A rescue mission turns into a future, if this Dark Patriot can conquer her past and make her trust again.
Ben never imagines he’ll walk into a prison and find a woman who impacts him like no other. He was here to help out a friend and colleague rescue his kidnapped woman, Keeley. Only they stumble into where Keeley’s sister, Kensy, has been held for months. Her rescue is the start of months of Ben building trust with Kensy.
She has no reason to trust a man. Ben took Beau’s advice and was there for her in whatever capacity she needed, which has been mainly her friend and confidante. However, Ben has no idea how long he can hold out. He wants to let her know that he sees her as something more than a friend.
Kensy has done a great deal of work with her therapist during those months. She knows she has to take control of her life and stop relying on her sister and others, so she drops the bomb. She’s moving out. And she sees it as a way to free Ben to have a life; even if, secretly, Kensy wants Ben in her life more than just as a friend.
Their feelings erupt, and after a few bumps, they decide to see what a relationship between them can be like. However, before they get far, Ben and Beau are sucked into a mission. One that seems to echo what Kensy went through. Rather than run from it, she and her sister go with the men on the mission. And that’s just the beginning of expanding hearts, blossoming love, nightmares from the past, family secrets, and danger.
By freeing Kensy from her past, Ben frees himself, leaving them both rejuvenated and claiming a future together.
An avid reader with a passion for romances that finally got the chance to write one of her own. The rest is history. Not what anyone thought for someone who has been a nurse and in healthcare management for years.
I sit writing as my two fur babies, my pugs Kujo and Khaos, impatiently wait for me to get done so they can lay on me as their human sofa!
My children are finally considered to be adults, so it's me, the hubby and the dogs.
I'm a iced tea drinking fiend who has insomnia, more ideas than I know what to do with, and a need to write them down.
Not too bad for a girl from rural Ohio in the foothills of Appalachia that grew up in a town of about 4000 people.
Jeez what has happened to these books? 80 pages in and it might be a dnf! They're so slow. The dialogue I've just read is so cringeworthy! The way the dialogue flows is so forced and fake, it just reads oddly. I adore the original books but these patriot ones have started to be boring and I'm wondering if the quality of the books is being hindered because of the quantity of books being released
For some reason, this one seemed to read slow to me, more so than other books in the series. Not sure why. I hated what Kensy went through, thought her way to get better was a good one and worked for her. The people around her were careful, without treating her like she would break at any moment. Ben's way to get into Kensy's life was a good one. He knew she was it for him from the start, so he just made sure he was around, then friends, then more. At each step, Kensy knew he was there for her and when they made that last leap, he firmly let her know she was in control.
It was interesting how Keely reacted to all of this. At times her reaction was so over the top and it was fun to see Kensy talk her down.
The action at the end was a bit crazy, but it also seemed to help Kensy get over things. It was nice to see how that all turned out. Bad guys caught, a life planned out for the couple.
Since reading Beau's Retribution, we had an inkling Ben and Keeley would end up together.
What started out as rescuer and rescued slowly builds into something more. Both Ben and Keeley didn't want to admit to each other at first their feelings. Keeley due to the fact that she doesn't want Ben to feel like he is obligated to be with her; and Ben due to the fact that he thinks Keeley isn't ready and doesn't want to push her. When Keeley finally feels ready to be on her own is when both she and Ben admit their feelings for each other.
Her healing process is thrown a little to the wayward when it's discovered that the traffickers that caused hers are still in business. Will helping the Dark Patriots take down this branch end up helping her healing process? Or will it lead her down a dark hole?
It's always a pleasure being able to read the books Ciara puts out and I'm always left eager for more. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the Dark Patriots world.
They started out as rescuer and rescueed, but they soon started having feelings for each other, but each hides their feelings because he thinks she isn’t ready and she hides hers because she doesn’t want him to feel that he has to be with her. When they find out that the traffickers that they rescued her from, are still working and stealing women to be sold. They go undercover, because both herself and her sister look like the woman they are trying to rescue. They succeed in rescuing her and taking out people who were both trafficking and seeking government secrets. They finally tell each other that they love each other and start having a future that they didn’t think they would have.
Ben and Kensy was so much more than just a romance. It was story of healing for both of them, of building a life that they couldn't have dreamed of not that long ago. Starting out as friends gave them a solid foundation for their love and commitment. Kensy went through something horrible and does everything in her power to heal. Not only did she heal, she took power from her ordeal and strived to get stronger and learn to fight even harder. Ben never waivered in his commitment to Kensy, even when he wasn't sure she would ever return his feelings. I loved their story so much!! Can't wait to see the next Dark Patriot fall!
Book give in the Dark Patriots series. On admission with his brother. They located the missing girls. One of the lucky ones is Keely. Her sister found her and is taking care of her. Ben was lost first time he looked at her. He knows she’s his. He has to be cautious with her. Almost gentle. When she decides to take charge of her life and move out, Ben knows he has to tell her how he feels. She knows she’s not worth anything she’s used and abused. Ben won’t let her think like that. He shows her what it is ti be loved and cherished by a club man. Loved it
Ben rescued Kensy from a horrible situation and fell in love with her immediately. Kensy had feelings for Ben fairly quickly, but both thought it was too soon after her horrible experience. They build a wonderful friendship and finally admit their feelings for each other. Ben's employer sends him on a job, and Kensy goes along to help and face some of her demons. I loved watching these two fall in love and go through all the lows to get to the highs of their hea. This series is wonderful and a must read.
Another fantastic book by Ciara St. James!! I have loved all of the previous Dark Patriots stories and romances and this one is no exception. I really loved Kensy's spirit, courage, tenacity and her love for Ben. They are perfect together and I adore them! Once I started reading this book I could not put it down until I reached the very happily ever after ending! There is a reason Ciara is my favorite author; besides her amazing talent t create a story, I met her at a signing and became enamored with her!
I loved Ben and Kensy's story. Ciara St James has a great way of bringing out all the feels in her books. This book has sadness and happiness with some trouble thrown into the mix. Kensy overcomes such horrors and becomes a strong feisty woman with the help of Ben, Beau and her sister Keeley. This was definitely more than 5 stars ⭐⭐ Ciara you have written another fantastic book and I look forward to reading the next one ❤️💜
This book showed us all about women power. Kensy is Keely sister and after her pain comes strength. These girls kicked major a**. Of course, Ben and Beau pulled there weight. These book in the series supplies good doses of action, sexy time and a few good laughs. So, get started and enjoy these must read books. Five stars. Peace out. Love this author!
This wasn't my favorite DP book but got better towards the end. Wish the characters of Heath and Justin were fleshed out a bit more. Just like the hint of Ben's upbringing seemed more of an issue but then turned into a mundane cult existence explained away in a go him way.
Like his fellow Patriots Ben fell hard and fast. Unfortunately he had to bide his time Kensey had so much terror and abuse to overcome. However due to training from her father, Kensey became a fighter and helped bring justice to her demons.
Love this book and it's series and would recommend it to anyone who loves to read about alpha males and their women 💝 and Ciara St James is an amazing writer ❤️
