Love Sings

This was cute, but I struggled with the flow of the story.

Citrell was a good man. He owned a plumbing business by day and a Karaoke bar by night. He was also a musician, a talented Guitarist that had no desire to be famous, that used his Karaoke bar which had a live band as an outlet. He crosses path with Sundae, a real song bird with a hypnotizing voice that spoke to his strings and his body 🤭

Citrell was also a loving father of a sweet girl, Callira, who was his top priority. Little did they know Callira would actually be the one to bring them back together.

I liked:
*The MCs and the individual characters. Most of them served a purpose.
• Callira and her bestie were so cute. I enjoyed every time they were on the page.
• The chords scene was IT, idk anything about music but it seemed sexy af.

I struggled with:
* The repeating of scenes through the pov of the other main character. It didn't feel necessary.
• The harsh switch from chapter to chapter. It felt disjointed.
• The ending felt rushed, but I did like that it wasn't predictable

This book is such a great time!

I admittedly am not a huge fan of novellas. I often find them too rushed, too convoluted, or lacking necessary information. Mel Dau's "His Strings Make Her Legs Sing" made me shut the hell up!

While I wouldn't call the story of Cyntrell and Sundae an insta-love, it is a fast-paced romance. This book is short but packs a mighty punch. Mel Dau flows through their love story effortlessly while sprinkling in music and mess. I love the fact that she mostly omits advertising musicians but alludes to them subtly. The character development is fantastic, and the dialogue left me in stitches. Their relationship feels authentic, though the quicker pacing inherent to novellas makes it feel fast.

I find that she tackled the issues of child abandonment, divorce, and abuse well without getting too bogged down in the trauma. This book is a fantastic light read and an amazing palate cleanser.

Loved every minute of this but especially the pacing. It was perfect because I was about to be in a slump. Single dad trope. Baby momma drama. Nice short read. Mel Dau always does it for me.

Citrell and Sundae!!

Mel Dau has written another great book that I couldn't put down. Citrell and Sundae were perfect for each other, and they knew it from the first night that they met. I loved how the author brought them together. From their love of music to Sundae being the perfect teacher that Citrell's daughter, Callira, needed. I fell in love with Callira as well as her bestie, Princess. Callira's mother worked my last nerve with all of her shenanigans. I couldn't believe some of the stupid stunts she pulled just because Citrell didn't want her. This was a great story that had educational moments that Mel always treats us to. Pick up this book. I have confidence that you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Freaking amazing

I don't even know where to start to express my love for every page written. Sundae, my queen, your heart is a gem to protect others. You were put on this earth to speak life into those who have lost faith and who need someone to see and understand them. Callira needed you. Shoot, her dad did, too.

Citrell, sir, we need more father's like you. After reading your truth, you are a beacon sent here to protect, love, and satisfy. Your love as a father would make other fictional men jealous. You let the lawyer and karma do their thing. Hats off to you.

Now let's get to the game I am stealing, Mel Dau..... you did that.

His strings make her legs sing

This was a cute story and I really liked Sundae and Citrell together. Their chemistry was off the charts and I was here for all their scenes together. An added bonus was little Ms. Callira. She was so cute and lovable. Citrell and Sundae made music together both in the club and in the bedroom.

Iesha was the definition of a doodoo head dummy. She was beyond dumb and seemed to be in definite need of therapy because something was wrong with her. She really thought her actions would hurt Citrell but in reality they only pissed him off and showed how much of a nuisance she was.

Wow!!

The perfect blend of two of my favorite things… love and music!! In my heart you can’t have one without the other. And this book has its own playlist!!

Citrell and Sundae’s love story was definitely a love at first sight for him that grew to something absolutely beautiful! Their love for music was just the icing on the cake!

At first she ran from him but all she did was run right into the heart of the person who would be the one to bring them closer together. Of course there was drama, it wouldn’t be a Mel Dau book if it didn’t have drama.

It’s definitely a must read, so make sure you add this book to your TBR!

First and foremost Wicked Strings sounds like my type of Saturday night vibe. That alone kept me intrigued.

Citrell and Sundae met when Sundae and her sister went to Citrell’s karaoke bar to celebrate a recent accomplishment with their institute. It was an instant connection that led to what they thought was a one night stand.

Things heated up and moved fast. From their first date Citrell knew this was his wife and was ready to add her to his day to day life. One thing slowing them down was Citrell’s daughter whom also was living with Down syndrome.

This was a good story and the pace was perfect. I flew through this story and was happy the whole way through.

Loves Challenges and Successes

You did the dam thing with this book!!!…I love the genuine love and friendships that grew in this story!!!…This book covered some topics that affect us or some in everyday life!!!…
This book covered a very hard topic of DV and the consequence of one not knowing how to let go when they created the situation that required one to walk away!!!…
I love how Sundae handled Callira in their 1st interaction and then for both Sundae and Citrell to make sure another special girl was not left in the world after losing both her parents!!!…

Great book!!

I love how you spell their names. Citrell and Sundae were made for each other . I love the relationship between Sundae and Callira. They had that bond that she needed from her mom. That Ieasha was something else and glad she relinquished her rights because she didn't deserve an amazing daughter as Callira. Overall, you did your thang with this one like always. Can't wait for your next book!!

I loved this story. Iesha is the worst kind of woman/mother. Citrell is my kinda man, plumber by day and musician at night. Sundae is the opposite of Iesha and exactly what he was missing from his life. I love the bond she instantly made with Callira and how Callira claimed her as her “singing friend”. The flow of the story is a bit fast with quite a few time jumps but they are necessary since this is a short read. Definitely worth the time and a good palette cleanser.

Awesome Read

Citrell was a man of many talents that got caught up with the wrong person. Callira was his world, but adding Sundae to their universe was beautiful. Citrell knew exactly how to play every one of Sundae's strings to make beautiful music. Iesha was beyond pathetic. She constantly proved her ignorance and why she never deserved Callira. Marco and Wynsdae became just as fascinated with one another. Awesome read!

His Strings Make Her Legs Sing

I love music so this story resonates with me to no end. Citrell and Sundae were too good together. Their vibe was everything.

He knew he wanted her at the first note and she wanted him at the first string.

Now baby mama was too much. She was a sad case of motherhood. Relinquishing her rights was the best gift for Callira. Glad she finally got the memo.

As always Mel Dau's stories leave you wanting more.

The writing nevere Fails me

Tjis was another Great read. So many parents don't know how to deal with their children if they don't come out in their perfect image. I loved to see a man not only step up but protect his child and shower her with love. He was able to put the right people in her life to grow her development.

Beautifully Written

It gave what it was supposed to give. Touched on a few serious subjects in a way that was not weighed down. Created awareness for certain topics & provided a great story.

Would be nice to see a short follow up with more from Sundaes sister & Marco.

Drama and love can coexist

Sundae and Citrell's story was real. I felt like I was watching friends drama love story play out. The intimate scenes didn't lack either. I'd call this story sophisticated hood ratchet. I loved every line!

It was cool for a quick novella. Story kept me interested for what it was. Spicy scenes were okay. The spelling of the names were diabolical. I am all for being different but my lawd 😭

Love The Music

Music is the great equalizer in this story. The music between the children and their parents, the lovers, the teachers and the students. The music was the main character and it had the best supporting characters.

Great story

It was so fun and so sad at the same time. Unfortunately some women do think they can trap a man with a baby and when it doesn't work in their favor, the child suffers. Love how it ended. Can't wait to listen to the playlist
