'This is the perfect conclusion to a perfect series.' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Daggers drawn. It’s time for war. I wouldn’t be done until I held the heart of a god in my hand.
Chiara is a captive of Vitus, the god of life. He plans to kill her and in doing so shatter the barrier between the godly and mortal realms. If he succeeds then everything Chiara knows and loves will be destroyed. More than that, she will lose Callum.
The daughter of death, Chiara has only known darkness. She is a monster. A weapon. A killing machine. And – if she can escape Vitus – the mortal realm’s only hope.
But even hope might not be enough when it comes to war with the gods. For Chiara and Callum to win, Vitus must die and only a god can truly kill a god. It seems nothing can save them, except perhaps death itself…

'Perfect ending to this trilogy that I loved so so much !!!! Katie Galvin please write more????' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Katie Galvin lives in Perth, Western Australia. Her childhood love of fantasy and magic followed her into her adult years, resulting in her writing The Gifted. In the rare moments where she’s not running her speech therapy business or writing, Katie can be found at the gym, with a coffee in hand or rolling her eyes at her cat’s antics.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for approving me to read this book, I’m rating it 4.25 stars.
I’m really grateful I’ve had the opportunity to read this whole trilogy and it’s been quite the ride. The conclusion is satisfying and all loose ends are neatly tied up.
Book 3 is as intense as ever after the ending of book 2, there’s so much at stake and it looks quite bleak if we’re being honest. Chiara is such a good FMC, she’s strategic and bold, I feel like you can never count her out the game completely even if the odds are stacked against her. And her soulmate Callum is her literal match, I really enjoy their chemistry and wit whenever they are on page together. Gods and magic make for an interesting combo throughout the trilogy, but book 3 really had everything coming together wondering if it will actually all work out. There’s some loss and envitable betrayal in this book, and some long hidden secrets revealed which shocked me because I didn’t really think we had anything left to unearth.
I highly recommend this trilogy for a good time with high stakes, romance and an interesting plot.
This was a fun story and an exciting conclusion to what felt like an epic tale. I loved how ideals were turned around and upside down throughout the trilogy— for instance— the “good king and queen” was turned upside down and in this tale, we get the story that emphasizes their wickedness. When the beauty is often extolled in the feminine, the beauty of the king is what’s highlighted and the scars and battle wounds of the queen are what’s praised in Chiara. Where you’d usually think about the god of death being male (ex hades) and the goddess of life being female (Gaia, Demeter or Persephone)— this story reverses the roles and gives life the masculine edge and death the feminine.
A minor critique- Either some of the rules were broken or I didn’t fully grasp them all, but some of the happenings didn’t seem like they could or should be happening. This did not impact my enjoyment of the story as a whole, it just gave me pause several times as I reconciled what I’d just read to what I understood about the world building. There were many shifting pieces and layers as Chiara grew to accept her power over death, so it’s possible I just didn’t follow it well which led to my confusion. Either way, it was still a fun and exciting story which was impossible to put down.
I would like to thank HarperCollinsUK and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy
The Divine by Katie Galvin is the first person-POV conclusion to the YA dark fantasy series, The Gifted. Chiara, Callum, and their friends need to end the war with Victus, but yet more secrets still unfold as Jaxon betrays his friends and Chiara struggles with her newfound powers.
Like the other books, while there is a romance, I don’t really consider this to be a romantasy. It’s not that it’s not present, it’s that it doesn’t really impact the plot and there isn’t that much development of the relationship except now Chiara and Callum are basically engaged but also not really. I think that readers who love a darker fantasy that does have an overarching romance arc but wants that romance arc to be more of a support of the FMC’s arc and not really a character arc for the MMC, then this will be fun and satisfying. But if your hardline requirement for romance is that the MMC also gets a character arc, then this is going to slot more firmly into fantasy.
The worldbuilding in regards to the gods did expand a bit in this book and we spent more time with the gods and learning about them and their culture. We especially learn more about how Chiara’s powers work and why they work in that way.
I would recommend this to fans of the first two books
—— 3 ★ ⤿〝 I love your scars. Every one of them. That voice – gods, I loved that voice. Needed that voice. That was my Callum. Sharp, but warm. 〞
! Thank you NetGalley and ONE MORE CHAPTER for the copy of the book !
⤷I expected it and at the same time no, I don't know, this book has raised different emotions in me but it has been quite interesting and I have to admit that it is a good closing for the trilogy
4.25* "I've never been good at living. Surviving. Enduring. But never living."
Thank you to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for this ARC. Honestly such a great and fitting conclusion to this trilogy, I’m sad to see it done frankly. It’s very easy to tell how much thought and love the author put into this story and these characters, because everything stood out from page 1 of the first book.
This book specifically had me gasping over and over again. So many twists and turns I didn’t see coming, betrayals that cut me to the core, and a battle scene that had me holding my breath the whole time. I can hardly believe this is a debut series!
Chiara, Callum, Jaxon, Deana and even all of the gods were fully fleshed out characters that you could actually get invested in. I’m happy with how the end wrapped everything up nicely, and I wish the whole Kingdom nothing but peace from now on.
When the email invitation to ARC read this trilogy turned up in my inbox, I almost turned it down. I’m so glad past me decided to give it a chance.
That ending! The Divine is the concluding book in The Gifted Trilogy by Katie Galvin and before I even begin with my review, I have to say that this was THE emotional, powerful, dark and brutal finale to an epic fantasy series that my dark reading heart had been dreaming of! Finally, finally, Chiara and Callum are a couple, but the cost is immense! Chiara is now Vitus’ prisoner, once again sacrificing herself for those she loves and in doing so having to truly face into the darkness of her own monstrous past as she is tortured and suffers under Vitus’ cruel brutality!
If I haven’t said this in my previous reviews, I’m going to correct myself now – Katie Galvin’s writing brings to life and death, heartbreaking, gut wrenching themes of love, identity, sacrifice, loss and fate that are truly heart-wrenching! Chiara’s character arc throughout this trilogy just keeps growing and becoming more multi-dimensional as Galvin relentlessly leans into allowing Chiara to be all she is and more. There is no apology for Chiara as she is, brutal, vulnerable, strong, flawed, resilient, loving, monstrous, and more. Seriously, the character development alone is seriously brilliant.
The plot is divinely, brutally, powerfully strong as it progresses at rip-roaring pace through action, adventure, emotion, loss and so many twists and turns along the way. The relationships are just so deftly managed, from the bond between Chiara and Callum, to the dynamics of the ‘friendships’ with Jaxon and Deana, who I may not have mentioned in my previous review (sorry,) but without whom this story would have lacked a true mortal element.
The story is woven together beautifully and paced perfectly to deliver hard hitting, violent and damaging action scenes, to then twist to the politics of ruling a kingdom and managing the tensions between the realms of gods and mortals! And that finale is just the right level of intense violence and action alongside pathos and emotion that I was breathless but, just couldn’t stop until I was done!
The Divine brings the threads of this series together in such a satisfying and well balanced way that any minor errors of continuity are totally forgiven and has left me eager to read anything and everything that Katie Galvin writes next! Thank you One More Chapter and NetGalley for sharing this arc with me in exchange for my honest and unbiased review!
This was definitely my favorite installment in the series. It has an incredibly fitting conclusion that leaves it so that you could stop reading it here, or you could read any spinoffs that might come about. I personally would leave it here, especially because he get our happily ever after, but I did appreciate that it was left so more books could possibly appear in this world.
Unlike the first two books in this series, this one is action packed! Every time you thought you were going to be able to breathe for a bit, something would happen that would throw the story into chaos. It still has some slow moments, but unlike in the other books, I appreciated them more here because they gave you a moment to let your thoughts catch up and give you some time to breathe.
The romance in this book was what cemented it for me. It turned this story from a simple epic fantasy to a darker, romantic epic fantasy that I could see being beloved by the right audience.
I will say, I don’t necessarily recommend binge reading this series. They’re very easy reads, so I didn’t feel like I needed to take a break between them to read other books, but I feel like I would have appreciated at least this one more if I took a break from the world before diving in. We have enough of a cliffhanger after book two to keep you wanting to come back, but this one is long (500+ pages), and it took a bit out of me to read this one after the other two which were shorter.
If you’re looking for an easy to read epic fantasy full of romance, political intrigue, feminine rage, betrayal, found family, and lots of action, give this series a chance.
Thank you very much to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This debut high-fantasy novel is a great choice for getting out of a reading slump.
The story introduces a system of gods who cannot freely enter the mortal world. Instead, they send “gifts”—special powers—to chosen individuals known as the Gifted.
Our main FMC is gifted by the God of Death, and she appears to be caught in the middle of a war between realms. Now, she bears responsibility more than ever. I truly enjoyed seeing her grow up (she’s 18 years old), gain more power and become more mature in her choices. Compared to the first two books, where Chiara resembled Nesta from ACOTAR in most of her actions and thoughts, here she becomes a version of her own self. She is strong, mature, and loving. And omg the fact that I learned about her!! I wasn't expecting that at all.
The MMC, Callum, turned out more bearable in this book (I didn't really enjoy cute talking like "I don't care about the world, I need just you."). However, the relationship dynamic wasn't up my alley. The focus of this book is on Chiara, not even on Callum, who somehow moved to the side character.
I hated the ending. It ruined the whole world-building for me. I was ready to give this book 4 stars, but because of that same ending, I cannot give it anymore.
If I talk about the whole trilogy, it is a nice debut for Katie Galvin. The FMC had a complex character that evolved throughout all three books. Most events that happened didn't surprise me personally but might be a shock for others. I cannot say I'm a fan of this trilogy, but I did enjoy reading it and couldn't put it down.
Thank you to One More Chapter for providing the digital ARCs for the whole trilogy. All opinions expressed above are my own.
I found The Divine to be a mixed experience. On the plus side, the author delivers a satisfying wrap-up to the trilogy, giving many of the lingering threads a sense of closure. The pace is more urgent than in the earlier volumes, and I appreciated that the story took fewer breaks from the action. The romantic subplot felt stronger and more integrated into the larger narrative this time around, elevating the book from just “epic fantasy” into something darker and more emotionally charged. However, there were a few issues that held me back from a higher rating. Despite the stronger pace, the sheer length of the book (over 500 pages) sometimes made the momentum drag, especially when compared to the leaner previous installments. Also, while the romance worked more for me here, some of the secondary characters and world-building felt under-explored—at times it seemed like the story was trying to juggle too much. I would have preferred if the author had trimmed some of the slower moments or given certain threads more breathing room. In the end, I enjoyed the ride, but it didn’t fully deliver on the promise I had for it. If you’re already invested in this series and enjoy fantasy with a romantic edge, you’ll likely find this installment worthwhile. But if you’re hoping for something tight, polished and deeply immersive, this one might leave you a little wanting.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own :)
The Divine, the final book in Katie Galvin’s Gifted trilogy, delivers an intense, emotional, and myth-soaked conclusion that had me hooked from the very first chapter.
Chiara remains the absolute standout of this series. I adore her. She’s fierce, powerful, traumatized, resilient, and so unapologetically complex. Watching her navigate her identity as the daughter of Death while fighting for the mortal realm was absolutely captivating. And her chemistry with Callum? Unbelievable. Their bond, their tension, their devotion - it all hit so perfectly in this final installment.
The divine, godly aspect of the story really steps into the spotlight here. The world-building expands beautifully, with the conflict between realms, the stakes of Vitus’ plan, and the role of the gods all coming together in such a satisfying way. The twists, turns, and final battle scenes were some of my favorites in the series. They were dramatic, emotional, and high-stakes in the best way.
However, there were a few moments where the plot slowed down more than I wanted, and some scenes felt like they dragged just a bit. But overall, the emotional payoff and the epic scale of the finale more than made up for it.
A strong, gripping conclusion to a dark and addictive fantasy series. Chiara, and this world, will stay with me for a long time.
Katie Galvin is a darn good writer, and it shows throughout this trilogy. She cares about the story, about the characters and about the relationships. It’s hard to find romantasy series with such consistent good quality throughout.
I really appreciated how the relationship was the main focus, but also not. Without spoiling too much I enjoyed that the main characters got the space to grow and weren’t just stuck to each other the entire time.
Why isn’t this a 5 star then? I really loved the arch throughout the 3 books. Chiara has a great personal development story. But! This is a non-YA fantasy story written with YA characters. There is something that is completely unbelievable about 17 year olds saving the world and also finding themselves in a serious and fated relationship. Why are we so afraid to age characters up? Do it! We like characters who have lived!
I received this as an ARC from One More Chapter, which I am grateful for. These opinions are my own, and are freely given.
Okay, can we just talk about how *The Divine* absolutely SLAPS as the finale to *The Gifted* trilogy?! 😍 Dark, emotional, and totally relentless — war, gods, betrayal, and Chiara finally stepping into her full power. I was hooked from page one.
Chiara is iconic — broken, angry, unstoppable — and her dynamic with Callum? Pure chaos in the best way. Sure, a few moments fly by fast, but honestly, I didn’t care, because I *needed* to know what happens next. This book broke me, rebuilt me, and then broke me again.
**Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐ — If you’ve been following the trilogy, you NEED this ending. Epic doesn’t even cover it.**
📚I was able to read an advanced copy of title thanks to NetGalley, Katie Galvin and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter 📚 📚All reviews and opinions are entirely my own📚
After reading The Broken I couldn't wait to finish the trilogy. The last part is called The Divine, a title which fits the storyline really well. After being captured by Vitus, Chiara needs a new plan to defeat him. She is the only hope for the mortal realm, but will she be able to save it before it's to late?
This book is the perfect ending to The Gifted trilogy. This story is full of the yearning romance between Chiara and Callum, but also has the tension and adventure you seek in an amazing fantasy. This book has even more twists than the previous ones and it just kept me hooked! Gods, powers of death, magical illusions and strong friendships, this book just has it all.
The Divine, the final book in Katie Galvin's series, is a three-star read for me.
It was enjoyable, with some long-hidden secrets revealed that slightly surprised me. However, some of the happenings didn’t seem like they could or should be happening. Overall, it wasn’t a book that made me desperate to pick it up, and pacing issues persisted, similar to the earlier books.
The FMC remains a complex character who evolves throughout the trilogy, and the found family dynamics continue to be engaging. Most events didn’t personally surprise me, but they might be surprising for other readers.
I cannot say I am a fan of this trilogy, but it was enjoyable to read and a solid conclusion.
Thank you to One More Chapter for providing the digital ARCs for the entire trilogy in exchange for honest reviews.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
The final book in the series wrapped up this trilogy beautifully. The book was action-packed, just like the first two in the series. If anything, there was considerably more action and suspense than previously written as we reached the culmination of the conflict between the realms.
Even with all the action and fighting scenes, the characters continued to develop and show personal growth. This was true not just for the FMC and MMC but pretty much all of the supporting characters.
We got yet another extremely well-timed and well-placed Callum chapter to see things from his POV.
I am delighted with how the series wrapped up, and I feel that there are no loose ends or lingering questions.
The Divine delivers a dark, intense, and emotionally charged finale that fully commits to war with the gods and the cost of power. Chiara’s journey is brutal and relentless, and watching her confront what she is and what she is willing to become kept me glued to the page. The stakes feel enormous, the action is sharp and unforgiving, and the tension between Chiara and Callum adds an aching emotional core to the chaos. While a few moments felt overwhelming in their intensity, the payoff is strong and satisfying, especially in how Chiara steps fully into her role as the daughter of death. This was a gripping and powerful conclusion that stayed true to the series while delivering an ending that felt earned.
What a stunning novel! I devoured the first two books but this was the excellent climax of the series (so far).
It's going to be hard to review without spoilers but I can say this: it is action packed. There are twists, turns, plenty of fights, lots of banter and a satisfing ending.
I will read literally anything else that Katie writes and I hope Jaxon gets his own series, big Astarion vibes that I enjoy to no end.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for facilitating me with a review copy of this book at no cost and with no obligation. I reviewed this book voluntarily, and all opinions are my own.
The Divine was a thoroughly satisfying conclusion. The emotional depth I loved in The Gifted is back, and the plot moves with the same relentless pace that defines the series. It ties up the threads with care, delivering closure without losing momentum.
I read The Gifted months before picking up The Broken, and I felt the disconnect. The emotional ties had faded, and I struggled to stay invested. But The Divine brought me back. It reminded me why I cared in the first place.
I highly recommend reading the trilogy back to back. The character arcs hit harder when you stay immersed, and the emotional continuity makes all the difference.
The enemies are finally lovers, but it has come at a horrendous, torturous cost.
Prisoner of the God of Life, Vitus, Chiara must endure long enough to find both her power and her freedom. Blocking her bond with Callum takes everything she has left, even when death looms.
She knows what she needs to do, but can they ever be powerful enough to achieve it?
This was a horror-filled, twisty-turny, action-packed conclusion to the trilogy. Power must be earned and bargained for, bonds will be tested, and Gods will face Gods when the end comes.
I still missed the spice my little romantasy heart yearned for, but this was an epic conclusion filled with everything I could have hoped for.
An enjoyable end to this Romantasy series! I liked the way the story was resolved. The adventure, intrigue and romance continued. The battle between Callum, Chiara and the gods was detailed and very well written. I don’t want to give away more details and ruin the book for others. Suffice to say that I enjoyed this last book in the series and would heartily recommend it! Happy reading!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
AMAZING! No words can explain how much the Gifted series means to me. It is exceptional - literally everything about the books are. This book brought the series to a perfect ending and it is definitely a series I will reread again and again because of how good it is. You must read this book if you like anything remotely romantasy or fantasy.
Thank you to net galley, Katie Galvin and Harper Collins One More Chapter for allowing me to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review
This was a satisfying ending to the trilogy. I enjoyed the world building but I didn't much care about any of the secondary characters. I just wanted to know what happened to Chiara and Callum!
Overall I liked it and I read it in one day. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I finished the last book in this series and enjoyed it a lot. i was invested in the plot and wanted to know what would happen next, though i must admit that the series felt like it kept on a bit longer than necessary. i did get more attached to these characters over time!
thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
Long book but a very nice and happy ended just as I would wish for. Def made me more interested in romantasy and so proud of my god sister for having written such a well thought out series
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The Divine is a powerful and emotionally charged finale that delivers everything I hoped for and more. From the very first chapter, the intensity is palpable — the stakes are higher, the threat is divine, and Chiara’s darkness is pushed to its absolute limit.
This book leans fully into the themes of identity, sacrifice, and fate. Chiara’s captivity under Vitus is terrifying and heartbreaking, and watching her confront her past, her power, and her own monstrous self was one of the most compelling parts of the whole trilogy. Katie Galvin lets her be brutal, vulnerable, and fiercely resilient all at once — it’s fantastic character work.
The relationship between Chiara and Callum is beautifully handled here. Their connection feels raw and earned, weaving together desperation, trust, resentment, and love. The emotional payoff between them is incredibly satisfying without losing the dark edge that defined their journey.
The pacing is sharp, the action scenes hit hard, and the tension between the mortal realm and the gods keeps the plot moving at full speed. The twists are well-placed, and the final act is intense, cinematic, and deeply emotional — a true finale.
Overall, The Divine is a dark, gripping, and beautifully crafted conclusion to the Gifted trilogy. Action-packed, full of heart, and impossible to put down.
