Fifteen later-in-life lesbians share their candid life stories of how they realized they were queer, came out of the closet, and started living their authentic lives.
As a senior editor and journalist throughout the 80s and 90s, Judith Yahav has experienced the shame and guilt of living as a closeted bisexual, and the relief of coming out later in life as a lesbian. Seeking women with similar stories, Judith realized she was far from alone. Naomi confessed to her husband about her secret affair with a young woman when she was in the army, only to have it used against her during their divorce; Gabi was never attracted to women before and had sex with a woman for the first time at 61; Ruth and her husband agreed to have an open marriage, allowing her to express her true sexuality while keeping their homelife intact.
In this raw and candid collection, 15 women from all walks of life share their powerful and emotional coming-out stories. Some of them dealt with living a double life, some realized they were attracted to women later in life, sometimes years after their divorce. They all recount the fallout from divorce, the difficulties of coming out to husbands and children, and finally finding the courage to look for the love they deserve.
These empowering stories explore the impact of living in the closet and how overcoming shame and guilt to love freely can be the bravest act of all.
