Hi all, I love this series. I have now read all three. Apart from the fact that the MC drinks a lot and I mean a lot of coffee, it is a great read. I like its inventiveness and cast of characters which is still growing. If you like the russian genera, a well rounded OP MC and device building, its one for you.

Great
To my mind a good book should either feel like a letter from a friend or a story told round a campfire. The suspension of disbelief is critical. The characters should be if not old friends then acquaintances.This series of books ticks all the boxes. If you want something to recharge your batteries for the next chapter in real life then i highly recommend this book

amazing series
I love this series.
The storyline is interesting, well thought out, and NOT obvious.
There is not any “filler” chapters. Meaning, mention of persons or places that do not contribute to the story.
It was exciting to find out what would happen next. And to who. There were a lot of surprises. Some new characters were introduced and they made sense to be in the story. The other characters were developed and each had their own significant roles to play.
Well thought out. I wait with bated breath for the next in the series.

I’m hooked.
The marketing worked, I read the first novel for free, was so enamored with the story, I purchased the balance of the available books in the series. I am not disappointed, I am pleased with the continuing story.

Not sure why the original review dissapeared but this is the best of the series to date. This time Alexander is called to fix an essential artifact from the Academy of Magic, and in the process he discovers a conspiracy against the state, another against decency and public peace, saves some kittens (which later turn out to be magical), adds two more people to his household - an orphan with high magical potential who first of course needs a stable home and appropriate schooling, and a young shadow magician, also an orphan but a street tough and ward (maybe more but we do not know for now??) of the "king of the thieves" with whom Alexander has an amiable business relation as we know from volume 2.
Not to speak of getting wrangled into teaching at the academy, dealing with state security matters and other complications our hero doesn;t really need in his quest for a peaceful and prosperous life; and sadly his beloved grandfather is losing his magical gift so that needs to be adreesed asap...

I received a review copy of this book.
The Mirror of Power is book 3 in this series, and while it's relatively calm for this series, it's also rather important if you're following the series, because we learn all kindf of new things about the main character's powers, gain some new household members, and see his artificer skills put to the test. I liked this one, and most certainly plan to continue the series.

The mission/conflict/mystery is starting to get a little repetitive but I love how the home life is being enriched, and how the quality of life for the entire island city has become a priority for the protagonist.

My reviews are my own. If you liked this book, I’m glad you enjoyed it. If not, I respect your opinion. This is merely my opinion, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary.
This one was a bit boring. I still hate the naturalist character; I can't even remember her name, as I have been skipping the chapters with her. I wish the only female interaction was with the angel and the voice assistant :) also dislike all the "getting a partner" conversations, so much unnecessary filling. If it wasn't because of that, I would have enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the second one, which is my favorite so far. I did enjoy how it ended, and that they gave us information on the missing person.
I will be waiting for book 4 coming up in January.....
On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
