismael will stop at nothing to destroy all of the realms and consume the aura and powers from those he eliminates. With her shadow magic and its hidden secrets, Wren alone can unleash the power needed to stop the darkness threatening her realm and save her mate.

“What do you want?” Tyran grunted. “Your Shadows.”
Well written and a relatively easy story to follow that lets the imagination soar. Although I have not read the first two books, I was able to figure things out and not be too terribly lost. But I would recommend reading the first two installments for full impact and enjoyment of the story.

The Shadows of the Crown by Jen Bliton is the last book in the series by the author. The world building is well written and it reminds me of another well written classic fantasy. In the last book, Wren and Tyran were separated and it looks like Tyran is working for the dark side. But of course that is not the case and Tyran is trying to get away from Ismael who has more power then one can possibly imagine. And Wren is also determined to save Tyran from Ismael and also her people. You can read this one as a stand alone book if you need, however you should read the first two books also to get more out of the series. This is a great romatansy book series if you are looking for a new one with well written characters and more!

What an epic finale that doesn’t disappoint! It was action-packed and full of emotion! There were so many ups and downs with this one I could hardly put it down!

I loved Tyran and Wren in this one! I thoroughly enjoyed their journey and their growth throughout. There were a lot of struggles for the both of them in this one and the high stakes… so good!!

Another thing that I loved was their friends and comrades! The found family and love throughout was heartwarming!

You’re not going to want to miss this one if you’ve read the others and if you haven’t started the series yet and enjoy tropes like; soulmates, found family, epic battles, shadow magic, hurt/comfort, high stakes, and more then you’re going to want to check this one out!

This is the last book in the Light in the Shadows trilogy, and it doesn’t disappoint. The world building is excellent. It draws you into a world filled with magic, action, adventure, and amazing characters! Wren and Tyran are fighting to save their people from ISMAEL. He is controlling Tyran and will stop at nothing to control all of the realms and Wren’s shadow magic if they can’t stop him.

This was the perfect conclusion to the series. I love the multiple POV‘s, seeing some old friends from previous books, and the character development. There are few books series that I keep to reread, but this is definitely one of them! Highly recommend adding to your TBR.

The Shadows of the Crown starts right where the last book ends. Wren is going crazy with worrying about Tyran and determined to get him back in one piece. Tyran is trying to maintain his sense of self and fight for control of his own mind and body as Ismael grows more and more powerful. The story has battle scenes, adventure, love, and twists. It was a great way to see Wren learn to trust and love herself. Both Tyran and Wren face their traumas with maturity, openness, and grace. It was refreshing to have characters deal with their trauma in healthy ways. I enjoyed spending more time with Oona and Gunner and wished I got a bit more of them. The alliance of all the different groups that used to dislike each other come together to end the threat to their world was very satisfying conclusion.
