Found the author a bit condescending. He made a few comments about other people "cheating" or taking the easy way when they did something different from what he was doing. A lot of people choose to use a Sherpa service and he seemed to deride that option. He then went on to complain a lot about the weight of his pack, his shoulders aching from carrying the pack, his legs aching and being tired because of the distance they choose to walk. If you make the choice to walk far and carry a pack and camp that's great but don't complain or look down your nose at others who choose to not do that. At least the other people were out doing something.
There were some good descriptions about trail conditions, what some of the towns were like, what it is like when the weather is not pleasant and how difficult it can be to find the correct trail.
It seemed like the author was in a contest or race and that he didn't really enjoy it. Just kept talking about 'wanting to get it over'. Why do it?
